Ohio’s one‑woman brutal death metal force Cordyceps Corpse, the grotesque creation of multi‑instrumentalist Nani Porter, is set to unleash her most violent and ambitious work yet. “Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses,” the project’s second full‑length album, due out on October 9th, 2026 from Gore House Productions, drags listeners deeper into a world of chaos, contrast, and pure sonic depravity.

With today’s album announcement, Cordyceps Corpse unleashes the album’s first single and music video, “Forced Out of Existence,”.

“This song starts with slow, held-out chords, then gets into the slams. Lyrically, I just wanted to write something wild and kinda fried. I think I accomplished that, haha,” adds Porter.

Formed in late 2023 when Porter decided “f*ck it, I’ll do it myself,” Cordyceps Corpse began as a solo experiment in fast, filthy brutality. After years of producing beats for others, she turned impatience into inspiration, recording the project’s first single in her bedroom and immediately carving out a place in the underground.

Following the Gore House Productions reissue of her debut “From Flesh To Fluids,” Porter dove headfirst into crafting its successor. In a whirlwind month‑and‑a‑half writing spree, she composed 26 songs, ultimately distilling the carnage into 11 tracks that feel like watching a truly fucked‑up movie unfold in audio form.

“Perverse Craving For Rotting Corpses” pushes Cordyceps Corpse’s sound into new extremes, faster, filthier, more technical, and more cinematic. The album’s 11 tracks explore murder, gore, supernatural serial killers, cannibalism, torture, revenge, bodily destruction, and surreal horror, all delivered with Porter’s unique mix of chaos and groove. From the opening track’s “Aileen Wuornos” interview sample to the piss‑drinking anthem “Urophagia,” each song pushes the boundaries of slam and brutal death metal.

Lyrically, the album marks a major shift. Instead of pure guttural rhythm, Porter wrote full narratives inspired by crime interrogation footage, horror films, Darby Valentine videos, and the grim psychology of figures like Aileen Wuornos. The album unfolds like the twisted diary of a Glock‑loving, necrophilic, cannibalistic misandrist woman who grows more powerful with every victim she consumes, flipping the genre’s typical violence dynamic on its head.

“This album dives more into the 90’s/2000’s brutal death metal sound. I really think that era was peak for bdm and slam. I focused on writing a little bit more technical riffs than just straight slam riffs. I feel like it gets to a point where if a song is nothing but slams, it starts to sound like the next song. I think what makes a slam riff hit is context. Like a basic ass slam riff sounds cool as f*ck after crazy fast riffs or whatever. 90’s/2000’s era, I feel, does this well with like switching stuff off and just being fast too,” says Porter.

The album artwork, created by Adam Nevler (GruesomeGraphx), captures the record’s gruesome cinematic energy in a single disturbing image.

“In Slam / Brutal Death it is often the case that there is only one man behind it, but this is Nani Porter, a woman who takes care of everything. After a few singles and EPs, the lady presents her debut and a sample part gets tough, but not so quickly. The snare is set just right for me on the drum machine and you can hear it stapling wonderfully. I also think it’s great that the woman gets so deep with her voice and in the end there’s a lot of shooting. „From Flesh to Fluids“ starts at a crisp up pace and then bludgeons like crazy and Nani’s gargling is so intense that it almost ends in squeals. „Decapitation“ pushes forward properly before continuing at a pressing mid/slam pace and then sprinkling in a few shooting parts. „Slowly Poisoned“ lives up to its name because it is a tough and crawling track, after which „Battery Acid Enema“ is also played rather clumsily, But here and there it also goes up a gear. „Stomach Bile for Miles“ starts like a battlefield, but then drops more and more with clever breaks. Recently coming off a crushing performance at Loud As Hell Open Air Festival in Drumheller, AB, where they tore through the stage alongside Fallujah, Crimson Shadows, Divinity, and more, Toronto’s Dawn Vally has dropped a ferocious new lyric video for “Kneecapper”, in support of the band’s brand‑new and third EP “Near Death Experience,” released July 31st, 2026, a milestone marking the rebirth of one of Canada’s most relentless metalcore acts.

Formed in 2007 by brothers Jeff and Joe Bartolo, Dawn Vally has spent nearly two decades forging a sound that’s raw, ferocious, intense, heavy, and brutal. What began as a DIY project burning CDs in their early days has evolved into a fully realized force, now rounded out by guitarist Antonio and new vocalist Zac Emmons, formerly of Pound Of Flesh.

“Kneecapper” is a blistering statement of betrayal, an explosive track aimed at a once‑trusted friend whose indecision and backstabbing cost everything. Formed by lifelong friends Giuseppe “G” Criniti (vocals/guitar), Marco Sisti (guitar/bass), and Nico‑Angelo Sisti (drums), OMBRA emerged in late 2020 after G and Marco departed their previous hard‑rock/progressive project NRTH to pursue a heavier, more aggressive sound. Nico, Marco’s cousin and a well‑known drummer in the Montreal scene, joined shortly after leaving Hidden Pride. With all three members having grown up together in Lachine, the band’s formation felt natural, inevitable, and rooted in decades of shared history.

Written between 2021 and 2026, OMBRA’s debut record “Night Terror” channels the band’s lived experiences and observations of a world defined by upheaval, media distortion, obsession, chemical escape, and psychological unraveling. Designed as a continuous front‑to‑back journey, the EP builds toward the intense emotional peak of its title track. Across its five songs, “Night Terror” traces a rising arc of mental tension. Opening track “Hysteria” confronts societal panic and media‑driven chaos; “Stitches” plunges into obsession and the painful pursuit of transformation; “Blue Dream” captures chemical escapism collapsing into paranoia and possession; “Night Terror” delivers a visceral mental freefall where everything goes wrong; and “So It Goes” closes the experience with an instrumental moment of acceptance, peace, and forward motion.

“Our goal was to create something honest. The world has gone through so much turmoil in the last decade. Night Terror is our commentary on fear, control, and the human condition. We want listeners to explore their own minds, think for themselves, and express freely,” says the band.

The band’s writing process begins with the rhythm section, the “heartbeat”, before expanding through long jam sessions, layered melodies, and extended solos. Every member contributes to the songwriting, though G and Marco handle the majority of the core composition.

Canadian heavy metal force THUNDEROR proudly announces the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Bleed For It,” available now on April 17, 2026, through Boonsdale Records. The album marks a major creative leap for the band, expanding their signature blend of heavy metal, hair metal, and rock‑opera theatrics into a full‑scale concept experience.

Formed in 2020 by multi‑JUNO‑nominated musicians JJ Tartaglia and Jonny Nesta (both known for their work in Skull Fist), THUNDEROR quickly rose to prominence with their debut “Fire It Up” (2022), which hit #1 on Earshot’s National Loud Chart. Extensive touring across Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America followed, with the band sharing stages with Airbourne, U.D.O., Enforcer, Night Demon, and more.

The release of “Bleed For It” arrives during a busy year for THUNDEROR. The band will be hitting the road this April for an Eastern Canadian tour supporting Switzerland’s Burning Witches (Napalm Records). They were also scheduled for a European tour with Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.), which was unfortunately cancelled recently due to Holmes’ health issues, but the band notes that more EU dates will be announced when possible.

“Bleed For It” serves as the official soundtrack to “Thunderor The Musical,” which first premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2025. The album tells a sweeping story set in an alternate 1992, where adventure, danger, and romance collide.

The narrative follows Bowen, a washed‑up musician and biker who takes one last shot at glory, joined by his best friends Kenzie and Sheenah, and a local friar. Their journey pits them against a rival biker leader and thrusts them into a whirlwind of love triangles, rebellion, and self‑discovery.

“I hope this album inspires listeners to follow their dreams. Let it be the soundtrack to your unbridled life adventures,” says drummer, vocalist, and primary songwriter JJ Tartaglia.

Musically, “Bleed For It” dives deeper into Thunderor’s arena rock‑opera heavy metal identity, anthemic, melodic, emotional, and built for big stages.

“The vocals have improved drastically, and the songwriting has matured. There’s more emotion in the music, and the choruses are bigger than ever,” says Tartaglia.

That energy fuels a narrative‑driven tracklist that mirrors the spirit of “Thunderor The Musical,” from the adrenaline‑charged opener “Pump Up The Volume” and the anthemic title track, to the road‑trip camaraderie of “Take Me To The Show” and the wrestling‑inspired punch of “Get ’Em Counted.” The album shifts into heartfelt territory with “Cape Breton Home,” erupts into revolution on “Streets Of Fire,” and leans into romance on the heavier “One Chance.” The cinematic “DreamQuest” sets the stage for the finale, “In The Fire O’ The Heat,” a powerful closer about heartbreak, betrayal, resilience, and hope.

The release of “Bleed For It” also follows a wave of momentum for the band. Their 2024 single “Get ’Em Counted” surpassed 230K YouTube views, and the debut of Thunderor The Musical in 2025 introduced fans to a new theatrical dimension of the band’s identity.

“Many of these songs began with vocal melodies. I handled the melodies, arrangements, and drums, while Jonny Nesta wrote the guitar parts. It’s a true collaboration, but the story and emotion drive everything,” adds Tartaglia.

Colorado power metal storytellers Siege Perilous have released the brand‑new lyric video for “Ancient Rite,” the second chapter in their sweeping 2026 concept album “Becoming the Dragon.” The track introduces listeners to the prophecy that binds the album’s protagonist, setting the stage for the epic, ten‑part saga that follows.

Formed in Colorado by longtime friends and LARP companions Shaughnessy McDaniel (vocals), Scott Hancock (guitar), and Mark Girard (drums), Siege Perilous grew from a shared passion for fantasy storytelling and the electrifying inspiration of seeing Unleash the Archers live in 2021. Canadian metal powerhouse The Divine Project continues its explosive rise with two major announcements: the band has been officially added to the lineup for this year’s NXNE Festival in Toronto, ON and The Great Escape Festival (Brighton, UK) and along with releasing a brand‑new music video for “Ruins of Truth,” in support of their acclaimed EP “Rebirth,” released this past November.

Formed originally as a solo project by guitarist Eric Divine, The Divine Project has evolved into a staple of the Ontario heavy music scene. The current lineup, frontman Ro Stevens, guitarist David T. Anselmo, bassist Derek “DRock” Boshkov, drummer Mitch Greenham, and founder Eric Divine, brings together a wide spectrum of influences, technical skill, and live ferocity. The band will be entering the studio this April to record the follow‑up to “Rebirth”. While still unmistakably TDP, the next EP will explore darker, more emotionally lonesome territory.

A dark, cinematic introduction to the new solo project from Ottawa creator Joe Moon (A Scar For The Wicked, Daedfall, ex-Sovereign Council)

Recognized for his guitar work and production roles in Ottawa bands A Scar For The Wicked, DAEDFALL, and previously Sovereign Council, solo goth‑metal artist NOX emerges as the newest creative vessel for cinematographer and visual storyteller Joe Moon. To introduce the launch of this fully self‑realized project, one that fuses heavy music, horror‑driven aesthetics, and immersive worldbuilding into a singular, shadow‑forged identity, Moon unveils NOX‘s debut single and music video for “Night Terror.”

NOX embodies Moon’s long‑standing drive to create something darker, more personal, and more cinematic than anything in his past body of work. After years spent shaping visuals, music, and production across multiple mediums, the project stands as the culmination of that experience, a space where sound, imagery, and storytelling merge without restraint. Moon writes every element himself, from synths and drums to guitars, crafting each track around mood, tension, and emotional gravity. Sonically, NOX pulls from modern metal, melodic death metal, industrial metal, symphonic black metal, and gothic/alternative metal, while weaving in the scale and emotional depth of cinematic scoring.

“NOX is a dark, creative force rooted in heavy music, cinematic tension, and immersive atmosphere. Influenced by metal, horror, sci‑fi, and shadow‑driven visual storytelling, the project exists to create music that feels larger than sound alone, a world built on power, fear, transformation, and emotional weight. The goal is to give people something immersive, something oppressive, emotional, haunting, and atmospheric. Every song should feel like a chapter in a larger story,” says Moon.

“Night Terror” serves as the first entry point into that world. The track is dark, intense, and deeply atmospheric, built around the sensation of being hunted by something both psychological and real. Moon describes it as a reflection of fear, paralysis, and the loss of control, emotions that shape the song’s heavy, immersive sound.

“‘Night Terror’ leans into fear and tension, turning those emotions into something cinematic and overwhelming. It’s meant to feel like stepping into a nightmare you can’t wake up from,” adds Moon.

As a cinematographer and visual creator, Moon approaches NOX with a filmmaker’s eye. The music video for “Night Terror” introduces the project’s aesthetic, a blend of horror, sci‑fi, surrealism, and metal imagery designed to feel like a window into a larger universe. The result is a sound that is dark, cinematic, immersive, and vicious.

About The Bands:

This year’s HMF headliner, Sanctuary, will make their exclusive Canadian appearance unforgettable by performing their acclaimed 1990 album Into the Mirror Black in full.

Formed in Seattle in 1985, Sanctuary quickly became a major force in the city’s metal scene, driven by the soaring vocals of the late Warrel Dane. Their debut, Refuge Denied (1988), produced by Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), put them on the global metal map, followed by the darker and more refined Into the Mirror Black in 1990. The rise of grunge paused the band’s momentum, leading members to form Nevermore, but Sanctuary reunited in 2011 and returned to major festival stages worldwide.

They released The Year the Sun Died in 2014 and the archival collection Inception in 2017. After Dane’s passing later that year, the band continued with Joseph Michael on vocals, earning strong support from fans. Today’s lineup features Michael, original members Lenny Rutledge and Dave Budbill, plus bassist George Hernandez, with a second guitarist joining them live.

Sanctuary will perform special sets of Refuge Denied and Into the Mirror Black at select 2026 festivals and is currently working on a new album, Transmutation. The band is ready to bring fresh music and a powerful new show back to Europe and beyond. See you on the road!

Headlining the night two of HMF, Los Angeles’ Edge of Paradise arrives fresh off extensive North American touring with Delain, Xandria, and Japan’s Lovebites. Hyperspace Metal Fest in Vancouver is one of several major headline appearances for the band this year, alongside Fire It Up Festival in California and Rock in Rautheim in Germany, with more dates on the way.
