Canadian metal powerhouse The Divine Project continues its explosive rise with two major announcements: the band has been officially added to the lineup for this year’s NXNE Festival in Toronto, ON and The Great Escape Festival (Brighton, UK) and along with releasing a brand‑new music video for “Ruins of Truth,” in support of their acclaimed EP “Rebirth,” released this past November.

Renowned for their explosive, high‑energy performances, often spilling off the stage and into the pit, The Divine Project is set to deliver one of the heaviest, most unforgettable sets at this year’s NXNE. Their official NXNE showcase on June 11th at The Bovine Sex Club (https://www.nxne.com/2026-artists/the-divine-project) comes alongside a second major festival appearance on May 15th at The Fiddler’s Elbow at The Alternative Escape stage at The Great Escape Festival (https://greatescapefestival.com/the-alternative-escape/) in Brighton, UK. Both performances are part of the Rock & Metal Alliance showcases, marking a significant milestone for the band as they continue their 2025 relaunch with a revamped lineup and a sharper, heavier, more defiant sound. Their addition to these festivals follows a surge of momentum, including a successful March run supporting Selias, plus recent shows alongside Eyes Set To Kill, Black Satellite, Awake At Last, Sumo Cyco, and Escape The Fate. The band’s rising profile has also been fueled by the breakout reception of their singles “The Revolt” and “Don’t Startle The Murder.”

With their EP “Rebirth,” The Divine Project set out to reintroduce themselves with force, and they delivered. The EP blends modern metal, nu‑groove, djent, and metalcore influences into a four‑track journey through resistance, collapse, psychological tension, and survival. Each song was crafted to hit with emotional and sonic weight while remaining fully performable live, no backing‑track crutches, just raw musicianship.

“We set the goals to reintroduce The Divine Project to the world as a faster, heavier, and more complex band. We made sure we came out swinging and wrote music intended to punch everyone in the face… Rebirth is our new beginning and our way of saying The Divine Project is here to stay,” adds the band.

The newly released video for “Ruins of Truth” showcases one of the EP’s darkest and most atmospheric tracks. Musically, the song leans into heavy groove and emotional gravity; lyrically, it confronts false leaders, ideological collapse, and the erosion of humanity through division. The video amplifies these themes with stark imagery and a performance that captures the band’s signature intensity.

Formed originally as a solo project by guitarist Eric Divine, The Divine Project has evolved into a staple of the Ontario heavy music scene. The current lineup, frontman Ro Stevens, guitarist David T. Anselmo, bassist Derek “DRock” Boshkov, drummer Mitch Greenham, and founder Eric Divine, brings together a wide spectrum of influences, technical skill, and live ferocity. The band will be entering the studio this April to record the follow‑up to “Rebirth”. While still unmistakably TDP, the next EP will explore darker, more emotionally lonesome territory.

Canadian extreme groove metalers Without Mercy have released “Glass,” the second single and visualizer from their upcoming EP Infinite Loss, arriving May 8,th, 2026. “Glass” follows the EP’s first single and music video, “The Saint,” which marked a bold creative departure for the band and signaled a new era of intentional, high‑pressure songwriting.

“Glass” began with a single riff written after guitarist DJ Temple witnessed Meshuggah live, a moment that set the tone for the entire track.

“Glass hits hard because it was written with clarity, conviction, and momentum from the first note. That riff carried a physical weight that immediately set the tone and became the spine of the entire song. Everything else was built to serve it,” says Temple.

Musically, the track leans into interconnected riffs inspired by Meshuggah and Alluvial, filtered through Without Mercy’s own voice. The groove is physical and controlled, tightening inward as the song progresses before opening into a massive, final release. Lyrically, “Glass” explores themes of eyes, mirrors, souls, and translation, a reflection on perception and the distortion that occurs between what is seen and what is understood.

“Infinite Loss” is Without Mercy‘s long-awaited return since releasing their breakout 2020 album “Seismic.” Created under the most immersive conditions the band has ever embraced. For the first time, Without Mercy left home to make a record, relocating across borders and living inside the process for ten days with no escape from the work. The result is a three‑song EP built not around singles, but around statements, each track chosen only after surviving intense scrutiny, revision, and honest confrontation.

Lyrically, the EP centers on the feeling of being hunted by modern pressures: economic strain, identity, time, and survival. There is no single antagonist. The threat shifts, but never disappears. Musically, the record mirrors that tension through weight, repetition, and restraint. Riffs sit long enough to suffocate. Rhythms feel deliberate and physical. The aggression is controlled rather than chaotic.

“There was no comfort, no distance, and no way to step away. This EP forced us to be present with each other and with the music in a way we had never experienced before. This record exists because we chose to be uncomfortable, to argue honestly, and to stay in the room until it felt right,” adds Temple.

The EP’s artwork was created in collaboration with longtime friend Diego Gedoz de Souza, who helped refine the visual direction after early concepts fell short. The final image, a desolate forest with a massive void carved into the earth, reflects the EP’s emotional core: inevitability, loss, and the pull toward something inescapable.

Formed in 2007, Without Mercy blends groove, extreme metal, and technical precision into a sound described as “heavy and insightful at the same time.” The band has shared stages with Cattle Decapitation, Aborted, and Death Angel, and has appeared as downloadable content in Rock Band 3, bridging gaming culture and heavy music.

Their discography includes “All Else Fails” (2007), “Without Mercy” (2009), “Reborn” (2014), rereleased as “Mouichido” (2016), and “Seismic” (2020). “Infinite Loss” marks their most focused and intentional work to date, a release built from collapse, rebuilt through discipline, and finished with absolute conviction.

““The Saint” is somehow both maniacal and controlled. In its opening couple of minutes it seems to be a carefully calibrated convulsion, discharging its myriad sensations in quick stop-start bursts of seemingly off-kilter but tightly executed mayhem. Those sensations include sledgehammer rhythmic brutishness, shrill and spidery fretwork-delirium, and napalm-strength vocals. The grooves are there — grooves of differing kinds — but they quickly jackhammer listeners in the midst of harrowing howls, scorching screams, and a multitude of fleet-fingered but berserk and discordant string contortions. Los Angeles extreme‑metal shapeshifters Ashen Horde return on May 1st, 2026, with “The Harvest”, their fifth full‑length album and the first to feature new vocalist Karl Chamberlain (Putrefier, Alcyone, Necrotic Remains). Known for weaving black metal, death metal, prog, and 90s‑inspired grit into something unmistakably their own, Ashen Horde push their sound further than ever, embracing melody, chaos, and sharp contrasts across eight thematically linked tracks.

Alongside the album announcement, Ashen Horde have unveiled the first single, “Entropy and Ecstasy”, a whirlwind of jagged riffs, angular Voivod‑like progressions, and Chamberlain’s soaring, chilling vocal hooks. The accompanying video represents a major milestone for the band: despite recording the entire album remotely, this is the first time the members have appeared together on camera.

The first preview to the album, “Entropy and Ecstasy,” captures the album’s core idea: finding exhilaration in collapse. The song follows a couple who thrive on the chaos of a world falling apart, a concept Portz admits was likely sparked by the early COVID lockdowns.

Guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz recalls being floored by Chamberlain’s audition:

​“The Harvest” marks a turning point for Ashen Horde. After a decade as a studio‑driven project, the band is preparing to play its first‑ever live shows in May, coinciding with the album’s release. It’s also the first full‑length to feature Chamberlain, whose dynamic range helped reshape the band’s sonic identity.
​
While Ashen Horde’s previous four albums were tightly constructed concept records, “The Harvest” takes a different approach. Each track stands alone, yet all orbit the idea of endings, personal, societal, historical, and cosmic.
​
​“I didn’t have a single story this time, but the lyrics kept circling reactions to things ending. From societal collapse to ancient rituals to the last days of Pompeii, everything tied together naturally,” explains Portz.
​
Musically, the album is a showcase of the band’s eclectic influences. From the opening track, “Autumnal”, a slow-burning ascent into full black‑metal fury, inspired by the Sensorio light installation in Paso Robles. “Backward Momentum” blends Opeth‑style clean‑vocal layering with 90s‑rock riffing and one of Portz’s favorite solos on the album. “Voids in the Ash” pairs grunge‑inflected vocal harmonies with hyperspeed black‑metal bursts, telling the story of Pompeii from both mortal and divine perspectives. “The Apparition” channels early death metal before spiraling into odd‑meter prog weirdness. The title track, “The Harvest,” closes the album with an apocalyptic vision inspired by Iceland’s stark landscapes and the album’s striking cover art.

The album’s cover, featuring two red skeletons locked in an eerie, autumnal tableau, was created by artist Venus Kohana, whose work Portz discovered at an art show. The imagery’s blend of beauty, decay, and ritual perfectly mirrors the album’s themes.

​“I bought a print and couldn’t stop staring at it. Eventually, I realized it had to be the cover. It even inspired the lyrics to the title track.”​

For over a decade, Ashen Horde has carved out a unique place in extreme metal, refusing to be confined to any single subgenre. Rooted in black and death metal but unafraid to explore melodic prog, 90s alternative, and avant‑garde experimentation, the band appeals to fans of Opeth, Enslaved, Amorphis, Ihsahn, and metal’s more adventurous corners.

Southern California’s newest force in melodic death metal, Ravenmocker, has released their debut single, “Infallible”, accompanied by a music video to mark the band’s official arrival and the first of several tracks set to drop throughout the year. Formed in 2025 by guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney, the band emerges from a period of personal upheaval, creative rebirth, and a desire to carve out a culturally rooted identity inspired by Native American lore.

Joined by guitarist George Patmas (ex‑Dianthus), drummer Dylan Suierveld (Levinia), and bassist Will Buckley (Levinia, Anubis), the band quickly developed a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Their influences span Children of Bodom, Insomnium, Amon Amarth, Kalmah, and Dark Tranquillity, while each member brings unexpected flavors, country, jazz fusion, blues, funk, and classical choral music into the mix.

Ravenmocker’s writing process is collaborative, dynamic, and rooted in emotional honesty. While Tierney currently leads much of the songwriting, every member contributes ideas, arrangements, and refinements.

​“We want to write good songs, not just content. These songs were years in the making. The melodies should stick with you. We want people singing with us at shows. We want to give fans something they can feel together,” adds Tierney.

The band’s first single, “Infallible,” represents the moment everything changed for Tierney, the song that pushed him to leave behind a project he’d been part of for five years and fully commit to forging Ravenmocker’s path.

“‘Infallible’ was the turning point. It came from a place in my life that was harming me more than helping me. The guys immediately heard the potential, and it became the first song we worked on. A small clip online hit over 75,000 views, and that connection really showed us this was the right direction. This song started it all,” explains Tierney.

​“Infallible” tells the story of a man who has spent too long in darkness, giving everything to an entity that never gave anything back. The track captures the moment he finally walks away, choosing growth, clarity, and self‑determination over turmoil. Musically, the song is energetic and uplifting, while lyrically, it remains cold, rigid, and emotionally raw. This contrast reflects the duality of stepping into a new future while still carrying the weight of resentment, anger, and frustration.

The single artwork mirrors this theme: A lone figure stands in the ruins of a devastated city, surrounded by collapsed towers and shattered structures. Amid the destruction, a statue of a raven remains standing, wings spread, defiant, symbolizing resilience, rebirth, and the courage to rise from ruin.

Known for her haunting vocals, theatrical visuals, and ghostly whispers, Brocarde returns with her next sonic séance, blurring the line between the living and the dead. A gothic siren of symphonic metal and supernatural storytelling, her most visceral offering yet, “Feed My Soul,” is a thunderous single featuring the legendary Ray Luzier of KORN on drums.

The track was recorded remotely across three cities: Brocarde in London, Luzier in Nashville, and producer Chris Collier (Korn, Mick Mars, Whitesnake) in Las Vegas. Though the trio never met during the recording process, fate intervened at Wacken Open Air, where Brocarde bumped into Luzier in the canteen.

“Watching Ray perform with Korn side stage was a powerful reminder of what I’m fighting for. That’s the level I want to reach,” adds Brocarde.

The “Feed My Soul” music video was shot in a haunted hunting lodge deep within Germany’s Black Forest, ominously known as The Demon Hotel. The setting mirrors Brocarde’s signature theatrical horror aesthetic, equal parts Phantom of the Opera and Edgar Allan Poe nightmare. From hushed whispers to guttural screams, she commands every moment with chilling precision, layering her vocals like a spectral choir and saturating each frame with raw emotion. The walls, adorned with taxidermy heads frozen in terror, serve as eerie spectators to the song’s themes of toxic entanglement and psychological warfare. Ray Luzier’s thunderous drumming injects a primal pulse, anchoring Brocarde’s ethereal delivery in a maelstrom of cinematic intensity.

“Feed My Soul is more than a song; it’s a spiritual experience. I wrote it alone in the dark, channeling voices from beyond and emotions I couldn’t explain. It’s about craving connection in a world that feels increasingly disconnected. I want listeners to question everything they see as normal,” adds Brocarde.

Tonic Breed’s new single “Anew” features Grammy-winning drummer Chris Adler — in what frontman Patrik K. Svendsen calls the most Lamb of God-style drumming he’s heard from Adler since his days in the band.

Tonic Breed, the metal project led by Norwegian musician Patrik K. Svendsen, is set to release its highly anticipated new single, “Anew,” on June 19, 2025. This high-octane track features Chris Adler, the iconic drummer of Lamb of God, lending his blistering rhythms to the song. The collaboration is expected to set the metal world on fire as Tonic Breed blends its signature thrash sound with Adler‘s unmatched drumming prowess. The song was also mixed and mastered by acclaimed producer Machine, who also handled Lamb of God’s “Ashes of the Wake” and “Sacrament”.

“I was quite curious when I got an email — and some riffs — from Patrik. He’s done some cool shit and I was flattered to be on his radar… I researched it for a minute and agreed. We did have to take a minute to both feel good about what this would be — meaning I beat up his song like a fucking Rocky movie — but I knew it had the parts and strength. It’s been a privilege to work with Patrik. Humbling. You’ll know what I mean when you hear it.”

Svendensen adds:

“I originally sent over a rough demo of the song, a storm of riffs strung together with placeholder drums and a suggested structure. We worked together on a new structure for the song, and Chris took the lead on shaping it into something far more unique and effective than my original draft. To me, this is the most Lamb of God-style drumming I’ve heard from Chris since he was in Lamb of God. I’m sure some metal guitarists would kill to hear Chris Adler’s drumming behind their riffs — I’ve been lucky enough to experience that firsthand.”

“Anew” will be available for streaming across all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, on June 19th, 2025. ​Orchestral blackened death metal outfit Vortex has emerged from the void with their most ambitious release with their next concept record “Alien Realms”, set for release on April 11th, 2025, alongside the first single “When Humans Defy the Void”. With this release, they also announce eastern Canada tour dates with France’s XAON for April followed by European dates in October and November. They comment on the single:

“This song is a melodic assault, blending thrash-driven verses, hyper-melodic choruses, and an epic finale, all immersed in grand, sweeping orchestrations. Set to release their first full length “Troubled Mind” at the end of March 2025 along with hitting the road across Ontario and Quebec (dates listed below), Toronto prog Derev is sharing their next single “Tides of Time” accompanied by a music video. The track showcases the distress of “cognitive immobility”, a mental trap that leads to an effort to recreate past incidents that one lived in the past. By doing so, the person attempts to retrieve what was left behind, leaving them stuck in a place that no longer exists in reality.

Drummer Michel Karakach shares:

“Leaving my hometown in Syria at the age of 25, after having built so many wonderful friendships, memories, and experiences was a struggle I never knew I’d have to deal with until I did. Finding myself reminiscing over and over about my past life inspired me to write about it as a form of therapy. I never knew this was an actual mental diagnosis until I did some research on it.”

While “Tides of Time” may sound simple and straightforward for first-time listeners, the truth is far from it. This song is filled with hidden gems and rhythmic intricacies that can only be caught by well-trained ears. It features a 7/8 time signature layered over a pulsing 4/4 backbeat, creating a mesmerizing polyrhythmic loop throughout. As the song progresses from a mellow, slow vibe to an intense, epic crescendo, a standout guitar solo seamlessly ties all the elements together. It concludes with the same bass riff that opened the track, forming an endless loop that mirrors the song’s central theme.

“Troubled Mind” is Derev’s first full length and second release to follow their 2021 debut EP “Leap of Faith”. Derev was conceived after founding member, and drummer Michel Karakach, after fleeing the war in the Middle East and finding refuge in Toronto, Canada, reunited with his best friend, guitarist Armando Bablanian to turn what was once a mere childhood dream into now a powerful reality.

“Troubled Mind” builds on the foundation laid in Derev’s first release, offering a diverse range of sounds from mellow, calm tracks to adrenaline-pumping heavy headbangers, while maintaining their distinctive progressive rock sound, enriched with Middle Eastern influences. Incorporating more prominent keyboard parts, experimenting with various time signatures, and introducing new instruments such as the Cajon, Darbuka, and electronic elements. This evolution showcases the band’s innovative spirit and commitment to pushing musical boundaries.

“While our debut EP tackled broad themes like war, technology, and injustice in the world, Troubled Mind shifts focus to the personal realm. We wanted to explore and articulate various mental states, the subtle thoughts, and inner dialogues that when nurtured and fed over time, makes us who we are. And while we offer some kind of resolution in a few tracks, the purpose of the album is to explore and highlight these different states of mind, rather than try to resolve them.” adds the band.

Derev‘s dynamic lineup now includes bassist Stan Komarovsky, providing the backbone of Derev‘s sound, and keyboardist Ran Zehavi from the progressive rock band Scalar, adding depth and complexity. Leading the live charge is frontman and vocalist Mike Symons to replace previous singer Adel Saflou who is featured on “Troubled Mind”.

Derev is a progressive rock band captivating global audiences with its innovative blend of progressive rock and traditional Middle Eastern music.

After fleeing the war in the Middle East and finding refuge in Toronto, Canada, founding member, and Drummer Michel Karakach reunited with his best friend, guitarist Armando Bablanian, to turn what was once a mere childhood dream into a powerful reality.

Derev’s debut release “Leap of Faith” melded the raw energy of hard rock with the rich textures of traditional Middle Eastern music they grew up with, offering a fresh perspective on topics often overlooked in modern music. This distinctive sound quickly caught the attention of both local and international audiences, propelling Derev into a series of successful shows across Canada.

The band’s dynamic lineup now includes bassist Stan Komarovsky, providing the backbone of Derev’s sound, and keyboardist Ran Zehavi from the progressive rock band Scalar, adding depth and complexity. Leading the live charge is frontman and vocalist Mike Symons to replace previous singer Adel Saflou who is featured on their forthcoming studio offering “Troubled Mind”. As Derev gears up to release their anticipated second album “Troubled Mind” on March 26th, 2025, they continue to carve out a unique niche in the music world. Halifax, Canada’s The Bloody Hell are back with their first taste of new music since releasing their sophomore album “Nobody Cares” in 2020. Entitled “Feel It Too”, the track is a peek at what’s to come from the Atlantic Canada street punks in 2025. The song’s lyrics were written by vocalist Ian Kean during the deepest darkest recesses of the Covid pandemic and quarantine that came along with that.

“Everyone was sitting around all day, wasting away, sinking deeper and getting more depressed. The only connection to the outside world was through social media, so everyone was posting their opinions and concerns all over the internet. It all seemed so lost and desperate. So that’s what the song is about essentially, how stupid everybody was acting during that time online, and although I would see countless bad takes and shitty opinions, I also felt confused, lost and hopeless. I felt it too. So I wrote this song as a way to make fun of or call out all the stupid things people were saying, but also to admit to myself that it was coming from a place of fear and uncertainty, and that I felt the same way. To say you’re not alone – I feel it too. This is the first single off our upcoming album entitled “Blood Code”, which we are currently in the process of finishing up and hope to release this summer or fall. This eight song album will be a big step forward for the band, we have added a new guitar player and the song writing has gotten much more interesting while still maintaining the simplistic catchiness of the previous two albums.” adds Ian Kean.

The Bloody Hell is what would happen if George Thorogood sang for the Misfits but all the songs were written by Tom Petty – Super catchy guitar rock songs about hardship and heartache played with intensity and passion, at punk rock speeds.

Since forming in early 2017 The Bloody Hell have gained a local following by tearing up stages with touring acts Propagandhi, DOA , Ripcordz , RayGun Cowboys and Heart Attack Kids as well as local favorites such as The Blackrats, Worst Part, Cluttered, Diner Drugs, Hitman and Orchids Curse.

2018’s self titled debut “The Bloody Hell”, went on to spawn 6 singles and music videos, and earned nominations for “Loud Recording” of the year at the 2018 Nova Scotia Music Awards and “Canadian Independent Music Video” Of The Year 2019 from Dropout Entertainment dot com.

When the global pandemic canceled all of the gigs The Bloody Hell had lined up for 2020 / 2021, it didn’t slow the creative process or forward momentum of the band. The Bloody Hell returned to Fang recording studio in Summer 2020 and Spring of 2021 to record their sophomore album.

In November 2022, “Nobody Cares” was officially released, from which three singles have been released thus far, each accompanied by a unique and thought provoking music video. The video for the second single “When You’re Gone” was recently nominated for “Canadian Independent Music Video” of the Year by Dropout Entertainment dot com. Our second nomination for this award in three years. The video for the single “Out of Our Minds” was also nominated for that award in 2019. The sophomore album has also earned a nomination from Music Nova Scotia for “Loud Recording of the Year” 2023 and has been regarded as a huge step forward for the band, by both fans and critics alike.

In fall 2024, The Bloody Hell hit the studio to work on their new album “Blood Code”, which is slated for release in 2025.
