Montreal Prepares For Thrash Attack! Piranha Pit Fest Announces Lineup Presented by Loudtrax

This coming May 12th, Montreal, QC will be host to this city’s first-ever Piranha Pit Fest presented by Loudtrax, the one-stop online shop for everything swag from the biggest names in Loud Music.

Piranha Pit Fest will feature headliners RAZOR, the Canadian thrash legends who have been recognized as one of the country’s pioneers of the metal genre. RAZOR released their ninth studio album Cycle of Contempt this past September, making it their first album in 25 years. RAZOR will also be supported by another legendary thrash band, New Jersey’s WHIPLASH, one of the first American East Coast thrash metal bands of the 1980s to inspire many who followed in their footsteps. Also joining the lineup is the 2023 Juno nominated (Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year) and international tour de force, Toronto’s high-flying heavy metal shredders SKULL FIST along with local Montreal moshers Warsenal and Drowning In Blood.

Piranha Pit Fest will be held at Piranha Bar 680 Sainte-Catherine St W, one of the city’s metal strongholds for extreme music events.

Western Canada’s decibel breaking festival LOUD AS HELL is proud to announce the 2020 line up for its ninth year of heavy metal and camping in the prairie badlands of Drumheller, Alberta. Roaring from the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds from July 31st to August 2nd, this year’s festival headliners over the 3 nights will include Denver’s extreme metal titans ALLEGAEON, Toronto heavy metal acrobats SKULL FIST plus brutal progressive death from Vancouver’s NECK OF THE WOODS. Coming off their recent Canadian tour dates with STEEL PANTHER, Canada’s masters of shred STRIKER took a short break from their “Summer of Shred” tour across North America to attend the 9th annual Edmonton Music Awards gala at the Winspear Centre on June 27th. The band was nominated for two awards Album of The Yearand Metal Recording of The Year, which the band won for their single ‘Heart Lies’ off their 2018 album “Play To Win”.

Thrashers HELLNITE are proud to announce they will be embarking on their first ever Western Canadian tour since band founder Paolo Belmar relocated himself and the band to Edmonton, AB from Mexico City. While setting up the band again in Canada, Belmar was backed by Canadian musicians, but for this tour, he will be joined by original bassist Luis “Chaps” Mora and drummer Mauricio Salas for the road adventures through the Canadian Rockies and Prairies. The six-date “Midnight Terrors Western Canadian Tour”, which is in support of the same titled album the band released earlier this via Sliptrick Records, will be kicking off in Edmonton on June 21st and ending on July 5th in Regina.

Each member had this to say about their first venture touring Canada.

Paolo: “I’m excited in general, not sure what to expect but I’m sure we’ll do our best. This is our first tour out of Mexico and having my old pals with me again makes me feel confident and I know we will have fun playing together as a band rather than just do it because I already started this and I have to finish it (as I was doing when the album was released), it feels really good to have the original lineup together again.”

Chaps: “I’m excited because it was a long time without playing with my best friends and doing this project together. We will put our whole hearts to make you feel the power of a Mexican Metal band.”

Mauricio: “To be honest, I’m nervous because it’s my first time playing in Canada but I’m pretty sure that every single night of the tour will be a night to remember! So, be prepared to feel the Mexican power!”

HELLNITE‘s debut release “Midnight Terrors” is lyrically a paranormal and sci-fi themed concept album with influences from classic heroes such as Kreator, Slayer, Death along with next-generation thrash and heavy metal such as Havok, Skull Fist. The album was written and recorded by founding member, vocalist, and guitarist Paolo Belmar who formed HELLNITE originally in Mexico City in 2010 and has now re-established the band Edmonton, Canada.

2019 is officially STRIKER‘s ‘Summer of Shred’ as they will hitting the road this summer for multiple North American tour dates with DEATH ANGEL, STEEL PANTHER, HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER. Their shredding adventures will begin in Oklahoma City, OK on May 14th for US dates with DEATH ANGEL followed by a headlining show for Calgary’s East Town Get Down Festival that includes Anvil. STRIKER will then support STEEL PANTHER for their Canadian dates from June 14th to June 25th and then kick off a short headlining tour from July 2nd to July 7th before joining HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’, which will invade 21 cities in USA and Canada from from July 12th to August 4th. Edmonton’s STRIKER will be hitting the road this summer for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’ with Holy Grail and Bewitcher. The 21 date tour will kick off in Phoenix, AZ on July 12th and wrap up in Los Angeles on August 4th (dates listed below). STRIKER is touring in support of their sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.

Thrashers HELLNITE are proud to present their debut mosher “Midnight Terrors” out now as of February 12, 2019, via Sliptrick Records. The full length is lyrically a paranormal and sci-fi themed concept album with influences from classic heroes such as Kreator, Slayer, Death along with next-generation thrash and heavy metal such as Havok, Skull Fist. The debut album was written and recorded by founding member, vocalist, and guitarist Paolo Belmar who formed HELLNITE originally in Mexico City in 2010 and has now re-established the band Edmonton, Canada with a live line up consisting of bassist Konnor Miskiman and drummer Ryan Payne.

Belmar adds:

“I have been working on ‘Midnight Terrors’ since 2014 when I lived in Mexico and I think it will be well received from people who are into oldies and classic metal. I’m proud to say that it is something that I made to happen by myself. I want to say thanks to everyone who joined me in this trip and put a piece of effort in order to bring this album to life, Hellnite will live forever AND the next album will be even better (I can’t wait). I hope this album provokes curiosity; my purpose is to catch people’s attention so they can follow the next movements of the band, which are going to be a little bit twisted in comparison with ‘Midnight Terrors’.”

Thrashers HELLNITE have unleashed their second single “Phantom Force” off their forthcoming debut full length “Midnight Terrors” slated for release February 12, 2019, on Sliptrick Records. The track refers to the term “paralyzed dreams” where a person is awake/asleep and their body is physically paralyzed, but their mind is conscious. It is also known as a term for those who are superstitious and believe the body can suffer a spiritual possession by an evil entity while being awake yet numb.

Vocalist/guitarist Paolo Belmar explains:

“‘Phantom Force” is basically about the fear of being possessed by that dark spirit. It represents that fight between you, your body and the spirit trying to possess it, the outro of the song is trying to achieve a progressive sound to compliment that sentiment.”
