Los Angeles progressive power metal band In Virtue has dropped another irresistible music video, “Desolation Throne”, in support of their long-awaited concept album “Age of Legends,” set to release on November 21st, 2025.

“Desolation Throne” is a sonic and emotional powerhouse, channeling the tortured ascent of Sisyphus to a self-made throne of darkness. Vocalist and songwriter Trey Xavier (founder of the website GearGods.net) delivers a commanding performance inspired by Symphony X’s Russell Allen, blending gritty cleans with metalcore chugging reminiscent of early Unearth and Killswitch Engage. The track’s bridge, Trey’s personal favorite moment on the album, dives deep into the character’s emotional insecurity and his destructive response to being misunderstood.

The video’s release marks a major milestone in a journey over a decade in the making. “Age of Legends” is more than an album; it’s a cathartic narrative of self-forgiveness, transformation, and rebirth. Inspired by the myth of Sisyphus, the album follows a flawed protagonist seeking redemption not from the gods, but from himself.

“It’s about releasing ourselves from guilt and regret, because until you do, you can’t do any good in the world, for yourself or anyone else,” explains Trey.

Musically, “Age of Legends” delivers a unified emotional journey, driven by thunderous riffs, infectious grooves, and cinematic layers that heighten the story’s most intense moments, not for show, but for substance. In Virtue’s signature sound, heavy, fast, melodic, catchy, and groovy, draws from influences like Soilwork, Amaranthe, Shinedown, Symphony X, and Sonata Arctica, yet carves out its own identity beyond genre conventions.

Born from a passion for power metal and a rejection of its fantasy tropes, In Virtue creates music rooted in real-world emotion, personal philosophy, and raw vulnerability.

“This album is the full realization of our sound. It’s a concept piece that casual listeners can vibe with, but those who dig deeper will find a flawed character fighting for self-forgiveness. It’s immersive, cohesive, and meant to be experienced start to finish, with headphones on and the world tuned out,” says frontman Trey.

The album’s artwork, created by Niklas Sundin (formerly of Dark Tranquillity), depicts Sisyphus breaking free from his eternal punishment, a visual metaphor for the album’s core theme of self-liberation.

Fans can immerse themselves in the world of In Virtue through the “Desolation Throne” video, an uncompromising glimpse into the soul of a band that refuses to play by the rules.

About:

Los Angeles, California’s In Virtue is a band forging a new path, abandoning outdated conceptions of what heavy music is to redefine metal for a new era. Although In Virtue was initially formed in 2004 in California’s Bay Area, the band’s rebirth in 2015 is where the real story begins.

That’s when founding guitarist Trey Xavier made the difficult decision to take over lead vocals, move south to LA, and start the band over with a new lineup. This was the catalyst they needed, and the band’s final form took shape. Adding keyboardist Alex Nasla (The Mourning, ex-Witherfall), guitarist Rami Khalaf, and bassist Jamie Hush, their new sound was freed.

“I was tired of other people singing what I was writing,” says Trey (who you may know from his popular YouTube channel). “We had some pretty good singers, but it always felt like a compromise. It was pretty scary – I was 28 and I had never seriously sung before. But all the work I put in paid off, because now I can create my music as I envision it.”

And what a vision it has become – the band’s forthcoming album Age of Legends, due out in 2025, tells a haunting tale of Sisyphean struggle and redemption through a modern lens. This new era of In Virtue brought their first new music, 2019’s single “Purgatory”, which gave the world a brand new sound. Combining elements of power metal, groove, progressive metal, and pop, but somehow sounding like none of the above, “Purgatory” defined the sonic future of the band.

The singles “Where The Edges Meet” and “Scream” followed soon after to expand on the story, each moving the story forward and bringing new life to the characters and their pain.

With way more to come on Age of Legends, In Virtue is looking forward to the next chapter and bringing their story to the world.

MARBLE GHOSTS Signs with Self Made Records L.L.C. / Earache Digital Distro For New EP “The Greatest Divide” Out May 23rd

Ottawa, Canada’s Marble Ghosts announces they have signed with Self-Made Records L.L.C. with digital distro from Earache Records for the release of their sophomore EP “The Greatest Divide” out on May 23, 2025.

“We are extremely excited to have signed with Self Made Records LLC. Even though we’ve only been working with the label for a short time, we have seen how closely the label works with bands and how invested they are in our success,” adds the band.

The band is a boundary-pushing ensemble known for its distinctive blend of metal, grunge, and punk influences. Emerging in 2023 onto the Canadian music scene with a distinctive sound and a fierce commitment to challenging societal norms, Marble Ghosts is a band with a message.

Their forthcoming second EP, “The Greatest Divide,” is inspired by our reality, from the ultra-rich and the shrinking middle class to widening gaps in political and religious ideologies that are beginning to challenge and even erode fundamental human rights. Similar to their first EP, these next five songs in their catalog highlight their diverse influences and styles and seek to lift the marginalized through powerful messaging.

With this release, the band asks, “Are you ready to cross the greatest divide?” It is the type of divide that has splintered friendships and even families, where viewpoints differ so greatly, that we can see one another as enemies- traitors. While this seems bleak, some of the stories told through the lyrics are inspired by people who have crossed the greatest divide. But this wasn’t without hardship, as it was often the threat of losing their loved ones, their mental health, and even their own identity that forced the change.

To date, the socially conscious quartet has shared two singles from the five-track EP “Distance Between” and “Eat The Rich”, which is accompanied by a music video that can be viewed at https://youtu.be/pfka0QU68ug

“Eat The Rich”, the song, is a statement of today’s political climate shifting to serve the wealthy or the “1%”. The video is a message from Marble Ghosts to the rest of us. It paints the picture of two massively divergent groups- the people who are struggling to hold on, the ones staying in broken, abusive relationships to avoid being homeless, and increasingly out-of-touch billionaires who could effect real, meaningful change with their bank accounts. Instead, the ultra-wealthy constantly seek more and more ways to enrich themselves.

Vocalist Dylan Gunnell explains further:

“This song ‘Eat The Rich’ is about the ultra-wealthy, and the great divide is clear with every billion added to their coffers while the people that enrich them through a broken system continue to suffer. While the chorus is metaphorical, the band also envisioned an alternate reality in writing the lyrics: our planet has been devastated by a zombie plague. The ultra-rich are waiting for a shuttle to carry them to Mars, but it malfunctions, and they are trapped. The undead descend on them, and they are torn to pieces by the horde, the horde that once worked for them, that kept capitalism strong, the people that made them rich. In that reality, their fair share will be paid with a pound of their flesh.”

Musically, “Eat the Rich” has a droning bass that mixes with soft yet acidic vocals in the verses. The long-held scream in the chorus gives way to harmony that grows increasingly layered as the song evolves, creating the perfect contrast. The dirty guitar solo blends into mocking laughter and then powers into a final chorus with three-part harmonies.

Their music is recommended for fans of Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Saint Asonia, and Three Days Grace.

Marble Ghosts’ sophomore EP “The Greatest Divide” will be released on May 23, 2025.

“Their sound is a unique blend of soft underscoring elements and heavy riffs.” – Decibel Magazine

“We are living in pretty divided times and this is explicitly displayed right from the get-go with the single “Distance Between” A strong opening, it is heavy, furious, and sets the mood for the rest of the record. An intense album you can listen to over and over and still find cathartic release of angst, anger and outreach. This is a solid brand of high-octane alternative rock mixed with an old school metal vibe. 8/10” – Metal Temple

“Marble Ghosts’ latest single, “Distance Between,” is a relentless blast of punk-metal energy that sets the tone for their upcoming EP, The Greatest Divide (April 4th). The track showcases the band’s unique ability to fuse aggression and melody into a seamless and high-octane performance. From its rapid-fire verses to its towering choruses, “Distance Between” never loses its intensity. The song’s razor-sharp guitars anchor the chaos and deliver not one but two blistering solos that elevate the track’s raw power. Meanwhile, the desperate screams layered over the final crescendo inject a tangible urgency that drives home the song’s message about the fractures in modern society. The song’s technical precision and anthemic qualities plus the band’s punk edge keeps the energy raw and unfiltered, evoking a battle cry to confront the growing divides in the world around us. “Distance Between” and Marble Ghosts prove they’re not just pushing genre boundaries. They’re demolishing them.” – Amplify The Noise

“We have been patiently waiting for a new cut from heavy masters’ Marble Ghosts and they have delivered. The new single “Distance Between” lands today and it’s a special one. The first single to be released from their forthcoming album “The Greatest Divide” (April 4th), “Distance Between” accomplishes what every band hopes to…a monumental track that separates itself from everything else. Driving riffs, top tier vocals, a punchy rhythm section and of course solo breaks that just take flight – Marble Ghosts are back and we’re thrilled they exceeded our ridiculously unfair expectations! Catch it on your Home for the Best New Rock… W-J-O-EEEE” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“get these guys in your ear holes” – Rock-N-Review

“When a band is said to be for fans of Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, this puts a lot of pressure on that band to live up to expectations, especially those of lifelong fan of all of those acts. However, Canadian’s Marble Ghosts have produced quite an exciting debut EP that’s made up of a mix of metal genres from metalcore and grunge to death metal. ‘Lie To Me’ has a heavy bass line intro before thick guitar riffs join in. This intensity is matched by the vocals, which seem to be drenched in emotion and this is what makes it a real must listen on the EP. Whilst the lyrics themselves don’t vary much, they don’t need to, because it feels like this track is about putting across a certain atmosphere rather than writing an epic tale. The band do delve into the political in ‘False Heroes’, where they question outdated thinking with such lines as “boys will be boys, all the while accompanied by an unsettling melody in a minor key. They use their own country’s history to influence this song, which the EP artwork and the band’s name are all linking together. 8/10” Powerplay Magazine UK

Marble Ghosts, the Canadian boundary-pushing ensemble known for their distinctive blend of metal, grunge, and punk influences, has announced their highly anticipated second EP “The Greatest Divide” set for release in May 2025. The band comments on the first, explosive single “Distance Between”:

“From the opening lyric of the EP, “Here we are in the greatest divide”, the songs explore the ever-growing rift between almost every part of modern-day society. From the rich and the shrinking middle class to widening gaps in political and religious ideologies, the EP was inspired by our reality.”

Musically, the single shows off its punk-metal roots, never relenting from beginning to end. The biting rapid-fire verses meet the band’s characteristic soaring choruses. The band shows off its guitar chops with a blistering solo that perfectly matches the song’s energy. The song crescendos with another feverish solo over top desperate screams.

The EP and the single are recommended for fans of Alter Bridge, Shinedown, and Saint Asonia.

“End Of The World completes the EP and no lie instantly had us drooling with its air of nagging menace veined by swarthy guitar lures and a tension of creative distraction, an imposing coaxing soon evolving into a full incitement of animated temptation and keen adventure. Grabbing favourite track honours in its greedy fists, the song prowled like a predator and roared with punk dissidence, aligning both to melodic and sonic drama.” – Ring Master Reviews

“Now we have reached our last mention, my number one recommendation for this week’s list of incredible new music from this website of ours. They have recently just emerged on the metal scene with a distinctive sound. I am talking about the Ottawa-based band Marble Ghosts. Unveiling their self-titled EP, showcasing five compelling songs that you can hear across all streaming platforms now.” – ZACH’S PICKS OF THE WEEK – MARCH 4 TO MARCH 9, 2024 – #1 Marble Ghosts – Canadian Beats

“Marble Ghosts deliver a visceral finale with “End of the World.” Reflecting a generation’s disillusionment with the idea of meaningful change and the realisation that their actions may have little impact, the song captures the band’s uncompromising attitude with distinct vocals and a cacophony of heavy and glorious sound. Marble Ghosts, the band and EP, defies hard rock stereotypes and delivers music that reminds us that it’s not all sex drugs and rock-n-roll, but sometimes it’s get up, stand up, rise up, and make the difference you seek.” – Amplify The Noise

“This band is ultra-impressive with razor sharp hard rock, soaring vocals and superior song writing that really makes one stop and take notice of their greatness.” – WJOE- Findlay’s Home for Rock and Roll

“C’est propre et même chiadé, peut être un peu trop à mon goût : il ne faut pas chercher ici un hard rock écrit au feeling la clope au bec et la bière, désaltérant plus qu’il ne faut ses auteurs ! On est sur une musique qui tient plus de groupes comme Breaking Benjamin ou encore Three Days Grace qu’autre chose.” – SoilChronicles

“Fans of 2000’s era hard rock, especially those who were listening to that music during the time period itself, will get the most out of Marble Ghosts’ self-titled debut EP. It’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where Breaking Benjamin, hot off the release of We Are Not Alone, would take this group out as an opening act. Same goes for someone like Alter Bridge when One Day Remains exploded off the success of single “Open Your Eyes.” – Heavy Music HQ

0 Canada’s MARBLE GHOSTS Drop New Video “False Heroes” For Debut Self-Titled EP Out Now!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 1, 2024

Canada’s MARBLE GHOSTS Drop New Lyric Video “False Heroes” For Debut Self-Titled EP Out Now!

Dropping their debut self-titled EP this Friday, March 1st, Ottawa, Canada’s Marble Ghosts are presenting their latest video for their track “False Heroes”, the second to last song on the release that is a sludgy verse mixed with a towering harmony-laced chorus and a powerful, thundering instrumental end.

Lyrically, “False Heroes” is aimed at the institutions of old and those who continue to prop them up. Originally titled Marble Ghosts, the name was changed when the band realized that it was the perfect name for the band itself.

They explain further about the song:

“In the current culture, where some believe we should return to a golden past, False Heroes counters that with a resounding NO. The song seeks to eviscerate male privilege, divisive hateful religious figures, but most of all, the ghosts of the past, still seen as trailblazers and nation builders. Inspired by the dismantling of controversial statutes worldwide, but specifically, the downing of the statue of John A. MacDonald, Canada’s first PM and the architect of the residential school system, False Heroes is a warning against romanticizing and celebrating figures whose mindsets were at their core harmful and led in many cases to abusive and criminal acts.”

Watch and listen to the lyric video “False Heroes” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

Recently emerging onto the Canadian metal scene with a distinctive sound and a fierce commitment to challenging societal norms, Marble Ghosts comprises a dynamic lineup that uniquely blends genres and generations, featuring a death metal drummer, an old-school metal bassist, a grunge-influenced singer, and a metalcore guitar player. This eclectic mix not only defines their sound but also underscores the band’s commitment to breaking musical boundaries.

Despite being a relatively new band, Marble Ghosts demonstrates a clear musical direction. Their first EP showcases five compelling songs that highlight their diverse influences and styles. As a band, they embrace generational differences, allowing their music to evolve organically as they grow more comfortable with each other.

Explaining the origin of their band name, Marble Ghosts draws inspiration from historical figures revered by some as pioneers and trailblazers but who also committed terrible crimes. The band seeks to call out the tradition that these effigies represent. Their music is recommended for fans of Shinedown, Saint Asonia, and Three Days Grace.

Marble Ghosts’ debut EP is due out on March 1, 2024.

0 Celebrating 35 Years of “Sledgehammer” Montreal’s VINYL HERO Pay Homage To Peter Gabriel With Creative Music Video

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 21, 2021

For fans Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, Big Wreck, Shinedown

Celebrating 35 Years of “Sledgehammer” Montreal’s VINYL HERO Pay Homage To Peter Gabriel With Creative Music Video

L-R – Costa Siarlis (Bass/Vocals), Ray Howard (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Tiburce Perlau (Drums, Vocals)

Thirty-five years ago on April 21st, 1986, Peter Gabriel released his video “Sledgehammer” from his album “So”. The video for this track was revolutionary, garnering it several awards and becoming an instant classic. Now, to celebrate this coral anniversary, Canada’s Vinyl Hero has covered the song and is releasing its own music video to pay tribute.

Watch here – https://youtu.be/8dVw–z605M

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3sr1i9n

Like Gabriel, Vinyl Hero strives to push the envelope when it comes to creativity in their releases. In their rendition of the video, Vinyl Hero uses high contrast simplicity to echo the artistic flair present in the original. The band explains their reasoning for choosing this song:

“This is a personal favourite of the band and has been part of our live set for a long time and through that time we have really made it feel like it was our own. We’re a rock band, a power trio, and we wanted to make our version sound like a rock band wrote it. It’s more of a rendition than a cover!”

Overall, Vinyl Hero creates music that is gusty, heartfelt, and deep, and every music lover with interests in different genres will appreciate the diversity that they contribute to every single song they produce. For them, creating music was never an issue but when push came to shove, they learned that there’s more to a successful and productive band than just a killer song. To date, they have released two EPs and a single. More will be on the way!

Even as a three-piece, they manage to bring enough ambiance from the intro to hard-hitting and sing-along choruses to make fans of the original and modern-day rock listeners alike throw some horns in the air!

Vinyl Hero is recommended for fans of Big Wreck, Shinedown, and KXM.

About:
Heavy and gutsy rock riffing served alongside palpable and unmistakable lead vocals!

The feeling you get when headbanging to a Vinyl Hero tune is best described as a Symphony of Synchronicity. Three different individuals with one main goal. Ray Howard and Costa Siarlis (founding members) had a couple of years to curate their songs and sound with different members and once drummer Tiburce Perlau was added to the lineup their overall sound hit a level that has become Vinyl Hero’s trademark sound!

No strangers to touring, Montrealer’s Vinyl Hero have been hard at work tilling the soil along the Quebec/Ontario’s 401; headlining venues in Montreal such as Club Soda, and playing important support slots to blues legends like Pat Travers, Stu Hamm, and Alex Skolnick at the towering Le National Theater. The band has been a fan favourite at Mont Tremblant’s Blues Fest and by way of consistent, steady, touring has built a vibrant and reliable following in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston, Kitchener, even as far away as Victoria B.C. along with numerous markets in their native province of Quebec. Vinyl Hero has graced Major Canadian Festival stages including Toronto’s Indie Week (three years running) and Nappanee’s VoodooRockFest. FM Radio spins include CHOM 97.7’s show Montreal ROCKS, and Oshawa’s the Rock 94.9 FM who have been ambassadors for the band in the greater Toronto area. Vinyl Hero was also nominated for Canada’s best independent Rock Video in 2018 by Dropout Entertainment and was named Montreal’s most popular vote for CBC’s Searchlight.

Their 2016 E.P. ‘Seven Days On A Train’ was released to great acclaim “Glam stomping, bratty tear away, excellent musicianship, ragged glory and scarves trailing all over the script” (Steve Swift – PowerPlay magazine UK)(Pure Grain Audio) “They crunch about that gravel path of theirs like there is no tomorrow .” (RockmusicRaider, Newsflash).

in 2020, Vinyl Hero released their single “VULTURES” recorded at Montreal’s #churchofrocknroll recording studio The Freq Shop ran by Dave Traina (The Damn Truth) and multi-instrumentalist Derek Orsi.

With influences drawing from Queens Of the Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, as well as fellow Canadians Big Wreck, Vinyl Hero has not placed its cross-hairs on adhering to a particular sound or bandwagon. The Montreal power trio is best described as Deep, Honest, Powerful, and True. Their ethos; to embody in music, humanity, living emotion, and the organic nature characteristic of music during the vinyl era, all while delivering smart arrangements with impactful dynamics and deft akin to power trios such as Nirvana and The Tea Party.

“Low and slow riffage from a Montreal three-piece that’s been making the rounds for the past five years or so. Good for fans of stoner rock. If Chris Cornell were still with us, he’d get a kick out of these guys. The singer kinda reminds me of former QotSA dude Nick Oliveri (except with his clothes on).” – Alan Cross

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 26, 2021

For fans Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, Big Wreck, Shinedown

Canada’s Vinyl Hero Shares Cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer”

L-R – Costa Siarlis (Bass/Vocals), Ray Howard (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Tiburce Perlau (Drums, Vocals)

Montreal’s Vinyl Hero is paying homage to one of the great English rockers with their cover of “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel. The song will be celebrating its 35th anniversary, as it was originally released on April 21, 1986. The band will also be commemorating the classic track with a music video to follow next month.

The cover version can be heard at the following links:
YouTube – https://youtu.be/qQer1Kn1UNw
Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3sr1i9n

Committed to breaking the mold of creativity and stretching the boundaries of what we all grew up calling “Good Old Rock n Roll”, the band pulls no punches when delivering bouncy, enthusiastic songs. The cover of “Sledgehammer” is no exception and is the first in a series of singles set to be released as they explain:

“We decided to release single by single. To make it easier for our fans to get to know us better and join us in the excitement after every single release. Fans should be expecting a bunch of new material for 2021.”

Vinyl Hero has established a distinct sound over the years and continues to release songs with a lot of soul, depth, tone, heartfelt lyrics, and powerhouse choruses. Along with this colourful reimagining of a classic track, the upcoming batch of singles will be a great representation of the band and the story they want to tell to their fans. Page by page, chapter by chapter.

No strangers to the stage, Vinyl Hero boasts an impressive live performance resume including multiple appearances at Indie Week in Toronto and Nappanee’s VoodooRockFest as well as touring across Quebec and Ontario. Their live shows are a continuous rollercoaster of entertainment from start to finish. They deliver high octane, fast-paced, honest, and real rock show. No bells or whistles, just three guys on one stage.

Vinyl Hero’s tunes are recommended for anyone who appreciates rock in all forms, especially fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, and Big Wreck.

Take A Glimpse Into Stark Reality With Abandoned Souls’ Video For “Blinding Darkness”

L-R: Derek De Kort (Guitar) | James Todd (Vocals) | Tom Dobrentey (Drums) | Reagan Thorne (Bass)

Canada’s Abandoned Souls released their powerful and emotional single “Blinding Darkness” on October 9, 2020 and now to complement it they are releasing a music video for it.

While most of the band’s music comes from a personal place, “Blinding Darkness” is especially meaningful to the band. It was written shortly after vocalist James Todd went through the heartbreaking experience of losing his mother. This is the first new music they have released since the last EP in 2017. The band explains the writing process for the single in their own words:

“We started tracking for Blinding Darkness towards the end of 2019. Then in early 2020 as we are all aware, the world changed. That put a huge wrench in our plans so, like everyone we had to adapt. We already had drums and bass tracked for Blinding Darkness. Derek recorded all his guitars at his home and sent me the tracks to re-amp thru his amp here at the studio. I also recorded all the vocals during the pandemic shutdown. Luckily, I own the studio and had lots of time to mix and refine the song during this time. It is the first release from the new Foundation Studio and we are super excited for everyone to hear it!”

Heavy and aggressive but not sacrificing melody, Abandoned Souls have been honing their craft since they started jamming as friends over a decade ago. Staying true to their sound, the video is uplifting and heavy and puts a positive spin on the dark subject matter.

Citing that it has been a long road to get to the point where they are at, Abandoned Souls is hoping the release of this single will tide fans over until the world gets back to a sense of normalcy and shows can begin again.

Hard rock n’ roll fans will take a liking to Abandoned Souls, especially fans of Godsmack, Three Days Grace, and Alice in Chains.

The video for “Blinding Darkness” can be viewed at the following link on YouTube.

The single is available for stream on Spotify and download on Apple Music.

About:

There is power in a band’s name, like a magic spell, announcing to the world what they are and what they stand for. ABANDONED SOULS summons up images of Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’, heroic outcasts rising up against impossible odds, to establish their own unique identity.

As vocalist James Todd explains:

“The name Abandoned Souls is in reference to all those people out there that have at one time or another felt like the outcast. That common bond and love for this music are what brings all of us Abandoned Souls together.”

Having played together for years, the bonds that hold ABANDONED SOULS together are… to paraphrase the mighty Judas Priest…Canadian Steel! Inspired by Alter Bridge, Alice In Chains, Metallica, Judas Priest, Godsmack, and Kings X, Todd describes Abandoned Souls’ sound as ‘powerful, heavy, rhythmic, melodic, personal.’

Abandoned Souls Cast A Light On Reality With Single “Blinding Darkness”

L-R: Derek De Kort (Guitar) | James Todd (Vocals) | Tom Dobrentey (Drums) | Reagan Thorne (Bass)

Canada’s Abandoned Souls will be releasing their new single “Blinding Darkness” on October 9, 2020 with a video soon to follow.

With the release of “Blinding Darkness”, the band is excited to share with fans their blend of powerful and personal music inspired by life experiences. For the year 2020, it’s absolutely the right song at the right time. The lyrics for this song were written shortly after James Todd’s mother passed away, and he channeled his thoughts during that dark time into the music. He explains the meaning of the song in his own words:

“The song is about facing the reality of death or dark times and dealing with it. It’s also learning to maneuver through the darkness and finding a way to be more comfortable within that space. To realize that you need to face it head-on sometimes and learn how to live and prosper from the experience of getting through these times.”

As the cliché goes, “there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.”, Abandoned Souls shows strength and pushes through, finding that light and marching towards it. Given the current state of the world, this encouragement to overcome obstacles is pertinent as ever.

Abandoned Souls have amassed a respectable discography since 2006 including four full-length albums and an EP. As their name partly implies, they write hard-hitting aggressive music that has melody. Consistently writing tunes with heavy replay value, sharing the stage with many well-known bands, and appearing at several festivals, Abandoned Souls knows how to write classic heavy songs that will linger in the minds of listeners.

Recommended for fans of hard rock including Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Three Days Grace; “Blinding Darkness” is available on October 9, 2020.

The single can be heard before it officially drops via its premiere on V13.net HERE.

About:

Since the band’s formation in 2015, CRNKSHFT’s engine has been firing on all cylinders setting their scene ablaze with their explosive, drop tune aggression with melody at its core.  They pride themselves on writing raw, emotional music and when they perform with zero fucks given, what you see is what you get…a leave it all on stage attitude that gets fans fists pumping, head banging and singing along to the band’s anthemic melodies. The band has already been tapped as local support for such touring bands as Prong, Lordi, Grim Reaper, and The Veer Union.

“”For those that like their music fast and powerful, this is the appetizer for you. It’s all kinds of mad power…an epic little album from a band that is close to conquering the universe… or at the very least, close to setting it aflame.” – 925 Rebellion

“Opener ‘Systematic’ will testify to this with punchy and growling riffs and equally growling vocals which somewhat draw you in and immediately your foots a tapping and your head is banging, as the air guitar sits proudly on your lap as you ‘Systematically’ scream and roar to the vocals which if you listen closer also have a story to tell.” – We Rock Webzine

“CRNKSHFT’s forthcoming release sells me on the group’s ultimate potential. I look forward to hearing what else this Canadian band can do. ” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Stomping drop tuned leads, soaring vocals and hard-charging grooves litter the lead single, a formula that pays off in spades on the riff-tacular “Tears Me Apart,”” – Get Exposed Music

“these guys have a running start to the hard rock scene, and if their message and sound stays in their current vein, there’s no denying that this band will put a crankshaft kick-start to this year’s list of burgeoning, fantastic new artists.” – Shockwave Mag

“the four tracks are full of grunge influences and a killer  metal delirium that will capture your heart ,and ignite your mind. “Systematic” kicks the release off in fine style ,with its bludgeoning , punishing riffs its easy to see why this was the band’s first single, the lead guitars strings are flayed as the guys will have you banging your head and bouncing around the room this is a stylistic killer opener.” – The Metal Meltdown
