NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 3, 2022

Voodu Announce Crushing, Varied Debut Single “Pictures” Off Upcoming Album

Voodu is an American modern metal band from Los Angeles, USA. They got started during the pandemic, and now, with their debut album in the works, they are excited to introduce themselves to fans. The first look at who Voodu is comes through the groove-oriented single “Pictures”. It starts on a thick bassline and builds up from there before exploding into the song’s main riff. It dynamically bounces between quieter verses and explosively loud choruses. No part of the song is identical to another. Every verse, chorus, and the bridge is different in one way or another. The band shares their thoughts on the release:

“Pictures came from a place of confusion and despair. In its composition, the sense of spiraling into disarray and apathy before being consumed with anger and angst came naturally in its progression. We joke that it’s as “prog” as we get, between the verse starting on the 2 of a 4 count and chorus starting on the 4, the meter change from 4/4 to 7/4 in the bridge, and the key change at the end. While the song is far from “prog”, in many ways those elements fit in the song’s composition in a way we didn’t realize made total sense. They catch you off guard the same way the lyrics allude to being confused between what’s real and what’s made up. It is both a cry for help and an apathetic plea of defeat. The push and pull between “help me” and “leave me alone”. It’s begging to be numb or ambivalent to the pain caused by the confusion and doubt of one’s own self or the world around them.”

The forthcoming yet-to-be-titled album is a high-energy group of songs that are meant to walk fans through a vast range of emotions. Even the slightly slower or more emotional songs still have heavily distorted guitars and melodically aggressive vocals. It covers a wide range of subjects from feelings of self-doubt, toxic relationships, people who abuse power, the duality of human nature, and addiction. Voodu hopes that their first offering will resonate with people on a visceral level, in a way they haven’t heard before.

Chick full of a wide assortment of influences, Voodu makes music that will appeal to a wide audience. One of the bands they cite is Linkin Park, who introduced them to this kind of music. It’s the comparison they get most often, due to similarities in voice and the electronic element. Thus far, they have made fans out of the most dedicated of metalheads, as well as the “I don’t usually listen to heavy music” people and everyone in between. They are especially recommended for fans of Rammstein, Linkin Park, and Alice In Chains.

About:

Projekt F was founded in 2006 by Jonh M. Miller, lead singer and main composer of the band. Inspired by rock/industrial/metal music of the 90’s, Projekt F quickly made a name for themselves in the underground music scene of Montreal. Miller was joined by William Hicks (bass) in 2010, Simon Sayz (guitar) in 2013, and Fred Linx (drums) in 2014.

Their first EP named “0000” saw the light of day in 2009 with 500 physical copies made by the band being sold out in no time, and more than 1000 digital copies downloaded. Continuing to evolve in the Montreal Industrial scene, the band accumulated a large number of shows across the Province of Quebec and Ontario with their musical originality and their intensity on stage. In 2012, the band was invited to play alongside Combichrist at the biggest industrial music festival in Canada, Kinetik Festival, and a second time when Combichrist returned to Montreal. During the last few years they have shared the stage with international bands such as Motionless In White, Revolting Cocks, Angelspit, Nachtmar, Dope, Left Spine Down, Slaves on Dope, New Years Day, For Today, Ice Nine Kills and have played festivals and events in Canada and the United States.

Projekt F has also had the opportunity to do a performance of their song “Room 13” in a TV pilot called “Cause and Effect” (produced by Vaas Media). Their song “Oophorectomy” is also featured in a short movie called “Purple Love” (produced by Les films de la meute), featured at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Projekt F released their fourth album in March 2016, ‘The Butterfly Effect’, to ongoing rave reviews.

New EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’ Out Now!

Upcoming Dates:

June 19 – Katacombes – Montreal, QC (GothFest) – info

Montreal industrial monsters PROJEKT F have posted a new video ‘Unbegun’ in support of their recently released EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’. The EP is their loudest release to date featuring seven pinnacle tracks for your auditory senses discussing the torrid relationship between man and God to continue their thematic discography ‘Skins’ (2013) and ‘Under The Skin’ (2014).

”We consider ‘The Butterfly Effect’ to be an extremely raw and honest EP. Early in the process of making it, we knew that we would not be making a music video for it. However, we thought it was important to give something to our fans. So we decided to make a video that would show a side of Projekt F that hasn’t been seen before. Like the EP, a raw and honest one. Many of you have seen our “on stage persona” before, but with this video that we have made for our single, “Unbegun”, we are sharing a different side of ourselves.” comments vocalist Jonh M. Miller.

Montreal Industrial Monsters PROJEKT F Unleash New Single ‘Tongue’

New EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’ Out March 4th

Perfecting their industrial brand of rock/metal, PROJEKT F bring the heat on their loudest release to date with ‘The Butterfly Effect’ that discusses the torrid relationship between man and God. The EP is a continuation of their thematic discography ‘Skins’ (2013) and ‘Under The Skin’ (2014) and features their latest single ‘Tongue’, which is now streaming at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDZ8kDSbneM along with the release being available via iTunes, Friday, March 4th plus supported by a mini-tour of Quebec and Ontario performing the following dates below.
The band comments on the release:
“The concept of ”The Butterfly Effect” is based on Chaos Theory and how can things be and yet not be. Each song on the EP is the same song, but written at different moments, situations, and unfolding in various ways. Our single, “Tongue” is man talking to God, desiring forgiveness, and cutting off his own tongue in order to unite with and be one with God’s voice. Living in this folly, forming an endless loop of self-mutilation, each of the songs represents a different version of his destruction.”
‘The Butterfly Effect’ EP Tour Dates:

March 5 – Quebec City, QC @ La Source De La Martiniere
