Toronto’s Anthems In Ashes are premiering their second music video on PureGrainAudio.com, this time for the sassy and soulful single “Her Fire” off the 2017 EP “Burn it Down”. It’s a fun, energetic song with catchy melodies and lyrics with a true distorted rock and roll sound blended with a diverse range of vocals encompassing metal, punk and hints of soul. This well produced and artistic video brings fire to the genre, staying groovy and adding a sexy and heavy flair to it.

Vocalist Harley Olivia shares why it is her favourite song to play live:

“We chose “Her Fire” as a single because it demonstrates both our catchy groove and our heavier sounding elements, particularly with the vocals. I like the dichotomy of the soft, pretty sounding vocals descending into guttural monster screams. It’s a great balance of pretty and ugly.”

About:

What started as two brothers and their best friend getting together for some freestyle jams and demo recordings in 2005 soon evolved into enough written material for two EPs and the birth of a new full-blown band, Blind Race, in 2007.

Drawing inspiration from their love of fast cars and the intrigue of driving them blind, as well as modern-day racial issues and the idea that we are all the same, the award nominated (Toronto Independent Music Awards: Best Live Metal Act Nomination (2012), Best Metal Act Nomination (2010)), Blind Race arrived at a name packed with meaning to match its melting pot sound.

Putting emphasis on musical identity and creativity, the then Toronto four-piece released Seeing Red in 2008, unleashed Lost in 2012 and grew to a five piece that is now ready to unveil its third EP, Come and Get It.

Going back to raw, air thrusting, 7-string powered tracks such as “Come and Get It” and “Hypocrite” to eastern influenced charismatic progressions in “Truth or Dare” and Latin derived contrasts of “Hopeless”, this EP is just the tip of the iceberg, which is the diverse style of Blind Race. All the music in this EP was written using a very simple philosophy by guitar player Costas Kentros. Just play what you feel. “With the initial riff of each song, the gates just opened and the music flowed out and created a statement for each song.  From love to hate, to truth or dare, standing your ground and those times when you just want to kill the pain with a bottle of Jack.  These songs cover our most common situations and emotions.” says Kentros.

“Blind Race blast out sustain driven and acoustically inspired slabs of no nonsense rock, heavily influenced by 90’s masters but embed with a new energy that make them deserving of a massive following”  – Spenny Bullen

“a great connection with the audience at the Velvet Underground. The crowd got really engaged in the concert when Blind Race played their metal cover version of Elvis Presley’s ”Hound Dog;” a fine version spiced up with a little bit of heavy guitar and double pedal bass drums.” – Toronto Metal Music Examiner (Live Review)

The band recently completed their third UK tour entitled the L.A.R.P. Tour (The Live Action Rock Performance Tour) this past August in promotion of their new album‘721835′ released on August 1st that was recorded by fellow science-fiction aficionado Al Jacob (He is Legend, A Skylit Drive).

Here’s a tour recap the band posted recently on PureGrainAudio.com – http://puregrainaudio.com/reviews/double-experience-exclusive-summer-2014-uk-tour-recap-from-guitarist-brock-tinsley

About:

Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy.       Releasing their new album ‘Eyes And Ears’ on October 7th, Vancouver, BC’s QUARTERED returns to the spotlight to follow up 2010’s ‘Walk Like A Ghost’ that took the band on multiple Canadian and international tours, one of which saw them playing with Lamb of God and Testament at the 2010 Pulp Summer Slam festival (held in Manila, Philippines). The first single off the new release ‘Violent Love’ is now available as a FREE download for fans on PureGrainAudio.com at the following link: http://puregrainaudio.com/audio/quartered-violent-love-free-song-download.

“Violent Love is a song that hits you in the chest. It’s hard hitting with an emotional undertone of a past soured relationship. Not only is it an intense song musically but also emotionally.  As people we can all identify with the feeling. We felt it was important to come back with a song that people can relate to on a personal level.” comments vocalist Greg Williams.

Quartered’s focus has always been on conveying moody emotion and mixing heavy grooves, experimental riffs, and hook-laden bridges to paint a picture with lyrics that tell a story while keeping one major goal in mind: longevity.

With their last two full-length albums, The Falls of Autumn and Walks Like a Ghost, produced by Ben Kaplan (worked on projects with Mudvayne, Chevelle, Alexisonfire and Rise Against), the progressive metal band is ready to unleash its third record, Eyes and Ears co-produced by Royce Whittaker .

Album Length: 34:06

In additional news, Quartered will be performing at this year’s third annual Rain City Throwdown presented by Denyss McKnight of Crowsnest Productions and Cariboo Brewing at the Rickshaw Theatre on Sept 27th in Vancouver, BC alongside bands Take The Earth Beneath Us, The Body Politic, Wolfborne, Drop The Hate. Full details can be found here.

“Rain City Throwdown was an event born out of support for the local metal scene.  With a lack of mediums for bands to gain exposure, this was a no-brainer. An event for us by us.  One night of the year where we showcase Vancouver talent.  This event has given the local heavier acts a chance to perform together for one night, on one stage, for the fans. See you at the front, bring them dancing shoes.” comments vocalist Greg Williams

Show Dates:

Sept 27 – Vancouver, BC – Rickshaw Theatre (Rain City Throwdown)

About:

Thanks to a group of high school friends fusing their influences into one cohesive sound and the flip of a coin to help choose between band names, Vancouver progressive metal band Quartered’s moniker has certainly given itself meaning over the years.

Inspired by bands like Deftones, Tool and Thrice from early on – Quartered’s focus has always been on conveying moody emotion and mixing heavy grooves, experimental riffs, and hook-laden bridges to paint a picture with lyrics that tell a story while keeping one major goal in mind: longevity.

Following multiple Canadian and international tours, one of which saw them playing with Lamb of God and Testament at the 2010 Pulp Summer Slam festival (held in Manila, Philippines) and two full-length albums, The Falls of Autumn and Walks Like a Ghost, produced by Ben Kaplan (worked on projects with Mudvayne, Chevelle, Alexisonfire and Rise Against), Quartered is ready to unleash its third record, Eyes and Ears, on October 7th

Heavily influenced by “memories and how senses play a big part in connecting and helping us remember parts of our lives,” the title Eyes and Ears was chosen because “you can’t un-see the things you’ve witnessed and hearing is such a powerful way to trigger memories,” explains vocalist Greggor Williams.

“Their intense brand of progressive metal is what’s lacking in music today, the real deal….Quartered is, hands down, one a a very few select bands in this country that will go somewhere.” – Danger, 99.3FM The Fox (Vancouver, BC)

“Their live show has the energy of Alexisonfire, while their music reminds me of early Deftones. They are definitely one of Vancouver’s top 5 heavy bands.” – Christian Aldred, Rednyne Productions (Vancouver, BC)

“…put them on stage – as in their upcoming CD release performance at Vancouver’s media club – and they’ll win new converts with their sheer impassioned intensity alone.” – Peach Arch News (Surrey, BC)

“Quartered has an amazing history and accomplishments. On tour constantly and having tracks on Rockband are only a couple of great things this band has done… Great refined sound of a modern hard rock band. Elements of prog rock mixed in with metal to create a blend tastes which just flow into ones ears. Catchy hooks and sick riffs rekindled my love for Quartered as they blew away the crowd. Using boxes crafted to house lights to shoot up at them as they played they looked and sounded amazing. I could see Quartered rock a small venue, a theatre or even an arena and you would still get such an intimate feeling with such a personable band. ” – Hammer Records (Live Review)

“The perfect blend of brutality, melody and catchy hooks made for the perfect metal storm. Self described as progressive, Quartered never let the energy fall below maximum during their entire set. Through the constant tempo changes, occasional time signature madness and swift vocal style change ups they were proving that hype means nothing when all you’ve got is talent and the ability of writing a great and memorable metal song. So many bands, even seasoned veterans, lack stage presence but Quartered could write a how-to book on the subject. Engaging and attention grabbing, these guys know how to put on a show. Its not very often you see a band live, hearing them for the first time, and there is not a single thing to complain about. There is just something so intriguing with their hybrid sound of “Alive or Just Breathing” era Killswitch Engage and the progressive flair of Tool. With the peaks and valleys woven into their sound it keeps all eyes on stage at all times and all ears forever open, and that is something the night had been missing.” – Metal Underground (Live Review)

“Somewhere along the inspiration of other Canadian screamos Alexisonfire, see for yourself by listening to their newest single “Casa”” – Vancouver Music Review.

“Screamo modern metal with a complexed progressive edge is what I call this style of music from Vancouver based hard hitters Quartered.” – Fireworks Magazine

‘Walks Like A Ghost’ is an album packed with the perfect mix of heaviness and melody, creating songs that contain elements of progressive metal, post-rock, metalcore, and in some short instances; alternative doom.” – Metal Underground

“They are not only one of the most talented bands I have had the honour of working with but are flexible, easy to deal with and I have never received anything other than the best reviews from venues that have hosted them with multiple requests to have them return again.”- Leanne Harrison, Sin Agency

Ottawa, ON video game rock nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE has teamed up with PureGrainAudio.com for the premiere of the latest track ‘Here’s Y’ from their forthcoming album ‘721835′ recorded by fellow science-fiction aficionado Al Jacob (He is Legend, A Skylit Drive) in North Carolina.

“Here’s Y is the biggest departure from our formative years as a band, but we’re really happy with the end result. There’s just something strangely satisfying about an eerie little pop song that essentially runs down a list of the reasons why you disappoint so many people. That being said, I believe my generations better years are still ahead of us, and hopefully this song – with a little tough love – can help that transition.” comments guitarist Brock Tinsley.

“Though this won’t be our first time touring in the USA, each show we booked was in a city or state we have never played before. We’ve already compiled another list of dream locations to visit based on the Food Network, too.” comments bassist Tim Kealey.

August 1st will see the release of their new album ‘721835′, a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy.       Ironstorm’s Thrash-power-speed metal album ‘Wrathwind’ officially releases today (April 22)!

“After what seems like eons of bring meticulous throughout writing the material for Wrathwind, we are excited to reveal the pinnacle of our musical careers to date. We are extremely proud of the blood and sweat that was shed, painstakingly ensuring that the album is super organic, and we feel that it’s a breath of fresh air into today’s overproduced music.” – Tyson Travnik (Drummer)

Ironstorm will be showcasing in Calgary, AB on Friday, April 25 at Lord Nelson’s with support from Bloodreich, Shrapnal, Samandriel and in their hometown of Edmonton, AB on Saturday, April 26 at The Starlite Room with support from Bleed, Mortillery, Gatekrashor. For further event details, please visit the following link: http://artistdata.sonicbids.com/ironstorm/shows/

Wrathwind, which was engineered and mixed by Travnik in his own professional studio, Excalibur Productions, was mastered by Andy Larocque of King Diamond/Merciful Fate at Sonic Train Studios and is available in a number of formats, from digital download to floppy disk. Yes, floppy disk.

“The term ‘originality’ is pitched by every single band on the planet, but how many of them can you listen to, and immediately list other bands that sound just like them?” That was the question posed by Edmonton thrash-power-speed metal quintet Ironstorm upon its inception and the inspiration behind its hard to pinpoint sound.

As one of the few female-fronted speed metal bands in Canada, Ironstorm delivers “a dynamic feel, ranging from modern, fast double bass sections to rhythmic yet melodic guitar work to more retro mid-tempo power metal,” says drummer Tyson Travnik.

“As one of the few female-fronted speed metal bands in Canada, Ironstorm delivers “a dynamic feel, ranging from modern, fast double bass sections to rhythmic yet melodic guitar work to more retro mid-tempo power metal.” says drummer Tyson Travnik.

Ironstorm’s debut EP, Wrathwind will feature six tracks highlighting the band’s “energetic, organic, melodic, passionate, powerful” sound. Wrathwind was engineered and mixed by Travnik in his own professional studio, Excalibur Productions and was mastered by Andy Larocque of King Diamond/Merciful Fate at Sonic Train Studios and will be available in a number of formats, from digital download to floppy disk. Yes, floppy disk.
