About:

THE CHRONICLES OF ISRAFEL is the solo project of guitarist/vocalist Dominic Cifarelli (former guitar player for Pulse Ultra (Atlantic Records)). It was born during a very uncertain and difficult period leading up to the breakup of Pulse Ultra in 2004. Many late night solo jam sessions combined with the constant viewing of violent Japanese Anime movies helped form the sound of the sometimes brutal and very dark first concept album “Starborn, Tome I”. The album was written to focus on the main character Israfel in his search for a new home and self-discovery. ‘Starborn’ was released in June 2007 through Bridge of Hands Entertainment, an independent arts label dedicated to the development and the distribution of original art.
After its release, a hiatus from TCOI was taken due to demand for Cifarelli’s guitar talents requested for many other projects that included a stint in Los Angeles, touring with Scars on Broadway that featured Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan of System of a Down, a collaboration with Lukas Rossi on the single “Headspin” that is featured on the album “Rockstar Supernova” starring Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted, recording guitars and bass for Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2012 release “Change My Mind” plus performances on French platinum artist Zaho’s debut and sophomore albums, two guitar solos on a Rush tribute album released by Magna Carta, which featured Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Mike Mangini (Dream Theater) and Stu Hamm (Steve Vai. Other highlights in Cifarelli’s career include a featured guest guitar appearance with Cypress Hill and Travis Barker at the annual Smoke Out Festival in San Bernardino, CA, which also featured Incubus, Living Colour and Manu Chao plus guest performances in 2013 with Chevelle in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel and Taproot at the Whiskey in Los Angeles.
Now fast forward to 2016, nine years after ‘Starborn’ is released. TCOI is reborn beginning in 2014 with new material being written and released as singles / music videos during 2015 and early 2016, which is then followed with a handful of warm up shows in preparation for the official release of Cifarelli’s follow up and sophomore album ‘A Trillion Lights, Tome II’ due out October 15, 2016. The album features 13 tracks of progressive songwriting blended with incredible guitar riffs and symphonic piano rounded with melodic vocals for a cinematic music experience.

“Wow, once in a while an album comes along and just smacks me in the fucking face and completely floors me. The Chronicles of Israfel has done that. I mean I was speechless for a week and didn’t know how to put into words how to review this.” – The Dirty Room

“The songs on this excellent, 13 track, album come to this reality from a million points of creativity. Some parts of the album are driving and antagonistic while other parts are soul wrenching and personal. Songs like “In Ruins” and “Greet The Sun” are exactly the sort of songs you need to start your day off a type of bang! no matter the occasion.” – 925 Rebellion

“The crowd bubbled, jumping with the beat like water coming to boil. The band had an engaging, evocative style. Listening to it gave me that special release that only comes from metal. It feels like a cross between shivers down my spine to the beat of a powerful metronome.” – Montreal Rampage – Live Review

“This prog metal album is a great effort by a talented guitarist and composer Dominic Cifarelli. I have high hopes for The Chronicles of Israfel. They draw heavily on the great prog and thrash metal bands that have come before them.” – Slickster Mag

Formed in 2011 as a jam project by three fellow music students, the group has gone on to release several singles and EPs independently, while having the opportunity to share the stage with great metal acts like Protest the Hero, Intervals, Black Crown Initiate, and Mandroid Echostar. The group pride themselves on their infusion of multiple musical styles into hard-hitting riffs, epic choruses, and technically intense passages. Soaring melodies, guttural growls, and destructive breakdowns flow into soft, slow, and pensive segments of jazz and rock. Their compositional method, where songs are conceived, written, transcribed, and edited before they are ever learned or rehearsed, adds a level of refinement and fluidity not always found in heavier music. The band do almost all of their engineering work themselves, but have also worked with several talented producers. Their first EP T (June 2014), comprised of four previously released singles and one new song, featured the mixing and mastering handiwork of Gino Bambino (Novallo) and Justin Hill (SikTh). Their single Resurface (December 2014) was handled by George Lever (Burials).

About:
THE CHRONICLES OF ISRAFEL
is the solo project of guitarist/vocalist Dominic Cifarelli (former guitar player for Pulse Ultra (Atlantic Records)).

Fredericton, New Brunswick five piece progressive metal band TACTUS will be unleashing debut full length ‘Bending Light’ on October 7th. The album features ten outer limit prog tracks produced by the band with mixing and mastering by Jamie King (Between The Buried In Me, Paradise Lost, Scale The Summit) to follow their previously released EPs ‘ins(T)rumental’ (2015) and ‘T’ (2014) plus singles ‘Enigma’ and their metal cover of The Police’s ‘Roxanne’.

The band has teamed up with DjentWorldwideTV for the premiere of their third single ‘Aurora’.

Check it out! at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kSdHSdFuZw

The band comments on the track:

“Aurora is the first full song on Bending Light. We wanted to kick the album off with something fast and heavy to get the momentum going, and we started writing Aurora with that purpose in mind. We loved the first few riffs so much though that we just kept writing more and more, and it evolved into one of the longer and more progressive songs on the album.”

The album is available for pre-order at the following links.

The band comments on the track:

“Goliath is one of the longest song’s we’ve ever written, and it actually went through the most iterations and re-writes of any song on the album. We think it captures some of the more progressive spirit of Bending Light, and is a great reflection of the directions in which we want to push our music in the future. We were beyond honoured to have incredible guitarist and our good friend Didier Archambault of Cardinals Pride put the cherry on top with the first guitar solo on the track.”

Fredericton, New Brunswick five piece progressive metal band TACTUS have teamed up with New Noise Magazine for the premiere of their first single ‘Scimitar’ off their upcoming debut full length ‘Bending Light’ due out on October 7th.

The band comments on the track:

“We chose ‘Scimitar’ to be the first ambassador for ‘Bending Light’ because even though it’s shorter and more accessible, it still showcases some of the weird progressiveness of the album. It’s consistently fast and upbeat plus as one of our favourites to play, we thought it was a great way to introduce everyone to the new Tactus.”
