Toronto-based metal messiahs DECATUR will be unleashing their debut album “Badder Than Brooklyn” produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira on October 6th, 2017. Named after their very own street of dreams in New York, where they recorded their debut album at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn, DECATUR get their unique sound by being opened-minded, not just to each other in this band of brothers, but to different genres, not just of metal, but also the blues, rock ‘n’ roll and even pop. DECATUR’s criteria if it’s good, they can make it better! They focus on evolution not devolution. There is no fear of DECATUR repeating themselves musically; for them…the world is not enough. They see themselves as intrepid explorers, never playing it safe, always looking for new lands to conquer, and in the process drawing on creative powers they never knew they possessed.

Their debut album is all-killer, no filler! It doesn’t hide behind its production; it compliments it. These are truly songs of power and empowerment, a clarion call for strength in life’s battles…healing through headbanging. From the power shredding of “Into The Night” and the storytelling of the album’s title track “Badder Than Brooklyn” to the brutal beat down of songs like “Bottled Inside” and “Internal War”, DECATUR feel modern metal has lost its way and they’re here to provide the roadmap forward to the future!

Teaming up with New Noise Magazine, DECATUR are premiering their first single “Into The Night”.

Vocalist and guitarist Jay “Beard” Sarrazin explains:

“This song has deep meaning for us. As a band that constantly tours and pushes to not only play live, but play in as many cities as possible, this song is almost an anthem for us. The song kicks off with lyrics that say ‘riding through the darkness, back into the night again. 3am in winter, lights become your only friend.’ These lyrics are a depiction of everyday on the road for us, playing cities and then driving through the middle of the night to get to the next city. The song also has a powerful message of not giving up on our dreams or ourselves. Because we feel most comfortable in our lives while on the road and playing every day, it’s a therapeutic experience for us.”

They see themselves as intrepid explorers, never playing it safe, always looking for new lands to conquer, and in the process drawing on creative powers they never knew they possessed.Vocalist and guitarist Jay “Beard” Sarrazin comments:

“We put a lot of effort into writing real songs and putting out a real album that hopefully touches a broad fan base. Our goal was to make sure that not only every single song had been thoroughly thought through, but that it was given all the attention and passion that we truly felt they deserved. We honestly feel like metal has lost its way a bit and we were set on writing something original and not following the trends of today such as low tunings, aggressive growling and perfectly lined up music and sound. We focused on the realness of ourselves and wanted to produce something that wasn’t always perfect and was as real and as honest as we could be. We did not need or want to hide behind production. We wanted our raw talent to be caught and portrayed to everyone. Our goal was to produce something from the soul, not from the computer.”

Live, DECATUR lays down molten metal for their masses with years of touring experience from their previous bands Caym, Burning The Day, A Sin For A Prayer, this local super group is hungrier than ever and excited to show their dominance as a force to reckon with in the Canadian metal scene and soon worldwide.

“We pride ourselves on a high energy, hard-hitting live performance. We are not like most bands that stand there and stare at their instruments. Playing live is almost like a healing process for us and we need to play with a significant amount of power and energy to portray the songs in the right way and give them the respect they deserve.  We want our fans to come for an experience not just a live show!” says Sarrazin.

About:

Hailing from the frozen tundra of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is a band of metal marauders. A group of 5 each marking a point on a pentagram.

In the summer of 2015, guitarist Jonathan Hayward started forming a band that would be inspired by the great classic shredders of decades past. In a time and place where metal had become a sort of melting pot, a band slowly emerged and each member came together to turn back the clocks and rediscover the roots of heavy metal. That band would become what is now known as Dark Messiah.

Hayward recruited a drummer, a bassist and a rhythm guitarist and together their started to craft their sound that would make the band. On recommendation from the drummer, Stephen Chubaty was given an audition to become the vocalist and main lyricist to give voice to what Dark Messiah would become.

The band jumped onto the scene quickly. A very established bar that had been around about as long as rock n roll itself “The Zoo” announced it was closing. Jonathan and Stephen had never played the iconic venue before so the band set out to try and book a gig. Even though the group did not have a name yet and had barely been off the ground for a month, they decided to push forward.

With the gig fast approaching the need for a name was getting frustrating. In a conversation with a friend Hayward was asked what kind of band he was trying to help put together. “A classic metal inspired band, but one different than anyone else. a band that would bring back what once was.” He said. His friend responded with “Kinda like a chosen band.” as a joke. “Yeah but an evil one. Like a….dark messiah.” the name was solidified and the gig was officially booked.

In preparation for this goal the band worked hard together to make the show happen. Conflict and personality clashes led to the band’s first bassist to quit. They found a replacement to join the band a mere 12 days before the show. With original parts written and personalized by each member Dark Messiah took the stage.

In the end it was deemed a success. The band would go on to play more shows throughout the next couple of months but also had some more lineup changes. Lawrence Reimer was brought in to play rhythm guitar as the first member had to follow a different path. Lawrence’s drive helped push the band to it’s next level. Perfectly balancing the already established sound.

The band was shook to the core when it was forced to use the services of a fill in drummer due to unforeseen circumstances.

Even with all these issues arising the band never cancelled a show and never missed a beat. They eventually recruited the naturally talented Robert Schau on drums. A few months later the band was forced to once again replace a bassist right in the midst of recording. Lagg Walker joined the band and helped finish the E.P. The release debuted at #4 on Reverbnation for metal in Winnipeg and the next day made it to number #2. Now the band is stronger than ever and has their eyes set on touring throughout Canada in support of the EP come summer of 2017.

“This beast (Razor Blade Regrets) is a mid-pace rumbling steamroller pierced by shattering, acid-spewing shrieks and wild howls, and following a bridge, it punches into destructive nail-gunning mode as well. Heavy-grooved and battering, it’s an infectious, high-energy track.” – No Clean Singing

“Bringing a groove side of heavy metal and death metal, Nuclear Oath is giving you a punch and a dance with their new song and NSFW artwork ‘Razor Blade Regrets‘” – Musicology

“They were super professional from start to finish when they filled in on short notice for a show we had a cancellation on, including playing a wicked set of modern thrash that the crowd responded to big time. Would book them again. I’ve also played them on the air and will play them again on the podcast too. Thumbs up from CC Getty!” – C.C Getty (MetalHeads United)

“Nuclear Oath are a tight , high energy act with a professional attitude and good stage etiquette (in terms of set-up, tear down) and I’d be pleased to recommend them for a slot on Armstrong 2017” – Joshua Wood – CJSW – Megwatt Mayhem / Metal-Rules.com

“I really enjoyed working with Nuclear Oath when I booked them in Edmonton. They have an energetic and terrifying live show and great attitudes! They had an incredible ability to read the crowd and really cater the show to fit what the audience wanted. I would happily book them again and again.” – Cara Ashbey (Odessa Management)

“Hard as fuck no bull shit metal” – Mark Russell (Calgary Beercore/ Citizen Rage)

“Intense live band, wicked songs with a high energy sound and stage performance that the crowd can really get into. They treat their band as professionally as they can and are very easy going guys who are fun to work with.” – Nate Reno (Calgary Metalfest)

Sludgehammer is a five piece Canadian metal band formed in 2013.  The band began with guitarist Jeff Wilson and drummer Fernando Villalobos jamming together, which quickly resulted in writing songs and searching for a full line up.  Their search led to vocalist Chris Szarota, who possessed an astonishing vocal ferocity and bassist and vocalist Dan Ayers, who passed the audition as a bassist and also revealed a golden voice.  Thus, the first incarnation of Sludgehammer was formed.

The four members worked hard over the next few months to put together a demo, which was released at the band’s first gig on November 22nd, 2013.  The demo was well received even though it was completely self-recorded and the gig offers kept on coming, along with new fans.

With the success of the demo, the band knew that it was time to step things up and hired producer Christian Anderson for their 2014 release, ‘Organ Harvester’.  During the writing sessions, the band decided that Chris and Dan should share vocal duties for this record, as Dan’s voice had been absent from the demo.  The dual vocals proved to be a force to be reckoned with and on August 11th, 2014 ‘Organ Harvester’ was released to rave reviews.

‘Organ Harvester’ gained both new fans and better shows, gathering serious momentum and solid name among the metal community.  However by 2015, after playing many gigs with the ‘Organ Harvester’ material it became very obvious that the fans were hungry for more.  The band began writing more songs for the next release and kept playing gigs, which led them to guitarist Tyler Williams.  Tyler was working as a sound man at the Atria in Oshawa, ON where Sludgehammer was playing, and after their performance, Tyler approached the band.  They set up a jam and in July 2015, Tyler Williams joined Sludgehammer.

The new five piece line up produced a much fuller sound as Jeff and Tyler began working together.  The old songs were given new life and badass new material was being written for their next release, titled ‘The Fallen Sun’.  The new songs featured dynamic vocal performances from Dan and Chris, mind bending guitar solos, heavy riffs and blistering drumming.  As the songs started to pile up, Sludgehammer discussed recording a full length album.  Tyler suggested that they record at his studio, Monolithic Productions.  The band set up shop there and unleashed ‘The Fallen Sun’ on June 10, 2016.

“Sludgehammer brings its “A” game on its debut full-length release, The Fallen Sun. Sludgehammer doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional death or groove metal box, as its diverse elements sets it apart from its peers. Its 11 tracks (including two bonus tracks) are decorated with hooky riffs, catchy choruses and a perfect clean/growled vocal combination…There are many memorable moments on The Fallen Sun and for an unsigned band, Sludgehammer possesses loads of potential. Highly recommended!” – Bravewords

“This is how gifted SLUDGEHAMMER as a band is, even with only a demo, EP and now LP under their belts. On their own, they’re a devastating DIY metal band. With a contract in-hand, they’re gonna become unstoppable.” – Blabbermouth

““Demons From the Woodwork”. It’s a jolting, high-octane, full-throttled romp that incorporates elements of thrash, death metal, and head-slugging groove — and it’s an infectious beast that Sludgehammer have unchained.” – No Clean Singing

“Sludgehammer have a great way of infusing groove into their sound. Not nearly enough of that in death metal these days” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown – Michael Livan

Now the band is stronger than ever and has their eyes set on touring throughout Canada in support of the E.P. come summer of 2017.

About:
DEMISE OF THE CROWN
run the gambit from melodic power metal to hard rock weaved together with soaring solos reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen with undertones of Yngwie Malmsteen. The band’s sound has developed from progressive to a heavy metal band that has a pop format structure to the music in order to lure people into the realm of metal. Through many years of playing music with different people in the Montreal scene and slowly forming the official line up in 2014. Each member have spent their time paying dues in the local community and have banded together with the same goal and vision for a band determined to shake the foundation of power metal.

Guitarist, Manuel Iradian writes all the music, then handed off to Kevin “Kevy Metal” (drummer) to dress up each song with his high-speed, galloping rhythms, finally, Darren Beadman crafts the anthemic lyrics rousing crowds to chant along with an anarchistic frenzy. Each song is rooted in all basic human emotions; anger, lust, depression, happiness, death and revenge.

Influenced by headliners like Nevermore, Avenged Sevenfold, Opeth, Pantera, and Faith No More, the band is working their way up the royal blood line to cause chaos right alongside their heroes. They have performed with iconic bands like Hellyeah, Devin Townsend Project, 3 Inches Of Blood, Katatonia and Firewind.
