NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 28, 2020

Rockshots Records: Greek Power Prog BLACK FATE Release Music Video “Maze”

New Album “Ithaca” Out Now!

Greek power prog Black Fate is sharing with fans their new music video “Maze” in support of the new album “Ithaca” released on October 23rd via Rockshots Records and Rubicon Records in Japan.

The band comments about the song:

“‘Μaze’ is one of the most representing tracks for “Ithaca” and Black Fate in 2020. It has one of our favorite guitar riffs and one of the most catchy choruses in the album. The middle section shows our atmospheric and progressive side. With haunting melodies and vocals, delicate keyboards, and a technical yet very melodic solo, Maze is one of our favorite songs in ‘Ithaca”‘.

Watch the video at the following link on YouTube.

With their heartbreaking world-class vocals, catchy hooks, and lyrics, along with crashing guitar riffs, haunting melodies, and furious technical and melodic solos, Black Fate continues to satisfy bands with the release of their 5th studio album. “Ithaca” was mixed and mastered by Steve Lado and follows full-lengths “Between Visions and Lies” (2014) (Ulterium Records), “Deliverance of Soul” (2009) (Asiral Records), “A Piece of Dream” (2002) (Secret Port Records), “Uncover” (2001) (Secret Port Records).

The band comments on the release of “Ithaca”:

“‘Ithaca’ is melodic, technical, and groovy, but also a bit dark. It has beautiful and strange melodies with powerful emotions. We believe it’s an album for all kinds of metal audiences. We hope the fans will see it the same way. We see ‘’Ithaca’’ as a very integrated album. Fans who have followed us over the years will also notice many changes in the songwriting process, we concentrated to find the best form and the best overall result for every song.”

About:
Black Fate was formed in 1990 in Larissa, Greece, and introduced themselves to the metal world with two demos ’’Black Fate” and “A Piece of Dream’’ with great praise.

A decade after establishing themselves and a few lineup changes, the band debut the 2000  full length “Uncover” via Secret Port Records, and two years later their two first original demos were also released together under the title “A Piece of Dream”.

After a short hiatus, the band returned in 2009 with their next offering “Deliverance of Soul’’ via Asiral Records.

Then in 2014, the power melodic metal band switched up to a new line up featuring vocalist Vasilis Georgiou, guitarist Gus Drax from UK bands Biomechanical and Sunburst, bassist Vasilis Liakos and drummer Tsintzilonis Nikos. The new line up recorded the album ”Between Visions and Lies” released by Swedish label Ulterium Records in 2014 along with the label re-issuing in 2016 the band’s re-mastered 2009 album ”Deliverance of Soul” along with new album artwork.

Then in 2019, the band recruited keyboardist Themis Koparanidis and Black Fate hit the studio to record their 12 track epic “Ithaca” that was mixed and mastered by Steve Lado and now scheduled to be released via Italian label Rockshots Records for October 2020.

Black Fate is inspired by the giants of their genre (Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Kamelot, Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Dio, and many others) and look forward to showcasing their blend of melodic progressive power metal in the next chapter of their two-decade career.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 28, 2020

For fans of Arkona, Korpiklaani, Windir, Nightwish, Turisas, Skyforger

Protokult Announce Toronto Album Release Concert w/ Limited Capacity Due To Covid

November 15th at The Rockpile

New Album “Transcending The Ruins” Out Now!

L-R: Dawid (Bass), Kaveh Afshar (Percussion), Ekaterina (Vocals, Woodwinds), Martin Drozd (Vocals, Guitar, Synthesizer), Jack Neila (Rhythm and Lead Guitar)

Protokult have been defining folk/pagan metal since 2009 when they released their debut album “Ancestral Anthems”, since then they have created three additional uncompromising and relentless albums with their fifth “Transcending The Ruins” recently released on October 1, 2020.

In celebration of the new full length, Protokult announces they will be hosting their album release concert on November 15th in Toronto at The Rockpile with guidelines to follow from the province and the city’s rules on events, which includes an all-seated event with a capacity of 50 along with masks enforced in common areas. Full details on the event and instructions to respect health precautions for Covid can be found HERE.

The band adds:

“We know times are crazy and artists the world over are feeling the grip of COVID regulations. We decided to release the long-overdue album for your enjoyment! If you reside in the Greater Toronto Area, we invite you out on the 15th of November to celebrate the release at the Rockpile. Standard regulations will be in place so first come first serve. Stay safe. Remember, Rock and metal will NEVER die!”

Over two years in the making, “Transcending The Ruins” is a rush, meant to be enjoyed either as a whole journey or at any entry point, the band ensures. Approaching this record with a bit more maturity and consistency, the result is heavier, faster, darker.

Inspired and fascinated by various metal genres alongside folk-culture, after a few years of experimenting, Protokult was meant to fuse the two together while paying homage to the past, Bacchanalian festivities, and honouring the underground.

For fans of Arkona, Korpiklaani, and Nightwish, the record pulsates from start to finish yet incorporates the massive dynamics, ambience, and dashes of folk-melodies that the band has become known for.

The band comments on the full length’s release:

“‘Transcending The Ruins’ is an album about growing up and tipping our hats to the great metal influences of the generations. Some can say the industry has been shaken hard and is in a state of flux so as artists we try to outdo ourselves on every performance and transcend what the popular or common standards may be. Everyone is playing on the edge of their ability and no matter whether you listen from start to finish or dive in randomly, that energy and sincerity are everywhere. This is Protokult on speed all the while putting on a professional face, which makes it the most consistent and rewarding album to date.”

“Transcending The Ruins” is available on Bandcamp (CD), Spotify, Apple Music.

EPKAbout:
As interests in history, paganism and folklore took an increasingly strong hold on folk metallers Protokult, they were inspired to unleash their debut album, “Ancestral Anthems” in 2009. With the first two pressings selling out in months, they vowed to take things to the next level while continuing to deliver a unique mix of Canadian and international influences. In 2011, they released their next offering, the EP “Marzena”, then followed by sophomore album “No Beer In Heaven” that was widely praised for its hooky fun-loving anthems, especially the single “Get Me A Beer!”.

Protokult’s goal? To unite its members’ diverse cultures into one sound, balancing tradition and folklore with heavy, thrash, and black metal for headbangers everywhere.

Over the past few years, the ever-evolving Protokult has graced the stage with the likes of Arkona, Turisas, Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Tengger Cavalry, Cellar Darling (X-Eluveitie) and Razor.

With beauty and the beast-like contrast between Ekaterina’s haunting vocals and the band’s metal rampage, they are ready to unveil their third full-length “Transcending The Ruins”, which is slated for release on October 1st, 2020. The album captures the reformed quintet at an all-time high, showcasing an impressive palette of powerful riffs, glorious onslaughts, and essentially reminds us, why we love heavy metal and it’s darker atmospheric shades.

– 30 –

“they’ve got a good sense of humor, and they sound top-notch” – Metal Sucks

“boozy blast of heathen prog” – Team Rock

“Le metal a du talent.”  – Metal France

“a superb album. Protokult gives folk-metal a new nice dimension. Their progressive folk-metal approach is a very delicious one. Don’t let the ‘beer-titles’ fool you, the band goals are far beyond beer-humpaa. They’re far more serious, despite of the sometimes quite merry tunes. This is one of the best folk-metal albums I’ve heard this year” – Folk-Metal.nl

“Let’s mark the list down, shall we: Awesome Folk music spanning different areas of sound and direction, check! Creative and art work based around an old fashioned beer hall, check! And last, but certainly not least, BEER themed music!!!!.” – Metal Temple

About:
Anthea is a melodic, symphonic metal band from Los Angeles, CA. The band aims to create coherent yet diverse cinematic, theatrical metal music.  With a combination of clean operatic vocals and black metal like screams, Anthea’s music can appeal to a wide variety of metal fans.

In 2015, after spending much of his time writing new music, Diego Valadez (Cellador) met with drummer Peter Vasquez (Angel Sinestro). The two decided to form a band, giving an outlet to the material that was already in the works. They recorded their first demo under the band name ‘Anthea.’ This was accomplished with the help of some very talented studio musicians filling in for bass, guitar, screams, and additional vocals. While recording, Anthea had been simultaneously searching for permanent members and was soon joined by guitarists Juan Pina and Marcos Mejia, as well as bassist Eric Guerrero.

– 30-

“Guitarist Juan Pina’s screams and Valadez’ clean vocals kept the dynamics interesting and brought out the extra push for something unique in comparison to what you would normally find in the majority of symphonic metal acts.” – Metal Assault

“The band aren’t afraid to heavy things up if they deem it necessary for the advancement of the song, meaning that The Anthea (Demo) is a varied and satisfying listening experience.” – Sentinel Daily

“The band went on to be named as first-place winners on the night. When their name is announced, the crowd screams in appreciation.” – Spectrum News 1

Music Video – https://youtu.be/rO02419CN-Y
Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3jcraB6

Packed with five amazing lead vocalists, Peter James Goodman (Conquest, ex-Virtuocity), Jukka Nummi (ex-Myon), Emily Leone, Tomi Viiltola (ex-Dreamtale, Perpetual Rage, Viilto) and Matti Auerkallio (Katra, Manzana, SoulFallen), “Virtuality” is a unique storyline about the virtual world, and the dangers of sharing everything in social media, along with up-tempo power metal songs combined with darker elements.

Ultimatium‘s mastermind Matti Pulkkinen comments new song:

Protokult’s Streaming New Album “Transcending The Ruins”

New Album “Transcending The Ruins” Out October 1st, 2020

L-R: Dawid (Bass), Kaveh Afshar (Percussion), Ekaterina (Vocals, Woodwinds), Martin Drozd (Vocals, Guitar, Synthesizer), Jack Neila (Rhythm and Lead Guitar)

Protokult have been defining folk/pagan metal since 2009 when they released their debut album “Ancestral Anthems”, since then they have created three additional uncompromising and relentless albums with their fifth “Transcending The Ruins” coming out on October 1, 2020.

Before “Transcending The Ruins” officially releases, the band have teamed up Bravewords for the album’s exclusive full stream HERE.

“Transcending The Ruins” will be out on October 1, 2020. Album pre-order on Bandcamp.

Montreal, QC – September 10, 2020

For fans of  Symphony X, Dream Theather, Stratovarius, Queensryche, Nightwish

Rockshots Records Signs Finland’s Ultimatium For Upcoming Album “Virtuality” Out Nov 27th

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of Finland prog power quintet Ultimatium for the release of their upcoming album “Virtuality” due out on November 27th, 2020.

Ultimatium was birthed out the deep forests of Suomussalmi, Finland. Their 4th studio full length “Virtuality” follows their independently released “Vis Vires Infinitus” (2015), “New Dawn (2004, Mastervox Records), and Hwainoo (2008, Mastervox Records).

The premise behind “Virtuality” is an introduction of a storyline of four gamers getting stuck in a virtual reality game in a near-future setting. Each vocalist guest has their own, distinctive role in the story and drummer Matti Auerkallio sings the role of the villain (clean & crunch). The story album is backed up with lots of background vocals, sound effects and a “narrator”/system voice synthesized with Amazon’s Alexa.

The album introduces the best parts of power and progressive metal combined, including easier up-tempo songs, but also long, progressive mid-tempo tracks. The songs take influence from such bands as Stratovarius, Dream Theater, Symphony X and Rainbow. Especially on tracks “Digital Tower” and “Ghost of Yesterday” where influences from Ronnie James Dio and Ritchie Blackmore are easily heard.

The band adds:

“‘Virtuality’ keeps Ultimatium moving towards more progressive atmospheres without completely forgetting the roots of the band. Packed with five amazing lead vocalists, a unique storyline about the virtual world, and the dangers of sharing everything in social media, along with up-tempo power metal songs combined with darker elements. The full length is a dramatic experience that should be listened from the first track to the last and will be a must-listen for all theme album enthusiasts.”

Ultimatum will be revealing three singles in the coming months leading up to its official release on Rockshots Records on November 27th.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 20, 2020

For fans of Kamelot, Wintersun, Nightwish

Rockshots Records: Anthea Announce New Album “Illusion”; Streaming First Single “Moirai”

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of Los Angeles’ Anthea for the release of their debut album “Illusion” due out October 23rd, 2020 to follow their independently released 2017 self-titled EP.

Creating coherent yet diverse cinematic, theatrical metal music with many influences from film scores and established metal acts such as Kamelot, Nightwish, and Wintersun, Anthea offers up a gothic symphonic progressive sound that can appeal to a wide variety of fans with their range from clean operatic vocals to black metal like screams. Anthea have shared the stage with bands such as Smile Empty Soul, September Mourning, Helion Prime, Graveshadow, Abigail Williams, and many more.

The band comments on the release of “Illusion”:

“We are so incredibly excited to finally be releasing our debut album!  We especially want to thank Roberto Giordano and Rockshots Records for giving us the opportunity to release this record under their label.  Years of dedication and perseverance have gone into making the band what it is today and we are stoked to see it all paying off!  So much work and passion were put into the making of this record and we are extremely proud of the end result!  What we hope to achieve is to give the listener a vast cinematic and theatrical experience so that by the end, they feel like they have just gone on this epic journey with us. A huge thank you to all of you who have supported us throughout the years, and to those of you who are just finding us for the first time!”

Anthea‘s first single “Moirai” features guest vocals from Chiara Tricarico (Sound Storm, Moonlight Haze, ex-Temperance) and is a track that was written to capture the beauty of life itself.

The band adds:

“We all tend to focus on our own little bubble, without really thinking about how everyone that ever was, is, and ever will be is connected in the grand scheme of things.  To truly express this idea, we decided to include a second vocalist on the track from an entirely different part of the world.  Italian symphonic metal singer Chiara Tricarico was up to the challenge and we are thrilled with the end result!  Her voice added a beautiful new dimension to the song.  She truly understood what the song was all about and what we were going for.”
