CONQUER Offer Free Download ‘Hell’s First Born’ From Upcoming EP ‘A Worms Demise’, Due Out Dec. 2nd

Unleashing their self-produced debut EP ‘A Worms Demise’ on December 2nd, Canadian blackened death metal band CONQUER are offering fans a second FREE download of the release with their track ‘Hell’s First Born’ at the following link here.

“‘Hell’s First Born’ is one of my favorite songs to play. It represents the constant duality between good and evil. It’s from the point of view of Archdemon who is born from darkness and sees the ideals of Heaven as unjust and feels as though the fallen angels have been given a raw deal. Musically it will appeal to fans of bands like Morbid Angel, Angelcorpse and Black Witchery.” comments vocalist Devlin Anderson.

The Oshawa, ON based band was originally created by vocalist Devlin Anderson as a one man black metal project, which has now grown to a full onslaught of blackened death with an influence of thrash featuring drummer Simon Oukhine, Ryan White on crushing guitar in the vein of classic Celtic Frost influence along with ex-Left Hand Creation bassist Rob Holden and his extreme groove.

1. A Worms Demise (5:23)

2. Hell’s First Born (4:59)

3.  God Is The Destroyer (5:43)

“From the very first riff of the opening track, Not Like Me, you can enjoy their traditional Hard Rock with a huge Heavy Metal influence, something like a mix of Led Zeppelin and Alice In Chains, which is reinforced by the 70’s/80’s Rock N’ Roll vocals by singer/guitarist Everett Mason. It’s a nice song for headbanging, with the final part of it being totally awesome, especially the guitar solo and the accelerated drums.” The Headbanging Moose

“This is metal in its purest and untouched glory. Everett Mason (guitar, vocals), Galen Weir (bass), Kevin Daliri (guitar) and Chris Avalos (drums) are already masters of their craft…mind-blowing, from the shear awesomeness of the first track: “Not Like Me”, to the last seconds of the title track “Dethrone the Crown”. It is like having sex on a bed of marshmallows while being licked by kittens. It makes me happy, and I cannot stand to be happy! They are kicking asses and have taken names, I’d even venture so far to say that they have beaten Metallica at their own game. And all the rock Gods of whom the foundation of metal was built better watch out…“Killing Time” is instantly infectious, “Fighting Dirty” has shades of proggy groove, “Harmonica Playing Man” has a beautiful eloquence, and “Dethrone the Crown”, with its sharp-edged brutality, could be King Joffrey’s anthem (Well…, before he was poisoned). Side note: I have been lucky enough to receive the lyrics to these songs, and they are poetic perfection…Dethrone the Crown is thrashy, melodic, and addictive with inspired vocals and crisp riffs. Laugh at the Fakes understand how to craft catchy songs without sacrificing heaviness.” – Metalholic

“Adroitly blending prog-metal, thrash and melodic hard rock these lads from Canada have created a release that deserves to be heard from start to finish. The album’s opening four tracks make for a perfect introduction to what LOTF are about, encapsulating all of their influences in finely crafted songs that belie that band members’ relative youth.” Metal Nation Radio

“Everett Mason has a fantastically melodic voice, and plays a mean riff too, Galen Weir’s bass playing deserves mention too, very much in the Jason Newsted/Steve Harris vein, which is as it should be. There is also a pleasing thrash metal influence, which is appropriate, as the thrash movement got a lot of inspiration from the NWOBHM (Venom, Diamond Head, Tank and more). Overall, Laugh At The Fakes have got great songs, great chops, and a great sound of their own, superb production too. Awesome, and they deserve to be heard! Loudly!” – Hellbound“Right away Laugh At The Fakes hits you right in the face with their brand of Heavy Metal. Showing no mercy when it comes to over dubs they lay it all out on the line and even prove this theory when you see them play live. If you think this album is killer and you may question the killer riffs, then you have to see these guys live to prove your theories wrong. I have seen Everett a few times live now and I’m telling you right now that what you hear is what you get live.” Kingston Music Reviews

“One thing I like about Laugh at the Fakes is their ability to build intelligent thrash metal parts into their songs, for example the whole second half of Death Awaits which would make Death Angel envious… In other words, the Toronto band knows their metal history very well, and is convincingly able to balance it with a heavy dose of rock. There are other subtle influences injected here and there, for example the prog elements on the brilliant “Fighthing Dirty”, one of my highlights on the album; and the band is able to top this with remarkable catchiness, for example the lead guitar section and chorus in “Got No Regrets”. Produced by Greg Dawson and mastered by Andy VanDette (Rush, Dream Theatre, Bruce Dickinson, Deep Purple), Dethrone the Crown has a massive profesionnal production that pushes barriers and suggests that LATF has the foundations to play arenas and other big venues. This is serious stuff to chew on.” – Metal Made In Canada

“you will find rich melodies combined with the rich metal sound that will take you back to your head banging days….Some of the most noticeable metal sounding tracks on the whole album where you might just catch yourself head banging- are that of “Death Awaits” and  “Fighting Dirty.” Alongside these tracks, the title track of “Dethrone the Crown” throws catchy rifts, along with showcasing the skills of drummer Christopher Avalos, continuing to draw you into the album from start to finish…Dethrone the Crown is no laughing matter. This album offers something for everyone that enjoys rock music including the older generations who feel that the music from the childhood is no longer existent. Get out there and see what they are about.” – The Front Row Report

“I like this band because I never know quite what to expect…Particularly interesting are the slightly high-pitched and melodic vocals. There’s almost a Triumph-like vibe at work here (remember Triumph?).I think that fans of classic metal played with a contemporary twist will enjoy this one.The title track—”Dethrone the Crown”—is well worth a listen. “Killing Time” is also very strong.” Sea of Tranquility

“Take the Scorpions’ voice and put it to a heavier Alice in Chains sound and shake it vigorously. What comes out are the sounds of Laugh at the Fakes. Listening to this band is like listening to all the colours of the seasons; sitting and hearing the different tones and changes pulls me into the song as it sits beside me and revolves around my brain. These Toronto guys show us that the new generation of metal is no joke.” – Horror Metal Sounds

“It’s a delightfully refreshing sound moving between the old Audrey Horne, a bit of Mastodon and moderated

Megadeth. Danko Jones shimmers through here and there and the lightly flair of NWOBHM hovers above all but

apart from that the guys are doing their own sound. Fucking awesome guitars work magic rocking riffs beeing sometimes hardly shredding somtimes light-footed. But above all the whole thing sounds smart and considered on their independence. That is why Laugh At The Fakes is in contrast to the majority of bands in this days and age. Everything sounds solid and isn’t produced to be on the safe side. The vocalist also knows what he is doing and creates awesome hooks with his pipes.

Conclusion: One should keep an eye on this combo. I wish them success and I hope we will listen to more music of Laugh At The Fakes in future because they could set the world on fire. Next time they get the fully 10 but for know we should beware of praising them too high, hahaha!” – Metal Only

“The first thing that comes to mind when listening to this album for me is, ironically, head banging, because that’s what I was doing as I listened to it. The entire album keeps up the ante and definitely doesn’t get boring. My favourite songs from the album are “Death Awaits”, “Fighting Dirty” and “Harmonica Playing Man”. They all are very strong in every aspect; vocals, lyrics, bass, drums, guitar… basically all of it works together really well. For people who are into the classic rock bands and still love today’s metal will really enjoy this album. It is perfect fit to any playlist for people who are fans of either of these genres.” – Canadian Beats

“It’s like they are a hard rock band that likes to explore their thrashy-side too. I love it because I enjoy the catchy melodic vocals but at the same time I can bang my head pretty seriously too. You don’t hear albums like this one very often, if at all. I can’t really think of anything that comes close to being like this album as a whole. ”- Rock Music Critic

“I’ll admit, I laughed at the band name when I first heard it, but these guys are no joke.” – Gruesomeviews.com

“Laugh At The Fakes debut EP One Night Only proves that Melodic Vocals still can reign supreme in Metal albums.” – Kingston Music Reviews

“The first attraction to hit the stage was Rock/Metal band LAUGH AT THE FAKES, from Toronto, Ontario. Those guys play a nice mix of Rock N’ Roll, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, very old school but with a more polished sounding, and they surely entertained everyone already at Hard Rock Café before 9pm.” – The Headbanging Moose (concert review Indie Week 2014)

ARBITRATOR Post New Track ‘For That Which May Appease Lions’ Featuring Drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted)

Robert Kukla  – Photo Credit Paul Keely

ARBITRATOR is a project that began in late 2010 as the brainchild of Robert Kukla and officially debut in 2011 with the EP ‘The Consummate Ascendancy’ with former drummer Corey Chernesky. Now, determined to release a full-length to top “TCA“, Kukla on rhythm guitar, bass and vocals has wrote the band’s first album with a whole new arsenal of musicians that includes drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted), Myles Malloy on lead guitar and Connor ORT Linning for programming. The planned 2015 release will be entitled ‘Indoctrination of Sacrilege’ and was produced bySacha Laskow (ex-Divinity, Every Hour Kills), mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) along with album artwork done by Colin Marks (Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Jeff Loomis).

The first track ‘For That Which May Appease Lions’ from the forthcoming 2015 album is now streaming at the following link below.

“‘For That Which May Appease Lions’ is quite possibly one of my favourite tracks off of the new album. Dark, ‘Resident Evil’ style passages compliment sections of blistering blast beats performed by the skins-king himself, Dirk Verbeuren. It is a track that is as dynamic as it is brutal, and certainly not for those that shy away from the radical nature of the progressive genre.“ comments Kukla.

Guitarist Mike Decker comments:

“To be able to do what you love is reward enough. For people to buy and like your music is even more special. To be nominated for one of the best Quebec metal albums in 2014 is more then we could ask for. It was not our intention to do anything but to put out a CD that was true to ourselves and music that we would want to listen to. After 2 years in studio self producing/printing/packaging and finding the best possible people to side ourselves with for promotion and press, we did it. It has been anything but simple, but nothing that you love truly comes easy. The reward, if any, is that much more meaningful in the end. We wish the best of luck to the other nominees and will push the limits only further on our future endeavours. To our fans we say thank you, Stay Real, Stay Strong and do not let that light of yours burn less bright, as you never know when yours will lead the way.”

Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.

About the band:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of Hate, BornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.

“Montreal’s BornBroken simply go for the throat and never let up. Their debut record The Healing Powers of Hate is a no holds barred punch to the face. Combining the aggression of Lamb of God with the riffs of Pantera makes for a modern day polished metal release. A concept record based around mankind’s ability to overcome adversity and rise up against it, the message is powerful and thought provoking.” – About.com – Heavy Metal – Drago’s Dungeon: June 2013 The Month’s Best Unsigned Heavy Metal Bands

“BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken. Their latest album, The Healing Powers of Hate, is the perfect combination of heavy meets melodic and combines what you’d hear from Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Five Finger Death Punch into one powerful, melodic, fist-pounding metal experience. There’s not one dull moment here and any metal head should at least check this album out. Rating: 8.5/10″ – TheFrontRowReport

“These extreme metallers have done an amazing job of combining death and thrash without treading on melodic death too much…The quality of the recording is also up to standards, including some gravity blasts that’ll have you shouting, “fuck yeah!”…This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.” – 4/5 – Yell Magazine

“‘The Healing Power of Hate’ is a well executed album, tight and well produced, at times with strong hardcore influence. I liked the strong profile that the drums took, the guitar breaks were exciting and all the way through the vocals were first rate. The time taken to create it is very evident in the final result.” 4.5/5 – MetalTalk

“From the Canadian Mecca of metal, Montreal, comes upstart antagonists of aggression BornBroken and their debut The Healing Powers of Hate. From the opening moments of lead track “Can’t Quiet the Riot” it’s obvious these boys aim to take their hybrid of groove metal and metalcore and jam it right down your throat. Drawing heavily from the likes of Pantera and Lamb of God, the first meal of the day is a pit-ready anthem. Working off catchy as fuck, breakdown inflected riffs BornBroken mercilessly pound the listener to pulp. There is absolutely no doubt people leave a BornBroken show with injuries.” – Hellbound

“Montreal Metalheads spawn a beast of a debut album…Over the years, there has been the odd occasion when a debut album has really struck me between the eyes, knocked me to the ground and given a damn good slapping (in the musical sense of course). Here is the latest in that line, an album of intense and brutal passion mixed with a groove based element that had me hooked from track one.” – Planet Mosh

“This album is 44 minutes of pure adrenaline infused death-thrash metal at its finest. The Healing Powers Of Hate captures the voice of ‘the broken’ and grants an identity to the thousands of so called misfits that struggle to find a place in our society. Marching to the sounds of brutal bass, slamming percussion, high-speed guitar solos and violently powerful vocals, the broken shall rise.” – LouderThanHell – 5/5

“The Healing Power of Hate is a great example of why Canadian metal is regarded around the world as being of very high quality: Because, quite simply, it is”. – GoetiaMetal

“It’s aggressive, fierce, and well-crafted” – Bloody Underated

“I especially liked the guitars’ tone and the bass omnipresence, which add a thick extra layer of heaviness to the overall sound and prevent the album from feeling too polished or light. A well-crafted album without frills: as I mentioned above, BornBroken is not here to be cute but instead to knock you out with a direct hit in the face and they achieve this perfectly.” – Metal Made In Canada

“I was sucked in after the first couple of songs and if I had a label I would sign them in a heartbeat! I understand that this release was self-produced and if that is the case these boys are ten steps ahead of the game and will have labels banging through their doors in no time.” – XplosiveMetal

“Many of the hooks and riffs are excellent, they absolutely destroy my speakers, and the bedroom mosh commences.” – MetalStorm

“this record succeeds because it is so damn fun to listen to and the aggression seems just 2nd nature to these guys.” – Imhotep

“I thoroughly enjoyed “The Healing Powers of Hate”. It’s got breakdowns, screaming solos and funky bass, three of my favourite things. I also liked the way the band incorporated other non-musical features, such as the sounds of sirens and spoken lyrics. It’s hard to hate on this album, despite the healing powers the emotion offers. ” – Metal Temple

“The Healing Powers Of Hate is the debut release from these up-and-comers and is loaded with hard-hitting riffs and even heavier breakdowns. With this album BornBroken have resurrected the intense metallic sounds of bands the likes of A Life Once Lost, Hatebreed, Nora, and Arise And Ruin that once dominated the North American metal scene. It’s wonderful to hear a band like BornBroken bringing back what some might consider the peak sound of modern metal.”

– MusikUniverse

“Musically, BornBroken are a more solid, and extremely heavy, lot. Simon Savard and Mike Decker’s surging, Dimebag Darrell-inspired grooves hit like haymakers throughout, aided by the sort of dry, ultra-punchy production Terry Date used to achieve such brutal majesty with Pantera, Unearth, Deftones and on White Zombie’s Astro Creep: 2000. The sound here is huge – especially for a self-released effort – clear and quite pummeling.” – Metal-Rules

“It’s not often when you find yourself deep inside of a storyline with an album especially a Metal album, and this is exactly where you find yourself being drowned in throughout The Healing Powers of Hate. Every lyric and every song has a purpose and sheds the tearing storyline that is BornBroken. Throughout every well timed riff through the endless pounding of the skins and through each scream and Growl BornBroken brings you down to their deep hell and shows you their vision through The Healing Powers Of Hate.” – KingstonMusicReviews

“BornBroken deserves broad attention. They’ve already made a very big impression in their native Montreal, both for their live performances as well as their music in general. I honestly don’t know that much about the Montreal metal scene, but I do know that it is getting bigger and more competitive. For these guys to emerge as a local favorite suggests something of their overall quality. Give this one a spin.” SeaofTranquility – 4/5

“BornBroken’s Healing Powers Of Hate is a powerful album that falls in line with the likes of Pantera, Lamb Of God, and Hatebreed with some thrash inspirations from the likes of Testament, and Slayer.” – Emurg.com

“I must say that BornBroken’s amalgamation of melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash works very well. It is well balanced and captures only the good aspects of these three genres, reminding us that, despite all the not-so-interesting bands that roam the three genres, melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash do have a lot to offer…Fans of Pro-Pain, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Machine Head and a wide variety of modern metal bands should definitely check out this potent debut album.” – 4/5 – MetalMusicArchives

“What BornBroken have done here is create an album that ticks pretty much every box on the seriously heavy tick sheet, managing to put together an album which is heavy, melodic, dark, haunting, and yet uplifting at the same time. Representing the pain and angst that went into making it, this album will connect with your soul, and remind you of what heavy is.” – Loud-Stuff.com

“I was digging these guys all the way through and just wanted to keep playing the album over and over again. If you were to mixed elements of PANTERA, SEPULTURA, HATEBREED, SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, HAVOK & SLIPKNOT together you would end up with BornBroken. They have been building up a following of fans in Canada and now are ready for the world. They have a fan for life in me now!” Beowolf Reviews

“The track Control has a super hooky melodic line that rides over a thicker groove.  It really fills my body with warmth while also making my blood boil.  This echoes with a bit of Gothenburg stylistic trappings without going overboard.  It really is a tasty riff.” – Nocturnal Cult

– 8/10 – Boulevard Brutal

“So watch for it. Listen to it. These Montreal Metal Thrash-core compadres are definitely onto something different, and not only with regard to the local scene, but for Metal in general. The BornBroken boys are biting off as much as they can chew by creating a heavy-duty concept album, fusing the powers of all their influences and generating a sound that fluctuates between latter day Sepultura and mid-career Lamb of God.”

– OndesChocs

“…At the first look, the album looks like a collector’s item.”
“…The Healing Powers of Hate as a sound comparable to the big names of the industry…I have the strong impression that everything was thought of on this CD. It’s a very well done album from A to Z. The Healing Powers of Hate from BornBroken is nothing less then a must!!” – Musique D’Une Nation

“BornBroken is the future of Québec Metal, with 10 titles to discover, even on stage, since the group demonstrates an uncanny and totally uncommon, energetic stage presence. They have poured their guts into the making of this introductory album, their own monies and a wealth of professionalism, which must be recognized. Bravo for an excellent album that one just doesn’t tire of listening to.” – Québec-Métal

“…le disque est marqué au fer rouge d’une intensité menaçante qui n’épargnera aucun tympan.’’- Bande à part (Radio-Canada)

About:

Founded in 2009, Karkaos has evolved into one of the most reputable and celebrated metal acts hailing from Montreal, QC. Melodic yet heavy, this female-fronted band succeeds in targeting an immensely wide audience thus establishing a vast following within just a few short years. With Veronica O. Rodriguez as their former charismatic singer and front woman, the band released their first E.P. entitled “In Burning Skies” in 2011 closely followed by a professionally shot music video and a live appearance on Montreal’s prestigious music television station “Musique Plus”.

Following a great reception and positive reviews, the band was invited to participate in local competitions and perform with international acts such as Into Eternity, Enslaved, UneXpect and Unleash the Archers. Growing exponentially, the band enlists new veteran members of the local music scene before returning to the studio to record their debut full-length album called “Empire”. With a new solid line-up, the band released the music video for “Depths of Madness” in December 2013 and their debut album in March 2014 to critical acclaim.

Forever evolving, Karkaos parted ways with their dedicated singer Veronica, moving into a more focused and professional direction by recruiting Viky Boyer, a young talented extreme vocalist and musician. With Viky at the helm, Karkaos is ready to embark on new ventures, always pushing forward the boundaries of extreme melodic metal.

IDOL OF FEAR Streaming Full Album ‘All Sights Affixed, Ablaze’ On Metal Nation Radio Due Out Nov. 18th

Canadian black death band IDOL OF FEAR has teamed up with MetalNationRadio.ca for the premiere of their full album stream for ‘All Sights Affixed, Ablaze’, which can be heard at the following link.

Album Stream – Idol of Fear – ‘All Sights Affixed, Ablaze’ – http://metalnationradio.ca/idol-fear-exclusive-album-stream-sights-affixed-ablaze/

“All Sights Affixed, Ablaze was recorded over 11 months of fiery personal turbulence and development, musically and otherwise. This monumental effort though at times painstaking has sharpened our blades, bodies and minds for the next battle. This is our official debut and it is the perfect introduction to our current sound and where we plan to go in the near future. It is our stab from the darkness.” comments vocalist / guitarist Austin Myers.

The follow up to Idol of Fear’s 2013 EP ‘Scavenger’, their full length ‘All Sights Affixed, Ablaze’ is due out on November 18th and features eight crushing tracks mastered by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Corpus Christi) at Necromorbus Studio and mixed by Jeff Wardell.

Born from the powerful quote from Ingmar Bergman’s 1957 movie Det Sjunde Inseglet (The Seventh Seal) “We must make an idol of our fear and that idol we shall call God.”. Idol of Fear focuses on abstract, sliced melodies paired with upfront aggression and compelling vocal energy. Best defined as undefinable and undeniable, Idol of Fear is the definition of creative destructive freedom.

1. Vanquish (4:23)
2. Morningstar (6:19)
3. Circle of Vortices (5:27)

“the song (All Sights Affixed, Ablaze) delivers is dark, dynamic music performed with a lot of impressive instrumental flair, a deft balance of memorable melody and scathing aggression, and the kind of vocals you can understand — at the same time as they are gnashing voraciously through flesh and bone.” – No Clean Singing

“one listen of this track (All Sights Affixed, Ablaze) and you’ll find all sorts of influences and shifts in tone, but it’s all dark and weighty. ” – Yell Magazine

About TOV: Bridging the gap between metal and rock with help from dual guitar harmonies, pounding drum lines and wide-ranging vocal harmonies, Calgary’s Throne of Vengeance released their EP ‘Live Evil’ on October 19, 2013 that echoes the band’s signature thrash-tinged rock.

“‘Live Evil’ is “a collection of songs based on our experiences in the last two years, covering everything from a close friend’s imprisonment for a victim-less crime to the realization of humanity’s demise to the contrast between good and evil and life and death,” says drummer Trevor Cobb.

“If there’s anything we would like people to take away from the record, it’s that you should be your own person, do what makes you happy, be aware of your world and be real. We have the power to control our own destiny. Together, we are more powerful than any world leader.”

Having shared the stage with numerous legends over the years, including Kill Devil Hill, 3 Inches Of Blood and Steven Pearcy of RATT, Throne of Vengeance is ready to take things to a whole new level with Live Evil. Are you ready for a major ‘bangover’?

“Calgary metal band Throne of Vengeance rule the local rock scene with heart and soul…Recorded with Emmy-winning producer Paul Sabu, who recorded the band’s 2011 debut Flesh Engine and has worked with such names as David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Shania Twain and Prince, it captures Throne of Vengeance’s sound in a huge, warm and oh-so slick way. It’s all pro from the get-go.” – Calgary Herald

“the record follows their 2009 EP Toxic Black Cloud and 2011’s Flesh Engine and delivers the thrash-tinged classic metal for which the quartet is renowned.”  – Beatroute

“One of the keys to Throne Of Vengeance’s energy and drive lies in their passion…masters of their own domain…Their work is solid and I recommend you check them out” – Beatroute Magazine

“Calgary has an amazing music scene, and in my opinion, if you want to listen to great metal music in this city, this is the band that you need to see.” – X92.9 FM

“The band have hit the sweet spot of heaviness and melody that is hard to find. They have had a considerable amount of local success and LIVE EVIL will help them continue to build on that…this piece is rock solid release with excellent production and a good mix and balance of the instruments. The band tapped Paul Sabu (Only Child, ex-Malice) and countless production credits of big name artists like Alice Cooper. The songs range from mid-tempo to quite a bit faster, songs like ‘Hands Tied’ almost creeping almost in that power metal speed zone. The quartet use some gang-vocals a bit to back up vocalist Tommy. The band also will throw in a hint of acoustic guitar once in a while as well adding to the rock end of the spectrum.” – Metal-Rules

“…they joyously pay homage to their influences while creating their own distinctive sound…there are no lowlights and no filler tracks – each song is a mighty entity unto itself and worthy of your ears.” – Extreme Metal Television

“Whether you are a die-hard metal fan, or prefer rock n’ roll, Throne of Vengeance is the perfect blend of both… a great album to put on if you’re going to get together with friends, have a barbecue and drink beer. It feels like a summer album, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in feel-good thrash rock.” – Vancouver Metal

“The band is perfect for fans of classic metal such as Dio, Iron Maiden and Megadeth.” – Canadian Music News

““Live Evil” features seven hard rock songs including my two favourites, “Live Evil” and “Terminal Velocity”. One thing that I really enjoy about this album is that guitar reminds me of classic metal. You can feel the passion and drive in the songs.” – Canadian Beats

“Their shows are energetic, well-attended and the crowd absolutely loves them…I’ll babysit those maniacs anytime!..One of the few metal bands out there who are 100% convincing in that they genuinely LOVE what they do, and it shows.” – Philly Roach, Owner/Operator – The Distillery Rock & Roll Ballroom, Calgary

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, with four full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title” (2006), their holiday album “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” (2007), “Sandwich” (2009),  and “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D” (2011), the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory, Psychostick returns with their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic) to showcase their latest offering, the crowd funded album ‘IV: Revenge of The Vengeance’ (fan thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI) due out on November 4, 2014. Featuring a hilarious track listing that includes previously released singles the beard anthem ‘Obey The Beard’ and popular ‘Dog Like Socks’ plus new tracks such as ‘Quack Kills’, ‘So. Heavy’, ‘Blue Screen’, and a tribute to the 21st century’s most beloved action super hero ‘Bruce Campbell’. Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

“In a genre with a lot of anger, aggression and seriousness, every once in a while some levity is good. That’s wherePsychostick come in. Their fourth albumIV: Revenge Of The Vengeance is musically solid and lyrically amusing.” – Heavy Metal – About.com

“Psychostick pulls the pin from a hand grenade and shoves it down the gullet of comedy. When it explodes, anyone within earshot finds themselves covered in the entrails of hilarity! These guys are off-the-chart insane. Imagine if the cast of “Jackass” formed a metal band with Andy Samberg, Sam Kinison, and Seth Rogen and then they threw a house party that made “Project X” look like amateur hour by comparison. Yeah, now you’re getting it!” – Axs

“I do like when bands like Pyschostick inject humour into songs and REVENGE OF THE VENGEANCE is pretty damn funny…The first single ‘Obey The Beard’ is magnificent and this is coming from a clean-shaven dude. It made me want to grow one. Comedy Metal fans can listen for a couple of inside Metal jokes (Captain Stupid!) and a cameo by ‘snaky’. The production is immaculate and as always these guys are as heavy as hell. Weird Al on crack. I wanted to use that phrase and I couldn’t even think how to work it into this review so I just dumped it here at the end. Humour is so subjective but I know what I like and I really like IV: REVENGE OF THE VENGEANCE.” – Metal Rules

“IV: Revenge of the Vengeance isn’t just a Psychostick album, it’s a Psychostick experience. They really went all out on this album. Not all of it makes sense and some of it may be a little over the top, but that’s what makes this band so great- they aren’t afraid to push the envelope of ridiculousness. In fact, they bask in it. Get ready, world. Get ready for the revenge of the vengeance and one of the most action-packed metal albums ever concocted. Rating: 9/10″ – Front Row Report

“The creator of “Humorcore” knock one out of the fucking park with this one (IV: Revenge of The Vengeance). If you’re in a band trying to do parody and funny Metal songs stop right now, you’re just embarrassing yourself, you will not be able to dethrone Psychostick. ” – Rock Hard Place

“In ‘IV: Revenge of The Vengeance’ you have more craziness and beard than ever before, weighing in at a whopping twenty one beard bending tracks of strictly tongue in cheek craziness and general insanity with song titles ranging from ‘NSFW’, ‘Quack Kills’, ‘Loathe Thy Neighbor’ and the previously unleashed  ‘Dogs Like Socks’ and ‘Obey The Beard’ as well as a cover of Kenny Loggins ‘Danger Zone’. Add a couple of cameos from Bill Manspeaker, the founder of Green Jello and you can imagine the types of craziness that is unleashed once play is pressed. Simply put, ‘IV: Revenge of The Vengeance’ is beardtastic and in the words of Psychostick ‘Obey The Beard’.” – Firebrand After Darkness Mag

“make no mistake about it – these guys rock first and foremost, especially on this album’s standouts, the anthemic “Obey the Beard,” as well as “Dogs Like Socks,” which explores the complexities of canine/hosiery relations.” – Erie Reader

“There are so many little things that make this more than your run-of-the-mill laugh and enjoy album. For example, in the lyric book, for the song “Choking Hazard”, it simply displays the pamphlet image of what to do in the event of someone choking. This unpredictable, jokey style they incorporate spills over into their live show and after four albums, they show no wear and tear in their funny bone and no signs of decelerating those head banging riffs. I could ramble a little more, but you’re better off experiencing this yourself. So go buy it already.” – Media Mikes

“This new album features twenty-one tracks of skits and songs that will make you listen to it until you can catch all the references from pop culture, the metal scene, and moments of “did he just say what I think he said?” With the fast paced musings of being stalked by a water fowl in “Quack Kills” to “NSFW” that will never see airplay on your local radio station, the album covers a wide range of subjects in its lampooning. It is no wonder their fans, that have had three albums to delight them in metal geekiness and humor, have waited anxiously for this new release.” – National Rock Review

PROTOKULT are proud to announce prior to their upcoming performance for this year’s first ever Metal Divas Fest in Toronto, ON at the Bovine Sex Club on November 29th. The beer drinking progressive folk metallers will be playing an acoustic set at The Barbarian Kegger on November 15th at the May Cafe to aid in the fundraising efforts for the Northern Ontario Permaculture EnthusiastSociety. Tickets and show info can be found here.

“After disrupting a few house parties and bonfires, we’ve come to the conclusion that plenty of the Protokult material works acoustically. As a result, we’ve decided to perform a few select acoustic shows this fall/winter. That’s right folks, no distortion to mask our fuck-ups, no hauling of gear and plenty more beer! What you will witness is the Kult in their raw, stripped down, purest form “blushes”….suddenly, we feel rather exposed. Minimal. Festive. Drunk and dark. Stay posted for dates and expect some classic renditions of previously released songs, some new ones and even the odd wacky, traditional retro covers!” comments guitarist / vocalist Martin Drozd

The Eastern European transplants now residing in Toronto, ON released their sophomore album ‘No Beer In Heaven’ on August 8th with their single ‘Get Me A Beer!’ pleasing beer fans around the globe. This follow up to 2011’s ‘Marzena’ EP and 2009’s debut ‘Ancestral Anthems’ has a beauty and the beast-like contrast between Ekaterina’s haunting vocals and the band’s metal onslaught, the album captures the reformed quintet at an all-time high, showcasing an impressive palette of twelve entirely new compositions, and straps the listener on an adventurous, heavy and experimental trek, diving into themes of drinking, history and human endeavor. The band unites their diverse cultures into one sound, balancing tradition and folklore with heavy, thrash and black metal for headbangers everywhere.

“they’ve got a good sense of humor, and they sound top-notch” – Metal Sucks

“boozy blast of heathen prog” – Team Rock

“Le metal a du talent.”  – Metal France

“If you’d like a taste of the brew Protokult has on tap, check out the eclectic, hoppy folk thrasher “Get Me a Beer”. Indeed this mix of traditional folk, thrash metal, death metal, and other genres will have you stomping your feet and drinking too fast.`- Yell Magazine

“The rousing opening track “Get Me A Beer” is alcohol-fueled folk metal with similarities to bands like Korpiklaani, but they have many other facets… It’s an extremely diverse album” – Heavy Metal. About.com

“Ah this album was a pleasure to review. So many albums are a slog to get through, but I was sorry when No Beer In Heaven ended…All the band are excellent musicians and you can hear their joy at playing their music. Ekaterina Pvatlova brings another dimension to the band too; her vocals are nothing you’ve heard in metal before, and I love the touch she brings with the woodwind instruments…I love the track “Get Me A Beer” – it could be marketed as a cure for depression. Elsewhere, the contrast between folk and metal works very harmoniously: heavy and uplifting at the same time. Joyous stuff! The band also have a good sense of humour, and while they can be serious, this is an enjoyable life-affirming album to listen to, which is as it should be. Our lives are brief; we should try and enjoy our spell on this earth! I love the album artwork and presentation too. This is a band the world needs to hear more of. Highly recommended! – Hellbound

“a superb album. Protokult gives folk-metal a new nice dimension. Their progressive folk-metal approach is a very delicious one. Don’t let the ‘beer-titles’ fool you, the band goals are far beyond beer-humpaa. They’re far more serious, despite of the sometimes quite merry tunes. This is one of the best folk-metal albums I’ve heard this year” – Folk-Metal.nl

“Protokult is a colourful collective, made up of four guys and a lady…It is a versatile album…progressive twists and turns in the songs and surprising approaches.” – Lords of Metal

“The very second I started to listen to No Beer In Heaven and “Get Me A Beer” came on I was instantly hooked. Instantly Protokult kills it with a killer opening riff that is a combination of electric guitar and synthesizer. “Get Me A Beer” has one of the wildest mix of genres and styles that I have heard in quite some time.” – Kingston Music Reviews

“Let’s mark the list down, shall we: Awesome Folk music spanning different areas of sound and direction, check! Creative and art work based around an old fashioned beer hall, check! And last, but certainly not least, BEER themed music!!!!.” – Metal Temple

“Folk and metal comes together in a epic way with Protokult. The mix is perfect for the party and other festivity’s that needs a nice kick in the ass, like a metal heads funeral. Hooks, beer and the ever changing change ups makes this LP one for the books.” Tommy Tee – The Metal Factory on Insane Realm Radio.com

“Although PROTOKULT is a Canadian-based group, the members come from various backgrounds (Polish, Irish, Russian, Czech) and the result is a marvellous mix of Canadian and international forces. The goal is to unite these cultures into one sound, balancing tradition and folklore with heavy, thrash and black metal for head-bangers everywhere.” – Demented Magazine

“Most bands go on the road to promote the CD and encourage fans to buy it but this album would actually encourage me to go and see the band. The music speaks and says that this band will be well worth watching live.” – Extreme Metal Television

“Anyone who has seen this band live knows that the beer maidens will be pouring potent potables into ever thirsty mouths at the front of the stage. Before this delightful feature comes to fruition, the fans come in close, sing along, and dance the metal jig during the pagan musical onslaught from the band. We are instantly transported to villages, and forests of another era.” – Metal Master Kingdom (Live Review)

“All in all No Beer In Heaven is an extra large package of dark folk metal here to drink and party with you. If you’re a folk fan, be sure to give them a listen. The album is a solid piece and an enjoyment to even non-folk fans. Oh, and they also love the ‘Water of Life’ (that is vodka if you didn’t know already).” – Two Guys Metal Reviews

“They belong amongst the ranks of bands like Moonsorrow and Skyforger…Almost every song twists and turns through several folk metal transformations, without ever tapping into cheesy or overly tired clichés.”- Metal Observer (2010 review for Ancestral Anthems)

“Their songs pulse and writhe like a sinuous living thing.”- Exclaim (2012 review of Marzena)
