Releasing their new album ‘Eyes And Ears’ on October 7th, Vancouver, BC’s QUARTERED returns to the spotlight to follow up 2010’s ‘Walk Like A Ghost’ that took the band on multiple Canadian and international tours, one of which saw them playing with Lamb of God and Testament at the 2010 Pulp Summer Slam festival (held in Manila, Philippines). Thanks to a group of high school friends fusing their influences into one cohesive sound and the flip of a coin to help choose between band names, Vancouver progressive metal band Quartered’s moniker has certainly given itself meaning over the years.

Inspired by bands like Deftones, Tool and Thrice from early on – Quartered’s focus has always been on conveying moody emotion and mixing heavy grooves, experimental riffs, and hook-laden bridges to paint a picture with lyrics that tell a story while keeping one major goal in mind: longevity.

Great heavy metal doesn’t waste time, and Where Giants Once Stood have hit the ground running. This July, the Toronto metallers return with the video for their new single ‘Living in Security’, filmed on location in Toronto and directed by LoganSwinkels of Logan Lights Creative. An anthem for taking control of your own destiny, ‘Living in Security’ deconstructs small-town complacency and showcases the band’s most creatively ambitious material to date.

‘Living in Security’ is the first single to be taken from the new EP Live Above, due for release September 2, 2014. Live Above is the natural successor to 2013’s The Changing EP, which tore onto the iTunes metal charts in July 2013 with a debut at no.2, earning critical praise, sponsorship from Ernie Ball and a place on SoundSHOCK’s “Best of 2013” feature along the way. About:

Ninjaspy arose with the dawn of the year of six, embodied by the Triad in Blood: Vocalist/Guitarist Joel Parent, Drummer Adam Parent and Bassist Tim Parent. Rising above the mire of their faceless six year muse, they have focused their sights on the mission objectives now at hand: Swift, surgical amalgamation of a spectrum of styles and the subsequent eradication of narrow mindedness. Advocating total freedom of expression and infiltrating every earthen sinew in their chosen path in order to stay grounded and facilitate real connections with others; interactions that are crucial for a meaningful human existence. In correlation with a commitment to people before all else, support for Ninjaspy has grown with every show, every tour and every industry contact.

With the help of prolific producers, GGGarth Richardson and Ben Kaplan, they entered the next level of their career, releasing their debut cd πature (Pi Nature) in the fall of 2007. Ever reworking new ideas to their utmost potential, 2013 saw the release of the follow-up multi-media EP/Graphic Novella “NINJASPY NO KATA” with production by the same team of producers.

Equipped and, indeed, armed with their own musical weaponry, (a derivation of hardcore, ska, grunge, reggae, funk and more) Ninjaspy aim to engage people with radical ideas on a level plane. And above all else, to reiterate to people over and again, the importance of victory in the eternal conflict with the skank; the vicious and relentless evil that lives in every human being. The skank that is overcome each time Ninjaspy has the honour of sharing their crafts with people in a live environment, where dancing destroys the enemy. The enemy whose defeat is apparent as one witnesses the total freedom felt at every show by the people in the pit who rise up to throw the skank down.

Winnipeg, MB prairie rapper Abstract Artform has posted a new lyric video for ‘The Hitchhiker’ feat. Dan Frechette and D-Sisive. The track is from his recently released remix album ‘CROWS:’, which is a collaboration with beatmaker Oscar “Mumbles” Folundin and DJ Björn Friberg (Co-Pilot) remixing tracks from last year’s release ‘As The Crow Flies’.

In March of 2014 three-piece hip-hop/blues/folk-constellation Crows: released their debut album called “Remixes, Reboots and Alternative Versions”. “Remixes…” started out as just what it sounds like; a remix album. Using a microphone, a loop-pedal and one 15-watt amplifier Mumbles put together rough remixes of tracks lifted off his friend, Winnipeg prairie-rapper Abstract Artform’s album “As the Crow Flies”. The band released a new music video ‘Dream Pariah’ in support of their debut album ‘Traits of The Sick’ released during November 2013. Featuring an eclectic mix of thrash, classic metal and rock, the album deals with the idea of humans being human and never willing to be completely satisfied, the debutis now available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and all other major online retailers.

Wreck ‘n roll band Trainwreck Architect are proud to announce dates for their ‘Wreck The Road Tour’ that will see them performing shows in News Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario between the months of May and June that includes an opening support slot for German power metal masters Primal Fear on Friday, May 2 in Montreal, QC at Foufounes Electriques.

Drummer Marc-Antoine Blackburn comments:

“For us, the time we hit the road is just the best time of the year! We can’t wait to see all these lovely faces that will come wreck their necks with us and have a great time! With three releases contributed to the metal world, 2012′s ‘Burning Bridges To Nowhere’, 2009′s debut album ‘At The Bottom’ produced by Greg Dawson (The End, Moneen, Choke) and 2006′s debut ‘Glass Barricade’, Canadian band Odium has established itself as a serious contender on the metal stage, delivering melodic, dark yet beautiful music and landing gigs with bands such as Fuck The Facts, Cryptopsy, Alexisonfire, The Agonist, Threat Signal, Baptized In Blood, Beneath The Massacre, Divinity and Arise and Ruin.

“The break has definitely had a positive influence on us as a band,” says guitarist and original founding member Bo Louther. “It has allowed us to step back and really just make music purely because we love it. Montreal, QC’s The Rising Few are proud to announce the official release of their debut album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’, out this week on Tuesday, March 25th (iTunes). The album is a tribute to the city that has given so much to vocalist Karim Terouz, a professional illustrator whom left his hometown of Cairo, Egypt to embrace the blistering Canadian winters and the lively music scene that Montreal is internationally known for.

”Finally a songbook to reflect that scene we got here in Montreal, an album that honestly and sincerely depicts the sultry colours of Monty by night…and the morning after! To be able to catalogue my time and experience coming here, to engage the youth with an emancipation in songwriting is more than the life I wanted for myself, I am finally comfortable and it all starts with this album.” says Terouz.

Accompanying Terouz in his true passion of music are Hubert Tremblay (Guitars) and Andrew Sudlow (Bass) whom he met when he first started visiting every open mic night imaginable in the city. He was then later joined by Isaac Gesse (Trumpet) and Harvey Bienaime (Drums) to complete The Rising Few and create a fusion of folk, blues, rock and pop that the band showcases with its influences from Cat Stevens, The Tragically Hip and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Terouz’s Egyptian heritage with the band’s R&B / soul inspirations.

Performing over 30 live shows since first beginning on the scene and a first place win at the LME showcase competition (http://www.landmarkevents.net) in which the band beat out 200+ others for top honours. The Rising Few is excited to indulge music fans in some “punchy Montreal soul” with this debut produced by the great Glen Robinson known for his mixing and mastering credits on projects with Dave Grohl’s Probot, The Ramones, David Bowie, AC/DC, Keith Richards, The Tea Party, Grim Skunk, Ringo Starr, The Beach Boys and many more over the course of his career.
