Formed simply as a creative outlet in which there are no rules, Orillia, ON’s TANGENTS plays music with the idea of no constraints, no guidelines, and producing what they would want to hear. Releasing their fourth EP, entitled “Molt,” this past April, Tangents is kicking off tour dates from July 16th to 26th across Eastern Canada, with performances in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

Tangents – “No Dragons, No Lasers, Just LobsTour”
July 16 – Montreal, QC – Bar L’Hemisphere Gauche
July 18 – Windsor, NS – (Gutterfest) – Avon Valley Lanes
July 19 – Yarmouth, NS – The Red Knight
July 20 – Halifax, NS – Gus’ Pub

July 24 – One Star Studio (secret location)
July 25 – Edmundston, NB – Microbrasserie Ateepic
July 26 – Lachute, QC – Royal Canadian Legion

With elements of mathcore, prog, and post-hardcore, Tangents take you on a brutally honest journey with nothing to hide during an emotional and heavy 10 minutes on their latest EP’s three tracks. The band’s goal is to keep the listener on their toes, along with themselves as musicians. Keeping things fresh and ever evolving.

“For this EP, we decided on the 3 songs simply to capture that specific moment in time. I feel that there’s always room for growth, so we constantly keep evolving, we’re stoked and proud to release Molt. With our most focused effort, we present to fans a multitude of experiences in a compact timeframe. This offering allowed us to open and embrace challenges and overcome the obstacles that come with growth,” adds guitarist Will Tennant.

Taking pride that each member of the band is a multi-instrumentalist, Tangents are a bare bones heavy band, and at the end of the day, they get up there and rock out live to showcase very visceral songs. It’s a roller coaster of emotions throughout each track.

Recommended for fans of avant-garde mathy metal and bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mr Bungle, Every Time I Die, Dog Fashion Disco, and Better Lovers, Tangents’ new EP “Molt” is available at the following links:

“if you like bands like Dillenger Escape Plan and Mr. Bungle, these guys could be your next favourite… their new EP Molt is out now, and it only takes 10 and a half minutes to eat through some precise and meaty math-metal riffs!” – Drag The Waters – CKDU 881.FM (Halifax, NS)

“There is a playful spirit to these songs too, even if there is a bit of a grunge undercurrent to these escapades, and that spirit comes mainly due to the vocals and some of the melody lines explored in general. Without ever managing to pinpoint the exact details that brings this association, I keep thinking about Mike Patton and Faith No More when listening to this production. If you can imagine a Mike Patton era Faith No More creating bombastic and dramatic metal with a bit of a grunge undercurrent, then that may perhaps be a little bit of an indication about the type of music you will find on this EP. And if that notion strikes you as an intriguing one, chances are good for you to find this EP to be a rewarding one I’d suspect.” – The Viking in the Wilderness

“I’ve blasted this EP time and time again since it dropped and found myself entranced by the instrumentation. It’s clear that Tangents are putting their own spin on this genre, melding their progressive experimentation with the accessible mores of hardcore in way that sounds familiar yet unique at the same time. If this is how they sound now I look forward to hearing more from them, perhaps a full length album if we’re lucky.” – Where Strides The Behemoth

About Vortex:

Vortex is a symphonic Death Metal band from Quebec, Canada, and is comprised of seasoned musicians with an abundance of studio and live experience. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations.

Vortex music is filled with heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

In June 2023, Vortex released “The Future Remains In Oblivion”, their third epic concept album set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on the album is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. VORTEX is gearing up to release a new 5-song EP and hit the road in 2025 alongside the talented band XAON. They will be supporting each other on a tour across Canada in April 2025 and Europe in October-November 2025.

About XAON:

XAON. An elusive name born in the Alpine Might. Never quite fitting in any of the numerous galleries metal has to offer, drifting through the extremes whilst juxtaposing finesse and vehemence from an unworldly orchestra, endlessly exploring the vast echoic gloominess of the human mind.

In only a few short years, the combo has managed to step foot on 3 continents through the release of their debut album “The Drift”, notably across Europe with gothic metal monsters SIRENIA and folk metal legends TYR, in Japan with OBSCURA and ARCHSPIRE, in the US with THE VEER UNION, and sharing the stage in festivals across Europe with bands such as MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, GOJIRA, PARADISE LOST, ELUVEITIE and many more. In 2019, XAON came back with their critically acclaimed 2nd album “Solipsis” and raged across Europe with SEPTICFLESH and KRISIUN and distinguished themselves as an extremely powerful live act.

On July 1st, 2022, XAON released their new magnum opus, “The Lethean”, bringing the band’s grandiose aggressiveness to a whole new level, pummeling their way through a cataclysmic atmosphere while reaching a new majestic apotheosis. This record got them to play at the mighty WACKEN OPEN AIR 2023.

Canadian College Radio Charts – – August 2023 – top 20 loud – #14 Vortex (earshot)

“#8 on Top 10 Quebec Band 2023 Albums – The Future Remains In Oblivion delivers a solid punch with their intense and well-felt symphonic death metal and, with a quality product like this, they have nothing to envy of the big names in the genre.” – Thorium Mag

“The Future Remains in Oblivion is the collision zone between powdered wig classical and battle jacketed death metal that should hold appeal for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and those who like their Suffocation mixed with Dimmu Borgir.” – Decibel Magazine

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

“a band that takes great pride in weaving together cinematic stories set to orchestral melodic death metal. Canada’s very own Vortex is prepared to whisk you away to a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm in the latest album, The Future Remains In Oblivion.” – Canadian Beats

“The Future Remains In Oblivion est un disque coloré, aux mélodies chaleureuses et aux superbes guitares.
“The Future Remains In Oblivion is a colorful record, with warm melodies and superb guitars.” – Music Waves

“The breakdowns are huge in places. There are big moments where the influences pour through, but are blended with giant choral arrangements and symphonics. It’s absolutely like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie. I love the melodies, the harmonics, and the guitar solos. This is absolutely an album which ought to be part of your listening rotation this month. I was genuinely impressed with quite a bit of the entire album. I think that when you look at this album, the absolute banger of the title tack is 100% worth several spins with the blackened guitar riffs and tremendous choral arrangements.” – Metal Epidemic

Moncton, Canada’s Omnivide is a dynamic metal force formed in 2020 by members of the Sunbird project, and they are gearing up for the release of their debut album, “A Tale of Fire”, scheduled for March 2024. Breaking away from paying homage to others to enter the realm of original music, Omnivide fuses progressive metal, death metal, and melodic/symphonic metal into a grandiose, brutal, beautiful, dark, and melancholic sonic experience. Their latest single “Opulence” comes with a band playthrough video and is sure to draw in metal fans with a wide range of backgrounds. The band comments:

“This song is one of the most in-your-face and brutal on the album, having much less of the orchestral elements present throughout most of the songs, as we wanted to have a song that stood in contrast to the rest of the album and provided variety in the pacing and sonic content of the tracks.”

The relentless energy of the music matches the lyrical content, which describes how humans came from the earth but are now polluting it and over-consuming its resources to the point of changing the global climate. It paints a metaphor of humans being gluttons that are taking pieces of the earth for themselves with no self-control or regard for the planet, and the earth shifting from being a fertile ground for human life to actively trying to eradicate a species that has essentially become a parasite.

Omnivide’s goal is to have their music illustrate the brutality and destructive power of nature, which can and will defend itself when threatened, and does so in a ruthless manner that is almost incomprehensible to our human minds. “Opulence” serves as a prime example of their musical diversity, with its relentless energy and thought-provoking lyrics. It is recommended for fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, Opeth, and Alkaloid.

Watch and listen to the band playthrough video for “Opulence” via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

Due out on March 22, 2024, “A Tale of Fire” is available for album pre-save at https://linktr.ee/omnivide.

Vortex‘s third epic concept album is set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:

“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”

Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs will work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.

Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

“‘Dream Pariah’ is infectious it possesses something wholesome, but a track like ‘The Narcissist’ is an absolute perfect thrash attack. All in all, Trainwreck Architect hang around the fringes of the thrash scene without going totally into it with both feet, they enhance their sound with some modern touches and have mastered their recorded sound. This is a rather decent album and worth anybody’s money.” – Brutalism.com

“…it is a pure primal architect of aggression. Please continue to knock us out and feed us those sweating bullets.” – Metal Temple

“What listeners will get from this album is a strong blend of traditional heavy metal mixed with a strong dose of thrash. The best thing about the music is the twin guitar harmonies, slick and technical solos, and the occasional burst of groove. In the end, the band proves that NWOBHM-style music still has legs. Simon Ouellet’s vocals definitely bring to mind an old school-style, mixing high pitched wails, clean articulation, and thrash-inspired aggression…the guitar licks and grooves really shine, ranging from strong and infectious to slick and polished. Better still, the track “As Killers Breathe” includes a solo from the legendary Jeff Waters (of Annihilator) that is well worth a listen. Listeners that enjoy an older style of heavy metal will appreciate the way this band nods to the old school while also trying to keep things fresh and new.” – Sea of Tranquility

“Other than featuring a very cool album cover (there is a nice backpiece tattoo in there somewhere), this lot turn in some fine tunes for us with their Traits of the Sick recording.  Instrumental shredding (Comatose Era), punk/thrash workouts ( The Door Slams Shut, Deadbeat Beatdown, The Narcissist, and Feed Them Bullets), and plenty of no-holds-barred Metal boogie….heavy guitars, lots of heavy drums – let’s face it, this is heavy everything. So, if you’re into the heavy stuff, here’s a great place to start!” – Wyrd Ways

“Each track is an individual burst of gunfire riffing and dito vocals, and the band sound very true and natural that it fair brings a tear of nostalgia to your eye. Bassist Eric Litinas and drummer Marc-Antoine Blackburn form two natural focus points as they work hard and sound tight throughout the album.” – RockUnited

“A nice blend of elements from around the metal universe wrapped in melodic thrash metal, Trainwreck Architect’s “Traits of the Sick” is nicely eclectic and sophisticated, and should appeal to fans of Death Angel, Anthrax and Annihilator.” – Metal Music Archives

“Direct and incisive, the Thrash of TRAINWRECK ARCHITECT has all to conquer you!” – Metal Integral

“Whatever you’re looking for in a metal album, these guys serve it up, moving from thrash, to classic metal, to rock, with even a slight punk edge at times. All these sounds combined could potentially have been a… trainwreck (haha, I’m so funny), but these guys pull it off, and not only pull it off, but do it excellently. This album is for fans of all metal genres. My suggestion to everyone is to throw on your dirtiest jean jacket, get a 12-pack of your favourite cheap beer, and give this record a listen. You will not be disappointed.” – Bucket List  Music Reviews

“The approach that Trainwreck Architect have to their music is powerful and distinctive, it reaches out and touches the listener with its honesty. This is what these guys were born to do and no one will stop them from reaching their total heavy metal dominance. Suffice to say the future seems bright for these guys and I could see them and their unique sound going far. If you want to hear more of their unclassable metal madness be sure to check out their new record Traits of the Sick!” – Two Guys Metal Reviews

“One favorite is probably ‘ The Killers Breathe ’, featuring Jeff Waters (Annihilator) on guitar solos. But we can not also fail to mention the most “eared” as “ Dream Pariah . “  To finish the double “T he Narcissist”and” Feed Them Bullets ”continues to charge massive doses of pure aggression and lasts well established in the voracity of demonic vocals always well supported by portentous riffs. So, for all those who enjoy a good dose of primordial metal full of aggression and nostalgia, but also with some fun Rock to the mix, Traits OF The Sick is always a safe bet.” – Rock N’ Heavy

“‘Traits Of The Sick’ an engaging and entertaining listen.” – Planet Mosh

”This album is a perfect blend of pure metal, very well done!” – Quebec Metal

“Trainwreck Architect has their own diverse style that is hard to compare to other bands and this album proves it. Traits of the Sick is definitely an album worth giving a listen to.” – The Scene Magazine

“These architects of heavy pay homage to roots metal bands such as Dio and maple leaf legends, Annihilator, while adding popular loud sounds of today.” – Louder Than Hell

“This is one of those albums that surprises you with how great they sound; one that you don’t expect to blow you away, but after having a listen you’re left gobsmacked. If you don’t mind a bit of a modern twist on your traditional thrash and heavy metal music then this would be perfect for you. Recommended.” Louder Than Hell

The best thing about the music is the twin guitar harmonies, slick and technical solos, and the occasional burst of groove. In the end, the band proves that NWOBHM-style music still has legs. “Tearing up the stage from the moment the first chord is struck, the room is packed and the crowd is just as revved up as the band. Note after note tears through the air and charges the crowd and the band with a fury. Simon Ouellet bounces off stage with a roar and flies into the crowd and they love it. The band members are everywhere wreaking complete havoc and feeding their hungry fans. Technically precise and experienced they want this bad and after all of this, they deserve it! They are a well oiled machine and to comment on them individually would only blaspheme their sound as one entity and deplete the value of their clearly hard work. They break out into a tune tributed to the 80’s metal scene and it certainly does the decade justice. As Simon puts his shades to his face we take a train ride back in time and this is anything BUT a train wreck!!!” – Ondes Chocs

”Bands like Crossitution and Trainwreck Architect are blowing my mind in terms of talent, performance and initiative (as they are both unsigned)…Any metalhead who respects himself must listen to Trainwreck Architect” – Bang Bang Blog

“Let me tell you I had great expectations, since when doing some researches, I’ve read this on the band’s website: The meaning behind the band name is “Intelligently creating destruction and chaos” and we plan on putting that in your face when it comes to live performance. “ I can confirm they were not lying!..The singer’s voice is powerful and impressive, and the band members are full of energy. They offer Heavy metal with various influences. – Quebec Daily Rock

“…full of energy and stage presence, Trainwreck blasted their signature thrashy classic metal tones out to the crowd, causing probably the best moshing of the night. Trainwreck plays with their whole hearts, and has a great sound as far as aural enjoyment is concerned. They are tight and I simply can’t wait to see how far these boys go.” – Montreal Music Scene

“Trainwreck Architect has shown once again they feel like home on stage ! The singer, Simon Ouellet, opened the show by saying : “Don’t be fooled by the haircut, this isn’t an N’Sync tribute band!”. The band is really at ease on stage and their compositions are really catchy.” – Thorium Magazine

”I really enjoyed their hard rock attitude, coupled with a more modern metal edge, and was really into “Midnight Bitch” – which is a really catchy tune.” – The Scene Magazine

’’Excellent set, super tight. You know how to deal with the public, you have confidence, you know what you’re doing!’’ – Bart Frydrychowicz – Quo Vadis

“You Guys really kicked ass. That was tight, That was powerful, a fucking machine. Great frontman, and I’ve never heard a band introduced like that before. I love the band you guys are awesome.’’ – Vinnie Appice – Kill Devil Hill, DIO, Black Sabbath

’The whole job of a frontman, in my opinion, is…You wanna watch that guy, and you wanna hang out with that guy. I wanna hang out with you! I’ve never heard anyone introduce a band that originally and that well… You guys came to win. Fantastic job, one of the best bands so far in the contest. I do feel for the band that has to follow that… I have to be honest…” Jason Rockman – CHOM FM

”I really loved your punk rock attitude. I think the crowd reaction said it all. Greenland Productions would feel comfortable booking you anytime. You rock, pretty cool!’’ – Vincent Lafrenaye Lamontage – Greenland Productions

”Well, I have to say I really love your singer; the way he uses to set the notes and the words is so cool! The best songs to me are Dream Pariah and Rabid Psychotic Relapse, because the first one is very catchy and second one is extremely heavy.” – Carlos Cantatore – Former Annihilator Drummer

The albumwas mastered by Jeff Waters of Annihilator, whom also makes a guest appearance with a guitar solo on the track ‘As Killers Breathe’. Featuring an eclectic mix of thrash, classic metal and rock, the album deals with the idea of humans being human and never willing to be completely satisfied, the debutis now available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and all other major online retailers.

The video is inspired by the dramatic story of a man, approaching the end of his life and trying something new! (hint, hint, breaking bad!)
