Born on a quiet street named Ivy Gardens Crescent, Ivy Gardens emerged from humble beginnings with an unwavering passion for creating music that resonates with raw energy and volume. Originally formed under a different name, the band, hailing from Niagara, Ontario, Canada, underwent a transformative journey. In 2020, fueled by their collective experiences as young musicians, Ivy Gardens took root and blossomed into a force to be reckoned with. With an EP already under their belts, they are gearing up to release their new album “Goon” on April 19. Ahead of this release, they are premiering the title track, which they comment on:

“Goon is a song that was written with the intention of being both rhythmically intricate, but ultimately danceable. Where the verses are filled with screaming lyrics from the point of view of a struggling addict, the chorus takes a more melodic approach, as the person in question experiences the ecstasy that comes with getting their fix. This song is filled with sonic surprises, and we hope it serves as a sweet release for all those “goons” out there.”

To support this album, Ivy Gardens will be embarking on a tour through Eastern Canada (dates listed below) and each stop promises to be a rip-roaring good time. One of their gigs is typically 30 to 40 unbroken minutes of high-energy, heavy-hitting music at a crushing volume. Beaten-to-hell drums, throbbing bass synth, searing organ, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge. One song flows immediately into the next.

Ivy Gardens wastes no time, gets the audience involved, and provides an immersive, belligerent, good time full of sweat, sludge, and grunge. They are recommended for fans of Truckfighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Goon” via its premiere on Outlaws of The Sun HERE.

“Goon” is out April 19th, 2024, and available for album pre-order at https://ivygardens.bandcamp.com.

“…the sonic equivalent of a panic attack.” – Canadian Beats

““Boner” has got a really cool groove, too, showing you what can happen when you’ve got a band that is truly possessed by the power of The Riff. It’s one of those grinding, motoriffic jobs in the spirit of Kyuss’ “Green Machine.” And it doesn’t take long before we, too, are caught under its sway. The retro organ sound from the keys provides a spooky touch to the chorus, which comes like a sigh of relief after the tense build-up of those guitar-driven verses. The drumming is swarmy and frenetic, and strikes with power at pivotal moments. The breakdown at 4 minutes is a headbanging oasis, made even cooler with the synthesizer’s late-’60s garage twist.” – Doomed and Stoned

“This Canadian trio are promising us a debut album that is “a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge and sweat” when it is released in April. If this lead single is anything to go by, things are going to get very belligerent and sweaty when the full-lengther finally hits our death decks.” – Uber Rock

NATE SILVA (ex-The Slyde) Announces Canadian Tour Dates (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI) + New Video “Cauterize”

New Album “The Chase” Out May 2024

Nate Silva is a Canadian guitarist and singer/songwriter who has traveled through several sonic worlds throughout his career such as touring North America and playing at the massive Wacken Open Air festival proving that his versatile guitar work and captivating tenor vocals shine across multiple musical genres. Now, embarking on a solo career, accompanied by drummer/vocalist Matt Babineau and bassist /vocalist Dan Joseph, he delivers a dynamic and versatile rock experience that builds on the high-energy foundation of his past endeavours.

To introduce his new direction to fans, he is gearing up to release his first album “The Chase” in May, and prior to that, the single “Cauterize”. Also, for those fortunate to be in the area, he is announcing album release shows in June and August. He shares his thoughts on the single:

“There is more 1990s alternative rock inspiration on this one, and likely the angriest song on the record. This is the uglier side of grieving the end of a relationship and trying to deal with infidelity. The words are pretty on the nose with this one, so I’ll let the lyrics speak for themselves. Musically, I wanted a groovier song on the album, and I also wanted a song that could have potential for jamming or opening up in the middle section in a live performance setting.”

As a natural-born performer, he is a delight to watch as he channels a commanding stage presence and encourages audience interaction. The live lineup presents as your classic rock power trio, and in a trio, every member has to be on top of their game onstage. They provide an engaging and rockin’ live show, where musical integrity and musicianship is combined with thoughtful songwriting.

The live video for “Cauterize” is available now and is recommended for fans of Danko Jones, Billy Talent, and Green Day.

Prepare for a relentless onslaught of vulgar, belligerent punk, sludge, and sweat as Ivy Gardens, the sonic architects of chaos, emerge from the shadows of Niagara, Ontario to tour across Eastern Canada this coming May 2024 (dates listed below) in support of their forthcoming first full-length album “Goon”, arriving on April 19, 2024. Brace yourself for an immersive experience as the band delivers a nearly endless stream of beaten-to-hell drums, searing organs, throbbing bass synths, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge, which is showcased in their recently released first single and music video “Boner”.

“Opening with a relaxed groove that builds and builds to the heaviest possible climax, Boner has been a major highlight of our live set since it was introduced. Following the more relaxed pacing of the song, the softer vocal performance less seen in our music tells of a (seemingly) simple disagreement between two bitter individuals. Its bridge, the “101010” dirge, is by far the heaviest composition we have achieved to date, and we are so excited to finally send it out into the world.” adds the band.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Boner” at https://youtu.be/ZhGSSAPQUxA

The album “Goon” contains many tracks that current fans have been hearing live for a while. They know “Boner” is coming and Ivy Gardens knows many of them are frothing at the mouth for it. Since their thunderous inception in 2021, Ivy Gardens has been carving a path of destruction across the east coast of Canada and that will continue with a summer tour announced in the coming weeks.

The volume is crushing, leaving no room to breathe—the auditory manifestation of a panic attack. With no respite, Ivy Gardens invites you into their realm, where the mosh pit never stops, and the phantom ring in your ears serves as the only encore. “Goon” is recommended for fans of Kyuss, Truckfighters, and Queens of the Stone Age.

“Goon” is out April 19th, 2024, and available for album pre-order at https://ivygardens.bandcamp.com.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 24, 2023

VORTEX Unleashes New Video “The Future Remains In Oblivion” (Directed by Chris Kells of The Agonist)

New Album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” Out Now!

Canadian Tour Dates (QC, ON, NB, PEI)

Rimouski, Quebec’s Vortex has teamed up with Chris Kells of The Agonist to direct a new visual treat of an apocalyptic world where mankind must fight for their individual survival. The music video is for the title track from their latest album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” released this past June. It is one of the band’s favourite songs off the full-length along with being the most intricate.

““The Future Remains In Oblivion” (title track) has the most complex structure of the album, it may take a few listens to get into, but it’s a song that will stick over time. It is based around the orchestra and some technical playing and vocals; it is challenging to play live, and we get a kick out of nailing it.” adds the band.

The music video can be seen and heard via its premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

Vortex‘s third epic concept album is set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:

“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”

Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.

Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

The band will also be touring from the months of September to January performing across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and PEI where they will be joined by Aeternam, Serene Dark, Strigampire (2023 Wacken Metal Battle Canada Champions), and Beyond Fiction on select dates.

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“Melodic death, a bit technical and prog” – Mosh Pit Radio WORT 89.9FM (Madison, WI)

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

“After hearing their new material live November 2022, I was really looking forward to hearing the sequel and it may be darker than ever.” – Thorium Mag

“a band that takes great pride in weaving together cinematic stories set to orchestral melodic death metal. Canada’s very own Vortex is prepared to whisk you away to a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm in the latest album, The Future Remains In Oblivion.” – Canadian Beats

“The Future Remains In Oblivion est un disque coloré, aux mélodies chaleureuses et aux superbes guitares.
“The Future Remains In Oblivion is a colorful record, with warm melodies and superb guitars.” – Music Waves

“The breakdowns are huge in places. There are big moments where the influences pour through, but are blended with giant choral arrangements and symphonics. It’s absolutely like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie. I love the melodies, the harmonics, and the guitar solos. This is absolutely an album which ought to be part of your listening rotation this month. I was genuinely impressed with quite a bit of the entire album. I think that when you look at this album, the absolute banger of the title tack is 100% worth several spins with the blackened guitar riffs and tremendous choral arrangements.” – Metal Epidemic

“The songs you’ll find on this upcoming release are aggressive, but Vortex also has a strong melodic approach and lots of orchestrations combined with guttural, black metal vocals and diverse guitar playing that alternates between howling snippets and beautiful, emotional riffs. Recommended for fans of Shadow of Intent, Septicflesh, and Dimmu Borgir.” – RTMB Music

Diner Drugs is a four-piece stoner metal punk crew, born out of a desire to defeat the boredom of east coast living. Diner Drugs is fast, loud and are always keen to turn up the heat with catchy choruses and deep vocal harmonies while sticking to their deep stoner metal roots. They are ready to hit the road this spring and have a flashy new single “This War” coming out to get fans excited. The single is the first look at a new EP that will be coming out this year. The band explains in detail:

“This is the first single off of our latest EP titled “42”. We are proud of this loud and driving track, complete with catchy choruses and an epic, heavy ending. This song features powerful vocals, with lyrics warning about the dangers of assuming things will work out for the best, without cautiously preparing for the worst. So much hard work from so many people went into this, it’s loud and fast and we hope everyone digs it.”

The tour this spring will take Diner Drugs all over the east coast of Canada. With relaxed attitudes and groovy riffs, they enjoy bringing fun metal to people and enticing them to headbang. Loud and energetic is their goal, and their lyrics come from both personal experience and witnessing the experiences of others. They live in a have-not town, so they are more than familiar with hard times. They draw from these troubles for inspiration and hope to maybe help anyone stuck in these situations feel a little less alone in their battles.

It’s loud, fast, meaningful metal, and according to the band the song means a lot more to them this time around and they feel it reflects in the upcoming record. They are recommended for fans of Cancer Bats, Dead Quiet, and Mokomakai.

“Jack Of All Trades” uses clever drum timing between guitar riffs which assaults the senses in different ways and rattles your eardrums like an off-balanced washing machine. The skate punk style writing of this track will have you wondering if NOFX and Suicidal Tendencies had a baby.” – Sarah Hellingwerf, The East

“Diner Drugs is one of those “f&*k all” bands that play heavy, fast and dirty rock.” – Jamie Robash, Divide and Conquer Music

“As a Canadian fan, nothing is more disappointing then when one of my favorite bands announces Canadian tour dates and only plays a few cities. Our goal for the Spring is to really dig deep into our home country and see a side of Canada most people never get to enjoy.” says Ian Nichols, vocalist.
