NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 17, 2018

For fans of Lamb of God, Gojira, Chimaira, All Shall Perish, & In Flames

Multifaceted Metallers MY HOLLOW Premiere Video “And Now We Fall” via Bravewords

L-R – Greg Gallagher – Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Sean De Faria – Bass, Graham Daniel Gaudreault – Vocals, Angelo Giammattolo – Drums, Lenny Chiasson – Lead/Rhythm Guitar

Toronto heavy-hitters MY HOLLOW are premiering their new sound in their lyric video for “And Now We Fall” via Bravewords.com. This single is laying the foundation for their new style going forward, since their full-length “On Borrowed Time” (2015). It gives fans a sense of their songwriting, lyrics, and anticipated heaviness for the band in their thematic video by Gabe B. at P.S. Studios. The stand alone track will “leave you hollow, and wanting more,” comments guitarist Greg Gallagher.

Watch “And Now We Fall” at the following link: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-my-hollow-premiere-and-now-we-fall-lyric-video

Gallagher adds:

“Our new single “And Now We Fall” has a lot a catchy riffs, heavy breakdowns and a more mature feel to the music than previous releases. We’ve been gearing more towards songwriting that is more evolved (than our back catalog) and really focusing on taking the listener to new places, without losing our initial passion and signature sound.”

Since their conception MY HOLLOW have managed to score opening slots with The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Threat Signal, Beneath The Massacre, in addition to earning a position at the 2013 Wacken Metal Battle Canada finals. The five piece will be wrapping up recording and preparing for a future album release as a follow up to their previous full-length in 2015.

About:

MY HOLLOW crafts intense riffs and passages seamlessly giving way to lower, heavier parts in a lock-up, chunked out style with mutes leaving empty space in an otherwise chaotic sequence. Based out of the Toronto area, The band boasts a cast of independent metal journeymen, hungry to be heavier, tighter, and more engaging with every song. They strive to become an ever-present staple in the Canadian and global metal scene and will stop at nothing to leave you hollow, and wanting more.

Rock tinged melodic metalcore / post hardcore Vancouverites THIS GUN FOR HIRE will be unleashing their debut album ‘Something A Little More Sinister’ on March 31, 2017. The band comments on the video:

“You ever been to one of those parties where you feel like you’re on top of the world? Well this isn’t one of those parties. Welcome to Barn Burner! Where the drinks aren’t free and the girls ain’t pretty. Get ready for a night full of hazards, disasters, and bastards where there’s no going home! Barn Burner is This Gun for Hire‘s party jam that doesn’t let up, even for a second. Delving into the Canadian atmosphere of bush and house parties. About:

Decadawn is a melodic death metal band from Montreal, Canada. In 2014 they released their first album ‘Solitary Confinement’ which features guest vocals from Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) on the album’s title track. The band had some minor lineup changes since the release of their album. The full lineup is now made of: Louis-Charles Tardy (founding member, vocals, guitars), Pierre-Olivier Merizzi (lead guitars), Frank Larouche (rhythm guitars), Colin MacAndrews (drums) and Jean-Daniel Poirier (bass). They are currently working on their next album, which should be released in 2017.

– 30 –

“Montreal melodic death metal band Decadawn is onto something here. This band is doing its best to change the game plan of what most fans think melodic death metal should sound like. After releasing a demo in 2001, it took 13 years to finally release the band’s full-length debut, Solitary Confinement. Decadawn is a “newer” band giving a go at the traditional Gothenburg sound. They possess many trademarks of the popular ’90s melodeath sound reminiscent of At The Gates and early-era In Flames with a touch of Children Of Bodom (minus the keyboards). However, the thing that separates Decadawn from the rest of the melodeath pack is the cleaner, melodic, power metal vocals they incorporate throughout each of the ten tracks. (…) Solitary Confinement is a new twist on a tried and true genre with a few splendid surprises. Decadawn is a band to keep your eyes (and ears) on in the future.”
– Kelley Simms (BraveWords.com)

“One of 2014’s biggest unsigned surprises and without a doubt a true highlight of melodic death metal! One to keep both eyes on!”
– Alex Melzer (The Metal Observer)

“Solitary Confinement is a great album that will appeal to a wide spectrum of fans across the melodic death metal genre.”
– Tim Blevins (MusicReview)

Traversing between djent and technical progressive metal, Edmonton’s PROTOSEQUENCE are ready to give fans a taste of their live performance through their exclusive premiere with Djent Worldwide TV. The video features their single ‘Guardian’ from their 2016 EP Schizophrene with live footage shot by Nick Laird Photography at local live music venue The Mercury Room. The band brought out their fans for the music video and and it can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMRKEmnCZhU

Guitarist and vocalist Parker comments on the making and release of the video:

“We have been laying low the past little while, working on getting our new EP done for 2017. We  figured it was time to release that little video we shot a while ago. Also, can’t thank Nick (Laird) and Lucas (Gould) for filming this video and the fans who came out to support us. They’re the real MVP’s here!”

About:

Edmonton’s own Protosequence offer a rush of groovy guitar parts met with story-filled lyrics and serene, landscape-sized instrumentals that roll like hills into a valley.

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph (vocals), and Ryan (ex-bassist). Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band draws influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a foothold on their influences, they root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums, and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing. Each live performance is crafted like an album played from front to back, with each song bearing a story and painting the room like a canvas — leaving the colours and experiences on each audience member.

The band is currently planning to release another EP as a follow up to their 2016 release ‘Schizophrene’ that will be announced early 2017. Check out their website for more details: www.protosequence.com

Idobi Radio Video Premiere: LUCID AFTERLIFE ‘Time Killaz ft. Merkules’

Reveal EP ‘Occult Mafia Mistress’ Artwork & Track Listing

Vancouver progressive groove rockers LUCID AFTERLIFE are challenging musical composition with each song that they have been writing since 2012. Their name is more of a destination than a title for vocalist Nat Jack who hopes to inspire fans to be as unbridled as their music. The collective vision for the band is driven by Nat at the forefront, guitarist Thom Turner (Freya), Miles Morrsion on Bass, and Matthew Shearlaw on drums.

The band’s diversity allows them to explore all creative avenues and continue to be a flexible group that could be hailed for their hip-hop sensibilities and rock dynamics in one review. Instrumentally they draw on their myriad of influences including David Bowie, Monster Magnet, Wu-Tang Clan, Led Zeppelin, and finally A Perfect Circle.

Their next EP ‘Occult Mafia Mistress’ (release date to be determined) is a collection of songs that lyrically conjure out a certain aspect of Jack’s psyche, a part he is learning to respect and accept. It represents the part of humanity that remains hidden and needs to be drawn out from an internal dialogue that fans can have with each song. The writing process begins to take shape in the lyrics, which touch on indulgence and encouraging everyone to enjoy all pleasurable aspects of life.

Teaming up with Idobi Radio, LUCID AFTERLIFE is giving fans a taste of what’s to come from the EP with their new music video ‘Time Killaz’ featuring a collaboration with Vancouver rapper Merkules.

“Every project Lucid AfterLife brings into existence is different than the last, so when the opportunity to work with one of Canada’s most influential emcees, Merkules Stevenson came to us we decided to create something right out of the box. Time Killaz is an audio and visual journey through the phenomena of time, life & death and also mans quest to take his consciousness beyond space and time all together. On yet another level it is about people wasting your time and the desire to free yourself of those vibes. I produce all of our music videos and this was my first time working with the talented team from Lovero Films, they really stepped things up and helped me bring to life a visual story that is time bending in itself, we had a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy.” comments vocalist / guitarist Nat Jack.

About:
NECRNOMICON have a well-earned reputation for quality by releasing material only when ready and satisfied with the outcome ever since their demo entitled “Morbid Ritual” (1992) firmly established their name within the underground. “The Silver Key” EP (1996) led to mainstream recognition on a national level, but their debut album “Pharaoh Of Gods” (1999) and the sophomore “The Sacred Medicines” (2003) did even more to establish the band as a household name in Canada. “Return Of The Witch” (2010) marked the international break-through for NECRONOMICON, and saw them performing at prestigious festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Ragnarok (Germany), and the Barge To Hell metal cruise among others, while sharing stages with acts such as CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, and MORBID ANGEL, to name but a few. Their steady advance around the globe grew considerably in impact by their next full-length “Rise Of The Elder Ones” (2013). Now NECRONOMICON are more than ready for the next step with ‘Advent Of The Human God’, their latest brutal assaulting soundtrack now available via Season of Mist for Europe as of March 18th and North America as of March 25th.

Delivering a lethal dose of symphonic, blackened death at a new height in their long lasting career, which began as early as 1988 with the founding of the band by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep northern part of Quebec, Canada known as the “Fjord of Saguenay”

The Canadian veterans keep their tracks on ‘Advent Of The Human God’ as gloriously epic as furiously massive and harsh. Songs like “The Golden Gods”, “Unification Of The Four Pillars”, “Crown Of Thorns” and “I Bringer Of Light” tell of experienced songwriting and an eclectic wide range of influences that flow into the sound ofNECRONOMICON. Nodding to DIMMU BORGIR and BEHEMOTH to DEICIDE and SUFFOCATION, these extreme metal addicts carve their own sound out of the much cherished ingredients of brutal dark music.

About:
Sludgehammer is a five piece Canadian metal band formed in 2013.  The band began with guitarist Jeff Wilson and drummer Fernando Villalobos jamming together, which quickly resulted in writing songs and searching for a full line up.  Their search led to vocalist Chris Szarota, who possessed an astonishing vocal ferocity and bassist and vocalist Dan Ayers, who passed the audition as a bassist and also revealed a golden voice.  Thus, the first incarnation of Sludgehammer was formed.

The four members worked hard over the next few months to put together a demo, which was released at the band’s first gig on November 22nd, 2013.  The demo was well received even though it was completely self-recorded and the gig offers kept on coming, along with new fans.

With the success of the demo, the band knew that it was time to step things up and hired producer Christian Anderson for their 2014 release, ‘Organ Harvester’.  During the writing sessions, the band decided that Chris and Dan should share vocal duties for this record, as Dan’s voice had been absent from the demo.  The dual vocals proved to be a force to be reckoned with and on August 11th, 2014 ‘Organ Harvester’ was released to rave reviews.

‘Organ Harvester’ gained both new fans and better shows, gathering serious momentum and solid name among the metal community.  However by 2015, after playing many gigs with the ‘Organ Harvester’ material it became very obvious that the fans were hungry for more.  The band began writing more songs for the next release and kept playing gigs, which led them to guitarist Tyler Williams.  Tyler was working as a sound man at the Atria in Oshawa, ON where Sludgehammer was playing, and after their performance, Tyler approached the band.  They set up a jam and in July 2015, Tyler Williams joined Sludgehammer.

The new five piece line up produced a much fuller sound as Jeff and Tyler began working together.  The old songs were given new life and badass new material was being written for their next release, titled ‘The Fallen Sun’.  The new songs featured dynamic vocal performances from Dan and Chris, mind bending guitar solos, heavy riffs and blistering drumming.  As the songs started to pile up, Sludgehammer discussed recording a full length album.  Tyler suggested that they record at his studio, Monolithic Productions.  The band set up shop there and are now ready to unleash ‘The Fallen Sun’ for release on June 10, 2016.

Set to unleash their debut full length album ‘The Fallen Sun’ officially on June 10th, Toronto, ON’s SLUDGEHAMMER have posted a new music video for their track ‘Carrion Eater’, which is one of eleven fist pounding tracks that features the dynamic vocal performances from lead vocalist Chris Szarota and bassist Dan Ayers, along with a showcase of mind bending guitar solos, heavy riffs and blistering drumming fury to follow up their 2014 EP ‘Organ Harvester’.

“Sludgehammer is proud to present ”Carrion Eater” as our first music video from ”The Fallen Sun”. This is one of the first songs we wrote for the record and it has become one of our favorites. It was an ambitious track to create as we were trying to combine a lot of different musical elements into a cohesive song. We eventually got it to the point where it is now, an energetic, venom spittin’ ,leg stompin’, headcrusher! It was a lot of hard work creating this record, but also a lot of fun. We’re hoping everyone can enjoy it like we do.” comments guitarist Jeff Wilson. The album was self-produced by the band and mixed by guitarist Tyler Williams and mastered by world renowned producer & engineer Lasse Lammert (Gloryhammer, Alestorm, Teramaze) at LSD Studio in Germany.

“This was our first foray into recording in a studio environment plus working with a producer and mixer. Having a team of people around us helped us produce better songs at a higher quality to give our fans the chance to hear what we’re truly about without the barrier of poor recordings. It’s our jump from the basement to the studio, the raw energy is still there, but there’s an added level of detail to each track. We wanted to make a significant jump forward in quality and songwriting plus for fans who have been following us, we think they’ll be pleasantly surprised.” comments vocalist/guitarist Jack Cerre.

BLACK ABSINTHE’s powerful heavy riffs and bass lines are reminiscent of classic thrash and new wave British heavy metal with a range of progressive to classic rock influence ready to be shared with fans new and old alike.

The title “Early Signs of Denial” is a conceptual connection to the themes of fear, corruption, and overcoming disparity, which is explored in the album’s songs. The record has emphasis of crushing modern tone, polished instrumental sections, soaring vocals and a blending of contemporary and classic metal. With each track, this unique record represents different aspects of BLACK ABSINTHE’s diversity in song writing. The band does not tread lightly over their new wave of British heavy metal song style or their technical and progressive metal influences.

About:

Formed in 2011 by vocalist and guitarist Jack Cerre, bassist Kyle Scarlett and drummer Austin Henderson, the trio continue to rip through the underground Toronto metal scene without pause.

Compounding heavy riffs and bass lines reminiscent of classic thrash and new wave British heavy metal with a range of progressive to classic rock influence, Black Absinthe presents a solid example of a Canadian metal band. They’re road hungry, influenced plus supported by other driven Canadian musicians and most of all, ready to innovate and grow the traditions of a genre they venerate and respect. As leaders in the scene, Black Absinthe were headlining Toronto semi-finalists in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2015.

With a new year ahead, Black Absinthe pushes on with their desire to provide their fans in Canada and online with a cleaner and heavier presentation of their sound. The years incubating in Toronto’s metal underground have served the band well. From their 2012 debut EP Augusta to their 2014 EP Noise Complaint, both releases have established the band’s sound as well as their stage presence, leading to their driven heavy metal machine. Now in 2016, Black Absinthe are ready to release their debut studio album Early Signs Of Denial (May 13, 2016). The album was produced by Dave Baksh (Cross Dog, The Mahones) out of the Gentleman’s Den studio in Pickering, ON who’s experience proved to be the final touch; aiding in refining drum dynamics, smoothing the transitions and layering harmonic guitar lines. Black Absinthe’s Early Signs Of Denial sound is a leading example of the contemporary Canadian metal scene serving to showcase how the band sounds in a crisp, powerful, and ultimately more professional recording environment.

The title “Early Signs of Denial” is a conceptual connection to the themes of fear, corruption, and overcoming disparity, which is explored in the songs.

Through the bands expanding network cultivated through Coalition Music’s “Artist Entrepreneur Program”, they chose Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie- Hillbilly Deluxe) to mix and master the album in the Winter of 2015. His strong ability to work with a diversity of sounds was the appeal to the band. His mixing took the album into the sonic spheres of a classic 80’s sound providing, grandeur, psychedelia, and an arena rock feel that could properly represent the textures put down in tracking. There was an immediate trust formed with the stylistic choices Gryner made throughout mixing.
