BornBroken Announce Limited Edition Hockey Jersey; Make Donation On Behalf of Rock The Cause Charity Concert To Montreal Children’s Hospital

Performing at the third annual benefit show Rock The Cause last December in Montreal, QC. Groove metal band BornBroken is proud to announce with Rock The Cause that just under 3,000 dollars was raised for The Montreal Children’s Hospital. The band was joined by Melting Point, One Night Stand, Monkey Bones and Your What’s Itchy. The picture below is of BornBroken guitarist Mike Decker (far left) making the donation with Peter Chritchlow of Melting Point, Patrick Birnie of Monkey Bones, Daniel Haque from Rock The Cause staff, Rock The Cause event organizer Steve Hart with Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation Rep Tatiana.

BornBroken guitarist Mike Decker comments:
“I’ve been involved with Rock The Cause for the past three years doing designing and marketing for the event. When my band BornBroken was asked to play the 2013 event, myself and the band we’re excited and also humbled. Music is used for many reasons, to soothe the soul of the savage beast or to heal the hearts of many. Rock The Cause chose to take a usual gig night and turn it into an event where we give back to the community. We hope to be involved in many more of these over the next couple years and you can still donate to the foundation in the name of rock the cause/BornBroken.”
In additional news, the band has created a limited edition BornBroken hockey jersey just in time for Olympic Hockey, and being Canadian and all… the band is wishing good luck to Team Canada (both womens and mens) to bring home the GOLD!!!
“Keeping up with going for things just a little bit out of the ordinary, BornBroken have decided to put out a hockey jersey just in time for Canada to go for the gold at the Olympics in Sochi. If any of you are interested, you could go hit us up at http://bornbroken.bandcamp.com/merch and check out the merch section. What goes better with a hard-hitting sport in the frozen tundra but a little bit of BornBroken on your chest. Seeing as the jersey is a little pricey, we decided that from a little good faith on your part, the band will donate a percentage of the sale in your name to Rock The Cause.’ comments guitarist Mike Decker.

BornBroken‘s debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ was released in June 2013. The album was fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus being named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal. They have also received great admiration from Yell Magazine! quoting ‘This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.’ and TheFrontRowReport.com quoting ‘BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.
About:
BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.
After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.
On their debut album, The Healing Powers of Hate, BornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.

Set for release on March 25th, ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is a tribute to the city of Montreal, QC and its nightlife that front man Karim Terouz has fallen in love with since calling it home after immigrating from Cairo, Egypt. Produced by the great Glen Robinson known for his mixing and mastering credits on projects with Dave Grohl’s Probot, The Ramones, David Bowie, AC/DC, Keith Richards, The Tea Party, Grim Skunk, Ringo Starr, The Beach Boys and many more over the course of his career. ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is the perfect soundtrack for one of Canada’s most vibrant city’s.
“‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is really an observation of the new guy in town and written with a slight abstract touch to leave the space for the listener to relate to his/her own experiences. It depicts the colours and sultry details of the city’s nightlife.” comments vocalist/guitarist Karim Terouz.
Last month, The Rising Few teamed up with the city’s leading francophone weekly VOIR to premiere the first music video and title track, which the band is offering as a FREE Download at the following links.

About: The Rising Few was born when professional illustrator Karim Terouz left his hometown of Cairo at the age of 25, he not only made the ballsy decision to brace the blistering Canadian winters, he also chose to seek out a whole new career path in Montreal.
Turning to his true passion – music – Terouz began visiting every open mic night imaginable, which is how he came to discover Hubert Tremblay (Guitars) and Andrew Sudlow (Bass), the rest (Isaac Gesse on Trumpet and Harvey Bienaime on Drums) followed through to complete The Rising Few.
Fusing folk, blues, rock and pop, The Rising Few found their sound. One which showcases influences such Cat Stevens, The Tragically Hip and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Terouz’s Egyptian heritage with the band’s R&B / soul inspirations.
30 live shows later and a first place win at the LME showcase competition (http://www.landmarkevents.net) in which the band beat out 200+ others for top honours, the band is ready to indulge music fans in some “punchy Montreal soul” with their upcoming album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’.

Montreal’s MIRE Announce Release of Inward/Outward; Offer Free Download; Music Video ‘Limitless Pt. 2’

Rising out of Montreal, QC’s vibrant music scene, progressive rock / metal band MIRE are proud to announce the official release of their debut album Inward/Outward on March 18th to follow up their 2010 self titled EP.
Two years in the making, Inward/Outward is a 10 track reflection of ideas flying every which way around the recording studio, ranging from cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan by guitarist Dave Massicotte.
“We created this with our guts and have dared to explore a less common style of metal where the music is less obvious and sometimes requires the individual to have more than one listen before being able to grasp and really appreciate every musical element,” says guitarist Massicotte of the album. “From big chunky guitar to light piano melody, every song will take you on a different journey and set of emotions.”
The band has released the first music video ‘Limitless Pt. 2’ in support of the album, which can be viewed at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQnqLxFv5oM
FREE Download – Soundcloud stream: http://soundcloud.com/mireband/04-limitless-pt-2

“Limitless Pt. 2 is about waking up from your daily grind to acknowledge the mysticism of your existence. The potential of what mankind is capable of, starts in the hands of its individual subjects – it starts with you. As the title implies, Limitless is an expression of how far you should push your ambitions in all directions to fulfill your own ideal based on your individual experience.’ says vocalist JP LaChapelle. “MIRE celebrates diversity, because slaving to fit the mold serves another. Enough of us have been sacrificed for a semblance of freedom, and to perfect it takes mad balls. Courage to confront fear every single morning, day and night, live on the edge of your seat at all times and lean forward – goad life to ‘come at you bro’. Developing your conscience allows you to stretch out the fiber of the NOW and analyse it. Establish objectives; try 10 times in different ways until you succeed. OWN YOUR DESTINY. That’s the passion we felt when we created Limitless together.”

Track Listing: Inward/Outward
