Seven Year Storm, the Vancouver-based instrumental progressive metal band created by freelance drummer / instructor Sean Lang with added support from guitar-wizard and good friend Dean Lamb (Archspire) is proud to announce he will be releasing ‘Aion I’, the first of two EPs for 2015 on February 24, 2015.

“I’m really excited to finally release my first EP this February! It has been a long time coming, and it wouldn’t have been possible without my many amazing supporters. Keep your eyes and ears open for my first single, coming very soon!” comments Lang.

About:

Initially never planning to release his music compositions beyond the borders of just song writing, freelance drummer / instructor Sean Lang was urged by his circle of musician friends whom heard his material to take his creativity to the next level.

The outcome is Seven Year Storm, which showcases Lang’s unique sound, music arrangements written entirely by him plus guitarist Dean Lamb (Archspire) whom handles all of the mind-bending guitar leads and solos. Everything comes together into songs that are tight and heavy, melodic and groovy, technical yet memorable.

To get these works of art off the studio floor, Lang launched an Indiegogo campaign (video can be viewed here) to raise the necessary investment to complete the first collection of songs, which will be released in 2015 as two EPs: Aion I and Aion II.

WACKEN METAL BATTLE CANADA – WINNIPEG – ROUND ONE & TWO – JAN 16th & 17th @ The Zoo

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce that their Winnipeg battles will be taking place on January 16th and 17th @ The Zoo. Winners from these rounds will be facing off in the prairie final in Regina, SK on February 20th at The Exchange against Saskatoon’s winning bands with one winner moving on to the national final in Toronto, ON in June (date to be determined). The winning band from the national final in Toronto, ON will go on to represent Canada at the international final that includes over 30 participating countries at the world’s largest metal fest Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany taking place from July 30th to August 1st.

About:

WMBC has seen Canada’s top metal bands battle each other since 2013 for one to rule them all and perform at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany. Toronto’s Crimson Shadows (2013 winners – video at Wacken) and Montreal’s Mutank (2014 winners – video at Wacken) have had that honour, playing in front of thousands.

Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2015 band submissions are now closed for the following Canadian cities Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals from the months of January to May 2015 selecting the top band to move forward to the national finals in Toronto, ON in June (date to be determined) with one being selected to perform at the 26th edition of Wacken Open Air taking place from July 30th to August 1st. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

The finalists will be selected as follows.

1 finalist from BC (Vancouver & Victoria will face off)

1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off)

2 finalists from Toronto, ON

1 finalist from Quebec (Montreal & Quebec City will face off)

1 finalist from Ottawa, ON

1 finalist from Saskatoon or Winnipeg (Saskatoon and Winnipeg will face off)

INSURRECTION Unleash Teaser For Upcoming Music Video ‘Prototype’

Assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English since their conception in 2003, Gatineau, QC death metal band INSURRECTION has unleashed a teaser for their upcoming music video ‘Prototype’ filmed by La Corp and set to be revealed on February 3, 2015. ‘Prototype’ is the title track from INSURRECTION‘s first crowd funded and third full length album produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) released via Canadian label Galy Records in late 2013.

ARBITRATOR is a project that began in late 2010 as the brainchild of Robert Kuklaand officially debut in 2011 with the EP ‘The Consummate Ascendancy’ with former drummer Corey Chernesky. Now with a new arsenal that features Kukla on rhythm guitar, bass and vocals with drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, ex-Devin Townsend Project, ex-Aborted), Myles Malloy on lead guitar and Connor ORT Linning for programming. The band will be unleashing their 2015 release ‘Indoctrination of Sacrilege’ on February 13th produced by Sacha Laskow (ex-Divinity, Every Hour Kills) plus mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy) along with album artwork done by Colin Marks (Exodus, Scar Symmetry, Jeff Loomis).
