Western Canada’s decibel breaking festival LOUD AS HELL is proud to announce the 2020 line up for its ninth year of heavy metal and camping in the prairie badlands of Drumheller, Alberta. Roaring from the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds from July 31st to August 2nd, this year’s festival headliners over the 3 nights will include Denver’s extreme metal titans ALLEGAEON, Toronto heavy metal acrobats SKULL FIST plus brutal progressive death from Vancouver’s NECK OF THE WOODS. Toronto doom duo ITUS are streaming their debut EP “Primordial” due out March 13th. The EP is the first of two that will culminate into a full-length album.

The EP’s songs focus around aggressive, dark and primal concepts and embrace the death metal roots of the duo. They explain their goals for the release’s reception:

“We think that this EP will manage to ensnare those who are into heavier music, as well as attract other listeners who may not be so into death metal and related genres. The clean vocals and bright lead guitars really lighten up the darker, heavier passages of the songs. Reinier’s aggressive, chortling screams and yelling portrays an unhinged, brooding darkness, sure to keep listeners on the edge of their seats.”

Fans of Electric Wizard, Sleep and Left Behind are sure to enjoy the doomy and stoner rock rumbles of ITUS and their debut “Primordial”.

About:

Early in 2019, ITUS was formed by Brandon Lucking (guitars) and Reinier Vandenbosch (vocals), who at the time, were in another band with a different style but looking to try something new. The result was these Ontario boys blending doom and stoner rock with crushing heavy metal passages, in a psychedelic atmosphere of horror influenced sounds.

The writing process is fairly simple for ITUS, Lucking writes the melodies as they come to him, and Vandenbosch writes the vocals and lyrics. The foundation of the lyrics always starts from personal experience, traumas, and how events in life unfold which are further imbued with influence from science fiction and horror fiction, mythology, dark philosophy, and political angst.

The soundscape of horrors that ITUS paints is enthralling already as a two-piece online project, and there are plans on the horizon to build it into a full-on touring 3 piece band delivering an energetic and abrasive live experience with a heavy, brooding ambiance.

Calgary’s Benevolent Like Quietus are now streaming their debut album “Kill The Bliss”. The brooding quintet has been working on this album for quite some time and are very excited to show off the product of their hard work which includes everything from writing to recording and mastering.

The album gives a well-rounded introduction to the Canadian band, encompassing everything from heartbreak, death, depression, to religious criticism.

“Overall, the album has a tortured feel for sure. It’s brooding, depressive, dark, uneasy and often aggressive. Listening to it you can understand why we named it “Kill the Bliss”. Canadian metal powerhouse IMONOLITH has revealed the fourth single, ‘Becoming The Enemy’ featuring a guest appearance by well-known Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström, from their upcoming debut, “State of Being” due out March 27th.

A lyric video for ‘Becoming The Enemy’ is available today via Consequence of Sound HERE.

“’Becoming the Enemy’ is a song about becoming your own worst enemy,” says drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen. “All of us have done it at some point in our lives. The point of the song lyrically is to learn from your mistakes instead of repeating them over and over.”

The lyric video for ‘Becoming The Enemy’ features a character called “The Sickness” who reprises his role from the ‘Instinct’ video, released in January.

“We continue the theme we started in ‘Instinct,’” RVP explains. “The theme of our album ‘State of Being’ is about how people deal with various states of being throughout their lives. We thought having ‘The Sickness’ appear in a couple of videos would help tie everything together and tell a visual story to go along with the album as a whole.”

The forthcoming full-length “State of Being” features 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks including ‘Hollow’ the debut single that made big waves for IMONOLITH straight out of the gate, racking up 216K Spotify streams in 2019. Having spent much of 2019 writing, arranging, recording and fine-tuning “State of Being”, the band worked incredibly hard to achieve their goal – to make an engaging heavy metal album. The Melbourne singer/songwriter has made her mark on the rock and metal scene with the release of her debut single ‘Monster’ in 2016, featuring guitar work by Brett Garsed (John Farnham Band) along with her 2019 follow up track ‘Lacuna’ distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Warner Music Group (Australia) and is the lead single off the upcoming album.

The single garnered a lot of media praise and created an opportunity for Victoria K to support Swiss folk metal giants Eluveitie for their May 2019 tour date in Melbourne, a performance that had the crowd chanting for an encore.

Although the album was originally a solo project, it has now developed into the current band structure with each member bringing their own energy and experience to the collective. The band is looking forward to collaborating on future releases and is now heavily focused on the release of this debut full length in April.

Victoria K has racked up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube with her own original creations and through featured videos alongside a number of talented musicians covering a plethora of songs. Victoria K‘s covers include Iron Maiden’s “The Trooper”, Nightwish’s “Last Ride of the Day”, Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” and Kamelot’s “Insomnia”, the latter of which received attention from the band themselves on Twitter and led to a meeting of talents when the American power metal band found themselves in Melbourne during their 2018 ‘The Shadow Theory’ Australian tour.

The brooding quintet has been working on this album for quite some time and are very excited to show off the product of their hard work which includes everything from writing to recording and mastering.

The album gives a well-rounded introduction to the Canadian band, encompassing everything from heartbreak, death, depression, to religious criticism. The second single starts with a modern goth rock feel right out of the gates. BLQ explains the track in further detail:

It’s the perfect blend of rhythm, beat, vocal melody and a lead picking arpeggiated chords that give the chorus a lot of dynamic and depth.”

The first single, ‘Front Line’, is a melodic track that has a heavy breakdown rhythm section prior to a soaring guitar solo. Dave Franco’s vocals are like a cannon and make this song a headbanger for everyone.

Recently unleashing his debut EP “Le Temps Peste” on February 7th, Maudiir, the one-man-band black /thrash project created by F. is offering the release for FREE download via Bandcamp HERE.

Coming from the underbelly of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Maudiir is an outlet for observations on obedience and industrialization riddled with man-made waste. With 80s heavy metal influences alongside black metal and punk, Maudiir is unique in sound; hauntingly dark while being corrosive and galloping.

Starting with guitar, F. works his way through each sullen track, adding drums, recording all the colorations and textures of the guitars, adding bass, and finally writing the words, very often at the same time they are being recorded.

The pessimistic aura of the music combines with lyrics about consumer society, religion, science going awry, addiction to technology, and environmental decay. “Le Temps Peste” is intense dark music. Another release is currently in the works.

Bio:

EXTREMA’s original line-up was established between 1985 and 1986 in Milan, Italy. In a very short time, the band led by guitars player Tommy Massara achieved a huge success. Tommy is the only remaining member of the original line-up, and over the years he also played the role of artistic and executive producer.

Hundreds of concerts made the band more and more close-knit and open towards a constant growth path, capable from the beginning of welcoming influences external to heavy metal, a consistent choice within an evolutionary framework which saw EXTREMA start from the rebellious attitude of MOTÖRHEAD to later incorporate the style of Californian thrash metal, a scene with which the band shared the utmost care for the technical side of music and a devastating presence on stage.

The band’s reputation as musicians and performers kept growing in a perpetual live context, with extensive tours and the participation to prestigious festivals with the likes of METALLICA, SLAYER, MOTÖRHEAD, and KORN, a.o.

Extraneous from the beginning to political and ideological implications of any kind, EXTREMA’s lyrics have always strived to alternate challenging and contemporary themes with lighter subjects, true to rock’n’roll form.

In May 2017 the band welcomed the new frontman Tiziano Spigno. Thanks to his entry, EXTREMA can finally release all the creativity repressed in recent years: a violent, direct and engaging approach which is – at the same time – also varied, courageous and experimental, resulting in the new album “Headbanging Forever”.

The Order of Chaos is proud to present the new single ‘Breakpoint’, from their upcoming album entitled “Maniacal”. This is the band’s first release in over 2 years since the release of the “Night Terror” EP and their first full-length album “Apocalypse Moon” was released over 4 years ago.

“Maniacal” is powerful, fast, to the point, hard-hitting 10 song LP full of memorable choruses and catchy hooks.

The album was engineered by Diego Fernandez at Oracle Studios and Nathan Kidd at Method Music Productions in Edmonton, AB and was mixed by Nino Laurenne at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland (Wintersun, Amorphis, Sonata Arctica) along with mastering done by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers Mastering in Espoo, Finland (Rammstein, Volbeat).

This album is The Order of Chaos’ most mature, cohesive and dynamic songwriting effort to date and it represents the end of an era for the band as a founding member, and primary songwriter John Simon Fallon has sadly decided to step away from the group upon release of “Maniacal”.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances surrounding its release, the band is incredibly excited to share this album with everyone who has supported them through the past 15 years as well as to all their maniacal heavy metal fans across the globe.

The first single ‘Breakpoint’ from the album is accompanied by a lyric video developed by Dwi Nugraha of Genoicide Artwork, which can be viewed via MetalInjection HERE.

“Breakpoint” is one of the first ideas I wrote for this album, and it took me over a year to perfect. It was quite a manic process. Like all other songs on this album, it is not just a bunch of convenient riffs sandwiched together without thought or consideration. It is written from the heart. The aggressiveness of guitars are built on some of the frustrations I had not only in both my personal and professional life, and lyrically it explores many of the sentiments Amanda and I had, around the time I knew that it was time for me to hit pause on my tenure in TOOC. It ended up being the opening track on “Maniacal” and also one of the singles which makes me extremely happy because I’ve been in love with this song since the minute Amanda and I started demoing it. It’s different from anything we’ve ever released but it definitely still has the signature sound our fans have grown to love. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean.” says John Simon Fallon

“Maniacal” presents a unique and fresh sound and modern direction for The Order of Chaos and allows the band to end this era of chaos on a high note.

The album will be formally released in 2020, with several additional singles being released over the next few months.
