Making an impact on the Canadian’s 80s thrash scene, Ottawa legends INFRARED returned this year to cement and carry on their own legacy with their new album “Saviours” featuring all new music to follow their EP “No Peace”, which featured tracks all written in the 80’s and only recently heard by fans in 2016. Featuring eight brand new tracks, “Saviours” is thrashy, aggressive, melodic, heavy, and tight, which is clearly evident in the band’s new music video “All In Favour” being premiered on Bravewords.

Check out the new video “All In Favour” – http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-infrared-premiere-all-in-favour-music-video

Vocalist / guitarist Armin Kamal comments about the new album:

“Infrared is extremely excited to release our sophomore album “Saviours”. This has been in the works for about 2 years now and is something we are very proud of. “Saviours” has fulfilled a goal of ours to create some brand new music the way we know how, with an old school 80s thrash feel along with a contemporary sound that encompasses our influences beyond the 80s.

While not explicitly a concept album, the album is heavily themed on the idea of false “Saviours” who claim to do good for others but are really self serving in their intentions. We like to inspire independent thought and a cautious view of the intentions of those who promote themselves as leaders. This message has been captured with 8 brand new songs that highlight the diversity in which this band makes music. While all songs stay true to our roots, they each offer a piece of what Infrared has to offer our fans. From fast and thrashy to melodic and dramatic, “Saviours” delivers a punch from start to finish.”

“Saviours” is available for download and stream on InfraredMetal.ca, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby and all other major online retailers.

“Straight up thrash metal with the heavy and fast riffs, pounding drums, and the thumping of the bass.” – Sleaze Roxx

“After sitting down and listening to Infrared’s ‘No Peace’ over a period of days, it’s safe to say that this is a solid thrash metal album that will easily please genre purists. It’s an aggressive offering, but it doesn’t take too many risks, nor does it have to. This band is extremely talented and this album is well worth your money.” – Metal At The Gates

“At times reminiscent of old school Metallica, sometimes Megadeth, sometimes something else entirely. In short, if you dig 80’s metal you should really give this album a listen. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I’m already looking forward to the next.” – Skull Banger

“No Peace grabs you by the balls from the first power chords of Inframental and doesn’t let up until the final note of In Search Of.” – Korea Guitar

“Overall, classic sounding, old school thrash metal from an era when thrash was still evolving, this album (No Peace) is a cracking introduction to the mid eighties thrash metal sound.” – Metal Gods TV

“For the sound and style, this is one of the top releases over the last year. The style was getting stale with many sound a-likes, now Infrared are here, so pick up your jaw and enjoy this bruiser of an album. “- Acier Doux Metal Management & Promotions Tunisia

Thrash metal never dies! Like some mutated metal monster; a Thrashzilla if you will, it sees off all trends; and comes back stronger than ever.

One of the reasons for this is the love both fans and musicians alike have for this most durable form of metal. Such a band are 80s legends Ottawa’s INFRARED; a band who made a big impact with Canadian fans in the 80s; and have in recent years returned to cement and carry on their own legacy, releasing a newly-recorded album of their classic material “No Peace” in 2016, which will now be followed by their new album “Saviours” due out May 25th, 2018.

An apt name for an album because INFRARED really are Saviours of classic thrash metal!

Describing INFRARED’s sound as “thrashy, aggressive, melodic, heavy, and tight”, guitarist/vocalist Armin Kamal explains that INFRARED’s inspirations run deep.

“The Big Four will stand out as we have been described as a band with a bay area sound…But our influences are truly rooted in 70s and early 80s metal. Accept, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest are all bands that laid the foundation and the love of metal for us!”

Armin is stoked for fans to hear INFRARED’s new “Saviours” album.

“Anyone who likes a more classic thrash sound, and longs for those days, just like we do, will dig this album. Since we are from that era, we are not trying to bring back that style of music, we are simply continuing what we know and do best!”

About:

It is one of the most magical moments in a band’s life when they release their debut album. We can only imagine what Kerry King and Tom Araya felt like on the eve of ‘Show No Mercy’ being unleashed on the world, or the excitement that must have coursed through Steve Harris and Dave Murray as their self-titled debut was about to escape into an unsuspecting and never to be the same again world.

Well, Medevil don’t just imagine it…their debut album ‘Conductor of Storms’ is about to explode in a blast of metallic thunder and lightning upon the earth.

Hailing from Chiliwack, BC, Medevil are a hard-working progressive band, constantly striving to improve their songs, a fact not missed by Wacken Metal Battle Canada, where Medevil made the top 6!

Band vocalist Liam Collingwood explains the band’s memorable moniker. ‘The band name was thought up by Eric and fits our style of music perfectly.’

Liam is very serious about the bands modus operandi. ‘Medevil formed as a creative outlet for each member. The goal of our band is to satisfy our creative desires, while maintaining our standard of quality and to expand our knowledge of music as a whole. In five words, I’d sum up our music as power/thrash/prog/heavy metal.’

Liam says if he had to pick one Medevil track to represent the band it would be ‘the song ‘Machination Factory’ as it is one of the heavier songs on the album and it’s also the newest song that we wrote so it’s fresher in our heads. We wanted to release something first that would be a good start at representing our band even though future songs may.’

Liam reveals that song-writing is very much a collaborative effort. ‘We normally have a bunch of riff ideas ourselves and then we all come together to complete our vision…We all take part in the writing. All the songs have some sort of collaboration going on, even though some may be very minor alterations. We try to collaborate on projects as much as possible without destroying the original vision.’

While the band collaborates strongly on the music, the lyrics are Liam’s department, as you’d expect. ‘Lyrics are normally written based on an emotion or a story I am thinking of at the time that I want to project. Although sometimes I have some melodies in my head that I really like which I try to put into my lyrics. Some songs are more about a story I am telling whether fictional or somewhat true. Others are about a feeling or emotion I am feeling at the time and can be hidden beneath metaphors.’

Liam is proud that Medevil have a high level of quality control when it comes to their music. ‘In total we probably scrapped eight songs in favour of the ones included on the album. Our early sound, from 2011-2014, was mostly a rock-esque type of metal. ‘In The Distance’, ‘The Angel of Rain’ and ‘A Sacrifice’ are all from the early days of the band. When we included Brett and Gary in the band in 2014, we started leaning towards a much faster and more progressive style.’

A similar level of thought went into the track listing. ‘The track listing was a long task, it was most decided based on what we thought was the best listening experience for our fans and for how we like to set up our live shows with some changes. Fans can expect new material in the coming years and regular tours once or twice a year.’

Liam rates the bands live show highly. ‘People can expect a refined sound from us as well as a powerful energy, and a good connection between the band members. Fans can tell we are a band of friends!’

Liam reveals that the letter ‘M’ is very significant in Medevil’s top five influences, which are ‘Metalica, Megadeth, Mastodon, Metal Church, and Iron Maiden!’

And now we can add Medevil to that proud list of bands beginning with M who all released powerful a debut album.

OUT NOW! Yukon Power Thrashers SANKTUARY Unleash New Album ‘Winter’s Doom’

L-R: Anders Grasholm – Drums | Cole Hume – Bass | Alan Binger – Vocals, Guitar | Glen Emond – Guitar

Hailing from the harsh and blisteringly cold of the deep far North of Canada’s Yukon Territory situating themselves in the city of Whitehorse (pretty far north, like the Siberia of Canada eh!), power thrash champions SANKTUARY are ready to unleash their latest album ‘Winter’s Doom’ full of fierce and dynamic high speed riffs, catchy hooks, and belted out lyrics for the metal crowds.

‘Winter’s Doom’ is now out as of January 22nd and is fully streaming at the following links plus available on CD and for digital download.

“Winter’s Doom is a big step up for us and a step our homeland of the frigid North directed us in. The vast emptiness and shear mammoth proportions of this landscape lend a very helpful hand in open palm smacking the creative juices right into you. In this album the songs are faster, heavier and all around more to the tune we have always been drawn to. I’m sure all who listen will agree this is our best offering to date!” comments bassist Cole Hume.

About:

Power thrash champions SANKTUARY Hailing from the harsh and blisteringly cold of the deep far North of Canada’s Yukon Territory situating themselves in the city of Whitehorse (pretty far north, like the Siberia of Canada eh!). They have been trekking across the country for the past 6 years to bring their fierce and dynamic high speed riffs, catchy hooks, and belted out lyrics to the metal crowds.

A collective vision that began in high school with a group of like-minded teens fed up with the constraints of mainstream music who wanted to emulate the lifestyles of their favourite bands. Their straight-forward, no-bullshit attitudes shape their signature brand of heavy metal, which has led them to release the full length, 2013’s ‘Something Fierce’ that reached #19 on the national college radio loud charts, 2011’s ‘Tundrastruck’ split with Nova Scotia’s Black Moor and Montreal’s Metallian plus two EPs 2010’s ‘Black Magic’ and 2009’s self-titled.

Members of the band write harmoniously, basing each song off of a key riff from either Alan Binger (vocals and guitar), Glen Emond (guitar), or Cole Hume (bass), and then Anders Grasholm (drums) works his magic on the rhythm of each tune.

2016 see the band’s return with their sophomore album ‘Winter’s Doom’ set for release on January 22nd, 2016. The album features seven killer high speed, breakneck thrash metal tracks inspired by the Yukon’s far North they call home along with other issues such as politics, technology, etc..

“In the title track and album cover we portray ourselves as heavy metal warriors thriving in a habitat where most would perish instantaneously. That’s our homeland, the Yukon.” comments the band.
