Bravewords Presents Medevil’s “Among Thieves” Off Upcoming “Mirror In The Darkness” Out April 2023

Medevil is a highly energetic, fast-paced metal band known for its tight songwriting, intense stage presence, and roaring vocals. Back in 2016, they released their debut album “Conductor of Storms” and this year they are following it up with “Mirror In The Darkness”, which is dedicated to their late drummer Chris Malcolmson whose drums are recorded on the album. Their first single is “Among Thieves”, a straight-shooting thrashy metal song – with some interesting twists – that bridges the gap sonically between the two albums. Fans of the first album should appreciate this song. A triplet feels with unrelenting riffs, and catchy bass lines, that are brought to life through Liam Collingwood’s vocals and lyrical themes relating to greed, and stealing time (whether your own or someone else’s). The band comments:

“We are extremely excited to put this one out as the first taste of the new album. This song is definitely the thrashiest, which should connect a lot with people who enjoyed “Conductor of Storms”. It has probably the toughest riffs on the album, with all the riffs and layout here written by Gary, and keeps the energy high throughout. We feel like it’ll be a fan favourite live since there are some sections that are easy to chant, and the time changeup keeps it feeling interesting near the end. The lyrics talk about the greed living around us all, from any era, whether is financial greed or stealing someone’s time away from them.”

“Mirror In The Darkness” definitely has its singles that can be pulled out and enjoyed individually, but Medevil suggests that the best way to get the intended listening experience is to play it front to back in a sitting. They spent a lot of time considering the flow of the album, from fast and energetic to dark and brooding, so there is a lot of variety that will come from a fully engaged listen.

Progressive and powerful, Medevil is recommended for fans of Mastodon, Metal Church, and Accept.

Listen to “Among Thieves” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Mirror in the Darkness” comes out on April 7, 2023.

About: Medevil is a highly energetic, fast-paced metal band known for its tight songwriting, intense stage presence, and roaring vocals. They are one of the few metal bands coming out of Chilliwack BC and hold that title proud as they have earned much praise and respect since their inception in 2014. As one of the 6 national finalists of the 2015 Wacken Metal Battle Canada, they are becoming more and more renowned throughout the country; their fame attaining them a following in their local town and across through to Vancouver.

Their music could be described as “power thrash” with half of their set being chorus-driven, and the other half focusing on blistering fast riffs. Influences for the band include Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Metal Church. Their fast but catchy songs keep the crowd chanting throughout the set, and leave them wanting more. Liam Collingwood, the band’s singer, keeps the band image in theme with the songs while on stage and will wear thematic outfits when the mood demands it.

The band was founded on January 13, 2014, by Eric Wesa (bass), as well as brothers Liam (vocals) and Ross Collingwood (drums). It only took two months after the band’s inception before the boys found the ultimate guitar duo they were looking for, Gary Cordsen and Brett Gibbs. Once the lineup was solidified, they wasted no time performing shows and begin their musical journey. As a band, Medevil has two common goals; to explore their musical talents, and continue performing live for their fast-growing fanbase.

“Perfectly situated to please fans of classic heavy metal, Conductor Of Storms is very strong debut from the young Medevil.” – The Monolith (2016)

“Rejoice metalheads! Chiliwackian power thrashers, Medevil, has created a top-notch debut full-length album entitled Conductor Of Storms”. – Bravewords (2016)

“Play it loud, play it fast as heavy metal world has found another new soldier to carry on the flag in the form of “Medevil”” – Planet Caravan (2016)

“Conductor of Storms is one of the most complete, fully-formed and damn near perfect debut albums I’ve ever heard from a young heavy metal band. Tracks like Escape – a blustering, no-holds-barred mashup of Metal Church, Megadeth and Overkill – are just so mature, so faultlessly executed and so, well, heavy metal, it beggars belief that they are not being delivered by a band that’s been in the game for thirty years.” – Sentinel Daily (2016)

“Riding out of the cold wastes of western Canada on warhorses of steel comes Medevil with their amazing, self-released debut album Conductor of Storms. Bruising Traditional Heavy Metal is what these guys play and they play it well. Monstrous riffs and pounding, organic drums underscore the powerful vocals and intricate solos. The band has a taste for things epic, so no love songs or cliché odes to the Metal lifestyle here.” – Metal Crypt (2016)

Montreal, QC – March 30, 2020

For fans of Fates Warning, Metal Church, Testament, Stratovarius, Iced Earth

American Power Metal LOST LEGACY Cancel Tour Dates w/ Whiplash, Doro, Flotsam & Jetsam

Out Now! New Album “In The Name of Freedom” via Pure Steel Records

New York power metallers LOST LEGACY announce they will be canceling their scheduled April and May tour dates with Whiplash, Doro, Flotsam & Jetsam. The tour dates were to be in support of their new album “In The Name of Freedom” released on March 20, 2020 via Pure Steel Records.

The band issued the following statement:

“Dear fans and friends. We regret to announce the cancellation of our tour. It is unfortunate, but due to the worldwide pandemic, it’s unrealistic to think it will be safe to go on as planned.

It saddens us because this was to be the first leg of our tour supporting our newly released album “In The Name of Freedom”. Months went into planning, money, and resources to make this tour a reality. But it is best at this time to put people’s health first, this is priority one. Stay home and be safe! You can support us by getting a copy of our new album. We will look at planning another tour soon. Be safe and see you soon!”

Featuring forty-six minutes of pure metal, LOST LEGACY‘s sophomore release is a concept album serving as an act II to their debut full length, which was inspired by the tragedy of 9/11. The album “In The Name of Freedom” is available on Puresteel-Shop.com, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and Spotify.

The band comments about the full length:

“For ‘In The Name of Freedom” the inspiration was driven by Dave’s desire to write about ‘the men and women’ of our armed forces and about the lack of judgment among many media outlets that report without having all the facts – and how it divides people.

The album concept follows as part II to our first self-released album ‘The Aftermath’ that was inspired by the tragedy of 9/11. Vocalist Dave Franco took pen to paper and wrote about the tragedies and the heroism of first responders, soldiers and the survivors of this sad day in our history.

‘In The Name of Freedom’ is dedicated to the men and women of our armed forces that have sacrificed everything to protect our freedoms. As a band, we do not support war, but we are supportive of our troops and wanted to express our feelings about what they go through and the difficulties they face, from dealing with their own mortality and PTSD. It’s our way to honor them and say thanks. The album also has a song “Take Me Away” that relates to the way media outlets present news about shootings in our country and how before all the facts are known, they emit conclusions and judgments without knowing all the facts and how this has an effect on people by causing divide, riots, and misunderstandings.

This album delivers a twin guitar assault that blends heavy melodic riffs, intellectual musicianship, and superb vocals.”

LOST LEGACY has been around since 1998 and their dedication to their craft shows. Having four excellent musicians and a vocalist that can play guitar and write riffs makes for a plethora of ideas. With Franco’s vocal capacity and range, it has transformed them to write music that enhances his vocal performances and gives the band the freedom to play intellectual metal.

For fans of  Fates Warning, Metal Church, and Testament, LOST LEGACY is classic power metal with a modern edge.

Stage presence and entertaining the fans are of paramount concern to the band who pride themselves on their stage show. With an abundance of energy and they put their heart and soul into each show. Although very centric on power metal, the music has a lot of nuances that give each song a different feel and the crowd is kept on their toes with rhythm changes, tempo changes and melodies that stick.

“NY’s Lost Legacy Has Been Turning Out the Metal for Over Ten Years. A Killer Six Piece Band Who Know Their Instruments And How To Use Them. Raw Power And Pure Talent Is What You Get.” – Mike The Big Cheese, Heavy Metal Mayhem

“Lost Legacy a metal band out of Bronx NY, that formed in 1998 The latest album “”The Aftermath” came out in 2009 which was a tribute to those who lost their lives in 9/11. Some of the songs are Towers, Time Will Heal, Light The Candles, their music is packed with energy, catchy riffs and powerful vocals. A tour de Force.” – Robin Souls, Metal Messiah Radio

“It has been my pleasure to work with the band members of Lost Legacy. I found them on social media back in 2008 and was immediately drawn in by the timbre of David Franco’s voice, the guitar riffs are executed in their presentation, and the bass and drums finish off this bands talent by providing a solid foundation for metal madness at its best! Their original music content is well written and has a powerful impact, as in one of their songs Towers. Their music will engulf you and take you on a journey, one that no one would easily forget. The metal world needs to move over and make room for Lost Legacy.” Syria, Producer, and former DJ on Renegade Radio

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 6, 2020

For fans of Fates Warning, Metal Church, Testament, Stratovarius, Iced Earth

LOST LEGACY Share First Single ‘Front Line’ Off Upcoming Album “In The Name of Freedom”

Out March 20th via Pure Steel Records

New York power metallers LOST LEGACY will be releasing their new album “In The Name of Freedom” on March 20, 2020 via Pure Steel Records. Featuring forty-six minutes of pure metal, the sophomore release is a concept album serving as an act II to their debut full length, which was inspired by the tragedy of 9/11.

The band explains:

“The concept of ‘In The Name of Freedom’ is our way to thank our men and women of the armed forces for their sacrifice. It’s not about glorifying war, but these gallant people give so much and are often forgotten.”

The first single, ‘Front Line’, is a melodic track that has a heavy breakdown rhythm section prior to a soaring guitar solo. Dave Franco’s vocals are like a cannon and make this song a headbanger for everyone.

Watch the video for ‘Front Line’ via its premiere on Metal-Rules.com HERE.

LOST LEGACY discusses their expectations of the album:

“We believe that this album is a genuine representation of how we sound in a live setting. We take great pride in putting on a great show and when we approached this record, we wanted to have a live band feeling. Our fans will be pleased with the songs, the sound, and the production. The music has catchy guitar-driven riffs and soaring vocals. We promise it will deliver great energy and inspiration to fans of classic power metal.”

For fans of  Fates Warning, Metal Church, and Testament, LOST LEGACY is classic power metal with a modern edge.

Bio:
Thrash metal never dies! Like some mutated metal monster, a Thrashzilla if you will, it sees off all trends; and comes back stronger than ever fueled by love from fans and musicians alike. One such band are Ottawa’s ’80s legends INFRARED. A band who made a big impact with Canadian fans in the ’80s and in recent years returned to cement and carry on their own legacy.

Originally, Infrared was a high school band formed in the ’80s by friends who wanted to revel in the classic thrash sound that was quickly gaining traction. Collaborating on their sound since 1985 they have produced an EP (1988’s R.I.P.) and after rising from a 27-year hiatus, 2 albums “No Peace” in 2016 and “Saviours” in 2018.

Moving forward to make up for lost time, they bring a familiar aggressive and melodic classic thrash sound that is full of nostalgia, but also music that is still relevant and valid today. They explore topics that are basic human truths that don’t change over time and they consider themselves reporters through sound. Solidly rooted in classic thrash, Infrared pays homage to the Big Four and is dropping their new EP “Back To The Warehouse” in 2019 on June 14th to finally release the last of their classic material before the newest full-length studio album.

“I can happily say that if you’re a fan of that classic balls to the wall thrash metal sound then you will most certainly get a kick out of Infrared’s “Saviours”… a prime example of what thrash metal is and what it should always be. These Canadian thrashers have stayed true to the sounds they knew when they were in their earlier years and have bought that sound back to the modern era.”  – Overdrive Music Magazine

“It is an excellent album, killer thrash with NWOBHM melodic sensibilities, proper singing, hooks, the full nine yards!” – Hellbound

“a savage and brutal journey of eighties inspired thrash metal, laden with heaviness and menace, heads will be banging hard from start to finish.” – Metal Gods TV

“Their new album Saviours is a thrash party from beginning to end.” – Rock Portaal

“These guys play a heavy/thrash hybrid that’s highly melodic and at times is so damn catchy, some of the songs just stick in your head after the first listen. ” – The Metal Crypt

Ottawa’s INFRARED is debuting ‘Meet My Standards’ off their forthcoming EP “Back To The Warehouse”, which is being premiered exclusively on Bravewords.

The EP is a collection of some of the older material that INFRARED deems worthy to unleash unto the public ahead of their next full studio album anticipated for 2020 release.

“They are the last of the old songs that we felt should see the light of day. Our upcoming EP is 5 songs. 4 originals and one cover of an Iron Maiden song. We hope that fans will appreciate the old school thrash metal feel of the release. We feel they are strong songs with interesting twists.”

‘Meet My Standards’ follows the formula that was set by the Big Four that INFRARED has been meticulously channeling since 1985. Tight riffs and modern writing sensibilities, this EP is a trip back in time to 80’s thrash metal. It is aggressive and melodic with lots of guitars and vocal hooks.

The band explains the meaning behind the single:

“’Meet My Standards’ is a middle finger to societies’ desire to conform everyone to their standards. This song calls for the acceptance of independence and uniqueness.”

Making an impact on the Canadian’s 80s thrash scene, Ottawa legends INFRARED returned this year to cement and carry on their own legacy with their new album “Saviours” featuring all new music to follow their EP “No Peace”, which featured tracks all written in the 80’s and only recently heard by fans in 2016. Featuring eight brand new tracks, “Saviours” is thrashy, aggressive, melodic, heavy, and tight, which is clearly evident in the band’s new video “Father of Lies” being premiered on Decibel Magazine.

Vocalist Armin Kamal comments on the track:

“Father of Lies – Is the most layered song on Infrared’s “Saviours” album. It’s first three verses are pulled directly from the Bible which describes the Father of Lies (Satan), but the song moves to show the abuses of power from the clergy against its own practitioners, mainly children, in such an evil manner that it is clear they are no better than the father of lies they preach against. So here we have a group of people portraying themselves as saviours all while living complete lies and spewing lies in an effort to conceal and satisfy their sick desires.”

Check out the new video “Father of Lies” – https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2018/07/27/video-premiere-infrared-father-of-lies/

Kamal also adds about the new album:

“Infrared is extremely excited to release our sophomore album “Saviours”. This has been in the works for about 2 years now and is something we are very proud of. “Saviours” has fulfilled a goal of ours to create some brand new music the way we know how, with an old school 80s thrash feel along with a contemporary sound that encompasses our influences beyond the 80s.

While not explicitly a concept album, the album is heavily themed on the idea of false “Saviours” who claim to do good for others but are really self serving in their intentions. We like to inspire independent thought and a cautious view of the intentions of those who promote themselves as leaders. This message has been captured with 8 brand new songs that highlight the diversity in which this band makes music. While all songs stay true to our roots, they each offer a piece of what Infrared has to offer our fans. From fast and thrashy to melodic and dramatic, “Saviours” delivers a punch from start to finish.”

“Saviours” is available for download and stream on InfraredMetal.ca, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby and all other major online retailers.
