HELLFIRE 76 New Video “Rags to Rage” Is A Rip Roaring Rock Title Track Off New Album Out End of Nov 2024

North Carolina, USA’s, Southern Metal duo Hellfire 76 has just dropped their rippin’ new video for single “Rags to Rage” the title track from their upcoming first full-length, which hits speakers on November 29th. The song showcases the band’s signature combination of fuzzed-out grooves and occult-themed storytelling, drawing from founding member Von Bury’s New Orleans roots. The band comments on the single:

“Musically, it’s fast and aggressive; lyrically, it’s pretty much an “action/reaction” lyric- each to its own interpretation. Simply put, we wanted a song that kicked down the door right from the start. It’s full of fast grooves with rapid-fire lyrics.”

The two-piece outfit, featuring Von Bury (guitar/bass/organ/vocals) (formerly of the Southern Gothic act LOVESUCKER and the Occult Rock act and Napalm Recording artist BLOODY HAMMERS) and Mike McGuiness (drums) (formerly of the Industrial Metal act FACE THE WORLD), delivers a massive wall of sound that belies their minimal lineup. Recorded in a single take, “Rags to Rage” demonstrates the raw power and precision that has earned Hellfire 76 recognition as one of the heaviest two-piece acts in the local scene.

Looking to branch out further, the act challenges metal and rock fans to indulge with their new music video, which can be seen and heard via its premiere on GhostCultMagazine HERE.​

All killer-no filler, this two-piece brings 110% to their album “Rags To Rage”. The overall theme of this record is dark, taboo, spooky, tongue-in-cheek, fuzzed-out southern metal. Von Bury explains further:

“The album RAGS TO RAGE is a continuation of our first release, in that the subject matter is all thought-provoking. As for a lot of music, we want the lyrics to be literal but also open to the listener’s interpretation. Sticking with the theme and ideas of Voodoo, Witchcraft, The Occult, and other oddities. We want to take the listeners on a dark and ominous journey into a place they don’t normally think about.”

Saudia Arabian noise rock/metal duo Deathnoisefrequency has been relatively silent over the past few years, but for 2020, they have changed all of that by ushering an onslaught of noise on their debut EP “Horrid Dirge”.

The two-track EP is just the beginning of what the band has planned for listeners. “Horrid Dirge” is two chapters of a conceptual story, which the duo plan to release in full by the end of this year. Chapters 3 and 4 are just a sample of the brutal wall of sound that will crush everyone who hears it.

The duo comments:

“We think it will be received very positively! In our opinion, we are bringing something different and new to the table. It is not what you hear every day, it’s a mix of things that every dark music listener would love to hear!”

Saudi Arabia’s Deathnoisefrequency started in 2016, comprised of two members, Ghassan Al Fudail- All (guitars, feedbacks, reverbs, echoes) and Ahmed Mahmoud (vocals and lyrics) who are presently also working together in a band called Grieving Age, one of the premier metal bands in the country. The duo of Deathnoisefrequency has been relatively silent over the past few years in their home country of Saudi Arabia, but 2020 will change all of that with an onslaught of noise ushering in their debut EP “Horrid Dirge”.

Slated for July 17, 2020, this two-track EP is just the beginning of what the band had planned for listeners. “Horrid Dirge” contains two chapters of a conceptual story, which will be released in full by the end of the year. Chapters 3 and 4 are just a sample of the brutal wall of sound that will crush everyone who hears it. The band shares their hopes for the reception of their initial offering:

N E K E R is an Italian solo metal artist that has already conquered several countries across Europe since beginning in 2013 and has now set his attention to the masses across the Atlantic, specifically Eastern Canada. Since forming in Montreal, Canada in late 2007, The Great Sabatini has released four EPs and four full length albums, and logged seemingly endless tour dates around North America and Europe. The music is an aggressive mixture of noise rock, doom, hardcore, and metal wrapped up in a burly sludge aesthetic.

After working together for 11 years, the band has refined their heartfelt noisy sludge to perfection. Their upcoming album “Goodbye Audio” due out November 16th, 2018 is a prime example of the harmony and aptitude that can only come from over a decade of being together; it’s a more robust and evolved sound, but still maintaining the caustic energy they had when they started.

“For me, working on ‘Goodbye Audio’ was like a coping mechanism after losing some people in my life. When that sort of thing happens, and you’re a bit less distracted from your own mortality for a bit, all kinds of shit comes floating up to the surface of your creative well. But that stuff is sort of like window dressing to me at this point… what we all really wanted to do was write and record something that was just real dirty Rock and Roll… we tried to play to our strengths as a band and not get too complicated. Our main focus was to serve the song. Recording 90% of the record live off the floor with Sean Pearson and getting Scott Evans to mix it all was a conscious step in that direction. Rock bands should be able to play their own songs and a good engineer should be able to capture it. I feel like all of those aspects lined up nicely for this record.” says guitarist / vocalist Sean Sabatini.

“Goodbye Audio” will be available on vinyl from No List Records, Ancient Temple Records and No Why Records. Teaming up with Decibel Magazine, the quartet have a new video to share “You’re Gonna Die (Unsatisfied)”.

“You’re Gonna Die (Unsatisfied)” is about dealing with an addiction to one’s own work ethic. You can work at making yourself better at something, but there will never be enough time to reach perfection. This thought came from watching an interview with Japanese tattoo master Horyoshi III. To me, the idea boiled down to the inevitability of death vs. the desire to create things and get better at it. Resigning myself to death and the simple fact that I’ll never achieve the level of craft I strive for during my lifetime can be either freeing or oppressive, depending on what side of the bed I wake up on, I guess. Our friend Garth at Troublelight Pictures shot and edited the video for us. It’s a straight up performance video, but he made us look cool and the video has a dark timbre to it.” says guitarist / vocalist Sean Sabatini.

Their latest single “Still Life With Maggots” was recorded live off the floor and shows the growth the band has made together over the past 11 years.

Following the theme of mortality persistent through the album, “Still Life With Maggots” is about existential dread and the general feeling of anxiety some people experience daily. Taking a more lighter path than in previous years, THE GREAT SABATINI is less focused on complicating their parts and set on being direct along with working together and highlighting each other’s strengths. Not wanting to emulate any bands they do point to some band favourites like Botch, Melvins and Neurosis as inspiration to consider different elements like new time signatures and feels.

Since forming in Montreal, Canada in late 2007, The Great Sabatini has released four EP’s and four full length albums, and logged seemingly endless tour dates around North America and Europe. The music is an aggressive mixture of noise rock, doom, hardcore, and metal wrapped up in a burly sludge aesthetic.

The intrepid Sabatini’s; Sean (guitar/vocals), Joey (bass/vocals), Rob (guitar/vocals), and Steve (drums/vocals) got together with the intention of pursuing their musical dreams with similar goals: slow it down, tune it down, turn it up, keep screaming. With all four of them belting out the lyrics, they play loud, and with conviction.

The raw sound compliments the persistent theme of mortality that the new album centers on, with Sean concocted most of the lyrics for, but with heavy input from his band mates. “Still Life With Maggots” is the first single from the upcoming full length album “Goodbye Audio” from Montreal, Canada’s THE GREAT SABATINI. Writing tunes about space travel, doomed seafarers and a sentient android hellbent for a camel killing death crusade, Nashville’s HOWLING GIANT shared last August part one of their three part “Black Hole Space Wizard” concept record series. A year later, the nerd power trio returns with part two of the adventure set for release on August 25th. Playing self-indulgent, drop-tuned, fuzzed out riffs “Black Hole Space Wizard: Part 2” is again produced by the band, mixed by Kim Wheeler and mastered by Chris Fasco. The EP features six cosmic progressive travels of ‘The Pioneer’ continuing his quest for self-discovery and purpose on the husk planet, Earth.

About:

HOWLING GIANT! The very name summons up mental images of a huge mutated orc-warrior astride an even more gigantic mastodon, ready to bring death, doom, damnation and destruction (and many other things beginning with “d”) down upon its enemies.

Names matter, and something magical happened when three nerds obsessed with all that is fuzzed-out, riffed-out, and heavy came together to compose cosmic odes to space travel, doomed sea-farers, and even an android on a camel-killing crusade (what harm did the poor camel ever do to him?), under the name HOWLING GIANT.

Drummer Zach Wheeler says the name is no accident and reflects the band’s music.

“Howling Giant sounds a lot like a loud beast, which is what we strive to do musically. We aim to create a full sound that people might normally expect from a five-piece rather than a power-trio.”

Indeed, by employing the three-piece format, HOWLING GIANT is following in the footsteps of legends like Motorhead, MC5, Cream, and Corrosion of Conformity; good company to be in! As the band’s philosophy would have it wisely: “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Hailing from Nashville, HOWLING GIANT obviously had some special metal immunity to all the country and western music in the air. The boys started jamming at school in Boston with an aim to move away from overtly serious music and have fun, describing their music accurately as “loud, energetic, heavy, melodic, and cosmic.”

Overall, HOWLING GIANT’s music forms part of a fascinating Black Hole Space Wizard concept EP series, which the trio returns with Part 2 due out on August 25th, 2017 to follow Part 1 released almost exactly a year prior.
