Bravewords Presents Medevil’s “Among Thieves” Off Upcoming “Mirror In The Darkness” Out April 2023

Medevil is a highly energetic, fast-paced metal band known for its tight songwriting, intense stage presence, and roaring vocals. Back in 2016, they released their debut album “Conductor of Storms” and this year they are following it up with “Mirror In The Darkness”, which is dedicated to their late drummer Chris Malcolmson whose drums are recorded on the album. Their first single is “Among Thieves”, a straight-shooting thrashy metal song – with some interesting twists – that bridges the gap sonically between the two albums. Fans of the first album should appreciate this song. A triplet feels with unrelenting riffs, and catchy bass lines, that are brought to life through Liam Collingwood’s vocals and lyrical themes relating to greed, and stealing time (whether your own or someone else’s). The band comments:

“We are extremely excited to put this one out as the first taste of the new album. This song is definitely the thrashiest, which should connect a lot with people who enjoyed “Conductor of Storms”. It has probably the toughest riffs on the album, with all the riffs and layout here written by Gary, and keeps the energy high throughout. We feel like it’ll be a fan favourite live since there are some sections that are easy to chant, and the time changeup keeps it feeling interesting near the end. The lyrics talk about the greed living around us all, from any era, whether is financial greed or stealing someone’s time away from them.”

“Mirror In The Darkness” definitely has its singles that can be pulled out and enjoyed individually, but Medevil suggests that the best way to get the intended listening experience is to play it front to back in a sitting. They spent a lot of time considering the flow of the album, from fast and energetic to dark and brooding, so there is a lot of variety that will come from a fully engaged listen.

Progressive and powerful, Medevil is recommended for fans of Mastodon, Metal Church, and Accept.

Listen to “Among Thieves” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Mirror in the Darkness” comes out on April 7, 2023.

About: Medevil is a highly energetic, fast-paced metal band known for its tight songwriting, intense stage presence, and roaring vocals. They are one of the few metal bands coming out of Chilliwack BC and hold that title proud as they have earned much praise and respect since their inception in 2014. As one of the 6 national finalists of the 2015 Wacken Metal Battle Canada, they are becoming more and more renowned throughout the country; their fame attaining them a following in their local town and across through to Vancouver.

Their music could be described as “power thrash” with half of their set being chorus-driven, and the other half focusing on blistering fast riffs. Influences for the band include Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Metal Church. Their fast but catchy songs keep the crowd chanting throughout the set, and leave them wanting more. Liam Collingwood, the band’s singer, keeps the band image in theme with the songs while on stage and will wear thematic outfits when the mood demands it.

The band was founded on January 13, 2014, by Eric Wesa (bass), as well as brothers Liam (vocals) and Ross Collingwood (drums). It only took two months after the band’s inception before the boys found the ultimate guitar duo they were looking for, Gary Cordsen and Brett Gibbs. Once the lineup was solidified, they wasted no time performing shows and begin their musical journey. As a band, Medevil has two common goals; to explore their musical talents, and continue performing live for their fast-growing fanbase.

“Perfectly situated to please fans of classic heavy metal, Conductor Of Storms is very strong debut from the young Medevil.” – The Monolith (2016)

“Rejoice metalheads! Chiliwackian power thrashers, Medevil, has created a top-notch debut full-length album entitled Conductor Of Storms”. – Bravewords (2016)

“Conductor of Storms is one of the most complete, fully-formed and damn near perfect debut albums I’ve ever heard from a young heavy metal band. Tracks like Escape – a blustering, no-holds-barred mashup of Metal Church, Megadeth and Overkill – are just so mature, so faultlessly executed and so, well, heavy metal, it beggars belief that they are not being delivered by a band that’s been in the game for thirty years.” – Sentinel Daily (2016)

“Riding out of the cold wastes of western Canada on warhorses of steel comes Medevil with their amazing, self-released debut album Conductor of Storms. Bruising Traditional Heavy Metal is what these guys play and they play it well. Monstrous riffs and pounding, organic drums underscore the powerful vocals and intricate solos. The band has a taste for things epic, so no love songs or cliché odes to the Metal lifestyle here.” – Metal Crypt (2016)

Nomad is a progressive death metal band from British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley in Canada who are excited to finally be releasing their debut album “The Mountain” this coming March. “Revolution” is the second single off the album and it is their most dynamic offering, featuring clean vocals and harmonies for the first half with a crushing ass kicking at the end. It’s a call to action, a challenge to take making the world a better place into your own hands. They comment on the track:

“The first half is our “ballad” with clean vocals, and the second half is rocking out to one hell of a sludge/groove riff, start light, go heavy, it’s kind of our “One”. The lyrics call for a revolution, a societal change, redistribution of wealth, symbiosis with nature, and to stop messing up the damn planet so our kids have a decent world to live in. The album title comes from the final line of the song, and the “fuck you” is directed to those that put profits over the preservation of our planet.”

Nomad is still early in their career and has cycled through different singers who have each brought their own style to the table and impacted the music in their own ways. Their new shared vocals setup, where three of the four musicians are vocalists, really lets them combine different styles taking the best of what they’ve had in the past from an old-school raw sound to a more refined modern sound.

The progressive melodic groove/death metal is recommended for fans of Lamb of God, Pantera, and Sepultura.

Listen to “Revolution” via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“The Mountain” is due out on March 3, 2023, and was mixed by drummer Bretton Melanson and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy). It is recommended for fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, and Pantera.

About: Nomad is a dynamic, progressive death metal band from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and consists of drummer/vocalist Bretton Melanson; guitarist/vocalist Matt Johnstone; guitarist/vocalist Jeff Mabb; plus bassist Josh MacDonald. Kickstarted by Johnstone who was looking for an outlet, he approached Melanson and since the material felt right and with their previous history playing together, the ball was rolling. Over a few years, there was a lineup flux, with each additional leaving their mark on the material. Ultimately, they then recruited Mabb as a second guitarist and MacDonald on bass, and working collaboratively, they weave their melodic, groovy death metal.

Looking to avoid the violence and gore tropes that are quite prominent in metal music, they tend to tell stories based on fictional characters, historical events, science fiction, and astrophysics. Each member adds their own flair to the songs, imprinting their distinct influences.

When they hit the stage, the audience is greeted by multiple vocalists that deliver a massive wall of layered sound, integrated sound effects, and a well-thought-out visual element. They played Canada’s prominent Armstrong Metalfest in 2016-2019 and performed alongside bands such as Kataklysm, Origin, Soulfly, and Alestorm. They are releasing their debut album “The Mountain” in 2023.

0 Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Shares First Single “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aaron Harris (Solemn Vision) Off First Full-Length “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Shares First Single “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aaron Harris (Solemn Vision)

New Album “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s one-man prog metal unit DUSK (from the mind of Meshari Sangora) is unveiling the first single “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aaron Harris (Solemn Vision) from the upcoming full-length entitled “Spectrums”. The album follows two previously unleashed EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles that were used to introduce the project’s music to the world in 2020.

The album’s first single talks about someone who suffers from Megalomania and is a message to remind them that they are not a god. DUSK goes into further detail about how the track came to be.

“I got to know Aaron Harris, the vocalist for Solemn Vision from my friend Gigi Arabia of Heavy Arabia. She pitched Aaron to me when we were looking for a vocalist for Lethal Perspective, and as soon as I heard Aaron’s vocals I knew he was a perfect fit for the album. He’s got a raw scream that can really get you hyped! and with what I had in mind for songs on the album, I knew that he be the right fit and he sure did deliver vocally and lyrically 100 percent!”

The single can be heard at https://youtu.be/rcOw6G0VgKE

Digital (Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music) – https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/dusk14/lethal-perspectives-feat-aron-harris

For “Spectrums”, DUSK recruited various many guests such as Saudi musicians Khalid C (Entropia) and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a featured guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with international artists such as Aaron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known as a member of Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai. The album features 12 tracks and is a multi-lingual expression with various songs sung by its contributors in English, German, Finnish, and Arabic.

DUSK comments on the forthcoming album:

“As a musician and one of the pioneers in the local Saudi Scene, I wanted to bring more creativity to the game and make this project an inspiration standpoint to the new upcoming bands and musicians who look up to me both locally and internationally, so right then and there, I decided to make this album into two different themes, something that will speak to every music lover out there, from the heavy and raw guitar tones to the Synth-ish spacy sounds that ease the listener to a very dynamic and emotional ride.”

Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life lead to his rediscovery of all forms of metal and was just the beginning of creating his own music as a self-taught musician and producer. DUSK created the new album to be listened to as Side A and Side B. The first half of the album (Side A) is aggressively sounding, and more guitar-focused and has a build-up of more hostility to each track while the listener moves forward. The second half (Side B) aims for a new sound from DUSK infusing more of the electric/EDM-ish sound where it’s more focused and digitized sounding and widely more appealing to the non-metal listener, all while keeping the same aggression level building up with each track.

“I wanted to bring more to the table and make this album a possible gateway to new audiences and perhaps fans from both sides, the metal heads & the non-metal listeners. I think all people who enjoy music will be interested in it, with all that has been added and all the different genres mixed in. What I’m trying to do with this record is to make everyone experience their own feelings and their own journey, the topics for this project are big and very stretched, some of the topics deal with real issues like betrayal and disposition, Love, Hate, and Hope.” adds DUSK

Recommended for fans of Currents, Born of Osiris, Novelists, and Deftones, along with everything under the vein of progressive metal, metalcore, and djent, “Spectrums” will be released on all digital platforms including vinyl on February 17th, 2023.

The album was fully written & recorded at Dusk’s studio with the mixing and mastering done by Tom Haberland of Crushing Waves Studio. Album artwork created by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Studios.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 27, 2022

Scattered Storm Embark On A Journey With Title Track Off Upcoming “In this Dying Sun”

New EP “In this Dying Sun” Out Nov 11th via Bloodblast Distribution (powered by Nuclear Blast and Believe Digital)

L- R – Jay Arriaga – Drums, Keyboards, Samples, Andre Accosta – Vocals, Kevin Armstrong – Guitar, Brian Fausnaugh – Bass

The progressively dark quartet Scattered Storm hailing from El Paso, Texas, is releasing their second EP “In this Dying Sun” set for November 11th. The EP pivots from its overall sound carving out a much darker, and more progressive tone. Drummer Jay Arriaga and guitarist Kevin Armstrong have been much of the driving force for the songwriting drawing inspiration from bands like Psycroptic and Cephalic Carnage, whom they have also performed live with. The band explains the premise of the single:

“This pretty much talks about our dying planet. Or even a dying galaxy. Which resonates deeply with what we have been doing to our planet for so long and the consequences of that. Death, decay, nothing good coming out of it really. In the absence of light, there is only darkness. The song is fast and precise almost Fear Factoryish-like, but it simulates a fast and imploding galaxy.”

According to the band, they have never lost track of the bigness, especially with Tue Madsen mixing this record. In their talks with him, it was really emphasized that even though songs are faster, they still want them to sound huge. In turn, Madsen delivered a monster of an album, a melodic wall of sound with plenty of intriguing layers to keep listeners on their toes. Madsen also featured “In This Dying Sun” for his drum sample pack through Drum Forge because he really dug the song.

“In This Dying Sun” takes off from where last year’s “Oblivion” left off, bringing in darker melodies and proggy riffs. It still has the hooks but the vocals have evolved more and the synths took a back step for more guitar work. Some of the songs are faster-paced as well giving it a more driving force.

Scattered Storm takes a good blend of the sludge from Meshuggah, the ambiance of Tesseract, and the epicness of Devin Townsend, but is also influenced by bands like Fear Factory and Mnemic.

0 Canada’s Mütherload Are Now Streaming Their Debut EP Ü

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 6, 2021

For fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, Mastodon, Opeth, Tool

Canada’s Mütherload Are Now Streaming Their Debut EP Ü

Mütherload hails from London, ON, Canada and they are pleased to announce their debut EP “Ü”. The majority of the musicians in the band worked together previously in Heaven Ablaze and keep the same professionalism and tightness, albeit with less of a thrashy sound and more of an emphasis on death metal.

Before the EP officially drops on Friday, July 9th, the band has teamed up with NoCleanSinging for its full stream premiere HERE.

Musically, the album starts a little on the dark side. The main reason for that is because the first two songs (“Insect”, and  “The Visitor”) are in a much lower tuning (Open C# Major) and the last couple of tracks (Thaügüst, and Lamia) are in Eb Standard. By the end of the EP, things sound a little brighter and more upbeat, sonically.

According to vocalist Derek Lee, lyrical inspiration comes from life and its atrocities, and things that make him mad; his opinions and the state of society, the state of the government, the state of our mental frailty, his inner demons and the lessons he’s learned in life, both good and bad. He explains the album in further detail:

“The Ü EP is our first step back into the metal scene after years of silence. We feel this small collection of music represents the focus that we’ve developed as a band in our songwriting for the first time in years. Musically we’ve stretched our reach into new territory with open tunings, and more space for vocals. This EP deserves to be played loud, so crank it up!”

For those who enjoyed this initial six-track sampling of Mütherload, there is more in the works! There are complete songs ready to go and the riffs just keep coming. Stay tuned!

A sonic smorgasbord of all things heavy, Mütherload is recommended for fans of In Flames, Mastodon, Lamb of God and Opeth.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 16, 2021

For fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, Mastodon, Opeth, Tool

Mütherload Release New Single “Iniquity” Off Upcoming EP “Ü” Out July 9th

A provocative blend of thrash, groove and death metal, Mütherload from London, Canada has a new single “Iniquity” out supporting the release of their debut EP “Ü”. While this is the first release from the band under this name, four of five members worked together previously in Heaven Ablaze.

They still keep a bit of the thrash riffs they were known for previously, but over the years they’ve put more focus into the groove, songwriting, and feel. Not every song has a guitar solo in it, and not every riff has a lead over it. This shouldn’t dissuade long time fans though, as the band explains:

“So far, the few people who have heard the EP seem to love it, so hopefully we maintain that reaction with everyone else who hears it. We feel we captured our live energy in the studio quite well, and it’s that energy that our fans love the most about us.”

When asked about lyrical themes, the band is sparse on details, instead of encouraging listeners to read the lyrics and decide for themselves how the words fall out and work with the music.

Mütherload works collectively, with the majority of the melodies and riffs being concocted by guitarists Patrick Davison and Derek Haley. After they set the foundation, the rest of the music just flows. Most of Mütherload’s music starts off on the acoustic guitar. Stripping the music down to its most humble form allows them to add what is needed instead of fighting to take away what has been set in stone so to speak. You can always add salt, but you can’t take it out later.

A sonic smorgasbord of all things heavy, Mütherload is recommended for fans of In Flames, Mastodon, Lamb of God and Opeth.

The single “Iniquity” can be heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit‘s YouTube channel – https://youtu.be/mNY_MdMLzgs

The full EP “Ü” is out July 9, 2021.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 11, 2021

For fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, Mastodon, Opeth, Tool

Canada’s Mütherload’s New Music Video “The Visitor” Makes Contact With The Unknown

New EP “Ü” Out July 9th, 2021

Hailing from London, ON, Canada, Mütherload has risen from the ashes of Heaven Ablaze, and has been intriguing metalheads already with their video for “The Visitor”. This single, off the upcoming debut EP “Ü”, has already been released and is viewable on YouTube – https://youtu.be/M_-RLpnxlNQ

As the band puts it, “The Visitor” is one of the darker songs on the record, being in a much lower tuning than the last half of the six-track EP. They explain the track in their own words:

“The Visitor was the first release for us and was also chosen for our first music video. The song was originally written years ago as an acoustic song which is why if you listen carefully, you can hear an acoustic track in the chorus. We feel this song best represents our sound as there is a little bit of everything in there. There’s groove, thrash, melody, dynamics, and flow. It’s definitely one of our favorites to play live as well.”

Mütherload started when guitarist Patrick Davison randomly ran into drummer and former bandmate Matt Ashton, several years after his hiatus from Heaven Ablaze had started. After the first jam, four songs were written and the group took off from there. Having previously worked together in Heaven Ablaze, the chemistry was instantly rekindled and everything just clicked.

The tracks presented on the EP are the ones that best sum up the current sound of Mütherload. There’s no concept approach to it, although a few of the tracks do flow in and out of each other. It’s a real, raw, ‘here’s-who-we-are’ style of recording.

Melodic, and groovy, Mütherload is recommended for fans of Lamb of God, In Flames, and Mastodon.

The full EP “Ü” is out July 9, 2021.

Track Listing:
1. Insect (3:54)
2. The Visitor (3:39)
3. Ü (0:44)
4. Iniquity (3:06)
5. Thaügüst (1:43)
6. Lamia (3:24)
EP Length: 16:32

EP and Live Band Line Up:

Derek Haley – Guitar
Chris McKichan – Bass

0 Cell Press Shares Guitar Playthrough For Noise Jam “My Son Will No The Truth”, EP Out Now! Limited Edition Cassette from Ancient Temple Recordings and No Funeral Records

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 10, 2021

For fans of KEN mode, Unsane, Mastodon, Keelhaul

Cell Press Shares Guitar Playthrough For Noise Jam “My Son Will No The Truth”

EP Out Now! Limited Edition Cassette from Ancient Temple Recordings and No Funeral Records

Lineup (L to R): Sean Arsenian (Guitar, Vox), Joey Cormier (Bass), Mark McGee (Drums), PQ (Vox)

A concoction of noise, sludge, grindcore, and extreme metal, along with anything and everything the band feels like creating, Montreal’s Cell Press (a convergence of talent from well-seasoned musicians (The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, Architect)) unleashed their self-titled debut EP this past November along with limited editions cassettes released by No Funeral Records and Ancient Temple Recordings.

“This EP sorta sums up what we’re about at this particular moment. Genre people might not be satisfied with our lack of adherence to any one sound for too long, but we didn’t make these songs for those sorts of people. This ep is designed as a broad introduction to the band, and new listeners will hopefully anticipate what else is coming down the pipe in the future. It upholds the high standards Cell Press sets for themselves and each song is quite different from the others.” says the band.

Today, Cell Press’ guitarist Sean Arsenian shares his playthrough for the band’s noise track “My Son Will No The Truth”.

Arsenian adds:
“This track is the long noise jam on the debut Cell Press EP. PQ caught the guitar tracking on video so I synced it up with the final master.

At Sean Pearson’s suggestion, we built this piece by only allowing the performer to hear the prior track. In this case, I was improvising guitar noise with only the drums in the cans. Mcgee had laid down the drums only having heard a strange loop that Pearson made. we continued down that line till we’d painted some sort of insane sonic landscape. Sean Pearson later mixed it all into what you have here, and it was one of the most fun experiences in the studio with buddies I’ve had in years.

I played this IO guitar made by my friend Nick Brygadyr. He makes very nice guitars. It has a pearly gates in the bridge position because I heard that’s what the guy from Cherubs uses and it sounds great. I split the signal into two amps, with a couple of pedals going into each, but kept it pretty simple. Volume plus vibration equals noise. Thanks for watching! and this is probably a journey best taken with headphones.”

Watch and listen to the playthrough on YouTube – https://youtu.be/OxLoiNyOa90

Super loud and vigorous, Cell Press is recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Converge, and Botch.

About:

Cell Press are a Montreal-based band that formed in 2019. They play a sort of burly noise-rock that leans more on the hardcore and metal side of the swamp. They took their name from the 2001 Russian prison documentary “The Mark Of Cain”. The brutal humanity of that film is reflected in the music… on the surface, it’s raw and punishing but there are complexities

and nuances revealed once the surface noise has been embraced. Members have played in a myriad of punk, metal, and hardcore bands such as The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, The Chariot, Animal Ethics, Architect, Swarm Of Spheres, and Angles. Their self-titled EP is the first offering of tunes. Recorded pre-quarantine in Hamilton at Boxcar Sound Recording

(Sean Pearson), mixed in Oakland at Anti-sleep studios by Scott Evans with the pandemic in full swing… 2 local shows have been logged but any further plans to gig have been halted by Covid-19.

“From the grooves on “Piss Police” to the odd-timed melodic chords of “Blacked Out in Verdun,” everything moves in unexpected ways. All of this is perfectly set to the backdrop of PQ’s uniquely cackled screams… Cell Press is a great sludge metal EP that reminds the listener of the best aspects of this sub-genre. This EP makes the future appear bright for what is to come from this band. 8/10″ – Exclaim!

“You know that feeling, when you spin a new record for the first time and it just fucking destroys you? Well today I am happy to report, Cell Press outta Montreal have truly delivered the goods with their debut self titled EP.  I mean fuck, is it any wonder this band rules, when they can boast members from the likes of The Great Sabatini, Biipiigwan, I Hate Sally, Architect. With their self-titled release, Cell Press give zero fucks about accessibility, instead they focus on delivering punishing aggression with a melting pot of sludge metal, noise rock, and grindcore.” – The Sludgelord

“Warm fuzzy guitar tones bring a touch of the Sabbath to “Piss Police” with broken chords and momentary pauses giving the kind of sound that Raging Speedhorn look for to accompany the rampant venting screams of the vocals that unapologetically roar along during the montage.” – Metal Noise

“Cell Press’s debut self titled EP is definitely an interesting listen. I didn’t expect it to take me on the journey which it did. An aggressive sound runs throughout showing that this band don’t play by the rules, they’re making music the way they want to.” – The Independent Voice

“Noisy and enjoyable, I give this Cell Press effort high marks. I am a Punk fan from the beginning, and I hear those roots here, certainly in the attitude, even if the category is technically off. The disenfranchisement is very appealing. Recommended.” – Flying Fiddle Sticks

NEWS RELEASE

Cell Press New Music Video “Blacked Out In Verdun”

Video Premiere via IDIOTEQ

EP Out Now! Limited Edition Cassette from Ancient Temple Recordings and No Funeral Records

Lineup (L to R): Sean Arsenian (Guitar, Vox), Joey Cormier (Bass), Mark McGee (Drums), PQ (Vox)

It upholds the high standards Cell Press sets for themselves and each song is quite different from the others.” says the band.

Today, Cell Press shares their latest music video “Blacked Out In Verdun”, a song that can be described as a sort of mish-mash of Helmet and Keelhaul.

Guitarist Sean Arsenian elaborates on how the video came to be:

“My co-worker Morgan Hunt walked into DFA Tattoos for Halloween wearing the llama mask you see in the video. I immediately recruited him to help me with the vague idea I had for it… and then we made him fall down a bunch of times. We paid for his wine, and that was the entire 20$ budget for the video. Morgan found the trash heap to lay down in at the end of the video and did so with zero prompting from us. He’d worked hard that day and deserved a rest.”

Watch the full video via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

Super loud and vigorous, Cell Press is recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Converge, and Botch.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 11, 2020

For fans of KEN mode, Unsane, Mastodon, Keelhaul

Cell Press Drummer Posts Video of Pelting Skins For “Dead At OACI” From Noisy, Sludgy Self-Titled EP

EP Out Now! Limited Edition Cassette from Ancient Temple Recordings and No Funeral Records

Lineup (L to R): Sean Arsenian (Guitar, Vox), Joey Cormier (Bass), Mark McGee (Drums), PQ (Vox)

Cell Press drummer Mark McGee has posted his next video of pelting skins with a playthrough for “Dead At OACI”. The first song Cell Press wrote together, the track comes off the Montreal band’s debut EP released on November 27th. The song itself is organized chaos smashing your throat with angry noise and aggressive sludge. Even though Cell Press has no one metal genre label to them, they are best described as a concoction of grindcore, noise, sludge, extreme metal, along with anything and everything the band feels like creating.

Watch McGee shatter the kit in this latest drum video via his YouTube.

Cell Press‘ eclectic self-titled EP may not be metal enough or noise-rock enough or sludge enough for some, but the band gets bored really fast and the result is serious channel surfing taking advantage of a wide variety of influences. With this record, they have gone all out to wrap their ideas up in a burlap sack, tied with razor wire. As the band says in their own words:

“This EP sorta sums up what we’re about at this particular moment. Genre people might not be satisfied with our lack of adherence to any one sound for too long, but we didn’t make these songs for those sorts of people. This ep is designed as a broad introduction to the band, and new listeners will hopefully anticipate what else is coming down the pipe in the future. It upholds the high standards Cell Press sets for themselves and each song is quite different from the others.”

Super loud and vigorous, Cell Press is a sort of hybridized amalgamation of influences, and most recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Converge, and Botch.

Digital download from Cell Press here.
