Voodu Announce Crushing, Varied Debut Single “Pictures” Off Upcoming Album

Voodu is an American modern metal band from Los Angeles, USA. They got started during the pandemic, and now, with their debut album in the works, they are excited to introduce themselves to fans. The first look at who Voodu is comes through the groove-oriented single “Pictures”. It starts on a thick bassline and builds up from there before exploding into the song’s main riff. It dynamically bounces between quieter verses and explosively loud choruses. No part of the song is identical to another. Every verse, chorus, and the bridge is different in one way or another. The band shares their thoughts on the release:

“Pictures came from a place of confusion and despair. In its composition, the sense of spiraling into disarray and apathy before being consumed with anger and angst came naturally in its progression. We joke that it’s as “prog” as we get, between the verse starting on the 2 of a 4 count and chorus starting on the 4, the meter change from 4/4 to 7/4 in the bridge, and the key change at the end. While the song is far from “prog”, in many ways those elements fit in the song’s composition in a way we didn’t realize made total sense. They catch you off guard the same way the lyrics allude to being confused between what’s real and what’s made up. It is both a cry for help and an apathetic plea of defeat. The push and pull between “help me” and “leave me alone”. It’s begging to be numb or ambivalent to the pain caused by the confusion and doubt of one’s own self or the world around them.”

The forthcoming yet-to-be-titled album is a high-energy group of songs that are meant to walk fans through a vast range of emotions. Even the slightly slower or more emotional songs still have heavily distorted guitars and melodically aggressive vocals. It covers a wide range of subjects from feelings of self-doubt, toxic relationships, people who abuse power, the duality of human nature, and addiction. Voodu hopes that their first offering will resonate with people on a visceral level, in a way they haven’t heard before.

Chick full of a wide assortment of influences, Voodu makes music that will appeal to a wide audience. One of the bands they cite is Linkin Park, who introduced them to this kind of music. It’s the comparison they get most often, due to similarities in voice and the electronic element. Thus far, they have made fans out of the most dedicated of metalheads, as well as the “I don’t usually listen to heavy music” people and everyone in between. They are especially recommended for fans of Rammstein, Linkin Park, and Alice In Chains.

Canada’s Saintvicious Present A Melodic Metal Take On Socially Relevant Issues With “Sticks + Stones”

Saskatoon’s Saintvicious has a topical new single out, “Sticks + Stones”; it’s a modern metal song depicting the growing polarization in Western culture, and how mob mentality has challenged our ability to be critical without the “you’re with us or against us” blowback.” The track was mixed by Josh Wildhorn (Designer Disguise, REANIMATIONS) and mastered by Grammy-nominated Tyler Smyth (I Prevail, Falling In Reverse, Blessthefall).

The new single will be very familiar to previous releases, with the addition of synthesizers for texture and as a lead instrument; allowing the band to push creative boundaries. “Sticks + Stones” is melodic, raunchy, riff-driven rock; it’s a big sounding song that provides an immersive listening experience. The band explains the track in their own words:

“It’s a loud, aggressive, fast-paced look at the frustrations of our current world. A world where being right is the be-all, end-all, and punishing those who don’t agree. It’s about wanting to be the smartest person in the room and the hypocrisy that follows someone who thinks they are never in the wrong.”

In the early days, the intention behind Saintvicious was to play high energy rock n’ roll, like a flashback to 80’s radio rock, but having performed in metalcore and thrash bands before, those elements started coming out. Now, Saintvicious is a summation of their metal influences, but within the boundaries of a standard rock formula.

The Canadian outfit premiered in 2018, comprised of long-time friends who were unsparing in what they love in heavy music. Signing with Rockshots Records for the release of the new album “Circles”, award-winning Italian vocalist/multi-instrumentalist NeroArgento is sharing with fans the new music video for the full length’s first single ‘Inside’.

The single takes a step back to NeroArgento‘s roots, a mixture between industrial and cyber metal, based on very low guitar riffing, heavy drums but also super catchy melodies, featuring typical cyber-electro oriented synths and grooves.

KEYCHAIN Announce North American Tour Dates; Re-birthing Nu-Metal In New Video ‘Prime Time’

Powerful, inspiring, huge and moving, KEYCHAIN is pushing the boundaries of its genres to bring the world something completely breathtaking. Powerful, inspiring, huge and moving, KEYCHAIN is pushing the boundaries of its genres to bring the world something completely breathtaking. Combining the elements of Metal, Alternative Rock and Hip Hop they’re bringing back the uniqueness and authenticity into today’s modern music for a rebirth of the nu-metal genre that has been loved by many and black sheeped by some.

In their first year alone, the independent Montreal, QC band has booked over 50 shows, an upcoming cross country North-American summer/fall tour plus will be releasing 3 music videos and 3 live acoustic videos by 2016’s end. Their upcoming debut EP ‘Breaking Out’ set for release on August 5th is produced by award winning producer/engineer/mixer Glen Robinson who has worked with names such as The Ramones, AC/DC, GWAR, Annihilator and Voivod plus mastered by none other than Howie Weinberg (Pantera, Limp Bizkit, The Deftones, etc).

Teaming up with Idobi Radio, KEYCHAIN reveal their new video ‘Prime Time’, the first banger off the EP.
