New Album ‘The False Sanctuary’ Out Dec 13th As Pay What Ya Want

Canadian metallers All Else Fails are ready to release their new album ‘The False Sanctuary’, coming 2 years after the last critically-acclaimed full length ‘The Forever Lie’. Keeping with their tradition of crushingly heavy and progressive metal they have composed 2 new songs for this album and included 5 B-sides from ‘The Forever Lie’, which were never released digitally.

To accentuate this album they have also released a music video for the first single ‘A Dream of Names’. Technical guitar parts are juxtaposition against melodic vocals in the band’s 10th music video, a moody visual for the thought provoking lyrics that address the current state of the world.

“In a lot of ways this album is at a state of the union address. It’s been 2 years since the release of The Forever Lie, and already the themes of financial corruption, abuse of religious power, and political scandal seem tame. I wrote this one half with a sarcastic smirk, half with an crippling sense that we are well past the point of return.” says Barrett Klesko (vocals, guitar).

Coming out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, All Else Fails (AEF) is making a mark around the world for their aggressively dark brand of modern metal that is breaking the traditional ideals of their genre. Coming off their October “Buried Out Back” Ontario tour, Canadian metal messiahs DECATUR are not ones to stop when it’s all about performing for a crowd. Featuring a live line up with founding vocalist and guitarist Jay Sarrazin joined by members from Imperion, Caym, Threat Signal, Jungle Rot, DECATUR is proud to announce they will hitting the stage once again in their hometown of Toronto for Indie Week, one of the country’s biggest music showcase and conference for independent artists. DECATUR is scheduled to perform on Wednesday, November 7th at the Bovine alongside Kill No Albatross (Burlington, ON), Our Father Star (Toronto, ON), CRNKSHFT (Vancouver, BC) / DRAFT (Toronto, ON), The Ocean Cure (Toronto, ON), Bad Communicators (Edmonton, AB). “Worst Enemy was actually the first song I wrote for this album. I was at a pretty dark place in my life at the time. I was struggling with depression and anxiety and was constantly berating myself with negativity. I felt trapped in a box so to speak and I became my own worst enemy. That’s what the song is about and the music video we made emphasizes that emotion of being trapped in that box or in your own head saying all these things to yourself. Throughout the years I have learned to find more coping methods and I am always learning more about myself. Hopefully this song helps other knows they are not alone and to seek help if they need it.”

Named after their very own Street of Dreams in New York, where they recorded their debut album at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn, DECATUR get their unique sound by being opened-minded, not just to each other in this band of brothers, but to different genres, not just of metal, but also the blues, rock ‘n’ roll and even pop! Decatur’s criteria if it’s good they can make it better! They focus on evolution not devolution. There is no fear of DECATUR repeating themselves musically; for them…the world is not enough. They see themselves as intrepid explorers, never playing it safe, always looking for new lands to conquer, and in the process drawing on creative powers they never knew they possessed.

“We put a lot of effort into writing real songs and putting out a real album that hopefully touches a broad fan base. Our goal was to make sure that not only every single song had been thoroughly thought through, but that it was given all the attention and passion that we truly felt they deserved. We honestly feel like metal has lost its way a bit and we were set on writing something original and not following the trends of today such as low tunings, aggressive growling and perfectly lined up music and sound. We focused on the realness of ourselves and wanted to produce something that wasn’t always perfect and was as real and as honest as we could be. We did not need or want to hide behind production. We wanted our raw talent to be caught and portrayed to everyone. Our goal was to produce something from the soul, not from the computer.” Says Sarrazin.

Toronto-based metal messiahs DECATUR will be unleashing their debut album “Badder Than Brooklyn” produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira on October 6th, 2017. In preview to its release, the band have teamed up with MetalUnderground.com for the premiere of its full stream. The debut is all-killer, no filler! It doesn’t hide behind its production; it compliments it. These are truly songs of power and empowerment, a clarion call for strength in life’s battles…healing through headbanging. From the power shredding of “Into The Night” and the storytelling of the album’s title track “Badder Than Brooklyn” to the brutal beat down of songs like “Bottled Inside” and “Internal War”, DECATUR feel modern metal has lost its way and they’re here to provide the roadmap forward to the future!

“Working on this record was a dream come true for us. We were honoured to be able to work with Joe Duplantier. His vision and knowledge of music is so vast that he opened up so many gates for us. There are so many musicians in the world, but very few true artists and Joe is definitely one of the artists. Getting the chance to work side by side with him was an amazing experience for us. This album turned out better than we hoped. We put a lot of time and effort into the final product. We really scrutinized every piece of it. Our goal was to bring metal back to its hay day. To write a great album and not just a great single. We definitely created something original with this album. Something that’s not happening in metal at the moment. It’s for real fans of real metal. We couldn’t be more excited to take this across Canada to kick off the tour. You should expect us to come for the kill live. Toronto-based metal messiahs DECATUR will be unleashing their debut album “Badder Than Brooklyn” produced by Joe Duplantier of Gojira on October 6th, 2017. Named after their very own street of dreams in New York, where they recorded their debut album at Silvercord Studios in Brooklyn, DECATUR get their unique sound by being opened-minded, not just to each other in this band of brothers, but to different genres, not just of metal, but also the blues, rock ‘n’ roll and even pop. DECATUR’s criteria if it’s good, they can make it better! They focus on evolution not devolution. There is no fear of DECATUR repeating themselves musically; for them…the world is not enough. They see themselves as intrepid explorers, never playing it safe, always looking for new lands to conquer, and in the process drawing on creative powers they never knew they possessed.

Their debut album is all-killer, no filler! It doesn’t hide behind its production; it compliments it. These are truly songs of power and empowerment, a clarion call for strength in life’s battles…healing through headbanging. From the power shredding of “Into The Night” and the storytelling of the album’s title track “Badder Than Brooklyn” to the brutal beat down of songs like “Bottled Inside” and “Internal War”, DECATUR feel modern metal has lost its way and they’re here to provide the roadmap forward to the future!

Vocalist and guitarist Jay “Beard” Sarrazin explains:

“This song represents the internal struggle that you go through to conquer mental illness. It’s an issue I have struggled with for my whole life. But I have struggled with it internally. Only recently has it become a discussion in the public eye. The more you talk about it, the more people you realize struggle with it and struggle with it alone. So this song represents that internal battle you go through daily. It’s a lonely war and that may be the hardest part about mental illness. But we are not alone. This song is to shed light on the fact that there are others that struggle.”

“This song has deep meaning for us. As a band that constantly tours and pushes to not only play live, but play in as many cities as possible, this song is almost an anthem for us. The song kicks off with lyrics that say ‘riding through the darkness, back into the night again. 3am in winter, lights become your only friend.’ These lyrics are a depiction of everyday on the road for us, playing cities and then driving through the middle of the night to get to the next city. The song also has a powerful message of not giving up on our dreams or ourselves. Because we feel most comfortable in our lives while on the road and playing every day, it’s a therapeutic experience for us.”

ALL ELSE FAILS Nominated For Edmonton Music Award ‘Metal Recording of The Year’

     ALL ELSE FAILS have been nominated for an Edmonton Music Award for ‘Metal Recording of The Year’ for their latest EP’s title track ‘The Forever Lie’. The EP was released in February and continues the Edmonton band’s aggressively dark brand of metal that breaks the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like Killswitch Engage, In Flames and Of Mice & Men, the band infuses their music with a variety of elements that includes experimental, classical, synth lines plus spoken word sampling to accent a unique blend of heavy as hell screams and shiver inducing clean vocals. The band also toured India in January where they performed at the Unmaad Fest and the Alcheringa Fest (tour diary on Decibel Magazine here) plus filmed their latest music video ‘The Forever Lie’, which can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JExOKfQc7IE.
