Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, metallers Juliet Ruin are sharing their next single and second off their forthcoming EP “Dark Water” scheduled for release in 2021.

Entitled “Cosmic Vertigo”, the track is an inspiring and fun continuation of the band diving into heavier, djenty melodic metal. With low tuned guitars and vocals that will certainly shock old fans and draw in new ones as frontwoman Jess’ work in the screaming department is apparent throughout. This EP does not have any backing vocalists as its predecessor due to the massive improvements Jess made in her harsh vocal techniques.

Following the band’s 2019 album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos”, Juliet Ruin‘s new EP will offer up a harder-edge, but catchy experience with lyrics that fans can shout in anger, but also lean on with its positive message as a whole.

The band adds:

“This EP was born of the desire among the members to create a recording with what we consider the true lineup after having a member miss out on the OSLAC album. We were originally planning to just do one single but creativity got the best of us and became a four-song EP as the ideas were just unceasing. This is the freshest possible material from our minds with all songs written within 2020.”

Juliet Ruin is recommended for anyone who enjoys heavy and melodic metal with powerful vocals, especially those who already have The Agonist, Jinjer, and Killswitch Engage in rotation.

“Cosmic Vertigo” can be heard via SpaceUntravel’s YouTube channel HERE.

About:
Juliet Ruin was formed in 2015 from the ashes of previous project Fiction of Fate with the desire to fuse metal sound with clean technical vocal stylings in a way that is both beautiful and beastly.

Clean and spirited, Juliet Ruin is comprised of Jess Ruin (lead vocals), Kent Geislinger – (guitar/backing vocals), Wesley Rands (guitar), Cody Reid (bass/backing vocals) and Jesse Bauman (drums); creating an original sound chock full of catchy hooks that convey a fresh and emotive feel to their heavy music.

Juliet Ruin took the obligatory first step with their debut self titled EP in 2017 and quickly made their way through the local scene, captivating audiences with high energy interactions that evoke emotion, vulnerability and power over various local gigs and appearing at several festivals over their flourishing career.

The next exciting step for Juliet Ruin was the release of their first full-length album ‘Old Stardust, Love and Chaos’ in 2019 that showcased more technical and heavy instrumentation, including some dabbling in low tuned 7 string guitars. The lead vocals also on that release increased in volume of screams and clean techniques with complimented pop-esque power vocals.

Fast-forwarding to 2020, the age of Covid, things have been tough, no touring, no fans to perform in front of, but not seeing it as a lost cause, Juliet Ruin came together to do what they do best, uniting their love for the music and writing new bangers for current fans and new ones to come. Juliet Ruin is very excited to be kicking off 2021 with a new EP “Dark Water” with the first single off the record and title track to be released during November 2020.

“Pre-album single “Spite” that features a Sprite logo is also reminiscent of “Cloud Factory” era Jinjer with an excellent vocal range on show. Blending riffs seamlessly with gravity defying leaps between sub-genres from classic Metal to Hard Rock to Metalcore, it’s a nice twist on the conventional approach.” – Metal Noise

“If you are into Halestorm, Jinjer, Killswitch Engage you are gonna fall in love with this group not just a bit. But madly and deeply! Grab a hold of this gem of a release on the 6th of September you aint gonna regret it , cos Juliet Ruin aint gonna “Ruin” ya day they are gonna make it !! ” – The Metal Gods Meltdown

“From hardrock, to metalcore and everythign in between, Juliet Ruin delivers a fun and interesting record with many sounds, attitudes and emotions.” – Heavy New York

This past November, Edmonton, Canada’s Juliet Ruin excited fans with their new single “Dark Water”. Their first of many new sounds to come since releasing their highly praised 2019 album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos”.

The hot new track features a guest guitar solo from their good friend Diego Fernandez (Eye of Horus) and is the preview to their next EP of the same title that will arrive in 2021. The upcoming EP represents a step into a heavier domain continuing on with the low-tuned guitars along with taking a slightly different direction from originally three vocalists to one with frontwoman Jess Ruin fully taking over vocals.

In continuation of promoting the single, Juliet Ruin drummer Jesse Bauman is showcasing his behind the scenes playing on the track with a playthrough video, which can be viewed via its premiere on Sonic Perspectives HERE.

Bauman adds:

“For our new single Dark Water, we had discussed showcasing a significantly harder side we haven’t explored yet. With that in mind, I had a vision for the drums the second that I heard that opening guitar riff. Heavy, hard hitting and driving. Dark Water didn’t require 300bpm blast beats or mind bending polyrhythms, the song screamed simplicity with flair. From the funky hit hats, to the heavy double kick, I feel like the drums in Dark Water are a perfect blend of KISS (keep it simple, stupid) and Djent. “

Juliet Ruin is recommended for anyone who enjoys heavy and melodic metal with powerful vocals, especially those who already have The Agonist, Jinjer, and Killswitch Engage in rotation.

“Dark Water” is available on Spotify, Apple Music.

Lyric Video can be viewed here.

Hailing from Edmonton, Canada, metallers Juliet Ruin are announcing a new single “Dark Water” scheduled for release on November 27th.

This hot new track featuring a guest guitar solo from their good friend Diego Fernandez (Eye of Horus) is the first look at their next EP of the same title that will arrive in 2021. It’s also the first release from the band since the 2019 album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos”. According to the band, this upcoming EP represents a step into a heavier domain continuing on with the low-tuned guitars.

“‘Dark Water’ is the debut single and title track off Juliet Ruin’s newest EP. Showcasing the band’s slightly different direction making the move from three vocalists to one with Jess fully taking over vocals. ‘Dark Water’ is upbeat, haunting, hopeful, and uplifting, setting the tone for what else the band has in store.”

Juliet Ruin has created a listening experience that is definitively hard-edged, but catchy with lyrics you can shout in anger and also it leans positive on message. Overall, the band’s sound has evolved into heavier territory yet again. Completely switching to the lower tuned guitars, this EP does not have any backing vocalists on it as the previous efforts have, thanks to the massive improvements Jess Ruin has made in her harsh vocal techniques.

Juliet Ruin is recommended for anyone who enjoys heavy and melodic metal with powerful vocals, especially those who already have The Agonist, Jinjer, and Killswitch Engage in rotation.

Screams of Syrens announce their new single “Mr. Nobody” coming out in video form this October. The heavy, theatrical rollercoaster of death has been evolving over the years into something the band is very proud of, they expect their fans to be shocked and surprised with what they have been working on. Aiming to bring listeners out of reality and into a story, this is not the band that writes about relationships and current events. This is an intense movie-like experience through music with a horror theme, playing to the interest of the musicians that are pervasive in all their new singles. The band comments on the track:

“With Mr. Nobody, we decided to really dive into the insanity that goes on inside a killer’s mind. This song is structured to feel chaotic and relentless, while still keeping the theatrical element of our songwriting intact. We also wanted to bring back some of our heavy roots, which we feel a lot of our fans will love!”

The cohesiveness of a band that has been playing together for ten years really shines through in Scream of Syrens‘ music and “Mr. Nobody” is no exception. The video for the track is just as cinematic as the music behind it.

In the five years since their conception, Screams of Syrens has released an EP, a full length, a handful of singles, and performed at festivals across the American west coast. The band alludes to more music in the works, so keep your ears to the ground for more graphic tales and riveting storytelling.

Screams of Syrens is perfect for those who enjoy ripping metalcore with a dash of theatrics especially fans of Ice Nine Kills, Tesseract, and Animals as Leaders.

“Mr. Nobody” is available on all digital platforms iTunes, Spotify, etc. along with the music video’s premiere on NewFuryMedia HERE.

About:
Screams of Syrens hail from the Inland Empire. Known for their theatrical music, SOS doesn’t let genres limit them by fusing melodic metalcore, prog metal, and movie scores all into monstrous sound. SOS was started by frontman Trevor Laake and Guitarist Alex Llanos back in 2013. Shortly thereafter, they were joined by guitarist Donald Bolden. The boys cut a 5 song EP entitled Chapter 1: Caravel in 2015 and hit many stages around So Cal opening for huge acts such as The Word Alive, Vanna, Attila, Oceans Ate Alaska, As Blood Runs Black, Palisades, Secrets, The Color Morale, and Slaves.

After a successful 2015, bassist Julio Robles joined in March of 2016 and drummer Christian Paz late 2016. Late 2019 saw a lineup change with Julio Robles leaving the band and Issac Waters coming in on bass.

Edmonton, AB’s JULIET RUIN recently released their first full-length album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” on September 6, 2019 to follow their 2017 debut self titled EP. The release promises to be more technical with heavy instrumentation, including some dabbling in low tuned 7 string guitars to create an original sound chock full of catchy hooks that convey a fresh and emotive feel to their heavy music. Lead vocalist Jess Ruin has added more screams, but also more clean techniques with her pop-esque power vocals. Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.

Teaming up with GhostCultMag.com, JULIET RUIN is excited to premiere their latest lyric video for the track ‘Fight To Win’ at the following link HERE.

The band adds:

“‘Fight to Win’ is probably one of the more unique tracks on the album. It begins softly and quickly changes pace, flowing into our most experimental vocals in the verses. FTW is a wordy and exciting track with an array of vocal styles. The verses of this one are special vocally because of creative on-the-spot thinking in the studio by Diego Fernandez. The last-minute change to make the verses more spoken the entire mood of the song different. FTW is an ode to owning up to a vengeful nature just to flaunt it proudly as a warning sign.”

Digital stream and download of JULIET RUIN‘s debut album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon.

Music Video ‘Spite’ here.

Since starting on their musical journey in 2015 from the ashes of a previous endeavour, JULIET RUIN has been working tirelessly to make a name for themselves in the Canadian music scene. Making their way across local stages and appearing at several Western Canadian festivals, JULIET RUIN will be unleashing their first full-length album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” on September 6, 2019 to follow their 2017 debut self titled EP.

Earlier this summer, the Edmonton based band released their first single ‘Seasons‘, a song about the goddess of spring and hell in Greek mythology along with being a nod to badass women everywhere.

Now they are ready to drop their second banger ‘Spite’ with an exciting video that gives a dose of harsh truth via an exclusive premiere on PureGrainAudio.com here.

The band adds:

“‘Spite’ is one of the heaviest on the album, being the very first song where Jess screams entire verses. This song is an honest look at what it is like to regain perspective after dealing with a narcissistic force in one’s life. Spite’s courses are surprisingly upbeat in theme and sound, especially in contrast to the angry verses. It starts intense and continues to intensify throughout.”

Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.

The ten-track album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” showcases a brand that is all their own. They describe their new album as staying true to their roots while continuing to tinker with their sound:

“’Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos’ stays true to a lot of our root qualities in terms of catchy hooks and overall groove, but fans can expect a lot of new and even somewhat experimental things on the album as well. Lyrically speaking this album delves into a little bit deeper subject matter than the EP, focusing a lot of personal introspection and mental health, as well as general societal concerns from differing degrees of headspace; from optimism to apathy.”

“Juliet Ruin’s sound is comparable to a muddier version of Alexisonfire, with Fleming guiding the songs with her powerful voice while being backed up by Geislinger’s harsh screams and growls…. Juliet Ruin has been gaining more recognition after every concert with its single “Rogue Down” receiving a nomination at the Edmonton Music Awards.” – Vue Weekly (2017)

“Search no further than the Juliet Ruin playbook, it’ll teach you a thing or two. Their hard work and dedication are clearly paying off, and I predict that it won’t be too long until they become a commercial success. Yes, I’m willing to wager on it.” – Ravenkin Photography (2018)

Montreal, QC – July 25, 2019

For fans of Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Alexisonfire, Architects, Trivium

MetalInsider Premiere ALL ELSE FAILS’ New Music Video ‘Thrice Broken’

New Album ‘The False Sanctuary’ Available As Pay What You Want

Edmonton’s ALL ELSE FAILS have just announced a new video for the single ‘Thrice Broken’ of their 2018 release “The False Sanctuary”.

The video was recorded in 2018, internationally with vocalist/guitarist Barrett Klesko in Joshua Tree, USA and guitarist Mike Sands in Örebro, Sweden. Klesko has the following to say about the single, which is slower than what is typically expected from AEF:

“It’s analogous to where the band was in regards to our lineup over the past couple of years, all of us growing further apart due to new interests, but still having passion for the project. This is the last piece of music that Mike and I collaborated on, and I’m super proud of it. It’s totally a different approach for us (a ballad style remake of a previous song), and an awesome way to close off this chapter of AEF as we dive into the new one.”

ALL ELSE FAILS is suitable for all modern metal fans, especially those with an interest in Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Alexisonfire, and Architects.

Watch ‘Thrice Broken’ via MetalInsider.net here.

Keeping with their tradition of crushingly heavy and progressive metal, ALL ELSE FAILS‘ latest album “The False Sanctuary” features 2 new songs along with 5 B-sides that were never released digitally from their critically-acclaimed 2016 full length ‘The Forever Lie’.

Vocalist/guitarist Barrett Klesko adds about their latest release “A False Sanctuary”:

“In a lot of ways this album is at a state of the union address. It’s been 2 years since the release of The Forever Lie, and already the themes of financial corruption, abuse of religious power, and political scandal seem tame. I wrote this one half with a sarcastic smirk, half with a crippling sense that we are well past the point of return.”

‘The False Sanctuary’ is available on Bandcamp (pay what you want for a limited time), along with stream and download on Spotify, iTunes, and all major online retailers.

BIO:

Coming out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, All Else Fails (AEF) is making a mark around the world for their aggressively dark brand of modern metal that is breaking the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like Killswitch Engage, In Flames, and Of Mice and Men, the band infuses their metalcore sound with a variety of elements including experimental riffs, classical melodies, sporadic synth lines, and spoken word sampling to accent a unique vocal blend ranging from heavy gutturals to spine-tingling cleans.

Since first getting together in 2006 they have focused on producing a high energy live show that not only sets them apart from their peers, but has garnered them appearances on numerous festivals over the years, including the Unmaad and Alcheringa Fests In India, Vans Warped Tour, Boonstock along with opening spots for artists like Protest the Hero, Cancer Bats, Dayglo Abortions, 3 Inches of Blood, Fear Factory, Threat Signal, Decapitated, Suffocation, Trivium and Arise & Ruin.

Over their highly acclaimed career, they have released 3 EPs, 3 full-lengths, and a live DVD. AEF is only gaining momentum and they are ecstatic to be adding to this impressive discography in 2019 with the full length ‘The False Sanctuary’.

Since starting on their musical journey in 2015 from the ashes of a previous endeavour, JULIET RUIN has been working tirelessly to make a name for themselves in the Canadian music scene. Making their way across local stages and appearing at several Western Canadian festivals, JULIET RUIN are now finishing up their first full-length album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos”. To introduce this work of art they are releasing the first single ‘Seasons’.

Since releasing their self titled EP in 2017, JULIET RUIN has been working hard to further cement their sound and create a brand that is all their own.

Lyrically speaking this album delves into a little bit deeper subject matter than the EP, focusing a lot on personal introspection and mental health, as well as general societal concerns from differing degrees of headspace; from optimism to apathy.”

The single is about the goddess of spring and hell in Greek mythology and serves as a nod to badass women everywhere. The music coming is laced with fury, reflection, and tears. JULIET RUIN expands of the meaning behind the single:

“Our first single off the album, ‘Seasons’, is a mainly clean-vocals, poetic retelling of Persephone and Hades in Greek mythology. ‘Seasons’ has an emotional vibe to it and celebrates the balance of powers within the spectrum of femininity, as well as the metaphorical ties between seasons and nature the mother.”

Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.

The ten-track album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” will be available on September 6, 2019.
