Montreal, QC – August 20, 2025

A Metal Odyssey of Self and Survival – NIGHT’S EDGE Unveils New Video “Shapes in Grey Space II: Soaring” Ahead of New Album “The World That Never Was” Out Aug 21st

With their fourth full-length album, “The World That Never Was,” set to drop on August 21st, 2025, Baltimore-based trio NIGHT’S EDGE is unveiling one last visual offering ahead of release day. In collaboration with Ghost Cult Magazine, the band premieres the music video for “Shapes in Grey Space II: Soaring”, the second installment in a three-part suite that closes the album. The two-and-a-half-minute ballad of symphonic alternative metal track unfolds a Twilight Zone-inspired narrative, exploring themes of isolation and the transformative journey of self-discovery it can spark.

“Soaring is a hardcore banger in ¾, as fancy as it is intense. The sudden pauses and shifts in direction of the music catch you off guard, while the vocals make you feel like you are ascending into the chorus, with mixed feelings of freedom while remaining tethered to reality. The words reflect our inner turmoil of free will versus the outside forces that control us. When writing Soaring, Damian constantly referred to the movie “Chronicle,” a found-footage thriller about teenagers who get superpowers. Not sure how that connects, that is for you to figure out!” adds Brian Haran – Vocals, Bass, Keys, Programming.

Watch and listen to “Shapes in Grey Space II: Soaring” via Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

Since forming in 2018, Night’s Edge has undergone several lineup shifts and sonic evolutions, making notable strides since their 2019 debut. Rooted in the Alternative Metal realm yet defying easy classification, their sound blends gothic metal, progressive rock, and nu-metal influences into a heady mix of heaviness and pop sensibility, wrapped in layers of synths and theatrical flair. Their upcoming album, “The World That Never Was,” delves into themes of lost identity and the voids we fall into—obsession, rage, and uncertainty. In its closing arc, the album tells a parable: the protagonist wakes in a world where humanity has vanished and is forced to confront their reflection in the silence… or so it appears.

“We are immensely proud of this album. The World That Never Was has the strongest songwriting that Night’s Edge has ever brought forward, and these powerful songs elevate the three of us as musicians and as a band. It has presented challenges to all of us, as Performers and as writers, and has resulted in a genuine expression of music that is uniquely us. The album flows dramatically from piece to piece, with each song offering something different and contributing a different part from which the whole is built. No two songs sound the same, but every second of the album is unmistakably Night’s Edge. The recording and production process challenged all of us but allowed us to become even more intimate with each song. The lyrical themes that wrap through the album have become hooks in each of our brains, and we feel like each of us left a part of ourselves in this record. The World That Never Was is dense but digestible, complex but immediate, grim but beautiful. It is an album of contrasts, an album of ambition, and Night’s Edge’s most definitive musical statement,” says Haran

“The World That Never Was” follows releases Strangers – LP (2023), Night’s Edge – EP (2022), The Darkest Side of Dreams – LP (2020), and Shades of Dusk – LP (2019) and is recommended for fans of Coheed and Cambria, Avantasia, System of a Down, HIM, and Deftones.

““Smite” offers a taste of the band’s ever-evolving sound, merging gothic, progressive, and nu metal influences.” – Metal Insider

“You’re going for a ride today with the premiere of the music video for “Love Fiction,” the latest single from Night’s Edge. A cool visual accompaniment, the premise of the video, a sped-up night drive of the city and the freeway, complements the song’s intensity well. The single is from the band’s latest record, The World That Never Was. Featuring eleven new tracks, the album is set to be released on August 21st. “Love Fiction” is an introduction to this era of Night’s Edge, their third full-length since first emerging in 2018. The song is a profound reflection on depression and mental health. It romanticizes depression, likening it to a partner who is always there for someone as if the condition itself has become a security blanket.” – V13

“Night’s Edge is a dynamic three-piece pushing the boundaries of alternative metal with a sound that straddles gothic melodrama, modern heaviness, and synth-drenched theatrics…. a collection of tracks that fuse headbanging weight with danceable grooves, rich atmospherics, and introspective lyricism. With influences ranging from HIM, System of a Down, Deftones, to Coheed and Cambria, Night’s Edge has carved a uniquely immersive and cinematic sound that evokes both the personal and the fantastical.” – Crannk

“The best part was how they fused a heavy sense of emotion in the music. You can hear it, and feel it, and they don’t hold back.” – Metal Temple

0 Toronto’s TRICK CASKET’s Industrial Metal Single “Filth” Is A Brutal And Beautiful Banger

  • September 26, 2023

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 26, 2023

Toronto’s TRICK CASKET’s Industrial Metal Single “Filth” Is A Brutal And Beautiful Banger

L-R: Evan Holly (Guitar), Connor Lex Grant (Vocals, synths), Joey (Drums)

Formed in 2017 by vocalist Connor Grant, Trick Casket found its birth in the depths of Toronto’s industrial-metal scene during an arduous journey of emotional turmoil and darkness. A thunderous storm of industrial metal, Trick Casket’s sound channels the spirit of legendary acts like Ministry and 3Teeth while paying homage to their key influences, including Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Korn, and Suicide Commando. With this formidable musical arsenal, they have carved a unique niche in the genre. Their latest single, the anger-fueled “Filth” marks a new chapter for the band, as they explain:

“The song is about a betrayal. Seeing just who someone truly is underneath. But am I talking about someone who did me wrong? Or is it all self-reflection realising you aren’t who you thought you were? You choose. At the heart of Trick Casket’s music lies a compelling narrative, delving into the struggles of depression, anxiety, anger, and frustration. Their lyrics serve as a cathartic release, resonating with listeners who find solace and strength in their powerful melodies.”

When it comes to the single cover Grant says that it was born from his love of juxtaposition and abstract images that can tell any story you want. Musically, “Filth” is this brutal, slamming industrial metal banger, but the artwork is a woman’s hand clasping vines. He loved the unsettling beauty in that and how we all have to get our hands dirty, and the things we hold close that we think are beautiful might just be dead vines in the end.

The idea for Trick Casket came from a cocktail of everything Grant loves: heavy music, horror, and theatre. He wanted to fully become who he felt like he was on the inside and at the same time, create a release for others. Trick Casket wants people to party, enjoy themselves, forget whatever stress and pain they’re pushing through, and just let their souls go. They are recommended for fans of Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, and 3TEETH.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 10, 2022

Have You “Seen” SCATTERED STORM’s New Music Video… A Homage For Their Love of Star Wars

New EP “In this Dying Sun” Out Nov 11th via Bloodblast Distribution (powered by Nuclear Blast and Believe Digital)

L- R – Jay Arriaga – Drums, Keyboards, Samples, Andre Accosta – Vocals, Kevin Armstrong – Guitar, Brian Fausnaugh – Bass

El Paso, TX’s Scattered Storm etched their way into the metal scene last year with their debut “Oblivion” and now they have returned with a darker, more proggy offering with “In This Dying Sun” due out on November 11th via Blood Blast Distribution (powered by Nuclear Blast and Believe Digital). Showing a certain evolution from the previous effort, they still implement a lot of their core elements which are ambiance, groove, and melodies, but with this new record, they felt the need to explore faster tempos with machine gun-like riffs. They explain the EP further:

“We never lost track of the bigness, especially with Tue Madsen mixing and mastering this record. In our talks, we really emphasized that to him, even though songs are faster, we still want them to sound huge. And boy did he deliver. Sonically this record has been the best one. Madsen was even kind enough to feature the title track for his drum sample pack through Drum Forge because he really dug the song.”

Part of their evolution can be attributed to bringing in their new bass player Brian Fausnaugh full fold. He had recorded previously with them on some songs, so it was a no-brainer. Lyrically, they still draw from books, movies, series, and whatever piques their interests. This EP is intended to be a journey, discussing evolution, putting yourself back together, and the teachings of Yoda.

Today, in celebration of the release of “In this Dying Sun“, Scattered Storm is sharing their new music video for the EP’s closer “Seen”, a musical and lyrical homage to Star Wars.

“This was a very complex song to write vocals to. Because it has many changes. Many ups and downs. Overall it is a very dark song. Its slow riffs and rhythms make it feel like you are in Darth Vader’s home. We used a lot of Star Wars references in this song. Yoda’s teachings. The evolution of being good but then going to a dark place. Fear is the path we yell. As Fear leads to anger, anger leads to pain, and pain leads to suffering. All indications that you are pretty much heading to a dark place.” adds drummer Jay Arriaga.

The video can be seen and heard via its’ premiere on Metal Insider HERE.

Heavy and futuristic, Scattered Storm is recommended for a wide variety of metalheads as they encompass s good blend of the sludge from Meshuggah, the ambiance of Tesseract, and the epicness of Devin Townsend, and are influenced by bands like Fear Factory and Mnemic

“In this Dying Sun” comes out on November 11, 2022, via Blood Blast Distribution (powered by Nuclear Blast and Believe Digital) and is available at the following link – https://bfan.link/in-this-dying-sun

About:
Scattered Storm is an El Paso, Texas-based metal band which formed three years ago with the collaboration between Jay Arriaga (drums) from No Life on Earth, Years of Cold, and Kevin Armstrong (guitar) from Mondoshawan, Section 6. From there Andre Acosta from Pissing Razors, Hereafter the Wave and current No Life on Earth frontman joined the ranks on vocals. Having recorded a couple of songs on Bass for both Oblivion and In This Dying Sun, Brian Fausnaugh (Random Allusion, Limerance) finally joined the ranks full time replacing Eddie Garcia on bass. Scattered Storm recorded In This Dying Sun in 2021 at Javier’s Studio Empty Paradise Studios for its release on November 11th, 2022 via Blood Blast Distribution to follow their 2021 debut EP “Oblivion”.

– 30 –

“Scattered Storm’s second offering delivers an eclectic mix blending various elements of Heavy Metal and Prog. Andre Accosta delivers a very good vocal performance with a multitude of ranges and dynamics to fit the mood of each song. Kevin Armstrong’s guitar style builds a foundation that is well-balanced with the bass and drums. The band is tight with the tempo changes and does a very nice job with the keys, adding an atmospheric and dark ambiance feeling to the songs.” – Metal Express Radio

“There is little doubt that these new cuts are darker and more personal than the first record while there is also a little more bark and bite as if the shackles are off this time around. “Hollow” offers beauty in clean vocals and twisted melodies while Kevin Armstrong’s riffs keep up the energy levels but it’s the stuccato riff breaks of title track “In This Dying Sun” that ignite the fires. Punching like Prong with its tight rhythms, the clean vocals cut against the grain offering a decent balance between melodic and heavy with Accosta having some moments eerily reminiscent of the much missed Matt Holt of Nothingface. That continues into “Seen” before the spine juddering riffs and unclean roar take hold like a designer drug fueled rage in bombastic style. Where Scattered Storm go from here is going to be intriguing given the waves of turbulence and eccletic violence found here” – Metal Noise

“Their music is dark and futuristic with plenty of ambience to balance the heavy.” – New Noise Magazine (2021 – Oblivion)

“Chugging guitars, punishing drums, brutal, throat throttling vocals… Yep, it’s all here and a lot more with the latest music video for “Necronomicon” from Scattered Storm. Reminding you of what live music used to be all about, the band torches the room in this electric performance video, as an eager audience beholds the musical greatness that is this Texas supergroup.” – V13 (2021 – Oblivion)

“Their sound has been compared to the likes of Fear Factory, Gojira, Messuggah & TesseracT, & their new single, ‘Kingslayer” definitely would fit in the realm of HEAVINESS.” – KLAQ 95.5 FM (El Paso, TX) (2021 – Oblivion)

The Design Abstract melds together narrative sci-fi with Gothenburg-esque melodic death metal, resulting in ambiguous concept albums that sound completely different from other artists in the genre. Their latest album “Metemtechnosis” continues the “Technotheism” (2021) storyline after an indeterminate amount of time in the universe. The band compares this new album to the last, and lets us know what’s coming next:

“Many people had many positive things to say about “Technotheism” upon its release, and we feel that “Metemtechnosis” is a worthy successor to it. Compositionally, we have refined many elements and parts of the processes, and from a technical standpoint, we have really stepped up a lot. Those who wanted to hear more of the killer guitar work will assuredly not be disappointed. “Metemtechnosis” also carries on the story of “Technotheism” in part two of what will be a trilogy. Everything that was present in “Technotheism” has been brought back in more compelling ways, and the performances are more on-point than ever before.”

Similar to “Technotheism”, the tracks were written as necessary to touch on the major story beats of the album; an overarching science-fiction story about a far future where technological advancement puts into question a lot of things taken for granted, like the definition of humanity, individuality, progress, and the line between all of these things. After the third album in the trilogy is released, The Design Abstract will move to a different fictional setting, but the music will continue to experiment with the elements they use in new and innovative ways.

All songs on “Metemtechnosis” were written and performed by Voiicide (vocals/bass/programming), Logan Mayhem (guitars/modular synthesis), and Matt Ngo (guitars). It was produced, mixed, and mastered by Voiicide at Abstrakted Records and the album artwork was done by Yuta Shimpo.

The Design Abstract has a sound that is distinctively theirs and is recommended for fans of Soilwork, Septicflesh, and Divine Disorder.

“Metemtechnosis” is streaming now in full via its exclusive premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The album “Metemtechnosis” drops on October 29, 2021 via Abstrakted Records.

About:
The Design Abstract is a 3-piece Symphonic Melodic Death Metal band from Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Canada. The band focuses heavily on storytelling and worldbuilding with a futuristic and sci-fi narrative to each album they create. The Design Abstract formed in 2011 as a solo project under the name Design, and after many lineup changes, grew into a musical entity that presents a bold, epic, and even monolithic fusion of orchestra, synth, and melodic death metal. Sweeping symphonic passages, harsh industrial elements, highly proficient and memorable guitar work, and brutal guttural vocals mixed with soaring cleans are all blended in many ways to put forth a truly unique and powerful musical experience.

– 30 –

“Incorporating old school sci-fi visual elements with choppy electronics, catchy guitar parts and perfectly timed kick drums, this track (Parallel Projection) is a synth metal blast!” – Metal Injection

“A symphonic technical death metal masterpiece with an amazing concept to keep you engaged from start to finish \m/” – Heavy New York

“Now for some nerd shit. Technotheism is a concept record about the future that at it’s core is a melodic death metal record, but the band dabbles with electronic elements, technicality, and grand orchestrations throughout. Fans of Last Chance To Reason and really any band Mike Semesky (Ordinance, Raunchy, etc) has been a part of will probably dig this.” – Metal Injection

“This is a grandiose affair, full of musicality, technicality, and narrative. Thirteen tracks of symphonic melodic death metal that tells a cyberpunk story of a group of rebels fighting to regain control of Earth. It ranges from technical guitar work to atmospheric electronic passages, and just about everything in between.” – The Prog Space

“I love hearing something ambitious and genre-bending when a band can follow through on their vision.  The Design Abstract is one such band, one that had an idea and put it together almost flawlessly… This album is every bit as diverse, colorful, and epic as I had hoped, and there are jaw-dropping moments galore.  I absolutely love this record.” – The Prog Mind

“The Design Abstract goes for a big symphonic style in extreme metal, with a few twists and surprises along the way. Fans of the dystopian and/or futuristic sounds may find the album especially interesting. The Design Abstract is the symphony that remains after the alien zombies have taken over and this is the music that they want the world to hear to remind everyone that the zombies are horrible beings that enjoy tormenting the population with grandiose cacophony. When can the party begin, right?” – Metal Bulletin Zine

About:

Projekt F was founded in 2006 by John M. Miller, lead singer and main composer of the band. Inspired by rock/industrial/metal music of the 90’s, Projekt F quickly made a name for themselves in the underground music scene of Montreal. Miller was joined by William Hicks (bass) in 2010, Simon Sayz (guitar) in 2013, and Fred Linx (drums) in 2014.

Their first EP named “0000” saw the light of day in 2009 with 500 physical copies made by the band being sold out in no time, and more than 1000 digital copies downloaded. Continuing to evolve in the Montreal Industrial scene, the band accumulated a large number of shows across the Province of Quebec and Ontario with their musical originality and their intensity on stage. In 2012, the band was invited to play alongside Combichrist at the biggest industrial music festival in Canada, Kinetik Festival. During the last few years they have shared the stage with international bands such as Motionless In White, Revolting Cocks, Angelspit, Nachtmar, Left Spine Down, Slaves on Dope, New Years Day, For Today and Ice Nine Kills.

Projekt F has also had the opportunity to do a performance of their song “Room 13” in a TV pilot called “Cause and Effect” (produced by Vaas Media). Their song “Oophorectomy” is also featured in a short movie called “Purple Love” (produced by Les films de la meute), featured at the 2013 Cannes Festival.

Taking a darker and more personal musical road, Projekt F launched their album “Skins” in 2013 and 2014’s EP “Under The Skin”, which is now followed by their newest EP, “The Butterfly Effect” set for release on March 4, 2016. It is said to be a direct sequel to their previous conceptual effort ”Skins”.
