NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 20, 2019

For fans of Emperor, Death, Morbid Angel, Immortal, Goatwhore

Winnipeg Cosmic Black Metal CELL Unleash ‘God of The NetherRealm’ Off Upcoming Album Out October 2019

New Album ‘Ancient Incantations Of Xarbos’ Out October 4th

CELL, Canada’s three-piece conceptual cosmic black metal outfit are releasing a new album ‘Ancient Incantations Of Xarbos’ to follow up their first album ‘The Frozen Moon Of Erebath’ (2016) on October 4, 2019.

With major influences coming from Emperor, Death, Morbid Angel, and Immortal, CELL takes familiar black metal sounds and infuses it with a science fiction theme that spans their albums.

Each track on ‘Ancient Incantations Of Xarbos’ has its own story on the album that leads to one big ending which is the decimation of the Xarbonite hierarchy. Fueled with tales of tech, black magic, and necromancy the album is cosmic ride with pummeling riffs. CELL talks about some of the concepts on the album:

“The whole album takes place on a planet called Xarbos. There is a great civil war that has been happening on Xarbos for the few millennia since the two races divided and chose to take different paths with their ways of life. One race chose to rise with power, tech, money and also started the destruction of the other race to achieve their evil agenda. The lower race is actually the oldest of Xarbos and knows the ways of the land and its magic.”

The single ‘God of The NetherRealm’ has special significance to CELL as Hyperion explains:

“This song was written for my friend Chad Alsop of the great band Dead Ranch. He passed away in June 2017 and it devastated me and many friends within our music scene in Winnipeg. He was a big push for CELL and inspired us to go harder every day and every show. In this song, his soul travels to the NetherRealm and he encounters the one who sits on the throne there. He then goes forward and challenges the god of the NetherRealm to combat and wins. When one dethrones the god of this realm, they now have to take the mantle and rule.”

‘God of The NetherRealm’ can be heard exclusively at the following link on NoCleanSinging.com here.

Bio:

Cell is a three-piece conceptual black metal band that formed in 2014 reigning from Winnipeg, Canada. They blend elements of old school and modern black metal with hints of death metal, hardcore, thrash, and doom to create reality-altering unrelenting cosmic black metal. Their concept is based on a science fiction comic book idea that Hyperion (guitar/vocals) was working to bring to life, but decided instead to turn into music.

Each song starts with Hyperion taking the reins by writing the song structure, riffs, and lyrics; Deimos (bass/vocals) and Hypnos (drums) adding in their preferences for riffs, lyrics and other such things to alter the songs for the better. There is a lot of cathartic emotion put into each song that connects to each member on a personal level while keeping within the dark sci-fi concept and using metaphors of what we as humans do to this planet and the life on it.

Using these topics, it’s easy for Cell to let everything out on stage every during every performance. They use a lot of art and theatre within the live show including using corpse paint, blood, armor, pro audio lights, and lasers. To see our show is to experience something emotional, aggressive, theatrical and cosmic.

Cell has toured across Canada multiple times and have been featured on several festivals including Black Mourning Light, Loud As Hell Metalfest, Armstrong Metalfest and Manitoba Metalfest sharing the stage with the likes of Skeletonwitch, Goatwhore, DRI, Revocation, and Aggression. They released their debut album ‘The Frozen Moon Of Erebath’ in 2016 and follow it up in 2019 with ‘Ancient Incantations Of Xarbos’.

About:

Two things always contribute to creating epic original black metal…

One is location, and by being based in Colorado, the Rocky Mountains provide the ideal canvas for technical symphonic black metal band Sar Isatum to sweep broad musical brush strokes across a vast vista, musically, mentally, and physically.

The second is lyrical inspiration. Sar Isatum eschew all the usual flogged- to-death lyrical clichés of black metal to take inspiration from a variety of sources. The very name Sar Isatum comes from the Sumerian dialect. It means ‘King of Fire.’ Indeed, both the Sumerian and Annunaki empires provide strong lyrical inspiration.

Inspired by Emperor, Dark Funeral, Gorgoroth, Sothis and Craft, band member J.P Dalkhu describes Sar Isatum’s music as “ethereal, nefarious, repugnant, abhorrent, cryptic.”

Sar Isatum have high expectations of their upcoming debut album, but at the same time, Sar Isatum create music for themselves, not copying what has come before, but fans of various styles of black metal will find much to appreciate here. As Dalkhu so lyrically says Sar Isatum create “a variation of extreme and atmospheric black metal as if one went through a burning battlefield and witnessed horrid devastation.” Dalkhu feels that this is the best band its members have ever been a part of and are constantly evolving as musicians.

Lyrically, Demothi of Sar Isatum very much ploughs his own furrow, creating songs that feel as though they have always existed, a part of the fabric of space and time. “Sar Isatum’s lyrics are inspired by native folklore, science fiction, historical events, extraterrestrial theory and the reimagining of biblical happenings from outside points- of- view.”

“Combining symphonic, atmospheric and pummeling elements of black metal history, the band conjures an impressive battle cry that any grim fan can easily connect with.” – Metal Injection

“Sar Isatum is Sumerian, meaning “King of Fire”, and they even incorporate lyrical themes therefrom. Combined with their own majestic vistas of the Rocky Mountains, the combination makes for mighty sweepingly soaring black metal.” – No Clean Singing

“Sar Isatum are not messing about…Great symphonic black does not find its way onto my radar as often as it should these days but the ritualistic drumming leading into a blistering, well produced assault of technical obsidian majesty felt like a clarion-call charge into battle and served well as a savage statement of intent.” – Black Metal Daily

“Sar Isatum may be unknown, but they know how to kick derriere and that’s exactly what their Shurpu debut does…. have left a positive impression and placed themselves on the radar as a US black metal band worth keeping a close eye on.” – Angry Metal Guy

“The trio, JP Dalkhu, Damothi and CC conjure up a pretty tight sound, precisely delivered drum work, brutal, technical blackened riffing, a crushingly dark underlying groove, slick direction switching and an acerbic vocal delivery, what’s not to like!” – Metal Talk

“Two things always contribute to creating epic original black metal. One is location, and by being based in Colorado, the Rocky Mountains provide the ideal canvas for technical symphonic black metal band SAR ISATUM to sweep broad musical brush strokes across a vast vista, musically, mentally, and physically.” The Grim Reader

“Sar Isatum’s debut album marks a very mature and well defined sound for the band. It really shouldn’t be a first album, and therefore shows too much promise. Songs may cross over each other but they tread on themselves in a fast horde of fiercely proud evil. Shurpu is a effortlessly proud album ready to stand its own amongst the rest of the horned dragons of Black Metal. There will be a lot more from Sar Isatum.” – Noizze UK

“the band has assembled a collection of gripping songs with good variation on their 35-minute debut” – Gorger’s Metal

“Taking a cue from the classic Norwegian black metal crowd, Sar Isatum is an intense explosion of black metal fury backed by a melodic symphonic, and slightly theatrical, atmosphere. It’s unrelenting on all fronts. While the intensity is unending, the songs are also well structured with infectious riffing that keeps your attention and easily worms into your gooey brain. This album fucking kills.  It’s nice to hear some awesomely ferocious and nasty black metal coming out of my home state.” – Metal Marks The Spot

Debut Album “Shurpu” Digital Release Nov 17th, CD Release Dec 22nd

Two things always contribute to creating epic original black metal. One is location, and by being based in Colorado, the Rocky Mountains provide the ideal canvas for technical symphonic black metal band SAR ISATUM to sweep broad musical brush strokes across a vast vista, musically, mentally, and physically.

The second is lyrical inspiration. SAR ISATUM eschews all the usual flogged-to-death lyrical clichés of black metal to take inspiration from a variety of sources.

SAR ISATUM have high expectations of their upcoming debut album “Shurpu”, but at the same time, SAR ISATUM create music for themselves, not copying what has come before, but fans of various styles of black metal will find much to appreciate here.

Teaming up with IndyMetalVault, SAR ISATUM are sharing with fans their third single “Black Gate”.

The band comments:

“‘Black Gate’ is one of our simplest songs with a more traditional black metal influence, and different from the other songs on the album. Lyrically ‘Black Gate’ is about a family who is ostracized from their village and then chooses to set up a new home on the edge of forest ruled over by a powerful witch. After kidnapping the family’s baby and using its remains in a ritual to enact flight upon a broom into the full moon, the witch decides to possess the younger children and then the oldest daughter who she aids in the killing of her parents. The oldest daughter then chooses to sign a pact with the Devil joining his coven of witches in the forest. ‘Black Gate’ represents the barrier between the woods and the area outside, and only by joining the Devil’s coven are you allowed to enter freely.”

SAR ISATUM have high expectations of their upcoming debut album “Shurpu”, but at the same time, SAR ISATUM create music for themselves, not copying what has come before, but fans of various styles of black metal will find much to appreciate here.

Teaming up with Decibel Magazine, SAR ISATUM are sharing with fans their second single “Chenoo”.

The band comments:

“Chenoo is the second song of the album, it’s a completely different from the first self titled track on the album, it’s a devastating track from beginning to end, Chenoo is about the evil man-eating ice giants of northern Wabanaki legends. A Chenoo was once a human being who either became possessed by an evil spirit or committed a terrible crime (especially cannibalism or withholding food from a starving person), causing his heart to turn to ice. In a few legends a human has been successfully rescued from the frozen heart of a Chenoo, but usually once a person has been transformed into a Chenoo, their only escape is death.”

For those in the Denver, CO area, SAR ISATUM will be performing with Belphegor, Cryptopsy,  Panzerfaust, and Mount Cairn on November 19th at the Roxy Theatre. Full details can be found here.

“We are gonna get on stage and take it on like a battle in a war. Expect an intense live show from us, like a fire destroying everything in its path.” says Dalkhu.

Teaming up with Metal Injection, SAR ISATUM are giving fans a sneak peak with their self-titled track from their forthcoming debut album.

The band comments:

“The song, Sar Isatum, the opening track of the album represents our own sound and influences within the band, a versatile song with a war intro that leads way to a devastating attack, a war cry and a statement to the audience by hostility nature of the band, we are the conduits of Sar Isatum and this is our ritual to capture the listener.”
