Montreal, QC – January 17, 2023

Rockshots Records – EMBRYO New Video “Darkest Lights” ft. Drummer George Kollias (Nile)

New Album “A Vivid Shade on Misery” Out March 17th

Italian melodic death Embryo is sharing the first glimpse of brutality from their forthcoming fifth album “A Vivid Shade on Misery”, which features the band’s recruitment of international drumming powerhouse George Kollias (Nile) for its recording. Due out on March 17th, 2023 via Rockshots Records, Embryo shares its first single “Darkest Lights” accompanied by a music video. The track is melodic, but with an unforgettable groove.

Watch and listen to “Darkest Lights” at the following links:

Digital – https://bfan.link/darkest-lights

“A Vivid Shade on Misery” follows the band’s 2017’s “A Step Beyond Divinity” (Art Gates Records), 2015’s Self-Titled (logic(il)logic Records) that featured Fleshgod Apocalypse’s drummer Francesco Paoli, 2010’s “No God Slave” and their 2006 debut “Chaotic Age”.

Since the band’s inception, Embryo has toured across Europe with Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin, Tribulation, Nile, Immolation, Ragnarok, Monuments of Misanthropy, and Suffocation along with performing on festivals such as Masters of Rock (CZ), and Total Metal Festival (Italy).

Embryo began writing their fifth offering in 2020 with George Kollias and entered the Domination Studio in July 2021 with producer Simone Mularoni, and engineer Simone Bertozzi.

Monolithic, intense, powerful, technical, and melodic this new album features eight brand new tracks and is another concept album like its predecessor “A Step Beyond Divinity”. The band is inspired by historical Italian figures of the Renaissance era and their tormented lives, their absolute genius, and the gifts they gave to the world. While the previous album “A Step Beyond Divinity” was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci, this new work is totally inspired by Michelangelo Merisi alias Caravaggio, an Italian painter active in Rome for most of his artistic life.

“With “A Vivid Shade on Misery” we want to have listeners dive into our world by giving them brutal and atmospheric music melted together in the way we love to do plus having Kollias drum on this new album, one of the best drummers in the world, is just an absolute honour. Overall, fans will find this album has the “Embryo” matrix, there’s no doubt about that. It will be a more direct record and its songs make up a pattern that takes the listener on a journey through torments and anxieties, but which at the same time gives him pure energy.” adds the band.

From the band’s first album “Chaotic Age” (2006) to today, Embryo‘s music has evolved over the years. On the first record, they were more brutal and messier, now their compositions are much more “thought out” and brilliant. If they had to use one word to describe their compositional evolution they would say “sharp”.

Recommended for fans of Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Death, and Dimmu Borgir, Embryo will be sharing singles and videos in the coming months in lead up to the record’s release.

About: After a couple of self-produced works and a first album (“Chaotic Age”) Embryo found its sound and recorded “No God Slave” (2010) with producer Simone Mularoni. The album received very good reviews and led the band to play new gigs in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy and be part of Kung Fu Factory’s Supremacy MMA videogame soundtrack with 2 songs. In 2014 Embryo first recorded a promo at Atomic Stuff Studio with Oscar Burato, then, in May, the band recorded the new self-titled cd at Domination Studio with Simone Mularoni. During the summer they played the main stage at Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic and Total Metal Festival in Italy. In October Embryo signed a deal with logic(il)logic Records for the release of the album and the reissue of “No God Slave” with some bonus tracks. In December the band made a little tour in Eastern Europe. The new album “Embryo” came out on the 10th of February 2015. The album received great reviews worldwide and Embryo started a European tour in May with Melechesh, Keep of Kalessin, and Tribulation. After a great show at MetalFest in the Czech Republic in July, the band joined Nile and Suffocation for the second part of their European tour in September. In 2016 the band has been part of the second leg of the “What Should Not Be Unearthed” Nile tour with Melechesh and Mithridatic. Embryo finished the recordings of the new album in January at Domination Studios again with guru Simone Mularoni. The band played at the 2017 edition of MetalFest in the Czech Republic on Sunday, June 4th, and signed a deal with Art Gates Records for the release of the 4th studio album “A Step Beyond Divinity” which came out on the 27th of October 2017 in Spain and the 24th of November 2017 in the rest of the world. The album has been enthusiastically reviewed entering the 2017 best albums of the year charts in various webzines all over the world. In November 2019 the band joined “The Last Atonement European tour” supporting Immolation, Ragnarok, and Monuments of Misanthropy for all the shows. In December the band released a free download digital EP including the new song Misguided legacy and three live songs taken from a live show of the band. In 2020 the famous drummer George Kollias (Nile) joined Embryo in the writing of the new album. The band entered again Domination Studio in July 2021 to record the brand new fifth album “A Vivid Shade On Misery”, which will be released in early 2023, anticipated by the video of the new song “Darkest Lights”. Stay tuned!

Montreal, Canada’s Synastry will have a second EP out, less than six months after unleashing “Civilization’s Coma”. The new EP, “Dividing The Double Helix” is thematically similar to the first and before it officially releases on March 26th, it is streaming in full on Decibel Magazine HERE.

One of the prime focuses of the group is to stay true to themselves, while they keep writing heavier yet groovy music, there is an underlying method to the madness. They like brutality, but don’t try to be brutal for brutalities’ sake. They further explain the new release in their own words:

“We are very excited to be able to release this EP as the second in the string of releases coming from Synastry since our renaissance in 2020. Listeners will love the hooks and the musicianship on these three songs, which are strong enough to stand on their own and when combined makes “Dividing The Double Helix” is an EP that will grab you and won’t let go!”

Synastry is just getting started, but they are quickly falling into their stride. According to the band, these three songs are part of a big batch of songs they have recorded and are slowly releasing. The lyrics for these songs and all other songs to be released find themselves in a kind of disjointed tapestry that follows an ever-growing story.

Aggressive and groovy, “Dividing The Double Helix” is a fast-paced groove fest that will hook you from the first note and make you bang your head throughout. It is recommended for fans of Within the Ruins, Fear Factory, and Slipknot.

“Dividing The Double Helix” will be available in its entirety on March 26, 2021 on Synastry.bandcamp.com, Spotify,  Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. Dividing The Double Helix (3:37)
2. Cryolife (4:04)

About:
It takes courage for a band to integrate such distinct thrash, death, and industrial influences into a catchy yet multilayered approach as do Montreal’s Synastry.

Each metal listener desires something different and thus a band exists for every taste. Inspired to a certain point by melodic, futuristic death thrash, Synastry binds to these influences a threatening mid-paced groove, atmospheric textures, and the unmistakable gruff and mature vocals of James Aniston. Flanked by guitarist Paul Iverson and bassist Gary Vee, and backed up by the thunderous Kay Kessler, Synastry is a crushing wall of well thought out and meticulously written metal. Lyrics come from Aniston’s impression of the world and his experiences in it which are layered with the collaborative music that all band members contribute to.

Started originally in the early 00s, the Montreal band took the underground scene by storm, they climbed the Myspace ranks, toured the regions, and released “Pallets Of My New World” (2006) (EP) and Blind Eyes Bleed (2008) (LP). In 2012, the band went dormant, where they remained until 2020 and awakened the world with the rumbling sounds of their resurrection in the form of EP “Civilization’s Coma”. Its mission amidst the widespread uncertainty of Covid times was to sweep the globe and to explore humanity, the singularity, and its morality.

Just like a rising phoenix, Synastry continues to burn its flames by kicking off 2021 with another EP.

Entitled “Dividing The Double Helix”, the EP is three tracks best described as a fast-paced groove fest that will once again hook fans from the first note and make you bang your head throughout. It’s simply heavy groovy brutality!

“We hope to give fans more of what they are used to from us, without rehashing old ideas. Thematically these 3 songs are similar to Civilization’s Coma EP, but the delivery is different. The lyrics from these three new tracks are very personal to me. It comes from my impression of how I feel I fit in the modern world, and how I see myself.” says vocalist James Aniston.

“Dividing The Double Helix” is due out on March 26, 2021.

“This new song (Dead To Me) is a short, sharp kick to the head — and it does kick like a furious mule, albeit a massive and mechanized one. The music is fast and ferocious, loaded with pulse-rifle riffs and hammering drums, blaring chords and squirming arpeggios, booming bass and a mix of serrated-edge growls and incendiary screams. The music is heavy-grooved, with a bit of a start-stop quality that hints at industrial influences to go along with the death/thrashing momentum, and also effectively creates an atmosphere of menace and mayhem. It may bring memories of Lamb of God to mind as well as Fear Factory.” – No Clean Singing (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“This EP contains lyrics that people from all walks of life can relate to and shines a much-needed light on each individual’s importance in the grand scheme. Given the year we have had collectively, this is one new age metal album that the world needed. If you’re looking for a futuristic metal EP with a deeper meaning, “Civilization’s Coma” is a must listen.” 10.10 – Metal Temple (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“The hammer blow that is “Dead to Me” was the first single, front loaded with schizophrenic riffs and jack hammer footwork Synastry have wasted no time in delivering something that is straight to the point with vicious intent. There is even time for blast beats and some Godflesh inspired industrial noises that frame and enhance segments. Aniston has the power to manipulate his voice to create a number of different voices with the use of pitching and on the ripper that is “Narcomancy“, he sounds like he’s going slowly insane.” – Metal Noise (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“James Aniston’s throat abrasions are raucous and psychopathic at the same time, boiling with anger and imperious might. The double-kick triplets of Kay Kessler’s drum patterns follow the syncopated guitar chugs in perfect time. Everything clicks into place like a torture machine from a Hellraiser film” – Scream Blast Repeat (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“Synastry deliver their brand of classic death metal with an industrial twist. The result is a Thrashy head-long experiment into the brutal and somewhat futuristic. Musically tight and heavy with mean riffs, Synastry try to head into a new direction for Metal.” – Sea of Tranquility (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“Montreal-based metal maulers Synastry play a brutal yet groovy style of death metal with fringes of industrial that recall bands such as Fear Factory and Killing Joke with the savagery of acts like Kataklysm.” – Gears of Rock (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

Montreal’s Synastry has been hard at work in the past year; after re-forming early in 2020, they released an EP “Civilization’s Coma” in November, now they are announcing the release of another EP “Dividing The Double Helix” slated for March 26, 2021.

This second EP offers more groove and aggressiveness than the first, and it’s apparent that Synastry aims to give fans more of what they are used to, without rehashing old ideas. Thematically these three new songs are similar to “Civilization’s Coma”, but the delivery takes a different form. The band shares their thoughts on the EP’s title track and single “Dividing The Double Helix”:

“We are very happy to be able to share this track with listeners everywhere. It’s the kind of song that will hook you right away and has a little something for everyone. As you listen to it more and more, you can hear your cells dividing and your DNA being infiltrated by Synastry’s relentless grooves!”

There is more in store for fans of Synastry, they explain that the lyrical concept for this EP and the rest of the EPs they are planning on releasing are written from the viewpoint of the individual’s view of themselves in relation to society. The hope that the individual can take the responsibility to be ‘better’ for the whole while not compromising their own wants, needs, and beliefs.

“Dividing The Double Helix” is heavy, modern metal that is easy to get into, but at the same time, interesting enough to not be a flash in the pan. It is recommended for fans of Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and Within the Ruins.

The lead single and EP title track “Dividing The Double Helix” can be heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit HERE.

“Dividing The Double Helix” will be available in its entirety on March 26, 2021 on Synastry.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

After being silent for nearly a decade, Montreal’s Synastry unleashed their new EP “Civilization’s Coma” this past November. The band made a name for themselves on the Quebec and Ontario tour circuits in the early 2000s along with their releases Pallets Of My New World (2006) (EP) and Blind Eyes Bleed (2008) (LP). In 2012, the band went dormant, where they remained until 2020 remerging from the shadows.

Today the band is sharing their lyric video for their new EP’s title track, which can be viewed HERE.

The band adds:

“The title track of the EP is a dissonant groove fest that gets into you and doesn’t let go. Everything is super heavy yet infectious. Vocals have the longest continuous scream by James Aniston doing a 22 second inhale scream starting at 2:34. The lyrics are about how civilization is on autopilot, consideration, and compassion is out the window for everyone, yet we all share the suffering for it, but choose to do nothing.”

With newfound vigor, “Civilization’s Coma” is filled with heavy groovy modern metal that will be familiar to existing fans of the band while encouraging new listeners to embrace them. This reintroduction will give metalheads a taste of what’s to come while being able to stand on its own merit. This EP is just the start for Synastry who hopes they can bring their energetic live shows back to crowds far and wide post Covid times.

Recommended for anyone who enjoys groove and melodic metal, especially those with an existing fondness for Within The Ruins, and Fear Factory.

In 2012, the band went dormant, where they remained until 2020.

The socially conscious band awoke amidst the widespread uncertainty that swept the globe, with a mission to explore humanity, the singularity, and morality. Forged in the hotbed of metal that is Montreal, they are here to raise the temperature once again with the release of their new EP “Civilization’s Coma” on November 27th.

It may bring memories of Lamb of God to mind as well as Fear Factory.” – No Clean Singing

Aniston has the power to manipulate his voice to create a number of different voices with the use of pitching and on the ripper that is “Narcomancy“, he sounds like he’s going slowly insane.” – Metal Noise

After close to a decade of silence, Montreal’s Synstary have left the shadows to bring fans a new EP “Civilization’s Coma” on Nov 27th. The first single will be “Dead To Me” and it is a ruthless and suitable reintroduction to a Montreal favourite.

A full-on assault, the band is pleased to be working together again and getting listeners stoked on their brand of metal. Synstary explains their return in their own words:

“We reformed because we wanted to create and release more music, and decided that since we are still so close, to continue as Synastry. We think that people will enjoy the new album, it is very much of the times, and we are confident that fans in 2020 will groove on Synastry.”

The single “Dead To Me” is just over two minutes of intensity. Straightforward and easy to digest while still being multi-faceted. It’s a fast, short song that gives you three gut punches and finishes with an uppercut. The lyrics allude to toxic/two-faced relationships the band has dealt with from others in ‘the scene’.

This EP welcomes back listeners to Synastry’s trademark aggressive beatdown. It will get listeners moving and headbanging with its in your face attitude, music, and vocals. Lyrically, the band is exploring the world through a lens that reflects back its own shortcomings.

Heavy and punishing, Synastry is recommended for fans of Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and Within the Ruins. The EP will be released on November 27th.

The single “Dead To Me” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“Montreal-based metal maulers Synastry play a brutal yet groovy style of death metal with fringes of industrial that recall bands such as Fear Factory and Killing Joke with the savagery of acts like Kataklysm.” – Gears of Rock

Montreal’s Synastry made a name for themselves back in the late 2000s with the release of LP “Blind Eyes Bleed” (Year of the Sun Records) (2008) and debut EP “Pallets of My New World” (2006). After hiding in the shadows for nearly a decade, the band returns to the mosh pit with a brand new offering, EP “Civilization’s Coma” announced to be unleashed on November 27th, 2020, which is planned to be the foundation to re-introducing themselves to the metal community along with a full length to follow in 2021.

The comments on their resurrection:

“We think that people will enjoy the new EP. It is very much of the time, and we are confident that fans in 2020 will groove on Synastry. We are trying to reintroduce our sound and our band, and think that the “Civilizations Coma” will give fans a taste of what’s to come while being able to stand on its own merit. We think that the tracks on the EP work well with each other, and in relation to the next few releases we have planned, should accomplish the goal of re-establishing us with fans and our extreme sounds. With this EP, it may be short, and sweet, as the cliche goes, but fans who know us from our previous releases will notice we went from heavy to heavier. We think we have grown and that is reflected in these three new songs, with of course plenty more to come.”

A re-acquaintance to Synastry’s trademark aggressive groove, “Civilization’s Coma” will have listeners moving and headbanging with its in your face attitude, music, and vocals. It’s an attacking, melodic, proggy, djenty, death metal record, laying down a new path for the quartet.

Heavy and punishing, Synastry is recommended for fans of Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and Within the Ruins.

Mexico’s CIRROSIS Releases New Music Video “The Daydreamer’s Nightmare”

New Album In 20 Years “The Collector of Truths” Out In 2019

Mexico’s CIRROSIS have just released their latest music video for their next single “The Daydreamer’s Nightmare” off their upcoming album “The Collector of Truths” due out later in 2019. The album is the band’s second studio release and first in English to follow their debut Spanish language album “Reciclando Desesperación” released 20 years ago in 1999.

Watch “The Daydreamer’s Nightmare” at the following link: https://youtu.be/OuNAjN73Xpc

The video was directed by Carlos Hermosillo and showcases the band’s mix of death and thrash, suitable for fans of Fear Factory, Morbid Angel and Pestilence. The band has been lurking in the shadows and with Grammy-nominated producer Francisco ‘Chucky’ Oroz playing guitar they are finally ready to return to the underground metal scene and prove they can still write fast and technical music.

Even after 20 years, CIRROSIS is still in demand and they are looking forward to satisfying their longtime fans and impressing new ones.

Vocalist Sir Oz comments:

“Fans will hear a more versatile and technical Cirrosis, it’s organized brutality and non-pretentious songs. There are songs that seem to have an insane competition of virtuosity, we respect that, but we seek to offer a good song, heavy but structured songs. However, this does not mean that fans are not going to find technical aspects in our album; actually, they are going to find it a lot.”

CIRROSIS‘ first single off  “A Better Place To Hate” featuring Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Chimaira) can be heard at the following link: https://youtu.be/L7wfo2qjUgE

Track Listing:
1. Asfixia

BIO:

CIRROSIS is a death metal band from Sonora, Mexico, formed in 1991 with the name Cirrosis by Francisco ‘Chucky’ Oroz and Sir Oz, being the only original members in the current lineup. Due to their technical capacity they incorporated early progressive elements and melodic solos, CIRROSIS quickly gained notoriety in the local and national scene. Their live performances were characterized by their intensity and fury, soon becoming a cult band. In 1996, Joseph Lev joined the band and they recorded their first demo “La Tierra de la Adicción”. In 1999, CIRROSIS entered the studio and recorded the album “Reciclando Desesperación”, with lyrics exclusively in Spanish.

In 2001, CIRROSIS decided to break up, so the members could continue with their personal and professional projects. In 2014, Concreto Records decided to reissue the album “Reciclando Desesperación” describing it as “the maladaptive sound that disturbed a style in Mexico that can give lessons to current and modern bands”.

20 years later, CIRROSIS is releasing their second studio album “The Collector of Truths” which will be released in 2019.

Montreal, QC – January 28, 2019

IMONOLITH Announce Debut Canadian Show Dates

Featuring former and current members of
Devin Townsend Project, Threat Signal, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Methods of Mayhem

Debut Single ‘Hollow’ Out Now!

Show Dates:
February 23 – Vancouver, BC @ The Red Room – info
March 1 – Calgary, AB @ Dickens – info
March 2 – Edmonton, AB @ Starlite Room (Temple) – info

IMONOLITH, the new metal powerhouse featuring vocalist Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Arkaea), drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian Waddell (Devin Townsend Project), bassist Byron Stroud (Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory), and second guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) announce they will be performing their three debut shows in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

“We’re all looking forward to our first 3 live shows ever with, Imonolith. Vancouver on Feb 23rd, Calgary on March 1st and Edmonton on March 2nd. It’s a new chapter for us all. It’s an exciting time, especially when you’re playing music that you love and created with good friends. The show itself is going to be energetic, powerful and something to look forward to, in every city we play. We collectively have so much live experience from touring the world over the years, through the past bands we played in. We plan on using all that experience to put on one hell of a show every night with, Imonolith. We can’t wait for that first date!” says drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen.

IMONOLITH recently made an unforgettable entrance with their debut single, “Hollow”, which can be experienced via their brand new music video here: https://youtu.be/57tcysG4QgY

“Hollow” can also be streamed/purchased via https://imonolith.lnk.to/HollowPR.

“Hollow” serves as the perfect introduction to IMONOLITH, a band whose mission is simple: to write the heaviest riffs, the biggest hooks, and most monstrous grooves. Given the impressive pedigree of each player, they do exactly this and more.

Recorded and produced by Brian Howes and Jay Van Poederooyen (Nickelback, Chris Cornell, Airbourne, Hinder, Daughtry) at Van Howes Studios in Los Angeles, California, “Hollow” is immediately setting the bar high and the best is yet to come.

Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen comments:

“’Hollow’ is a song about the personal battles we all can face internally. Social pressures and self-expectation can drive you to a point of feeling hollow inside if you don’t meet specific standards in your mind. The song itself actually has a positive message built into it. It’s not about feeling hollow, it’s more about preventing that hollow feeling that any one of us can develop through negative thinking and limited beliefs.”

Fans can expect many surprises as they unveil more music. RVP continues:

“As for ‘Hollow’, musically it represents the catchier side of IMONOLITH’s music. We have varying influences spread throughout the band and we don’t like to play just one style of music. We have a more metal crushing side, a catchier radio side and then music that fits in-between our heavy and catchier vibes. We always aim to make IMONOLITH’s overall sound diverse and interesting. Most of all, we’re always focused on trying to write a great song, no matter if it’s heavy or catchy.”

IMONOLITH was officially formed in February 2018 by drummer Ryan ‘RVP’ Van Poederooyen and guitarist Brian Waddell, although the pair started writing their own brand of heavy music in 2015 whilst playing together in the Devin Townsend Project. RVP and Waddell then went on to recruit vocalist Jon Howard, bassist Byron Stroud, and second guitarist Kai Huppunen, completing a fearsome line-up. The Canadian quintet has since written a mass of highly diverse material, which appeals to everyone from the metalhead to the radio rock fan, and everyone in between.

Since teasing demos and video clips online, IMONOLITH has amassed a dedicated legion of supporters worldwide, and with the release of the new single, their following is set to expand by the thousands. With their first run of shows throughout Canada announced and big international plans in the pipeline, 2019 is set to be a huge year for IMONOLITH.
