AITTALA Unveils Video For Title Track From Second EP of 2025 “Ill-Gotten Gains”

Welcome New Bassist Dane Taylor

EP Out Nov 21st via Exitus Stratagem Records

AITTALA Lineup – Gary ‘Smith’ Zeus (Drums), Eric Aittala (Guitar/Vox), Dane Taylor (Bass)

Metal visionaries AITTALA (pronounced EYE-tah-la) are returning with their second EP of 2025 via Exitus Stratagem Records, “Ill-Gotten Gains,”. Before it officially drops on November 21st, the band is unveiling the official video for the crushing title track, along with introducing their newest member, bassist Dane Taylor, marking a bold new chapter in the band’s evolution.

Check out the video premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

True to their reputation for defying genre boundaries, AITTALA weave together threads of traditional heavy metal, doom, groove, and progressive elements to create a cohesive yet unpredictable sonic journey. Lyrically, “Ill-Gotten Gains” explores the darker corners of human ambition, chaos created for personal gain, the inevitable consequences, and the fragile hope of redemption.

The EP opens with “Isolation,” a doomy, heavy piece that confronts the fallout of past decisions, setting a dark and reflective tone. The title track, “Ill-Gotten Gains,” follows with a riff-driven intensity that shifts into a crushing interlude, lyrically exploring the exploitation of chaos for personal benefit. “Blacklisted” brings groove and sludge to the forefront, exposing manipulators and serving as a counterpoint to the themes of the earlier songs. The mood softens with “Ever After,” a modern metal ballad that wrestles with internal conflict and the elusive promise of redemption. Closing the EP, “Ashes” channels classic heavy metal energy, telling the story of someone in over their head, dragging others down in their descent.

The EP’s artwork resurrects AITTALA’s infamous mascot Frank, a cartoon pig head in a pentagram, first conceived in 2014 for the album “Effigy”. This updated interpretation of Frank embodies the record’s central theme: the shady figure who thrives in chaos, ready to deliver “ill-gotten gains” for the right price. It’s a fitting visual for a release steeped in stories of exploitation, downfall, and the elusive search for redemption.

With the addition of bassist Dane Taylor, AITTALA’s lineup now features founding member Eric Aittala (guitars/vocals) and drummer Gary “Zeus” Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL). Taylor’s arrival injects fresh energy into the band’s dynamic, reinforcing their commitment to pushing boundaries while staying true to their unique sound.

Formed in 1991 in the Netherlands, AITTALA quickly became a fixture of the Dutch metal scene, sharing stages with The Gathering and Sadist before disbanding in 1993. Resurrected in 2008, the band has since released six full-length albums and multiple EPs, each showcasing growth while retaining their distinctive voice. With “Ill-Gotten Gains,” AITTALA continues their journey of evolution, proving once again that their sound is impossible to confine to a single genre.

“Six full-lengths, two EPs, strong and steady since 2008. Dang. What keeps North Carolina trio AITTALA going? Sheer compulsion for music making is my guess. There’s nothing like the experience of the real thing, despite the obscene ease and seductive sophistication of AI fakery. To hear and feel heavy music live from their minds and voices and hands of real human beings just like you – well, there’s just nothing like it. Bands with stubborn longevity like Aittala serve as an inspiration to the scene. Pick up an instrument, get to jamming, let your voice be heard. If this is your first encounter with the band, perhaps “Isolation” is as good an introduction as any. Mysterious strumming, powerful emphatic chords, and wall-shaking disruption clears the path for soulful, soaring guitar soloing and somber Gothic intonations.” – Doomed & Stoned (2025)

“Bookended by “Machines (Prologue)” and “Machines (Epilogue)”, the album’s structure feels like a full-circle journey. One that captures the essence of the band’s evolution. The blend of storytelling and heavy music makes it clear why these tracks were worth bringing back. With Machines, Aittala doesn’t just revisit the past. They make it hit harder than ever.” – Amplify The Noise (2025 – Machines EP)

“Captivatingly versatile, genre-connecting with plenty of attitude. An intensely powerful and emotionally captivating Electric Doom/Heavy/Power HouseTrip that is excellent at combining expansive melodies and atmospheric melancholic heavy touch. 8/10” – FFM-Rock (2025 – Machines EP)

“A pure blast of good tunes flying around for life. A retro llike cover artwork, it matches it all. The atmosphere and the old tunes still ringing after so many years like it was yesterday. A very good album to own with pleasure. Aittala is here to stay, get your dose of good tunes 100/100.” – The Metal Mag (2025 – Machines EP)

“Eric Aittala is obviously nostalgic on ‘Machines’. But that in no way means that the sound is frozen in the past. On the contrary, the production is modern and powerful. The individual songs are thus transferred to the here and now. A good album, even if the band is ‘only’ a duo.” – Metalheads Forever Magazine (2025 – Machines EP)

Technical death metal guitarist and composer Matt Miller has released a full-band playthrough video for “Summoned,” one of the standout tracks from his new album “Fiber Tormentum,” which dropped this past September from Exitus Stratagem Records.

The playthrough showcases the technical precision and dynamic chemistry of Miller’s newly assembled lineup: Jordan (drums), Justice (bass), and Biko (vocals). Together, the group delivers a performance that is as crushing and relentless as it is melodic and epic, a perfect reflection of the band’s evolving sound.

“‘Summoned’ is about the travel and detailed plans of the invaders, using astonishing acts. The music is something like a computer algorithm or an alien language. We wanted the playthrough to capture both the technicality and the storytelling behind the song; it’s overwhelming, but in the best way possible,” explains Miller.

Watch the playthrough via its premiere on MetalAddicts HERE.

Released in September 2025, “Fiber Tormentum” marks Miller’s first full-band album after years of performing as a solo artist. Originally conceived as an instrumental record, the album evolved into a full-scale concept piece with vocals and contributions from the entire lineup.

Lyrically, “Fiber Tormentum” tells a loose sci-fi narrative of alien invaders manipulating human DNA to enslave humanity. Musically, it blends technical death metal, power metal, progressive death, and symphonic elements into a relentless yet melodic assault.

“We set out to make the best possible record that we could and push ourselves to our best performances. We never settled and always reached higher. We explored all options and left no stone unturned. Fiber Tormentum was the most ambitious project I had ever worked on, and I wanted to make an album that not only belongs alongside the bands and songs that I hold in such high regard but also adds something new to the genre and brings something unique. A technical death metal album with clean vocals and intricate over-the-top guitars locked in step, and in those moments, they don’t back off but accelerate. If anything, it adds a hint of theatricality and makes the songs memorable, or I dare say catchy, with guitar and vocals entwined. One of the key elements of the album is its human feel. Yes, we used some modern production techniques, but this album still retains its human element while remaining focused and airtight. At the very least, this was the next step in my ever-changing musical evolution and expanding horizons, which only means that the next release will be more ambitious while providing a glimpse into our lives, because isn’t that what art is and does?” says Miller.

Miller began his solo project in 2020 during the pandemic, writing songs that pushed his technical and creative limits. After touring as a solo artist with Rings of Saturn on the Cyber Shred Tour 2022, he assembled a full lineup to bring his vision to life. The band has since toured Europe supporting Possessed and continues to build momentum with their intense live shows.

Described in five words: relentless, Soaring, Crushing, Intense, Epic, Miller’s music draws influence from Necrophagist, Wintersun, Symphony X, Nevermore, and The Faceless, while forging a unique identity that merges technical mastery with hook-driven songwriting.

The album artwork, created by the late Joshua Nassaru Ward (Voraath), reflects the album’s core theme: a tormented face mid-transformation, symbolizing the manipulation of human DNA. The title “Fiber Tormentum” is inspired by Roman history, the sound of a ballista’s ropes tightening before release, a metaphor for the tension and release found throughout the album.

Recommended for fans of Necrophagist, Symphony X, Wintersun, The Faceless, and Death, “Fiber Momentum” (released Sept 12th) is available on all major platforms through Exitus Stratagem Records.

“All in all, it’s a fascinating song (Effectively Neutralized) — head-spinning and heart-palpitating but also a heavy-hitter and a conjurer of strange, sinister, and haunting visions. In other words, in the space of just five minutes it pulls off a lot of impressive feats. And the well-filmed and well-edited video for it is a perfect complement, in that it shows us how all these talented performers executed all the impressive accomplishments.” – NoCleanSinging

“I am super excited. I already know this is gonna destroy. Matt Miller just absolutely destroys it on all facets. He has so many guitar techniques that he has absolutely mastered and he can literally play it all.” – Omar Rodriguez – The Metal Mixtape – YouTube Channel

“Hell yeah. Holy moly canoli. Fiverr to Fiber Momentum, and that was the album. This song is Descent into Violence. Holy moly canoli, dude. Go support, Matt Miller. That was absolutely badass. Total shredding. Jordan, also a homie of mine, your drums are incredible. The new singer, Bo, I love the harsh vocals in the clean. Total is it almost the cleans almost reminded me of Queensryche meets Cannibal Corpse. It’s pretty freaking sweet. And of course, Justice always lays down the heavy bass with the beautiful bass faces. But an absolutely incredible album….Matt Miller, you could find him everywhere. He’s an incredible guitar player, one of the best guitar players of our generation. Remember, this is Fiber Tormentum courtesy of Exitus Stratagem Records. So, a huge shout-out to them as well. Matt Miller has so many more songs. If you guys like this song (Descent into Violence), believe me, this guy is an absolute shred master. Not only does he do like a ton of his own originals, he does a ton of covers, and also he’s just a shred master of all sorts. Just exactly how they say, melodic, technical, and death. But I will definitely say the big thing that stands apart about this whole song is great structure, absolutely shredding on all levels, and the vocals are just 100% one-of-a-kind. And I totally enjoyed it. Guys, I love you guys from the bottom of my heart. This has been Matt Miller with his new song, Descent into Violence. Pick up the new album on September 12, Fiber Tormentum.” – Omar Rodriguez – The Metal Mixtape – YouTube Channel

“The songs on “Fiber Tormentum” are rather good, and make for very interesting listening sessions.” – Metal Temple

“”Fiber Tormentum” is a real killer and so refreshingly creative that you can’t help but toast this previously unknown genius in awe! Cheers! 9/10″ – PowerMetal.de

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, emotive, and relentless, are words that strongly describe Decrepit Shed. The album has a lot to offer from various metal sub-genres and encompasses the best elements of technical guitar playing while still having well-written songs”. – Brave Words

“Monument of Velocity” initially had a different title and was not going to be a Matt Miller release and some of the songs were written with vocals in mind and were not going to be instrumental, however, it turned out to be the sixth of seven powerful albums in his discography. contains eight tracks full of technical and progressive metal eliciting feelings of suspense, and tension while being fun, melodic and brutally heavy. Miller’s melodic and relentless music has a wide range of influences and is recommended for fans of Jeff Loomis, Necrophagist, and Obscura.” – Rock’n’ Load

“Even though Miller’s music is instrumental, he likes to think of the guitar as a voice. Which in turn makes him ask what is the guitar saying? He is able to easily convey emotion, tone, and a story even without the use of vocals. Throughout his releases, his music has developed a more modern sound in both the music and the production. Musically the songs are more well written and a lot of the ideas he writes are being accurately represented. He is always trying to push himself as a musician and this is reflected in his discography. Influenced primarily by technical and progressive death metal with a dash of power metal and symphonic metal as well, Matt Miller’s music is recommended for fans of Obscura, Dragon Force, and Racer X” – Metal Sucks

“Mr. Miller can shred like his fingers are on fire” – Ever-Metal.com

“Matt shreds all over this album with guitar solos galore”. – Transcending the Mundane

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, and emotive, Miller conveys a wide range of tones throughout his instrumental music. It is recommended for fans of Dragon Force, Racer X, and Jeff Loomis” – Metal-Rules

“For guitar enthusiasts, I guess it is a feast for the eyes and ears.” – Antichrist Magazine

+ Michigan Metal Fest + “In the Wake of Flame Tour” (FL/GA/TN/SC/NC) w/ IATT

Debut Album “Rubidium” Out Aug 2025 via Exitus Stratagem Records

The wait is over. Blackened death metal collective Visitant unleashes their highly anticipated debut album “Rubidium” via Exitus Stratagem Records, delivering seven tracks of ritualistic, unrelenting music that weaves ethereal elements into haunting soundscapes. The album represents what the band calls ‘shadow work’, a visceral exploration of the bleakest parts of being human.

“Rubidium” showcases the full collaborative power of Visitant‘s seasoned lineup across 32 minutes of immersive music. Taylor Tidwell (Unaligned) serves as the primary architect of the band’s crushing riffs, while Anthony Lusk-Simone’s (Abiotic, Lattermath) orchestral passages and thunderous drumming build the cinematic worlds that define each composition. Kilian Duarte’s (Abiotic, Scale the Summit) monstrous bass work drives the album’s forward momentum, even contributing a guitar solo on “Envies Lament”. Chelsea Marrow’s (Voraath, Video Games: DOOM ETERNAL, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II) commanding vocals tie everything together, transforming personal experiences into ghost stories that channel the essence of restless, vengeful spirits. Thomas Weidick, on guitar, recently joined their live lineup this past June.

The album explores themes of grief, loss, betrayal, vengeance, time lost, and regret through seven carefully constructed tracks that showcase Visitant‘s ability to transcend genre boundaries.

The band shares their thoughts on the record:

Tony: “Imagine Dimmu and UADA being smashed together like action figures during recess.”

Kilian: “This record, I think, threads the needle, blending a lot of different genres. But yes, imagine a bunch of metal bands as action figures in the best Super Smash bros type of way.”

Taylor: “While the genre-bending is ever-present, the release as a whole works cohesively, every part making up a piece of the puzzle.”

Chelsea: “I really do think it’s genre-bending as well. I didn’t actively approach it with that in mind, but I went for what I felt each part needed or made me feel. It was a freeing experience. I was hoping we could create something that was impactful. I think we did that. After you listen to the album from beginning to end, you feel like you were just on the biggest journey. It evokes all sorts of feels. Like damn.. I feel like I was audibly hit by a big ol’ bus. In a good way… if there was a good way!”

The album was produced and mixed by Anthony Lusk-Simone and mastered by Jason Fisher, with striking artwork created by Chelsea Marrow in collaboration with Maxwell Aston for layout and logo design. Every element of “Rubidium” has been crafted to create what the band describes as ‘epic, moving, bleak, beautiful, and uncompromising’ music.

For fans of Gojira, Opeth, Naglfar, and Between the Buried and Me, ‘Rubidium’ offers a visceral experience that promises to resonate for years to come. Visitant celebrates the album release with their live debut at Michigan Metal Fest, bringing their haunting world to audiences with an intense live experience that matches the cinematic scope of their recorded work.

“Visitant is here to utterly wreck your morning thanks to their brand new single “Fodder”, the first offering from their upcoming album Rubidium due out on August 23 via Exitus Stratagem Records. Visitant is vocalist Chelsea Marrow (Voraath, The Monster Factory, Doom Eternal, Hellblade 2, etc.), guitarist Taylor Tidwell, drummer Anthony Lusk-Simone (Abiotic, Lattermath & ex-Pathogenic), and bassist Kilian Duarte (Abiotic, Lattermath, Felix Martin & Scale The Summit). So a real powerhouse of a band that brings some savage energy to the metal world.” – Metal Injection

“Visitant introduce the song (Starless) with subdued classical strings and rippling piano keys which together create a sorrowful but entrancing mood. The gentle nature of that overture makes the sudden crash that follows it even more startling — a sudden attack of slashing and sizzling fretwork, gargantuan bass-moans, neck-cracking beats, savage roars, and scorching screams. The song continues to bring in classically influenced piano melodies coupled with vividly dancing guitars, creating an almost diabolical kind of elegance, but the song also ignites a blackened firestorm of blasting drums, delirious fretwork, and sweeping symphonics. The notes vibrantly dart and blaze as the rhythm section thunder, and the music both elevates to heights of daunting, haughty grandeur and sweeps like wildfire. The torrid and tormented vocals seem to hold nothing back, howling and screaming out on the bleeding edge of intensity, and as if the song couldn’t get any more extravagant, the band make room for a head-spinning guitar solo at the end, in the midst of lots of other equally head-spinning fretwork and rhythm-section spectacles.” – No Clean Singing

““Fodder“, presents different warps and wefts in its weave. Also presented through a video (this time we get to see the band perform), it was inspired by a very dark dream in which Chelsea attempted to bring a murdered friend back to life and lost her own life in the process, leaving the friend trapped in a hellish limbo, bound to a body over which their control had been lost to dark spirits. To be sure, this song is also musically extravagant. It features a lot of borderline deranged and technically demanding high-speed maneuvers (a tour de force that would make lots of tech-death bands jealous) but it’s also hallucinatory, and unhinged in many other respects. It further demonstrates that Chelsea Marrow can really sing, as well as howl like a wolf and scream like a goblin. It’s a highly theatrical experience, but also instrumentally kaleidoscopic and viscerally frightening, and the singing makes the song stand out as much as every other demented and dazzling aspect of it.” – No Clean Singing

“Emerging from the shadowy fringes of the metal scene, blackened death metal outfit Visitant has unleashed their riveting debut single, “Fodder.” Released as a precursor to their eagerly anticipated first full-length album, “Rubidium,” the track invites listeners into a deeply atmospheric yet punishing sonic landscape.” – See Rock Live Magazine

“Uniting seasoned musicians from the Extreme Metal underground scene with members known for their previous works in Abiotic, Scale the Summit, Unaligned and Voraath, Blackened Death Metal quartet Visitant have spent the better part of three years crafting a debut album. The promise is of something dark, beautiful, visceral and compelling with single “Fodder” an almost ritualistic journey that weaves ethereal elements into an unrelentingly aggressive soundscape. Turning personal experiences into ghost stories for the half an hour of power that is “Rubidium” caught the attention of Exitus Stratagem Records who will distribute the affair on 29th August.” – Metal Noise

Exitus Stratagem Records announces their signing of Hungarian extreme metal masters SIN OF GOD for their fourth studio album “Blood Bound” out February 2025. Following their album “Aenigmata” released in 2016, “Blood Bound” has come a long way from its writing inception in 2019, and unfortunate setbacks with lineup changes and COVID to finally make its way to the studio in 2022/23 with the mixing and mastering done by the super-talented Sam Winslow in 2024.

With influences in thrash, ODM, and blackened and progressive death metal, Sin of God‘s next sacrificial offering will please both old and new-school death metal fans at the same time. This new full-length presents a collection of variations that exhibit brutality and softness. It is something fans have heard in the past from the band but it has never sounded like this.

“We all think fans will love it. It’s somewhat different from its predecessors. It’s more complex and based on modern death metal. We built Blood Bound musically on contrasts. There are amazingly fast parts (260 BPM,) but really slow parts as well.” adds guitarist Tamás Kis.

Exploring our present society, “Blood Bound” resonates with everything surrounding us, from the good and the bad to the beautiful and ugly, to life and death.

“We are in decline and we haven’t got much time before we hit the bottom. There is less and less beauty in our present world. We are rapidly marching towards the rotting chaos. People do nothing about it. They destroy but do not build. So let it be! As you look at our album artwork, it is metaphorically based on humanity’s current state in the light of human history. We wanted it to be realized in the style of Renaissance paintings therefore the contrast is extremely sharp between beauty and uglyness. Pure and evil. Perfect and deformed. There are also religious references, and Biblical characters, too.” says Kis.

“Blood Bound” is not a concept album, but it is united by the pain and rage that boils inside and felt over seven tracks that are simple and raw, yet ferocious and gentle. To give fans their first experience with the album, Sin of God is unveiling the first single “No Return” accompanied by an animated video. The song is about a person who cannot get rid of drugs and sacrifices everything is going to hell.

The band comments:

“No Return is our favorite song on Blood Bound. It is the essence of what we want to express musically and lyrically as well. The fall of our present society. That’s what it’s all about. Our vocalist Tamás Schupkégel wrote the lyrics. On first hearing it is about a drug addict descending into madness, falling into his very own hell which he created from the many pains he experienced and committed towards others during his life. We consume, we devour, we destroy. We create non-existent problems for ourselves while not dealing with the real ones. It’s so comfortable. Sticking our heads in the sand. Only our comfort is important. We are addicted to our ego. While the trees and waters disappear and only the sand remains. The emptiness. The loneliness. The pain. We build our hell. And there is no return!”

“The record is just killer, full of menacing death metal that doesn’t lean too hard into the old- or new-school sound; think a crossbreed of Book of Black Earth, Deicide, and Fleshgod Apocalypse sans opera, and you’ll have some idea of what these guys are like. Modern death metal fans will love the band’s technicality and production, while classic headbangers will dig their atmosphere and badass riffs. Definitely get into them.” – Metalsucks (Aenigmata – 2016)

“Aenigmata is the band’s latest release, a merciless, destructive Death Metal album in its finest form. Inspired by the occult writings of Alchemy and the dissection of the faith in mankind, the album delivers much darkened and more ferocious sounds than the previous releases. Having a close kinship with bands like Morbid Angel, Immolation, Nile, Behemoth, Krisiun, Dead Congregation and the likes in terms of sonority, the opus is a perfect blending of unilluminated Traditional Death Metal & remorseless Brutal/Technical Death Metal. The 09 tracked album is likely to be embraced by the fans of OSDM & Dark Themed Technical Death Metal.” – Extreminal (Aenigmata – 2016)

“The Hungarians from Sinf Of God play high-energy death metal, and when their riffs hit our eardrums, you get the impression that Attila himself is leading the wild hordes, leaving behind fields of destruction strewn with the corpses of enemies.” – KVLT (Aenigmata – 2016)

“There’s very little to complain about “Aenigmata”, it sounds damn good, both from a musical and production perspective. The songs are varied and technical and it took a few spins for the record to settle but that normally is a good thing as it grows for each spin… it’s a solid Death Metal record and with this, I should go easily to it when digging out Brutal music.” – Metal Kaoz – (Aenigmata – 2016)

Israel’s Sinnery is about to burn up the thrash metal scene with their new EP “Below the Summit”. It picks up where 2022’s “Black Bile” left off, continuing their self-actualization journey through searing guitar work, pummeling basslines, and vocals that cut through like a razor. “Below the Summit” is a very fast-paced piece of music where a lot is happening all at once. It’s a journey further into the minds of Sinnery, the music and lyrics are a barrage of exactly what they feel in the most authentic and exaggerated way pummeling the listener with a wall of intensity. It is a very human experience that has been etched into this recording, detailing the strange times we are currently living through. The band comments:

“We are thrilled to get our new EP “Below the Summit” out to listeners! This record marks another important milestone in our lives and careers as we continue to explore further and expand the horizons of what Sinnery’s music can be. BTS is a moment in time when we didn’t know exactly how things would turn out for us, we were isolated in our homes when we began writing this, sharing ideas from afar. It was a special experience for us to write this record like this and we feel like we really put that into it.”

In this EP, Sinnery introduces new drummer Liam Fine who has written and recorded on the EP all while learning the band’s older material. In just four months Liam learned 19 songs and wrote four more. Doing so much all at once is probably the most “Sinnery” thing that could have happened to anyone joining in.

“Below the Summit” was mixed and mastered by Arie Aranovich and the album artwork was done by Xul1349 and inspired by a famous Japanese painting called “Thunderstorm Beneath The Summit” by legendary artist Katsushika Hokusai. The EP is recommended for fans of Sylosis, Metallica, and Power Trip.

“If you didn’t get around to giving this quartet from Tel Aviv a whirl, here’s another chance. The band, like many others, were graced with a period of pandemic-enforced downtime which allowed for an introspective and pointed look at themselves and their art. The result is the forthcoming EP, Below the Summit from which we’re premiering the band’s latest single and video, “An Ode (Knife of Erato),” a song that definitely upholds, if not elevates, their previous work’s vicious precision.” – Decibel Magazine

“I’ve said this many times in the past, but one of the many things I love about this business is following the progress of bands as they come of age, mature and get better at their craft. What’s not to love about paying early witness to a bunch of folks gelling and heading on an upward trajectory as they make the move towards proverbial world domination? Israeli thrashers Sinnery are one such band. Gathering their Exodus, Testament, Gojira, The Haunted and post-St. Anger Metallica influences, the quartet from Herzliya, Tel Aviv will soon be releasing their second full length, Black Bile via Exitus Stratagem Records. This new tasty little rager pops the clutch and pumps the gas on modern thrash with a grizzled edge that improves upon the roots planted with their 2016 debut A Feast of Fools and their 2013 demo, Showing Teeth.” – Decibel Magazine

“Sinnery [Israel] Proves Thrash is NOT Dead in Groove-Oozing Cesspit of ‘Black Bile’” – Metal Has No Borders

““Death thrash” is the simplified genre description for what Sinnery do, but it’s the strong melodies and the variations among and within the songs that make the album such an adventure to experience from start to finish. Compared to the debut all those years ago, which was entirely written by vocalist/guitarist Alon Karnieli back when he was about 16-17 years of age, these tracks are more elaborate, more sophisticated, more reflective of different moods, while at the same time being more brutally extreme.” – No Clean Singing

“You just gotta love a band that knows exactly what the hell they wanna be. Sinnery bow to no one, instead turning heel to scissor kick you in the temple with battering ram riffs, suplexing drums, and neck-twisting vocals. You know the opening of Back to the Future where Marty McFly plays a single guitar chord on Doc Brown’s hyper amplifier and goes flying across the room from the resulting sound? “The Burning” provides the same effect regardless of the size of your chosen sound output device – you will be ragdolled and tossed around like a frisbee in a college quad by the quartet’s supreme rippage.” – Everything Is Noise

“I am old enough to have seen the likes of Metallica, Anthrax and others perform live at small venues in London. I’m also a huge fan of the new wave of thrash like Dust Bolt, Lost Society, etc. Sinnery is welcome inclusion with their aggression, energy, and obvious hunger. They might verge on Death Metal a tad with the vocals but that’s ok. With Matt Hyde (Machine Head, Trivium, Slipknot) having mixed and mastered this beast you know the sounds are gonna be right in your face. An excellent sophomore effort – please just keep thrashing!” – My Global Mind

“Sinnery straddle those lines between conventional thrash and modern/groove metal with enough solid musicianship and heaviness to align well with a multitude of touring possibilities.” – Dead Rhetoric

“For those that just want to bang heads and go nuts, there are songs like “The Burning,” “Who Will Be Eaten First,” and “Anti Tribe.” “Hanged From The Sun” and “Holes” flesh out their thrash by either toning down the speed or putting an emphasis on melody.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

Originally unleashed in September 2019 on Curtain Call Records, Raleigh, NC’s Aittala will be re-releasing their fifth album via Exitus Stratagem Records, who also recently released the band’s follow-up and sixth full-length “Live To Regret” this past November.

Led by vocalist and guitarist, Eric Aittala, with bassist Ali Lugo and drummer Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith, “False Pretenses” features the trio’s unique stamp of infused classic rock licks, thrash, doom, and sludge along with progressive layers and hard rock grooves.

“When we offered up this album, I still believe it is one of the best Aittala recordings we have done,” Eric Aittala states. “Of course, all bands make that claim when their new album is released, but I still really mean it. If nothing else, it is one of the best-sounding Aittala albums. When we wrote it, we used an entirely different approach for recording, mixing, and mastering. Even with its re-release, I’m still really excited for people who have still not heard it yet.”

Rounding out the album’s track listing is “Different Day”, “Disowned”, “Infamy”, “How Much Longer”, “Nemesis”, “Afterthought”, “They Live”, “Funeral Procession” and “Debt”. Eric notes, “The album’s title comes from the idea that the songs have an underlying theme of misrepresentation”.

Drummer Gary Smith believes those who have not listened to the album, are in for a treat.

“When we made this album, we really stepped it up and I truly believe it is a record for a much larger audience than the previous four we released. There’s something for everyone on it that’s a fan of good metal.”

Recommended for fans of Baroness, Crowbar, and Katatonia, the re-release of “False Pretenses” is due out on February 28th via Exitus Stratagem Records and can be pre-saved at https://hypeddit.com/aittala/falsepretenses.

About: The music of AITTALA (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre.

The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric Aittala was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene.

With the release of the 3-song EP ‘Selling Heaven’ in the summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST. Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA.

Over the next decade or so, Eric played in numerous bands (TRIBE, MAGNETHEAD, DWELL) and lost focus on AITTALA.

Near the end of the 00s, Eric decided it was time to refocus his efforts on the AITTALA brand. From 2009 to 2016, AITTALA released 4 full-length albums: ‘Bed of Thorns’ (2009), ‘Haunt Your Flesh’ (2011), ‘Effigy’ (2014), and ‘American Nightmare’ (2016). Each album showcases a natural progression of songwriting and lyrical content but retains the core AITTALA sound and evolves it.

In 2019, AITTALA signed with Curtain Call Records and released the band’s fifth full-length album ‘False Pretenses’. It was ten brand new songs that not only continued the songwriting evolution of heavier but catchy songs but also sonically. AITTALA used an entirely different approach for recording, mixing, and mastering to create the best AITTALA album to date.

The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass.

They continue to write, record, and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses, recently unleashing their sixth studio album entitled “Live To Regret” via label Exitus Stratagem Records on November 7, 2022, and the re-release of their 2019 album “false Pretenses” out on February 28, 2023, also through Exitus Stratagem Records.

“Their new album, “False Pretenses”, leans heavy on the Doom and Goth side of their listed influences but makes some interesting style choices within the genre.” – Metal Temple (False Pretenses)

“In my opinion, this is by far their best effort. Highlight tracks for me are: “Different Day”, “Black Coffin” and “Debt”. In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – That Metal Channel (False Pretenses)

“The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters (False Pretenses)

“Aittala Offer Powerful Pandemic Post-Mortem on ‘Live to Regret’… Stick it on a playlist with Apostle of Solitude, Crowbar, Famyne, and Paradise Lost, with a dash of Slayer for good measure.” – Doomed and Stoned

“One of the best albums for 2022” (Live to Regret) – 666MrDoom YouYube Channel

“This platter is heavy melodic ear candy that drips with deep and mesmeric face-melting tones and grinding rhythms.” (Live to Regret) – The Metal Gods Meltdown
