FLAMESTRIKE Unleashes New Single “Unholy March”

Debut Album “The Unholy March” Out January 29th, 2027 via Rockshots Records

Italian epic power metal band FLAMESTRIKE is ready to march into a new chapter with “Unholy March”, the first single from their forthcoming debut album “The Unholy March”, set for release on January 29th, 2027 via Rockshots Records.

The song throws the listener straight into a dark tale of death, betrayal, and vengeance. “Unholy March” follows a fallen commander who, after making an unholy pact, returns from beyond the grave at the head of an army of the dead. Determined to reclaim his sovereign’s throne by force, his march ultimately brings destruction upon the kingdom and ushers in a new age of darkness.

Musically, the track introduces the core identity of FLAMESTRIKE, combining the epic and heroic character of classic power metal with the heavier influences that have shaped the band’s sound.

The band comments:

“We wrote the kind of epic, powerful, and engaging music that we ourselves would want to hear. Throughout the album you’ll find fantasy worlds, fearless heroes, evil entities, and endless battles, all shaped by the different musical backgrounds that make us who we are as a band.”

Rooted in the European power and epic metal tradition while drawing inspiration from heavier, symphonic, and extreme sounds, FLAMESTRIKE forges a style built around powerful riffs, heroic melodies, and fantasy-driven atmospheres.

Their forthcoming debut album “The Unholy March” is not conceived as a single concept story, but its songs share recurring themes of battle, revenge, triumph, and the inevitability of fate. The stories do not always unfold from the perspective of the traditional hero, leaving room for darker characters, defeat, and morally ambiguous outcomes.

The band adds:

“We want this album to be an immersive listening experience, something capable of transporting the listener directly onto the battlefield or inside the walls of a medieval tavern. Every track remains deeply connected to our epic and symphonic trademark.”

Formed in Vercelli, Italy, in 2008, FLAMESTRIKE initially came together through a shared passion for power and epic metal. After starting out performing songs by some of the genre’s defining bands, the musicians gradually began replacing covers with their own material.

Their first self-produced EP, “Dark Clouds On The Obsidian Tower”, arrived in 2021. Following several line-up changes, FLAMESTRIKE returned in 2024 with the singles “Where Glory Awaits” and “The Death Scythe Has Come”, both included on the forthcoming album.

For fans of: Blind Guardian, Manowar, Ensiferum

In 2026, the band signed with Rockshots Records, setting the stage for the release of their first full-length.

BIOGRAPHY:

Formed in Vercelli, Italy, in 2008, Flamestrike grew out of a shared passion for the epic and power metal scene. Their roots can be traced back to the previous year when a group of university students and recent graduates came together to play songs by some of their favourite bands, including Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Manowar, Virgin Steele and Edguy.

That early incarnation lasted only a few months, but it brought together bassist Marco Caputo and drummer Marco Canella, who would go on to become the founding members of Flamestrike. After recruiting a new line-up, the two officially formed the band in April 2008. The name itself reflected another passion they shared at the time: fantasy literature. While going through a seemingly endless list of characters from their favourite fantasy sagas, they eventually settled on Flamestrike, the name of a dragon from Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman’s Dragonlance Chronicles.

Initially, the band returned to the stage with a set built around power and epic metal covers, playing venues and events throughout the local area. It was not long, however, before original music began to take over. Between 2009 and 2010, Flamestrike started writing their first songs, firmly rooted in the same epic and power metal tradition that had inspired the band from the beginning.

By the end of 2010, Flamestrike had built up a substantial body of original material, but the departure of three of the five members brought the band’s progress to an abrupt halt. Caputo and Canella remained, and after a brief period of uncertainty, the line-up began to take shape again in early 2011 with the arrival of guitarists Emmanuele Iacono and Alessio Marchetto. At the same time, Caputo expanded his role, taking over lead vocals while continuing to play bass.

This four-piece line-up gave Flamestrike the momentum to move forward, both on stage and as songwriters. In 2012, keyboardist Fabio Sguazzotti joined the band, restoring the line-up to five members and remaining with Flamestrike until 2015.

Another important transition came that same year when Caputo decided to step away from bass and devote himself entirely to vocals. Riccardo Rondolotto subsequently joined as the band’s new bassist, beginning four years of rehearsals, live performances and continued songwriting. In 2019, both Marchetto and Rondolotto eventually left Flamestrike to pursue other musical paths.

Reduced to a three-piece, Caputo, Canella and guitarist Emmanuele Iacono used this transitional period to begin recording the original material that would eventually become the band’s first EP. By mid-2019, Flamestrike had once again completed their line-up with the addition of Fabrizio Amapane on second guitar and Ivan Bovio on bass.

The following two years brought an entirely different challenge. Although the band remained stable and united throughout 2020 and 2021, the disruption caused by the pandemic inevitably slowed down their activities. After almost two years of work, delays and interruptions, October 2021 finally saw the digital release of “Dark Clouds On The Obsidian Tower“, Flamestrike‘s first EP of original material. Featuring five tracks, the release marked the band’s first major step from years of songwriting and live activity towards a fully realised recording project.

In 2022, another chapter in Flamestrike‘s history came to a close when founding drummer Marco Canella left the band for personal reasons after fourteen years. He was succeeded by Luca Traversa, formerly of Alltheniko and a longtime friend of the band. With Traversa behind the kit, Flamestrike began shaping the material that would form their debut full-length album.

The first glimpse of this new chapter arrived in 2024 with two singles: “Where Glory Awaits“, released in March, followed by “The Death Scythe Has Come” in December.

A further line-up change followed in 2025, when Ivan Bovio parted ways with Flamestrike by mutual agreement. His departure opened the door for the return of Alessio Marchetto, who rejoined the band five years after leaving it. This time, however, he returned in a new role, taking over bass duties and bringing a familiar face back into the Flamestrike ranks.

In 2026, Flamestrike reached a new milestone by signing with Italian label Rockshots Records, setting the stage for the release of their debut full-length album in early 2027.

Out Now! Icelandic Sorcerous Folk Metal HRAFNABLÓT Debut Album “Guðlaugar Saga”

Icelandic sorcerous folk‑metal band Hrafnablót proudly announces the release of their debut full‑length album, “Guðlaugar Saga,” available everywhere today, September 11, 2026. The album marks a major milestone for one of Iceland’s most compelling new metal acts, an ensemble known for ritualistic live performances, dramatic storytelling, and a sound forged from the contrasting light and darkness of Icelandic magick.

Formed in late 2024, Hrafnablót has quickly become a rising force in Iceland’s metal scene, performing at Íslenski rokkbarinn, Lemmy, BIRD, and the Icelandic Sorcery Festival. Their music blends heavy riffs, folk instrumentation, haunting melodies, and both clean and harsh vocals, creating what the band calls their own brand of sorcerous folk metal.

Giving listeners a sweeping sonic journey inspired by Icelandic nature and folklore, Hrafnablót’s debut concept album “Guðlaugar Saga” follows Guðlaug, a modern‑day woman pulled back into Iceland’s settlement age with nothing but her clothes and a taser. Across seven full songs and two spoken‑word pieces, the album traces her vivid, time‑bending saga, from Spádómurinn, a seer’s whispered prophecy over Icelandic winds, into “Dísablót,” where a driving ritual‑bound riff launches her story. “Heljarhlíð” delivers melodic death‑metal intensity and dual vocals as she’s forced into battle, while “Fögnuður” bursts into a celebratory folk‑metal anthem. Darkness rises in “Nornarheimt,” the album’s harshest track, as brigands kidnap her, followed by “Svartigaldur,” a metallized sea‑shanty built on an old Icelandic folk melody. “Heimþrá” offers a melodic, keyboard‑led moment of homesickness and dark magick, before the saga reaches its climax in “Örlagavegur,” an 11‑minute epic of shifting meters and fate as Guðlaug confronts her final choice.

“When writing the album, we knew right away we wanted to create a strong and cohesive narrative and to feature the stark contrasts present in Icelandic folklore and Sagas. The album features seven songs, along with a spoken word interlude and intro, weaving together influences from Icelandic magick, history, and culture. The sound can most aptly be described as sorcerous folk metal, drawing influence from the contrasting darkness and light of Icelandic folk culture as well as sonic influences from Nordic folk metal, NWOBHM, various gothic and miscellaneous extreme metal genres,” adds the band.

Recommended for fans of Ensiferum, Nightwish, Wintersun, Skálmöld, and Eluveitie, “Guðlaugar Saga” is now available on all digital platforms, CD, and Vinyl.

“A band from Iceland may have delivered the best Folk Metal of the year. Hrafnablot is not afraid to do things on an album that other artist would not dare to do. This is an exceptional album that catch your attention from start to finish. I rate this album the perfect 10.” – Project Metal Music

“Guðlaugar Saga is a debut with great ambition. Hrafnablót take Icelandic folklore, Sagas and magic and transport them into a modern Folk Metal framework, adding NWOBHM, Gothic, Melodic Death and Extreme Metal elements. But the real power lies elsewhere. In the story. In the contrast. In the fact that a woman from modern Reykjavík suddenly finds herself in a world where she shouldn’t exist. And instead of just waiting to be saved…she learns to survive. Guðlaugar Saga has everything a good concept album needs: a world, a hero, a conflict, a mythology and a road of no return. And if the first singles are any indication of what’s to come, Hrafnablót have created a debut that could put their name on the map of modern Nordic Folk Metal. The Sagas were never finished. They were just waiting for the next voice to tell them. And this time…the voice comes from Reykjavík.” – Rock N Roll Town

“The idea of combining retro-heavy, proto-doom and then classic Viking metal with the Icelandic language is nothing short of brilliant – and honestly – incredibly obvious. Hrafnablót has definitely got something going and is a name to keep an eye on, because they could very well become something big.9/10” – HeavyMetal.dk

“What makes “Guðlaugar Saga” work is its refusal to treat folk metal’s contrasts both brutal and beautiful, cold and warm as gimmicks, instead using them as narrative tools that build toward something. For listeners already invested in the genre’s melodic, story-driven corner, this is a record built for a full, uninterrupted listen.” – Female Fronted Power

“Iceland’s Hrafnablót and debut single ‘Svartigaldur’ a heavy piece of pagan folk metal; for the tale of a time traveller lashed to Viking mast accused of being a witch. With symphonic metal richness, black metal energy, traditional melodies, theatrical vocal harmonies and soaring, clean female vocals, it’s quite a ride!” – Loud Enough Magazine

Canadian folk black metal band Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual) recently unleashed their second album “Heathenheart” via CDN Records on July 23rd. The 13 track album has something for everyone, from the chilling black metal “Cold Beauty of Winter” to the mid-tempo headbanger “Dark Moon in Capricorn” to the instrumental ”A Forest of Dead Trees” to the acoustic “We Raise a Horn”. This variance makes Hexenklad shine, their versatility is a true display of their talent and passion.

Hexenklad has a very distinct chemistry, which is only amplified by years of experience in music. Almost everyone in the band comes from another band in the Ontario metal scene including Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual, Battlesoul and Of Hatred Spawn. The album also features several local guests including Emmanuel “Audeath” Audet (Black Empire/Winterfog); Nick Sauter (Treats for Addicts) and Alex Chalmers.

“This album was written very differently than the first album, which was mostly written by Hexenklad’s founder Michael Grund. It was very organic and the songs just grew together. Guitar parts were written first by both Michael and John with a few ideas put in by myself. Then drums were added by Andrew. Once those were all down and arranged, and then rearranged until everything flowed and made sense, then I let the melodies tell me what the songs were about and wrote the lyrics. Once we had the guitars, drums and vocal parts recorded, then the keyboards and bass were added.” adds the band.

Today, Hexenklad guitarist John Chalmers shares his playthrough for the album’s track via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

Chalmers adds:

“Heathenheart is a folk metal anthem.  As soon as it started to come together, we knew this had to be the single we released first. It is just so memorable and so poignant and relevant to the times we are all going through.  It is a song about being alone, yet all connected.  All Lone Wolves yet all part of a larger pack. About protecting and raising each other up. The song feels like its message. It is uplifting, powerful, memorable, anthemic.”

Those who enjoy both folk and black metal, who are looking for something unique and have an open mind, will find much in this album, especially those interested in Insomnium, Windir and Moonsorrow.

“Heathenheart” is the second album from Canada’s Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual), and it shows a notable evolution over 2017’s “Spirit of the Stone”. This is primarily due to an almost complete lineup change wherein all the members had an active part in composing the music. Vocalist Timothy Johnston explains further:

“This album was written very differently than the first album which was mostly written by Hexenklad’s founder Michael Grund. Once we had the guitars, drums and vocal parts recorded, then the keyboards and bass were added.”

Johnston continues to explain that it was not difficult to pick the tracks that would be used as they were the ones that spoke to them immediately. Often, they would go through many alterations before being used, but they never abandoned a song that spoke to us.

The 13 track album has something for everyone, from the chilling, black metal “Cold Beauty of Winter”, to the mid-tempo headbanger “Dark Moon in Capricorn”, to the instrumental ”A Forest of Dead Trees” to the acoustic “We Raise a Horn”. This variance makes Hexenklad shine, their versatility is a true display of their talent and passion.

Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual) has a new album “Heathenheart” coming out, one that will surely tantalize the ears of any metalhead who enjoys both harsh, raw black metal and the uplifting, catchy aspects of folk metal.

The next single off this record is about the ravens of Odin “Huginn and Muninn”, which the band is premiering its lyric video today via Metal-Rules HERE.

Vocalist Timothy Voldemars Johnston explains the track further:

“It’s got a good pace and rawness, yet the choruses bring it back to the Folk side. The lyrics are mostly written in Kenning and are about Odin’s ravens, about what they are, what they represent and why that matters. When I first heard the melodies, it made me think of flying over the world and looking down and seeing how everything was made small and how to the one looking down, everyone below would suddenly look like one folk, one people and that in order to be recognized in the mass’s, one’s deeds must indeed be great and worthy and like a beacon in the dark. There’s also a theme of what it would be like to lose one of the integral components of yourself that seeks out new experiences and knowledge and wisdom.”

The lyrical content on the album is varied, some of it is about the old gods in the old world and some of it plays into Johnston’s heathen beliefs. Regardless of the subject matter, the music itself is interesting and intense and flows well. Anyone who appreciates both folk and black metal and even just melodic metal will find something compelling in these songs.

“Hexenklad” will surely surprise a lot of people, especially those already familiar with the band. For such an intense album it is also a very uplifting, meaningful record and that is a rare thing and much needed right now. According to the band, one of the beautiful things about having so many members is that they never go through a drought of ideas; songs can start as one person’s idea and by the end, they become a mix of everyone’s. They have lots more music brewing in our minds for the future. Easily enough for another album.

Hexenklad is recommended for fans of Ensiferum, Insomnium and Windir.

“Heathenheart” will be released on July 23, 2021 via CDN Records.

As true heathens, folk/black metal act Hexenklad(ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual) summon interconnected energies in their new music video for the first single and title track off their upcoming album “Heathenheart”, which can be viewed via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

Releasing around the summer solstice, the time of year that draws people together to celebrate the longest day of the year, the band brings a message that you are not alone, which is also fitting with the global crisis of the past year. The band explains the track further:

“’Heathenheart’ is a folk metal anthem.

According to the band, they didn’t go into the writing process for this album with any intention to create a specific sonic experience. It is more an amalgamation of all the varied influences of its members and they didn’t want to constrain where the music took them. Each song on the album has a different meaning, a different feel, a different purpose. Each song should elicit a different response from the listener and make them think. The common thread that binds all these songs together is that they are all intense musically, even the slower songs, and feature heathen lyrics, most of which are very uplifting in meaning, even the darkest of them.

As a whole “Heathenheart” is an intense black metal-influenced folk metal album full of heathen anthems to raise a horn to. The heathen’s heart is full of chaos, creation through destruction, Hagalaz, and this is a journey into it.

“Heathenheart” is recommended for fans of Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, and Insomnium and will be released on July 23, 2021 via CDN Records.

Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual) comes from the depths of the Canadian forest, wielding a new album “Heathenheart” to be released on CDN Records on July 23rd that is sure to intrigue fans of melodic death and folk metal. The title track will be the first single, and right now you can take a peek at the teaser trailer for the full length.

Album teaser – https://youtu.be/JSi6DHcCxfI

“Heathenheart” is following up 2017’s “Spirit of the Stone”, which was the first look into the black metal influenced folk band. Since that first release, Hexenklad has updated its lineup and the result is more intensity and rawness in the new music. They explain further in their own words:

“We are extremely proud of this new album “Heathenheart”. It is a perfect representation of all of our varied influences and personalities. From the coldness and rawness found in Black Metal to the uplifting and memorable melodies found in Folk Metal, to the hooks and choruses found in Heavy Metal, this album has everything. It’s heavy, it’s raw, it’s uplifting, it’s honest, it’s uncompromising, it’s unique and it’s varied. Every song is different and yet connected.”

For the creation of this album, Hexenklad emphasized their appreciation for Folk and Black Metal and wrote songs that meant something and garnered an immediate response from them. They work together collaboratively, each member adding their own flair to a song. “Heathenheart” was recorded at Shiver Sound Studios by John Chalmers; mixed at BWC Studios by Greg Dawson; mastered at West West Side Music by Alan Douches and the cover art is done by Darek Zawiązalec of Black Forest Forge.

Hexenklad is suitable for a wide range of headbangers, especially fans of Moonsorrow, Amon Amarth and Ensiferum.

“Heathenheart” will be released on July 23, 2021 via CDN Records.

Well known in their home country of Ecuador and South America for supporting bands like Judas Priest, Kreator, Firewind (Immortals Tour 2018), Edguy, UDO, and more. Heavy metal trio Black Sun unleashed their new EP “Silent Enemy” during September 2020 via Rockshots Records. During the production of Black Sun‘s new material, the band parted ways with their longtime lead singer. Guests include Finnish metal legends and talents like Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Lordi, Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone), Elias Viljanen (Sonata Arctica ), Netta Laurenne (Smackbound), Jukka Pelkonen (Omnium Gatherum), Asim Searah (Wintersun/Damnation Plan), Topias Kupiainen (Arion), Henning Basse (Firewind), Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum / Norther) and JF Aguirre (JF Aguirre Project). All come together to create a powerful and catchy metal hymn.

Today, Black Sun is ready to reveal their latest music video “Terror Zone”, which features guest vocals from Henning Basse (ex-Firewind, ex-Mayan, ex-Sons Of Seasons). The music video is an extract from their award-winning short film (total of 32 awards listed below from multiple film festivals), which can be found on the BluRay edition of “Silent Enemy”.

The EP was recorded at Hi NoiZ Studios and Sonic Pump Studios, mixed by Jens Bogren (tracks 2 and 3) and Nino Laurenne (tracks 1,4-7) and mastered by Svante Forsbäck.

0 Montreal’s Valfreya Sound The Warcall In New Video “Warlords” Off “Promised Land”

  • February 9, 2021

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 9, 2021

For fans of Wintersun, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Dimmu Borgir

Montreal’s Valfreya Sound The Warcall In New Video “Warlords” Off “Promised Land”

Back in 2017, Montreal, Quebec’s Valfreya released the critically acclaimed “Promised Land”, sending a rush of vicious folk metal around the world. Taking all the jolly melodies from the genre, but then making it faster and more aggressive, Valfreya has been weaving Norse mythology into a familiar, yet original tapestry since 2009.

Now, there is a new music video from the band, for the song “Warlords” off the 2017 release. The video channels all the energy that Valfreya brings to the stage, impactful growling, soaring clean vocals, imaginative solos, and of course, plenty of catchy verses to sing along to. The track “Warlords” is an excerpt from the tale that spans the entire concept album, the journey of Eric The Red. Valfreya goes into detail about the album:

“The album is a journey through a lot of emotions and situations, giving life to a host of varied songs, each with a different sound and personality. The story behind the album is about Eric The Red discovering America and how he defies the Gods, but pays a hefty price for that defiance. It’s a step-up in sound quality and has more intricate guitar parts and better-written music that with every listen you can discover parts you hadn’t noticed before. On top of that, we have an original sound and songs! We want to give more to people that enjoy good riffs!”

The world needs astonishing stories as an outlet for strong emotions now more than ever. In the shape of Montreal’s larger-than-life metal warriors Valfreya, it has them! And in their striking vocalist, it has its Valkyrie!

Valfreya is an orchestral folk metal that will entice listeners of Wintersun, Equilibrium, and Ensiferum.

Watch “Warlords” on YouTube: https://youtu.be/k-KFBRVD80A

“Promised Land” along with the rest of Valfreya’s discography is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, and all online major retailers.

The band is presently working on a new full-length, date of release to be determined.

About:

The world needs heroes now more than ever. In the shape of Montreal’s larger-than-life metal warriors Valfreya, it has them! And in their striking vocalist Crook, they have their own Valkyrie!.

In 2009, vocalist Crook wanted to play something akin to folk metal, but even more aggressive and fast-paced. Combining Valhalla and the Norse goddess Freya, the band has been creating music and lyrics to revolve around stories inspired by Norse mythology.

Orchestral and death metal with a hint of folk music, the prolific Valfreya has unleashed three well-received EPs (‘First Chronicles’, ‘Acoustic Chronicles’, ‘Acoustic Chronicles Part II’), an impressive 2012 debut album entitled ‘Path To Eternity’ via Maple Metal Records and their self-released second ‘Promised Land’ independently on January 13, 2017.

What you hear on the albums is what you get on stage.  They dress in a fantasy-like Viking fashion to go with their story-telling, which gives an interesting visual aspect while delivering the instrument-playing with precision. Since their inception, Valfreya has satisfied fans with their epic live experiences (200+ shows throughout Canada and the USA) where they have opened for bands like Arkona, Dark Tranquility, Nekrogoblikon, Necronomicon, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Insomnium and more!

Valfreya is presently working on their next full-length planned for either late 2021 or early 2022 release.
