Fantasy symphonic power metal band France’s Avaland is celebrating the release of their sophomore full-length “The Legend of the Storyteller” out now as of March 31st, 2023 via Rockshots Records with their new music video “To Be The King” featuring guest vocals from Pierre Carabalona (Eltharia) and guitar from Jens Ludwig (Edguy).

The band comments:

“We feel this is another great anthem track on the album and had the most sound in the roots of “Edguy traditions”, and it’s why we had to ask Jens Ludwig to make a solo on it. It’s such an honour to him a part of it as the band has been one of our influences in heavy metal. He did a great job!”

Compared to Avaland‘s debut album, the band’s next full-length “The Legend Of The Storyteller” is heavier and is a much more epic power metal record full of anthems upon anthems for fans to chant to as they are taken on a journey over twelve theatric tracks. The record also hears double vocal duties from Adrien G. Gzagg and Jeff Kanji along with album guests that include Zak Stevens (ex-Savatage/TSO), Madie (ex-Nightmare/Faith In Agony), Pierre “Cara” Carabalona (Eltharia), Ivan Castelli (Lionsoul), Angèle Macabiès, Jens Ludwig (Edguy) and Bruno Ramos (Sortilège/ex-Manigance).

Lead by Adrien G. Gzagg (Autor/Composer/Lead Singer/Synths and Orchestrations), the album’s storyline is a prequel to the band’s first album “Theater of Sorcery” as he explains further:

“This album, as the first one, is a journey, a trip out of our world, into the universe of Avaland. We enjoy seeing Avaland as a great saga, as a movie, or series. We feel like listening to Avaland is like watching Game Of Thrones, The Lord Of The Rings, or reading comics, it’s an escape from everyday life. For this album, we took a lot of inspiration from Game Of Thrones and Arthurian Myths. We love fantasy and mythologies and we also find ourselves having a great fascination for alchemy and esoterism. Time is also a great subject, it’s mystical… in fact, time will be at the center of this saga. This new opus is showing a heavier and darker atmosphere of Avaland’s theatrical universe. Today, Avaland shares their second single “Betrayers” featuring guest vocals from Madie (ex-Nightmare/Faith In Agony).

“BOOM!” That was my first reaction while listening for the first time to the final mix of “Betrayers”. This song is the more bombastic one of the album. This song is a real speed power metal one, with a tragic chorus, Jeff sings like a god on it, especially when the final comes, he shows all the spectrum of his incredible voice. It’s the first song for Avaland I built around the guitar parts instead of the keyboards, and I must admit my mates sublimated it so well!” says Adrien G. Gzagg (Autor/Composer/Lead Singer/Synths and Orchestrations).

Compared to its predecessor, “The Legend Of The Storyteller” is heavier and is a much more epic power metal record full of anthems upon anthems for fans to chant to as they are taken on a journey over twelve theatric tracks. The record also hears double vocal duties from Adrien G. Gzagg and Jeff Kanji along with album guests that include Zak Stevens (ex-Savatage/TSO), Madie (ex-Nightmare/Faith In Agony), Pierre “Cara” Carabalona (Eltharia), Ivan Castelli (Lionsoul), Angèle Macabiès, Jens Ludwig (Edguy) and Bruno Ramos (Sortilège/ex-Manigance).

Lead by Adrien G. Gzagg (Autor/Composer/Lead Singer/Synths and Orchestrations), the album’s storyline is aprequel to the band’s first album “Theater of Sorcery” as he explains further:

“This album, as the first one, is a journey, a trip out of our world, into the universe of Avaland. We enjoy seeing Avaland as a great saga, as a movie, or series. We feel like listening to Avaland is like watching Game Of Thrones, The Lord Of The Rings, or reading comics, it’s an escape from everyday life. For this album, we took a lot of inspiration from Game Of Thrones and Arthurian Myths. We love fantasy and mythologies and we also find ourselves having a great fascination for alchemy and esoterism. Time is also a great subject, it’s mystical… in fact, time will be at the center of this saga. This new opus is showing a heavier and darker atmosphere of Avaland’s theatrical universe. Avaland‘s first single in support of “The Legend Of The Storyteller” is entitled “Crimson Tyranny” (feat. Cara, Madie & Zak Stevens).

“This song is the first one I composed for this album. It defines the atmosphere for this new album: darker than “Theater Of Sorcery”, but also more epic, especially with its mighty chorus (with some Blind Guardian influences). It’s a mind-sticking song, beware of this infernal hook “Crimson! Tyranny!”. The title of the song is a tribute to “In the Court of the Crimson King” by King Crimson.” adds Adrien G. Gzagg.

Moscow heavy/power metallers Selenseas are sharing with fans their next single “The Mirror” from their forthcoming album “The Outer Limits” due out August 7th on Rockshots Records.

After a debut EP and the full-length “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” (2017) in their native language, the band formed in 2010 by bass player and composer Vladislav Tyushin have decided to re-record their songs for the international debut album “The Outer Limits”.

In 2019, Mikhail Kudrey, a talented vocalist, joined Selenseas as the new singer, his unique voice and charisma turned out to be a perfect addition to the band’s style, and recording sessions for the revamped international version of  “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” followed immediately.

The band decided to re-record almost all instruments for the album “The Outer Limits” and to ensure a more powerful and epic sound, several guest musicians were invited: Sergei Lazar (Arkona, Rossomahaar), Ivan Garin, Andrey Zodchiy (ex-Dis Pater), Alexey Verbitsky (Legenda) and Gamil Makhmutov (ex-Ethno-Sound).

Composer Vladislav Tyushin comments:

“This album is filled with powerful and epic sound, and each song has its own meaning, style, and mood. At the same time, all the songs are united by the same atmosphere and are part of the same universe. They are portals, pages of a book, doors which will take you to different worlds and lead you to discover something interesting. All you need is but a single step across the boundary!”

“The Outer Limits” contains elements of folk, progressive, doom, hard rock but is centered around the heavy/power metal genre and will be released worldwide on August 7, 2020.

Hailing from Calgary, AB, a new legion of power metal thrash has come forward to tell stories of mythology and legends with their debut album “Beyond The Depths” due out January 3rd, 2020. Produced by the band and mixed by Jesse Kopala (Incite Audio) plus mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, He Is Legend, Scale The Summit), SYRYN‘s “Beyond The Depths” is over 30 minutes of epic tales through twelve adventurous tracks.

Following their 2017 debut single, ‘Unbreakable’, SYRYN shares the powerful grandiose shredding lead single off the upcoming full length, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’. The track tells the story of an all-powerful Siren pulling out of her dungeon, the Pirates she has captured. Defeated, the Pirates are forced to kneel in surrender and with one swift swipe of a blade, they are deprived of existence and the seas are turned to red.

SYRYN was founded by vocalist Sloan Voxx after seeing Amanda Kiernan of Into Eternity perform at Calgary Metalfest IV in 2015. After that performance, Sloan was inspired to set off on creating a band that would be able to enchant, captivate and trigger emotion, with shredding power metal and the Mythological folklore of the Siren with an added twist. Setting out on her search to find members, the lineup you see today is solidified by Paulo Rage (Guitar), Byron Gorieu (Guitar), Lyxx Rose (Bass) and Bryan Campbell (Drums).

Since their inception in 2017, SYRYN has made lots of waves on the Western Canadian metal scene appearing on various festivals such as Decimate, Loud As Hell along with being scheduled to perform on 2020’s Hyperspace in Vancouver, BC on April 18th alongside Unleash The Archers, Silver Talon, Viathyn and more. SYRYN has also been recognized by Calgary’s local music industry, nominated earlier this year for a YYC Music Award for “Metal Recording of the Year”. Set to kick off 2020 with the seducing melodic power thrash of “Beyond The Depths”, vocalist Sloan adds:

“‘Beyond The Depths’ is a conceptual album that takes you on a journey through the eyes of a Siren. Her menacing instincts enticing her to lure sailors/pirates, torture them and kill them. This Siren, however, starts to develop humanity, which causes an internal struggle for her. The storyline allows you to be with her through this battle, its tribulations and emotions. To imagine what one would feel when faced with these situations and what decisions they might make. Will she succumb to her natural impulses, or will she fight with benevolence to be what she is to believe she is not?”

“‘Unbreakable’ comes in like gang busters from the very first note. The senses become infused with the haunting darkness that wants to possess your ears, and it demands your soul. I am captivated with every bass and drum beat which becomes intertangled with strong feminine vocals that speaks directly to me. Women have always faced challenges in any industry, let alone the metal genre, and yet here we are with the band Syryn featuring Sloan Voxx on vocals and their war cry for anyone needing that justifiable push towards righteousness on their own behalf or others. The guitars are sweet, fast, precise and impressively very Iron Maiden-ish. Overall, the entire musicianship impressed me.
