Mexico City’s instrumental prog metal four-piece GLASS MIND released their new album “Dodecaedro” earlier this year in Europe via Rockshots Records and now it’s hitting the shores of North America as of September 8th.

Influenced by everything from Metallica and Dream Theater through to Ryuichi Sakamoto and Philip Glass, GLASS MIND blends metal, jazz, traditional Mexican music and more. “Dodecaedro” follows their 3 instrumental singles “Detritus” (2014), “Inside the Whale” (2014) and “Babel” (2015) plus their 2011 debut album “Haunting Regrets”. The release is a conceptual album where each song represents an element of nature; fire, air, water, earth and ether. Swedish progressive metal band BINARY CREED follow up their well-received ‘Restitution’ album with their new opus “A Battle Won” now available in North America as of September 8th via Rockshots Records / MVD Entertainment Distribution.

Inspired by power and progressive metal such as Judas Priest, Queensryche, Nevermore and Opeth, singer Andreas Stoltz describes the sound of BINARY CREED as “melodic, gritty, atmospheric, layered and heavy!”

Stoltz says the subject matter of “A Battle Won” is as heavy as its music.

“The album is a concept album about war, blind obedience and what you sometimes need to do to get away and make yourself a better life. It is about making a stand against oppression and violence even it’s at a very high cost. All great art reflects the world around it. It does not exist in a vacuum. It fearlessly holds up a mirror to reality as it is rather than what we would wish it to be.

Such art is grist for the mill to Swedish progressive metal band BINARY CREED, who follow up their well-received ‘Restitution’ album with their new “A Battle Won”opus through Rockshots Records / MVD Entertainment Distribution for North American release on September 8th, 2017.

“The world around me inspires. Sometimes personal experiences and sometimes political events. Example, our previous album ‘Restitution’ deals with the inner conflicts of a young person and the difficulties for them to find identity and solid ground. Religion seemed like an option for a while for them, but I wrote the lyrics so you interpret the album either way.”

Stoltz says BINARY CREED are a different beast live.

“We try to do the albums justice.  You’ll get mature musicians who know what they’re doing!”

Mexican Instrumental Prog Metal GLASS MIND “Dodecaedro”

An amazing thing about our modern multi-media connected world is it allows us to discover amazing music that a generation ago would have been impossible.

Such a band is Mexico City instrumental prog metal four- piece GLASS MIND. Trying to describe GLASS MIND’s music is like trying to count the grains of sand on a beach; this is quantum music for a quantum universe, mixing metal, jazz, ethnic and more. GLASS MIND knows no boundaries; every note is suffused with deep meaning.

Their new album “Doedcaedro” was released in Europe earlier this year on May 5, 2017 via Rockshots Records to a great reception from fans and will now be released in North America on September 8th to follow their 3 instrumental singles “Detritus” (2014), “Inside the Whale” (2014) and “Babel” (2015) plus their 2011 debut album “Haunting Regrets”. “Doedcaedro” is a conceptual album where each song represents an element of nature; fire, air, water, earth and ether. Because there are no lyrics in GLASS MIND’s music, this allows them to transcend borders and boundaries and make connections with all lovers of music no matter what their nationalities.

Influenced by everything from Metallica and Dream Theater through to Ryuichi Sakamoto and Philip Glass, guitarist Pablo Berthir describes their sound as “eclectic, spiritual, dramatic, colourful and energetic.”

GLASS MIND have a special bond that transcends their ethereal music. They met when they were very young, when they used to live in the south of Mexico City. They were all students at the same musical academy. Each year there would be a competition between bands from different academies across the country. In 2006, GLASS MIND came first in the competition, winning a trip to Japan, which gave them a strong motivation to make music that continues to this day.

Live, fans can expect from GLASS MIND the “absolute concentration of the musicians, executing their instruments with grace and mastery. One second you’ll be head-banging and at the next one you’ll be crying. Our goal is to ‘slap’ the audience musically and when they leave the place they wonder what the hell they just saw!”

‘Erosion’ was recorded in Montreal at The Grid with producer Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) along with additional recording of grand piano done at Studio 270. The release consists of six compositions including a 27 minute masterpiece of the album’s title track, making it the band‘s most ambitious project to date. The album artwork was done by drummer and band co-founder Alexandre Dagenais along with lyrical poems included with the release written by pianist Camille Delage. The poems describe each composition as the album gravitates around the theme of nature and its persistence through time. 

‘Erosion’ will be available on iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify and all other major online retailers as of May 26, 2017. Their first single ‘What Remains’ is available for download on Bandcamp here.

When instrumental prog metal meets violin, the outcome is truly a unique sound that sets a band apart from all others in their respective genre of music. Introducing Montreal’s CYDEMIND, their instrumental prog technique blended with violin as their vocal piece makes for an auditory experience like no other.

“I grew up listening to metal while playing classical music. I’ve always dreamed of merging these two musical environments that many would find conflicting. CYDEMIND is living proof they can actually be complimented perfectly together.” says violinist Olivier Allard.
Influenced by bands such as Symphony X, Dream Theater, Haken, Plini, Rush along with classical, jazz and progressive rock, CYDEMIND are ready to present their first full length album ‘Erosion’ on May 26th, 2017 to follow their 2014 debut EP ‘Through Mist and Ages’.  The album was recorded in Montreal at The Grid with producer Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) along with additional recording of grand piano done at Studio 270.

“Even if we are a metal band, classical music is part of our identity and it was clear starting the project that we wanted to record with the most acoustic instruments possible.” explains Camille Delage, a graduate of classical piano from CEGEP St-Laurent in Montreal.

‘Erosion’ consists of six compositions including a 27 minute masterpiece of the album’s title track, making the release CYDEMIND‘s most ambitious project to date.             Vancouver progressive virtuosos OmnisighT teamed up with Blackroom Films to release a new live video for their track “Shift The Paradigm” off their new EP “The Power of One” released in January of this year. The video was shot during their EP release party on March 11th at The Astoria in Vancouver, BC.

“”Shift The Paradigm” is definitely a track that features everything OmnisighT’s known for: Extreme musicianship, big vocal hooks and great grooves. I was having some technical difficulties at the beginning of the song, but the show must go on! I’ve always liked music videos that show the realism of live performance, so I think it’s pretty cool. It was awesome to debut the new material and shred it up live!” says guitarist Blake Rurik.

OmnisighT‘s ‘Power of One’ is the latest offering to showcase their highly regarded musicianship and finely wrought song-craft. ‘Power of One’ as a whole is a musical journey with a story concept to question the status quo and stand up against the oppression plus deceptions of the ruling class.

Drummer Chris Warunki comments on the release:

“”The Power Of One” is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. Guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists will all have something in-store for them here with this EP. We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically. Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a “more is more” approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. A local Vancouver EP release party/show is in the works and TBA. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!”

About:
Known for their formidable musicianship, virtuosic guitar solos and powerful songs, OmnisighT is masterfully blurring the lines between melodic hard rock and progressive metal. Beginning as collaboration between vocalist/guitarist Raj Krishna and drummer Chris Warunki, they created the impressive ‘Path’ debut album in 2012. Their live line-up was consolidated with the addition of Dave Shannon on bass and guitarist Blake Rurik. ‘Path’ was followed up by the 2013 ‘Wave Particle’ EP.

Like all truly visionary musicians, band co-founder Raj was driven to create unique music. “I’ve been writing and singing songs since I was a little kid. We never seemed to hear heavy prog music that had shredding and hooks at the same time. It always seems you get one or the other….Having technical musicianship with good song-writing, shredding licks, and big hooks was the whole idea.”

Raj sums up OmnisighT’s music thusly: ‘Proggy, hooky, shredding, sad, and powerful!’

While Raj is justifiably proud of OmnisighT’s recorded output, he sees the importance of performance. ‘Live is where the band really shines! We put on a show, running around smiling and shredding. The band plays with more intensity…we often give the headliners a run for their money.’
