The soul in the solo and the gift of the riff. The blues from the heart and the colour in the art. Emerging from the underground of Montreal comes The Naked High. Joining forces in the summer of 2015, connected by a love of similar music ranging from blues to rock to metal, the dauntless quartet brings an electric chemistry to their music, amplified when they are on stage.

Releasing their latest EP “Tap Into The Evil” this past May, the band is sharing with fans their new video for the first single they unleashed “Jewel of The Crowd”. The video captures live clips from the band’s December 2019 performance in Montreal at Club Soda.

When asked about the track, the band comments:

“Lyrically and even musically this song takes love from Aerosmith’s style of writing. Sexual innuendos and just dirty fun lyrics. The way rock n’ roll used to be before everyone became so tame. The song is about wild nights and wild shows. It has a sleaze metal sound like riffs from a Guns n Roses, Skid Row, or Aerosmith record.”

Watch the video via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.
The Naked High is Hugo Leclerc-Charron delivering solos on guitar, Simon Ouellet with Iron Maiden-esque vocals, Phil Perreault keeping the low end steady, and Charlie Cayouette backing everything up with his rocking beat.

The Naked High have released their second EP entitled “Tap Into The Evil”. The 6 songs show the evolution of their sound from their 2017 self-titled debut as they push forward into the next chapter of the band and continue to learn from the legends that they admire while forging their own respective path in Rock N Roll.

“Tap Into The Evil” can be heard in full on the following platforms Bandcamp, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. Jewel Of The Crowd (3:22)
2. Rebirth (2:42)

“Varied vocals, catchy riff and virtuoso solos at a high level. The Naked High are a welcome surprise from the Stoner area for me. Tap Into the Evil is varied and creative. No surprise that the band can already look back on a solid fan base. A must for fans of Alice in Chains or Black Sabbath , an absolute recommendation for everyone else. Too bad that it is only available digitally. However, I am convinced and give a whopping 10/10 .” – Sound Magnet

“The Naked High was already being greeted by applause when they walked on stage. Their mushroom-infused sound pulled in the crowd faster than a turkey on Thanksgiving. I mean, as soon as they opened up with “Liquid Love,” a song that resonates well with the stoner crowd, people were already into it. Simon Ouellet, singer and frontman, is basically what would happen if Ronnie James Dio had a child with Phil Anselmo.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2019 Live Review opening for King Buffalo, Mountain Dust)

“The night opened with The Naked High. Their sound covered a lot of diverse metal territory. Their vocalist had an operatic Iron Maiden vibe, while the guitar playing took cues from Ozzy Osbourne‘s career and beyond. The second song in their set had a distinctly early metal sound, but a lot of the guitar parts evoked a slightly younger generation, particularly the squealing tendencies of Zakk Wylde.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2017 Live Review Opening for Truck Fighters)

“The group play an eclectic mix of blues/stoner rock and metal, and do so very well! For a band that hasn’t been around for too long, I feel like they’ve really nailed down their unique sound, even if the elements they use are rather familiar. Musically, the style falls in between Black Sabbath and the bluesy bravado of Danzig, and their songs that night were infectious with groove and tasteful guitar play. Singer Simon Ouellet showed his vast arsenal of vocal styles as well as his entertaining mid-song banter. This is one Montreal band everyone should keep their eye out for.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2016 Live Review opening for Bongzilla, Black Cobra)

“This Montreal band has some legit balls, and has made their debut with six tracks worthy of twenty year veterans. The Naked High is somewhere between metal and hard rock, with just a touch of doom. Excellent musicianship, songwriting and production quality (recorded, mixed and mastered at badass studio, wherever that is). I keep playing this one, and the digital download comes with lyrics, which are worth it for the song “Juice” alone (a song about Colonel Angus, so to speak). Here’s a good example of an album where the cover art pretty much performs perfect vetting for its clientele. If you dig the cover, I’m pretty sure you’ll dig the tunes, and if the cover is a turn-off for you, you are probably making the right call to walk away. Here is the opener, “Mean Amphetamine”. It gets better and better as it progresses.” – Heavy Metal Text Books

The Naked High is Hugo Leclerc-Charron delivering solos on guitar, Simon Ouellet with Iron Maiden-esque vocals, Phil Perreault keeping the low end steady, and Charlie Cayouette backing everything up with his rocking beat.Soon after they formed they began writing their first EP, the self-titled debut came out in 2017 and showed off their proclivity for catchy, smooth tunes with personal lyrics. Their wide variety of influences and love for rock n’ roll ensures their music is written effortlessly and naturally.

Sometimes it starts with a drum beat, or a bass line, or even a vocal line, regardless of how it starts out, it always turns into something melodic and passionate. Self-described as the ’70s meets Seattle, they combine two eras of music into their own distinct sound.

It didn’t take The Naked High long to become familiar with the stage and they have built a solid reputation and following. Focusing on charisma and providing an unforgettable experience, the band cooks up a strong live performance every time.

Fast forward to present 2020 and The Naked High have released another EP entitled “Tap Into The Evil” recently released on May 29th. The 6 songs show the evolution of their sound pushing forward into the next chapter of the band as they continue to learn from the legends that they admire while forging their own respective path in Rock N Roll.

Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, ELEKTRIC MISTRESS covers a wide spectrum of sonic grooves and influences from the early pioneers of heavy riff rock such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd. He intended to create a sound with strong southern influences without forgetting the years spent playing and listening to genres such as post-hardcore, screamo, and metalcore.

In 2015, with the recruitment of Alessandro Eusebi (guitar) and Daniele Alessi (drums), the live band was fully formed and they hit the studio to re-record the single “Sleeping Memories” with the aim to make an official video. The video was released in January 2016 and the live band took to touring. Later in 2016 “Louder” was re-recorded and supported with a European tour. From the rocky shores of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, HITMAN have been conjuring up their next EP “The Offering: Side 1” set to be released on September 14th, 2018. This will be the third EP from the whisky infused, stoner groove rock quartet and it is sure to be a hit among a wide range of listeners who are currently fans of Black Sabbath, Pantera and Sleep. Offering a sound that is familiar to the genre, but still refreshing and creative, HITMAN is poised to continue proving why they are one of Canada’s best up and coming acts. The band has been gaining notoriety by playing hundreds of gigs over the years and sharing the stage with the likes of Sum 41, New Found Glory, Silverstein, Metalian, Zaum, Skull Fist, The Agonist, Black Wizard, Diemonds, and Black Moor plus they were once endorsed by Rob Halford of Judas Priest when he wore a Hitman T-shirt onstage during a performance in Halifax in 2015.

Created for fans looking to hear sweet riffs, well thought out melodies and an overall groovy sound, “The Offering: Side 1” has fast songs, slow songs and embraces different lyrical themes throughout.

Teaming up with DoomandStoned.com, HITMAN is premiering the EP’s full stream at the following link: https://doomedandstoned.com/post/178010195558/hitman

“We are extremely excited and proud to be releasing “The Offering: Side 1!” We’ve poured our heart, souls (and wallets) into this project and along with our amazing studio team are excited to bring you the first EP that feels truly representative of our band. We’re a stoner band that drinks too much and loves to party. Basically we just want fans to enjoy the music and live shows as much as we enjoy making the tunes and performing.” says drummer Sylvain Coderre.

“However, what they’d rather impart upon you is their love for adult beverages. Given Decibel’s and Hitman’s mutual love of suds (rumour has it there’s a festival we’re throwing out west in a few months that’s all about metal and beer; get your tickets here) and the various permutations of metal spawned from the roots of the family tree planted by Black Sabbath, the ol’ liver pounders should get along well ‘round these parts.”- Decibel Magazine

“Halifax stoner-metal outfit Hitman is back with its third release, The Offering: Side One, a four-track EP that shows both progression in sound and better execution of bringing its live atmosphere on record. The songs are its most hot-blooded to date, with guitar tones dialled-in in a way that follows the band’s lead, instead of the other way around.” – The Coast (Halifax Weekly)

“an onslaught of intense, energetic, and sick-nasty jams ” – Canadian Beats

“This is a gem. Hitman kill it on these four cuts. Part two is due next year and you can count me in.” – Maximum Volume Music

“it rocks and rocks out powerfully…”The Offering: Side 1″ leaves you with a satisfied grin and strengthened neck muscles.” – PowerMetal.de

“The Offering: Side 1 exudes a corny type of old-time groove that I seldom find these days. This is how Stoner Rock ought to sound, full of long-gone flavors reminiscent of early Black Sabbath and Judas Priest combined. With a few additional amps added to the fray, of course – because they can. So, here’s to a juicy slice of rock, straight from the cold shores of Canada. Go and get some, you will not be disappointed” – Rock Music Raider

Their new video for their EP’s opening track “Curtain Call” is one to get you ready to slam a six pack and have a good time.

“We are extremely excited to premiere this music video. It’s our first one and we had a lot of fun filming it. The video is set at our jam spot where we threw a huge kegger. This is more so just a glimpse into our weekend lives. We’re a stoner metal band that enjoys a good party. This new EP is for people who like to hear some groovy riffs. This is literally our musical offering to you.”

BIO:

Playing an energetic brand of stoner metal guaranteed to get your blood pumping and headbanging, Hitman have been unleashing their unique whiskey rock assault since 2011.  Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, they have been gaining notoriety by playing hundreds of gigs along with festivals.

Sylvain Coderre (drums) started the project initially and reached out to long time friend Jordan Rose (vocals) to see if he’d be interested in fronting the band, who was followed by Andrew Coutts (bass). A week before their debut tour the band found themselves short on members so Corey Norman (guitars) stepped in, learned  the setlist in a week, they hit the road with the solidified lineup.

With musical influences ranging from Black Sabbath to Pantera to Sleep, Hitman coins themselves as high energy, whiskey infused, stoner rock keen on punching out hard rock riffs.

“We’re a stoner band that drinks too much and loves to party. So the roots of sludgy stoner rock are there but the booze fuels some more up-tempo songs. Basically we just want fans to enjoy the music and live shows as much as we enjoy making the tunes and performing.” quips vocalist Jordan Rose.

In 2013, Hitman performed at the inaugural Maritime Metal and Hard Rock Fest in Nova Scotia, Canada and released their debut EP “Whiskey Downfall”. In 2014, they returned to the festival as headliners and dropped the second EP “The Preacher” which was re-released in 2015 with a bonus track. Continuing on this momentum, Hitman won their way to play at Warped Tour 2016 in New York through contest held by Live 105 FM. That year they also returned to headline the Maritime Metal and Hard Rock Fest again.

With 3 EPs under their bullet belts, they continue to conjure a blend of stoner rock that is both familiar and fresh. With new music in the cauldron, “The Offering: Side 1” EP planned for release in 2018 followed by “The Offering: Side 2” in 2019.

“”The Offering Side 1″ is their third ep and quite possibly, their best.  While executing the same energy they bring to their live show this recording easily demonstrates why Hitman are among the premier heavy bands coming out of Atlantic Canada right now. From the opening riff of “Curtain Call” to the end of “Enchanted Wizard/Hail The Outro” this EP kicks ass and keeps the energy high without repeating itself.  Each song contains a perfect blend of raspy yet melodic vocals, blistering guitars and great songwriting.” – Bill Aresnault – Mettalworx

“So I’ve had the privilege to sit down with the new Hitman EP, and here’s what’s up. The boys hit back full throttle with their trademark take on Heavy Metal, which delves with influences from a couple generations of the genre for a unique sense familiarity; yet sounds fresh and engaging. With a riffing style that could almost be described as Pantera meets Black Sabbath, vocals that ring, to me, as a James Hetfield/Phil Anselmo hybrid; furthermore with a melodic sense that strongly reminds me of Thin Lizzy. On top of that, with a superb production job that captures all these vibes on point that will melt your ear holes. Hitman cover all the bases adding their individual touch along the way bringing their strand of ‘Heavy Fucking Metal’ to the Maritime scene. Looking forward to Pt. II of the EP at a later date!!” – Travis Macleod

Eastern Canada’s HITMAN Prepares To Release 3rd EP “The Offering: Side 1” September 14th

Created for fans looking to hear sweet riffs, well thought out melodies and an overall groovy sound, “The Offering: Side 1” has fast songs, slow songs and embraces different lyrical themes throughout. Vocalist Jordan Rose explains how the first single “Nero” came to fruition:

“When I’m stuck for lyrics, the other guys in the band will sometimes throw out some pretty ridiculous ideas. Like once, Corey, our guitarist, said if I didn’t write lyrics for a song soon he was going to write them about werewolves. So, I actually researched werewolves just for the hell of it and found that stories of werewolves date back to ancient Rome. Then in turn, that lead to a song being about Nero, the Roman emperor, being like a werewolf.”

With a wide variety of ideas, and the professional musicianship to go along with it, HITMAN is focused on bringing their high energy stoner rock to the masses through both their recorded music and live shows where they have supported bands like Sum 41, New Found Glory, Silverstein, Metalian, Zaum, Skull Fist, The Agonist, Black Wizard, Diemonds, and Black Moor. “The Offering: Side 1” will be followed up by “The Offering: Side 2” slated for release in 2019.

BUFFALO THEORY MTL is a band of beer chugging, heavy riffing fans for the fans. Attributing their name to a scene from the pop culture 80’s TV show CHEERS (Cliff Claven explains the Buffalo theory of beer to his buddy Norm (explanation here.)) and the MTL abbreviation representing their pride for their hometown of Montreal, QC. These seasoned veterans from the Canadian and Brazilian metal scenes are always ready to set the stage ablaze with their stoner / thrash infused metal for beer lovers around the world.

Comprised of members from legendary Quebec bands Ghoulunatics, Les Ékorchés, Arseniq 33 and currently active Vantablack Warship, BUFFALO THEORY MTL unleash their fourth and latest offering ‘Skeptic Knight’ viaStand Productions as of February 26th. The EP is the follow up to 2014’s ‘Murder Trilogy’ EP and their 2012 full length ‘Heavy Ride’ and was recorded at Indica Studio in Montreal, QC where it was produced by BUFFALO THEORY MTL along with Peter Edwards (Grimskunk). Featuring five annihilating tracks each with its own eclectic flavour / twist will appeal highly to fans of Down, COC, Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath.

“We think ‘Skeptic Knight’ is our best material to date and it’s damn heavy as usual. It has a different sounding production that we like a lot. We completed 5 songs for the release. There were lots of riffs just waiting to be completed and it was hard to choose which ones to release first as we are already prepared to unleash another EP by next year to follow it.” comments bassist Gary Lyons.

Vocalist Anton Parr adds “Four of the new songs on ‘Skeptic Knight’ speak about the coexistence of parallel worlds – material and spiritual – and how different individuals go through the trials of life. The exception is Conspiracy in Paranoland, which is a clear reference to how quick some of our idols vanished at a very young age. Victims of the extreme excesses of the rockstar way of life, fueled by ruthless manipulators.”
