FOETAL JUICE Shares Bass Playthrough For “Gruesome” Off New Album “Grotesque” Out Now!

(L-R): Lewis Bridges (Bass), Derek Carley (Vocals), Ryan Whittaker (Guitar), Rob Harris (Drums)

Unleashing their latest album “Grotesque” on Gore House Productions this past November, UK death grinders Foetal Juice have a new playthrough from bassist Lewis Bridges for the closing track “Gruesome”. In this song, the bass plays almost a solo over the intro riff where Lewis gets to flex his bass playing guns to the world.

Lews Bridges adds about the song:

“This one is where we have really experimented with a clean intro. This is something we have never done before but really enjoyed it when bands like Entombed have done it on albums. The clean intro is influenced by the film Lobster Man From Mars and we just thought it would be good to try a build a song up like that for one. After the intro we wanted it to go straight in as abrupt as we could make it. So, 6/8 blast it was. We wanted the song to be a sort of one after the intro but also make it incredibly groovy with skipping triplets on the guitars and a wandering bass. We are really happy with how this song turned out. “

Watch the bass playthrough for “Gruesome” via its premiere on Bass Musician Magazine HERE.

Foetal Juice’s sound is a melting pot of influences, ranging from death metal and grindcore to black metal, gore, groove, thrash, and even Enya. Their evolution as a band has brought new dimensions to their music, incorporating diverse elements while staying true to their death metal roots.

Notorious for their catalogue of unpleasantries and musical vulgarities, this album promises to be heavier, catchier, faster, and more aggressive than anything they’ve ever done before. It’s a relentless assault on the senses, and Foetal Juice is ready to claim its place in the annals of brutal death metal.

Recommended for fans of Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, and Vomitory, “Grotesque” is a relentless barrage of blast beats, horror and gore that will have you questioning your sanity.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Fielding with the album artwork done by Misanthropic Art, “Grotesque” was released on November 17th, 2023 and is available from Gore House Productions at the following links:

“Grotesque is an absolute maelstrom of sound that is satisfyingly punchy, chugging and impactful. It makes you want to hear more.” – Metal Talk

“The main impact of the album is to shoot terrific amounts of voltage straight into your brainstorm, to pump hearts, to convulse muscles, and to suck the wind from your lungs. See for yourselves.” – NoCleanSinging

““Grotesque” by name and definitely by nature this is 40 minutes of joyously twisted groovy Death Metal with hooks for days… in a year of excellent Death Metal it can still go toe to toe with the best of the bunch. This Christmas give someone you love the gift of gore. 8.5/10” – Ever-Metal

“Foetal Juice are recognized for their twisted and brutal amplification of virtuosic and violent musical assault. The album continues, said callous, promising a cataclysmic symphony of ferocity… The track (“Legion of the Grotesque”) moves more like a macabre exploration of the consequences of excessive cosmetic surgery. Despite the grim themes, Foetal Juice’s technical skillset is evident, which enhances the grotesque subjects, similar to writing a horror film. Their music, a relentless blend of grind and death metal, is unapologetic sonic devastation, recommended fans of Vomitory, Napalm Death, and Terrorizer.” – Metal Insider

“In the 3 years since the release of Gluttony, and I must say you have really seen a huge growth from the band and Grotesque is an absolute monster record, well deserving of anyone who has an interest in the genre. It has enough of the hooks and grooves which will be of interest to your more casual death metal fan whilst remaining absolutely mean with a viscous twist for those with a more hardened ear towards the underground.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Grotesque is a stonker of a record, completely worth your time and a strong contender for album of the year. Foetal Juice have made a rod for their own back now, having to try and top this with their next record, which I already look forward to. For now, another few listens to Grotesque will more than tide me over. 10/10” – Musipedia Metal

“with their intense, careening style of chaos hitting the spot time after time. Like a bludgeoning mace to your consciousness, ‘Grotesque’ is one of the more distatefully straightforward pieces of extreme music you’ll hear this year, and it’s all the better for it. A killer effort.” – The Killchain

“Your eyes will water, your ears will bleed, your muscles will ache, your sphincter will tighten, your guts will churn, and you may even vomit. It’s fucking Foetal Juice and it’s fucking Grotesque. Never change you lovable noise-mongers.” – Games, Brrraiiins & A Headgbanging Life

0 DEVOLVER Pays Homage To Guitar Hero w/ New Video Single “New Blood” Off Forthcoming Sophomore Album Produced By Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Devildriver, Whitechapel)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 5, 2023

DEVOLVER Pays Homage To Guitar Hero w/ New Video Single “New Blood”

Forthcoming Sophomore Album Produced By Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Devildriver, Whitechapel)

L-R – Jayde Penner (Rhythm Guitar), Jaylen Elias (Bass), Chris Brown (Vocals), Bevin Booth (Drums), Devin Babcock (Lead Guitar)

Following up their single “Jewels of the Maw” unleashed this past July just before their Western Canadian tour, Grande Prairie, Canada’s Devolver is unveiling their new track “New Blood”, which will be also featured on their forthcoming sophomore album produced with Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Devildriver, Whitechapel).

For this new music video, the band wanted to do something fun and pay homage to one of the greatest musical video games “Guitar Hero”. The band explains further.

“We had someone make the Guitar Hero charts for New Blood and Jewels Of The Maw, so if you play Clone Hero on PC you can download and play our songs! About the song, it’s an amalgamation of riffs written in a single sitting whilst Devin was sitting on a staircase bullshitting with Bevin. It was quickly developed into a skeleton structure at which point Bevin wrote drums for the song. After a tweak to the chorus, the song was finished until lyrics were added and a solo was added after the first chorus per Mark Lewis’ suggestion. This song doesn’t sit down at all and goes right until it ends. With chugging riffs, interesting melodies, ripping solos, and a catchy yet memorable chorus, we feel “New Blood” is putting our best foot forward.”

The music video for “New Blood” can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/1DKTAkwrSE4

Melding a particular brand of metal, Devolver can be described as “Gothenburg worship meets NWOAHM”. Formed by guitarist Devin Babcock and drummer/producer Bevin Booth, and later rounded out by guitarist Jayde Penner, vocalist Chris Brown, and bassist Jaylen Elias, Devolver blends groovy metalcore and melodic death metal, creating a unique sound that appeals to fans of modern metal genres while embracing their old school influences, wearing them on their sleeve. With a heavy-hitting new album in tow, and fueled by a passion that can only be understood by seeing their unbridled live performance, they are ready to make waves in Canadian and international metal scenes alike. The band explains:

“We think the new album will be exciting for any metal fans that hear it. It represents where we’re at as a band and as people. The music WE want to hear, and that we think others must be waiting for as well amongst new releases. Sounds that we’re not hearing anymore. The kinds of groovy and melodic sensibilities of our favourite bands that stylistically have fallen by the wayside in popular metal, but are very much due for a comeback. We want this album to turn some heads and call back to late 90s/00’s melodic death metal and metalcore while pushing forward with a razor-sharp sound. We think people will find it to be a breath of fresh air, that still reminds them of their favourite bands.”

The album release date is to be announced at a later date. Devolver is recommended for fans of In Flames, At The Gates, and Soilwork.

“Devolver uses melodies, intensity, and a variety of vocalists to hook you, reeling you from song to song making this such a welcoming and comfortable listen. I don’t mean they’re “easy listening,” there heavy as f***, I mean there’s always something different, you’ll never get bored while diving into this debut.” – Vulture Hound

“If After The Burial and The Ghost Inside had a lovechild, it would be Devolver. These guys blew me away with how professional, well written, and how well structured they’ve presented themselves with their SelfTitled record. Each song has its own personality, while still maintaining a signature sound. The breakdowns are simple, yet effective in each song. There is dynamic tension and then well-needed release throughout the record, and it’s downright masterful. This album is captivating, and I recommend anyone that is a fan of metal to check this out.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

0 Northern Quebec’s BACKSTABBER Premiere Conspiracy Music Video ‘My Disclosure’ via MetalInjection

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 11, 2020

For fans of Kataklysm, Hypocrisy, Decapitated, Deicide, At The Gates

Northern Quebec’s BACKSTABBER Bring Conspiracy Music Video ‘My Disclosure’ To Life

New Album “Conspiracy Theorist” Out Now!

L-R: Keven Letiecq Hull – Drums, Christian M. Theriault – Guitars & Vocals, Eric Seguin – Bass & Vocals, Philippe Beliveau St-Jacques – Guitars

Unleashing their debut beast “Conspiracy Theorist” in 2019 with much praise from metal media and even a nomination for metal album of the year from the GAMIQ’s (Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec), Northern Quebec death/thrash trio BACKSTABBER bring their track ‘My Disclosure’ to life in a new music video.

The video tells the story of the kidnapping of a young girl who is turned into a guinea pig by Aliens or Deep State (you’ll have to watch the video to find out). The track digs into the feelings of gaining back consciousness, the depression, and dizziness one can feel when realizing they can’t even trust their own memory. Then they recollect the events piece by piece to only realize that the knowledge of the truth may not be the best outcome.

The band adds:

“When we wrote the lyrics for this song we knew from the start that there was a good story plot and material to make a good video clip, so we kept the storyline in mind as we created the track. The plot twist is kept vague throughout the song so that we had room for the video production as we focussed a lot on the main character, which is the kidnapped girl, we wanted to dig into her emotions as she experienced horrific events. The filming part was quite a challenge as we had to shoot in many different locations ranging sometimes a hundred kilometres apart. ‘My Disclosure’ takes a specific approach to the disclosure movement as it focuses more on the victims of third kind encounters than the disclosure itself. It’s an in-depth view of the hell these people go through as they try to figure what happened to them. It’s also a reminder that knowledge can be a burden to bear and that some things are meant to be kept hidden.”

Watch ‘My Disclosure’ via its premiere on Metal Injection HERE.

BACKSTABBER‘s debut album “Conspiracy Theorist” is a fierce 10 track full-length that encompasses themes about scandals, critiques of mainstream media and conspiracies such as hollow Earth. Remaining old school, there are no clean vocals or breakdowns here, just a solid and mature death/thrash metal album, with good flow and clear thought in the tracks and compositions.

Vocalist/guitarist Christian M. Thériault adds:

“‘Conspiracy Theorist’ is an album that’s meant to open your mind about the way the world revolves around us as it offers a new perspective on many issues that we see in our lives.”

Album Stream “Conspiracy Theorist” here.

Album CD order and download available through Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify.

BIO:Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada, Backstabber is a formidable death/thrash metal trio inspired by conspiracies, new technologies, philosophy, and history. Covering a vast number of themes throughout their music, Backstabber can be likened to a ‘loose cannon’ with no foreshadowing of what direction they will take next, musically.

Starting with themes and gradually adding riffs, drums, bass and finally vocals, they pride themselves on complimenting their compositions with energetic and interactive live shows, the entire reason for them writing their music.

Eager to bring raw and fierce metal to the ears of listeners, Backstabber recorded their first full-length “Conspiracy Theorist” was released on February 15, 2019.

Backstabber has shared the stage with Cattle Decapitation, Depths of Hatred, First Fragment, Ending Tyranny, Insurrection, Blinded by Faith, Aepoch and more.

– 30 –

“Powered by drumwork that resembles a ferocious mix of machine-gun and mortar fire, Backstabber mount the attack with flurries of vicious, seething riffery and nail-gunning jab-fests, with the lyrics voiced in heartless, imperious roars. The devastation is pushed to further heights of frenzy with a shrill, eerily spiraling solo, and concludes with a hint of off-planet mystery.” – No Clean Singing

“Fast, frantic, politically minded and heavy” – Exclaim!

“Backstabber’s death metal is more of the modern variety (in a good way) with a very clean yet brutal sound and speed aplenty. The playing is insanely tight at times and it’s often hard to believe that this is only the first album of a relatively young band, their first demo having been released in 2016. Some passages are a little on the thrash side but for the most part, this is heavy, pounding, fast death metal driven by a drummer who is really asking for a speeding ticket. ” – 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“The songs are heavy, and the death and thrash influences make for some fairly easy to get into head bobbing as each track progresses… Conspiracy Theorist is a solid beginning for Backstabber… Solid for those that want some new, well-rounded death metal.”  – Dead Rhetoric

“Backstabber’s Conspiracy Theorist is a self-released album that makes one wonder how they haven’t been signed to any label yet… Backstabber have on their hands the first essential death metal release of 2019.” – 4/5 – Heavy Music HQ

THE FLAYING’s New Music Video ‘Place du Parvis’ Pays Homage To Hometown of Quebec City

Win Quebec GAMIQ Award For “Metal Album of The Year”

L to R: Seb – Bass, Wil – Vocals, Mike – Drums,  Did – Guitar

Recently winning “Metal Album of The Year” at the GAMIQ awards (Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec) for their debut “Angry, Undead” released this past March on PRC Music, brutal death metal contingent THE FLAYING are paying homage to their hometown of Quebec City with the new music video ‘Place du Parvis’.

The band explains:

“Place du Parvis is an important hub in Quebec city. It’s an area in our hometown that’s a very lively place that sees all social classes living side by side, for better or for worse. From the spray-painted back alleys to the churches, to the restaurants and household dwellings. We found hitting the street like a metal Beastie Boys posse was the best way to showcase our love for this track and hometown. Special thanks and shout out to Jannick Côté from Headcase Prods for filming and editing, Carl Méthot from HsProds for filming for being outstanding as always. Thanks to all of you for coming to the shows, supporting your bands and scene!”

Watch ‘Place du Parvis’ via its premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

The sophomore album “Angry, Undead” was released this past march via PRC Music. Working with Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy at The Grid in Montreal, QC, the album is pure mayhem for their fastest and most brutal debauchery to date. The concept of “Angry, Undead” is an intricate one with each of the eight songs falling under a distinct axis: Chaos (social manifestations); Madness (individual manifestations); and Void (existential manifestations). It is brutal, instinctive, unique, and wicked, and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Archspire, Suffocation, and Deicide.

BIO:

And it all began with the rope dancer….

Formed in July 2010, The Flaying is a death metal band based in Quebec City, Canada that focuses on fluid melodic construction of songs featuring brutal sections which are further complemented by vocals with both low end growls and hateful high pitches.

Since their first release Unhope (2014), Seb, Did, Wil and Mike are forging ahead in order to adopt a more brutal approach: adding new grooves, a greater velocity, and creating a wider ambiance as well as keeping breakdowns and progressive parts with counterpoints constructing a main theme of anger and a general hate of humanity.

Soldiering on with the philosophy of one band, four individuals, four personalities to collide, the writing process is a team effort initially seeing the band collaborate on riffs and groove ideas, adding a flourish of low-end colors, and blending the whole thing together with flying vocals that create a manifest of pure mayhem. This product of this steadfast diablerie will be realized on March 22, 2019, when the second album “Angry, Undead” is unleashed on PRC Music.

– 30 –

“Le guitariste Didier Samson se fait déjà appeler «Maître» dans sa profession d’avocat criminaliste, mais c’est au titre de «maîtres du métal» que lui et ses trois acolytes du groupe death metal The Flaying aspirent avec leur deuxième album Angry, Undead qui paraît le 22 mars sur l’étiquette émergente PRC Music. The guitarist Didier Samson is already called “Master” in his profession of criminal lawyer, but it is under the title of “masters of the metal” that he and his three acolytes of the death metal band The Flaying aspire with their second album Angry, Undead which appears March 22 on the emerging label PRC Music.” – Le Soleil: The Flaying: Maîtres du métal:

“True to the band’s name, the music of The Flaying will slash the skin from your face in paroxysms of blood-spraying savagery. But it does more than that.

For fans of Kataklysm, Hypocrisy, Decapitated, Deicide, At The Gates

Northern Quebec’s BACKSTABBER To Play FRIMAT Festival w/ Grimskunk, Inire and more!

New Album “Conspiracy Theorist” Out Now!

L-R: Patrick Gagné (Drums), Christian M. Thériault (Guitars & Vocals), Éric Séguin (Bass & Back Vocals)

Unleashing their debut beast “Conspiracy Theorist” this past February, Northern Quebec’s BACKSTABBER announces they will be performing on day three of this year’s musically eclectic FRIMAT Festival in Val d’Or, QC on July 26th. The band will be sharing the stage at the festival with Grimskunk, Inire, Carambolage and Les Louanges. Full details on the festival can be found at http://frimat.qc.ca/2019/.

Lyric Video – ‘Geo Engineering’ here.

Album CD order and download available through Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and all major online retailers.

BACKSTABBER is:

BIO:

Hailing from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada, Backstabber is a formidable death/thrash metal trio inspired by conspiracies, new technologies, philosophy, and history.

Eager to bring raw and fierce metal to the ears of listeners, Backstabber has recorded their first full-length “Conspiracy Theorist” set to be released February 15, 2019.
