Vancouver’s blackened death thrashers HALLUX reveal their new music video “Yersinia Pestis” in support of their debut self titled album unleashed this past February. Inspired by Toxic Holocaust, Satan’s Wrath, S.O.D, Celtic Frost, and Power Trip, the trio offers a thrash album with influences that draw from Death, Black, Crossover and D-Beat. The album features ragers such as ‘Yersinia Pestis’, ‘Master Machine’, ‘Chosen Enemy’, ‘Absolved in Flames’, and ‘Herders of the Weak’.

The band comments:

“We decided to start a project focused on a straight-forward approach and aesthetic inspired by early extreme metal bands, with the classic three-piece line-up, and leaving behind anything other than the absolute necessity to pull it off. We hope this album is received as a representation of our ideals by like-minded people…We want it to incite feelings of disconformities and disdain by illustrating the corruption of all forms of authority.”

About:

HALLUX are a band, who, in the immortal words of Max Cavalera, have gone ‘back to the primitive.’ Like a volcano of toxic sludge, they have cracked the crust of conformity that envelopes the world, shedding molten light on the oppression and fear that surrounds us.

Inspired by Toxic Holocaust, Satan’s Wrath, S.O.D, Celtic Frost, and Power Trip, drummer Ian Demian-Pérez describes HALLUX’s sound as “encrusted anti-authoritarian deathened thrash!”, while their debut self-titled album, which includes ragers such as ‘Yersinia Pestis’, ‘Master Machine’, ‘Chosen Enemy’, ‘Absolved in Flames’, and ‘Herders of the Weak’, he describes as “a thrash album with influences that draw from Death, Black, Crossover and D-Beat, we are a band that deals with the deception, lies, and oppression enforced by the powers that be!”

Perez explains the meaning of his band’s intriguing name.

“Hallux means ‘big toe’ in Latin, and is representative of what keeps us human and connected to this realm. No matter how much a person tries to transcend spiritually, their big toe remains buried in the mud.”

Live, HALLUX showcases their no-frills philosophy.

“We play tight and straight to the point sets, with little or no banter between songs and relentlessly playing song-after-song. We are not the kind of band that has gimmicks. We like to keep it simple and direct!”

HALLUX’s self-titled album was released on February 23, 2018 on Bandcamp, iTunes, CD Baby and all major online retailers.

“As the evolution of Ominous Eclipse has progressed, the band have hybridized a seething core of death metal sound with elements of thrash, black metal, and melodic death metal. But if “The Horde” is a sign of what’s to come next, they’re reaching for new levels of monstrous and electrifying destructiveness.” – No Clean Singing

“The crowd was stellar at Mavericks, where each of the four bands were well represented by their fan bases. Opening on the night were Ominous Eclipse, whose chunky, frantic thrash metal din was led by their howling frontman. Largely drawing from their 2015 album End of Days, the four-piece pounded through six songs, tackling tracks like “Pestilence,” Abandoned” and the album’s particularly solid title track. Helping to limber the crowd for the chaos to come, they called for a “wall of death” in the confines of the club and the fans delivered, clearing the centre of the floor before the opposing sides barrelled into one another, bodies flying everywhere.” – Exclaim! (Live Review opening for Kalmah April 2016)

NEWS RELEASE

For Fans of Kreator, Death, Testament, Sodom

Aussie Thrashers MASON To Support ANVIL Melbourne Date Nov 11th

New Album “Impervious” Out Now!

New Video “Cross This Path”

Crushing audiences across the globe with their driving force and energetic stage presence, Melbourne thrashers MASON deliver commanding performances that has taken them on tours across Australia and beyond in Asia, Europe plus Canada where they have shared the stage with the likes of Harlott, Havok, Accept, Revocation, Mutank and Annihilator.

As local favourites of the Melbourne metal scene, MASON have been selected as local direct support for Canadian metal demigods ANVIL and their show date on November 11th at The Prince Bandroom, which is part of the band’s 40th Anniversary World Tour. Ticket info here. Event details here.

Drawing influence from The Big Four and The Bay Area, MASON encapsulates the 80′s thrash sound mixed with fast tempos and a dominating rhythm section. The quartet unleashed their second full length “Impervious” this past October that features nine glorious thrashing tracks mixed and mastered by Erin Hamidovic (Devin Townsend Project, Sikth, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Elm Street).

Vocalist / guitarist Jimmy Benson comments:

“During the demo process we wrote a lot of material, but the majority made the ‘Impervious’ album minus one or two songs. We spent a lot of time fine tuning the songs and making sure they kicked ass! For this album, we focused mainly on trimming the fat and stepping up the energy and tempos. Fast, focused and heavy! For those wanting to know more about this release. ‘Impervious’ touches on so many topics from suicide, death, terrorism and more events that happen to people around the world. When ya look at the front cover, it is a symbol of character and strength of a boy that goes about his everyday life in the worst conditions and does what is normal to him to get by day to day. To sum it up, this new album is powerful and holds a strong message from start to finish.”

“Support comes from Australia’s thrash sensations Mason says Annihilator main man Jeff Waters: “With all the great bands that sent in demos, cds and links, the one that stoof out was these guys. My guitarist Aaron and I sat and listened to some of their songs and realized that this band will kick our asses if we don’t start practicing a bit more! Killer thrash band and genuine.” – Jeff Waters Annihilator

“this really is thrash in its truest essence. If you were around when thrash first broke all those years ago, you have to listen to this record. You’ll be flabbergasted how tracks like Tears of Tragedy and The Afterlife make you feel just like you did in 1984-86, so effectively has the band captured the very essence of what thrash metal should look, smell and, most importantly, sound like. – Sentinel Daily

“When the first note gets in your ear you know it’s gonna be an awesome band.  It’s blowing riffs and a nice voice reminding you of many legends.” The Metal Mag

“The new album from Australian thrashers Mason, it surges through ears with rabid energy and unbridled aggression and proceeds to raise the ante groove by searing groove and hook by virulent hook.” – The RingMaster Review

“In town as part of their national tour in support of their latest album “Impervious”, Mason are a thrash force to be reckoned with and their performance tonight was, as recently heard and so eloquently stated, “tight as a nun’s nasty”. No truer words could be said as the Melbourne thrashers brutalised the crowd with their brand of unadulterated vintage thrash that proves that Melbourne truly is a breeding ground for some of the best thrash metal not only in Australia, but in the world.” – The Rock Pit (Live Review)

“There is a real party vibe to this set… well, the whole night but everyone has been waiting for Mason to take the stage. And when they finally do so, Jimmy and the boys prove why they are making a massive dent in the scene locally and internationally.” – Metal-Roos (Live Review)

“Such awesome thrash, it blew me away. They play this solid thrash – clearly old school Metallica & Megadeth influenced and as metal as it can be.” – Metal Roos (Live Review)

“The best thing about Mason is that their eagerness for playing thrash really shines through. They don’t forget that thrash metal fans want to hear thrash metal; not death metal or black metal. Sure, there are a couple of blastbeats, but if you just want a band that plays fast and will make you bang your head insanely hard,Mason is the perfect choice. True to the subgenres’ roots, the band is able to incorporate Maiden/Priest influences into their music, while still spending the majority of the time thrashing. ” – Skull Fracturing Metal

“Mason once again proves the charm of Aussie bands, with the huge, sweeping riffs instantly hooking the listener into their brand of groovy, thrash metal. ” – Heavy Metal Tribune

Drawing influence from The Big Four and The Bay Area, MASON encapsulates the 80′s thrash sound mixed with fast tempos and a dominating rhythm section. Unleashing their debut self-titled EP in 2011, MASON are ones not to let the dust settle. Their ten track debut album, “Warhead” was released in 2013 and included guest guitarist Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore). In 2016, MASON jumped straight back into the studio to record their second EP, “Unmerciful”, the perfect follow up showcasing the band’s ability to fuse fast and aggressive metal along with melodic guitar work that captivated and reinforced their stronghold on a global level.

Now in 2017, their second full length “Impervious” mixed and mastered by Erin Hamidovic (Devin Townsend Project, Sikth, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Elm Street) is crashing the gates and kicking the mosh pit into overdrive with its official release set for October 6th. The nine glorious thrashing tracks will be blazing an even bigger trail for this Aussie powerhouse.

Vocalist and guitarist Jimmy Benson comments:

“During the demo process we wrote a lot of material, but the majority made the “Impervious” album minus one or two songs. We spent a lot of time fine tuning the songs and making sure they kicked ass!

The Sludgelord Premiere Extreme Metal Duo DEITY’s Self-Titled Debut Album

Debut Self-Titled Album Out June 2nd

The brainchild of Danny Alessandro (guitars/vocals) and John Massey (guitars/vocals), Toronto death metal duo DEITY has been a long time coming. Friends for the last twenty years, the duo formed fifteen years ago and have always been the core of the band. Both have been working on other projects, but always felt the need to finally go in studio and finish an album. Tired of working on metal that wasn’t true to them, the two completed a release that they’ve always wanted to hear and are now ready to officially unleash it to the masses on June 2nd.

Teaming up with TheSludgelord, the duo premieres the full stream for the debut that features eight brutal assaults with session drums done by Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) and session bass by Flo Ravet (ex-Nephelium). Mixing and mastering for the album was done by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist) and produced by Danny Alessandro with Joey Virgilio.

“This album has been a long time in the making and we are very proud of what we’ve created. From start to finish we want to take the listener on a journey of different emotions and feeling. As fans of metal we wanted to create something the listener could play over several times without losing interest. Something with a timeless feeling, and we feel like we’ve achieved this. Chaotic, aggressive and melodic are the best words to describe this self titled release.  We hope the metal community digs the album cheers!!!” comments Danny Alessandro.

“You see, “Sacrificium” is so blindingly fast and so technically jaw-dropping that attempting to provide even a rough linguistic map of its course is a fool’s errand. It’s a truly breathtaking rocket ride, a non-stop jolt of adrenaline, so blazing in its exuberance that trying to nail it down with words seems unjust, even if that could be done.” – No Clean Singing

“Toronto’s Deity deliver chaotic, aggressive and masterful self titled debut album.” – The Sludgelord
“High-intensity riffing, bladder-loosening drumming & hyper-aggressive vocals, Deity is one constant, nerve shredding assault.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“This is a great death metal album, that’s all all the stuff you look for into that genre…If you are a fan of Death, Emperor or Suffocation you have to check it out. Great job from the Toronto duo, of Deity, can’t wait to hear what’s next” – Re Zine

Antichrist Mag Premiere Extreme Metal Duo DEITY “Beginning of Extinction”

Debut Self-Titled Album Out June 2nd

L-R – John Massey – Vocals/Guitars, Danny Alessandro – Vocals/Guitars

The brainchild of Danny Alessandro (guitars/vocals) and John Massey (guitars/vocals), Toronto death metal duo DEITY has been a long time coming. Inspired by Suffocation, Emperor, Death, Slayer and Immortal and describing their music as ‘relentless, powerful, intriguing, honest and revitalizing’, DEITY has produced a truly special debut self-titled album due out June 2, 2017.

“We formed about 15 years ago…Myself and John have always been the core of Deity. We had both been working on other projects till we felt the need to finally go in and finish this album about 3 years ago. We’ve known each other for about 20 years. We got tired of working on metal that wasn’t true to us. This is an album we’ve always wanted to hear!” comments Danny Alessandro.

The self-titled debut features eight brutal assaults that include session drums done by Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) plus session bass by Flo Ravet (ex-Nephelium) along with the album being mixed and mastered by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist) and produced by Danny Alessandro and Joey Virgilio.

Teaming up with Antichrist Magazine, the duo premieres their second single “Beginning of Exctinction”.

“Beginning of Extinction came about during a jam session between Danny and I. As I played a few riffs, Danny played off of those and that’s how we ended up with the tune. The concept behind it was similar to what Dante and Virgil experienced through the Inferno. Our goal was for the individual to have that mindset as if they were witnessing the end of times. The lyrical themes were inspired by Hate Eternal/Morbid Angel while having that musical infusion of brutality, melody and complexity.” comments John Massey.

Teaming up with NoCleanSinging.com, the duo premieres their first single “Sacrificium”.

“”Sacrificium” is one of those songs when it kicks in you just want to run into the mosh pit. From the first drop you can hear the intensity of the vocals, the technical yet melodic riffing, and the hard hitting drums. We have a very Slayeresque chaotic duel guitar solo that we pay homage to Jeff Hanneman as well. We kept the arrangements and transitions more true to old school death metal. Lyrically Sacrificium is about people treating you like shit, trying to belittle you because they are better known, and the kind of people who wouldn’t have the guts to confront you face-to-face.” comments John Massey .

Calgary, AB’s KREPITUS are challenging the relationship between death and thrash metal with their trademark downtrodden technical riffs and fierce aggressive vocals. They have been constantly playing with opposing elements and creating a stable compound of death-fused thrash since their beginnings in 2013. Three years in the making, the bone crushing four piece are proud to unleash their debut album ‘The Eyes of The Soulless’ out now as of November 25th for FREE download via the band’s Bandcamp at the following link https://krepitus.bandcamp.com/album/eyes-of-the-soulless.

5. Eyes of the Soulless (6:16)

For more info, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/krepitusofficial.

About:

KREPITUS is comprised of Teran Wyer performing double duty on guitar and vocals; a tortured soul bound to his music. Matt Van Wezel is the second sniper, hitting each guitar note with precision and complementing the already harmonious riffs. Curtis Beardy pulls the tone down to the depths of hell with his steady hand and low register bass riffs. Finally, Harley “Rage” D’orazio kicks everything into overdrive possessed by grinding rhythms and accenting every solo on his drum kit.

Each member stands like a pillar; strong and sure in their own sound, but all standing to support the structure that is Krepitus. They have since performed with acts like Expain, Depths of Hatred, and Aegaeon and have competed in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada while writing their debut album.
