Death/thrash outfit RAIDER, hailing from Waterloo, Canada unleashed their debut album “Guardian of The Fire” this past March. The eight-track LP is a rush of E-standard mayhem, thrash overtones, and blackened vocals. Lyrically, the album’s theme revolves around overcoming lies and hatred that stand between all of us and the truth.

Fans of bands of Sepultura, Annihilator, and Skeletonwitch, RAIDER is one of the underground death/thrash bands to keep an eye on in 2020 as they continue to raise hell in the moshpit.

Earlier in September, the band shared their latest music video “No Sign of The Dawn”, a groovy thrash attack about the cost of taking our world for granted. It’s a reflection on getting human priorities straight.

The band adding:

“Our world stands on the edge of a knife. The virus is but another horseman in the ever-growing mountain of omens. We often get distracted and seem to forget that we are still on our way to one of many total deliverances. We have to unite, think, and speak for ourselves or we will be spoken for. If we do not choose the path that leads us to a better future, we will be forced down a path to ruin, of which there are many, and each of their songs remains the same: For the mortal world there is no sign of the dawn.”

Today, the band reveals their guitar playthrough with visual tabs for the track, which can be viewed via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Guitarists Ira Lehtovaara and Gabe Rosa comment on the playthrough:

“Thanks to everyone who has been cranking the No Sign of the Dawn music video and supporting us in general! We wanted to do something nice in order to show our gratitude so here’s a guitar playthrough for the song with Tabs! If you wanna see more playthroughs for more songs make sure to comment, like, and subscribe!”

“”Bound By No Fate” itself is an unrelenting and chaotic blast of thrash. Even someone who’s not primarily a fan of the harsher vocal style prevalent within death metal should be able to appreciate and get into the new Raider track and upcoming album.” – Metal Injection

“Raider pillage the best of death and thrash for their own blazing (yet fun) fury on debut LP Guardian of the Fire, out March 20. Despite only forming in 2017, the Waterloo quintet sound export-ready, and not just to nearby markets but even to the far reaches of Europe, from which many of their influences hail.” – Exclaim! 8 Emerging Canadian Artists You Should Hear in March 2020

“I think RAIDER is one of the best of the new breed of bands who are playing this style of metal today and “Guardians of the Fire” is well worth your time.” – Metal Temple

“In the end, these eight tracks combine influences from their domestic Canadian roots as well as American finesse and aggression to illustrate the power, precision, and musicianship that keep Raider in league with acts like Annihilator, Exmortus, and Skeletonwitch as far as melodies, hooks, and darkened, savage attacking mechanisms.” – Dead Rhetoric

“GUARDIAN OF THE FIRE is a non-stop hell-storm of pummeling death infused thrash. The album is full of technical riffing and some insanely powerful drumming. Raider has enough ability here to deliver up some of the best riffs in the business with a proficiency that many may possess, but rarely offer up to the masses… Fans of Exodus, Lamb Of God, Exmortus, and Deicide, among others, will find that they are going to have another favorite band to slam to!” – Metal Rules

“Canada is doing great in the thrash stakes this year, what with Warning Sign, Lutharö, Annihilator and plenty more all releasing ‘great’ to ‘phenomenal’ albums. Now the relentless machine of Raider has joined the ranks of great Canadian metal in 2020 to utterly punish and pummel the competition. Guardian Of The Fire is as high quality a debut anyone could possibly ask for, and this quintet look set to burn the world – one Ravenous Hydra at a time.” – Metal Observer

Calgary’s CONCRETE FUNERAL have been bashing their way into the ears of metal lovers in the local underground scene since 2015 and now they are bringing their debut album “Ultimum Judicium” to the masses this week on Friday, May 31st, 2019.

Just before the album officially is released, the heavy groove thrashers have teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the premiere of its full stream.

The band adds:

“Each song is its own tale. We bring an audio shitkicking with personality, off colour humour and maybe borderline questionable commentary. We wanna get people laughing, moshing and just having an all-out party. It’s straight forward, groovy death thrash that does contain elements of black metal and punk as well and we think a lot of people can get down on that. We’re really hoping to draw some fans across Canada and beyond with this record. We have a no bullshit approach to music so those that like it straight up heavy, no cleans should really dig it. And to add, we had the cover done in the style of a graphic novel to paint a picture of who we are and our sound. ”

Incorporating a vast variety of influences with some of the more prominent being Warbringer, Zakk Wylde, and Onslaught, and Hypocrisy, Concrete Funeral produces a sound in the veins of Death, Exodus and Lamb of God. Citing references like Hobo With A Shotgun; the band embraces over the top comedic horror and frequently embellishes their metal with those themes. Concrete Funeral is comprised of four talented musicians from Alberta that collectively have decades of experience behind them. “There’s plenty of unbridled rage and high-octane energy in this mad romp (“Carnival of Contradictions“) , with riffing that alternately pulsates, swirls, scissors, and slashes, tempos that turn on a dime, explosive drum work that will give your skull a solid battering, and vocals that veer from a guttural growl to a maniac shriek in the blink of an eye. It’s a riotous assault, but holds a few eye-opening surprises, including a hell of a guitar solo when the rampage briefly abates. But mainly, this is the kind of track that’s calculated to flood your body with adrenaline and get your blood rushing through the veins, and it reaches a crescendo of ferocious lunacy at the end. ” – No Clean Singing

“”Concrete Funeral , let’s face it, you can’t pass by a chance to listen to a band with a name like that, it just sounds… so Metal!! So if you like your Metal with that added ‘Thrash-tastic’ edge you won’t be too disappointed with their debut release “Ultimum Judicium” , it’s thrashy to the core but with a pinch of Death Metal, think Exodus, Death, Lamb of God and you’ll be in the right ballpark.” – The Metal Wanderlust

“Pay attention death/thrash fans! Soon a very promising debut album will be released by a Canadian band operating in this subgenre of metal… what makes Ultimum Judicium a very strong debut is that it shows what Concrete Funeral is capable of: playing some very well-done death/thrash metal that pounds nicely, but with mixing in quite some variation. Ultimum Judicium for sure promises very much for the future of Concrete Funeral. This is a band that probably could be a pretty big name in death/thrash metal within a few years. Recommended for sure!” – Dutch Metal Maniac

Calgary’s CONCRETE FUNERAL have been bashing their way into the ears of metal lovers in the local underground scene since 2015 and now they are bringing their debut album “Ultimum Judicium” to the masses this coming May 2019.

The first single from this pounding album is ‘Stabbed To Death’; the crux of this heavy and groovy album shows off the dirty work of this band of no-bullshit musicians. It is straight to the point in ferocity, climaxing with ruthless vocals and thick, punchy riffs. The band explains the lyrics and music behind the single:

“Straight up about hunting somebody down and playing with their insides just for the sheer pleasure of doing so, again very b movie inspired as you’ll see from the lyric video. Straight up thrash riffs in the vein of Exodus, meant to be a quick catchy single that sounds mean as the lyrics are.”

About Wacken:

Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) is a summer open air heavy metal music festival. It takes place annually in the small town of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. With 80,000 festival visitors, and including personnel a total of roughly 86,000 attendees in 2011,[2] it attracts all kinds of metal music fans, such as fans of black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, gothic metal, folk metal, and even metalcore, nu metal and hard rock from around the world.

The festival was first held in 1990 as a small event for local German bands. By 1998 the event had become the major festival on the European metal calendar and has included over 70 bands from all over Europe, North America and Australia. W:O:A is usually held at the beginning of August and lasts three days, during which the festival-goers camp on several large camping grounds surrounding the actual festival area. The 70 or more bands perform across four separate stages over the course of the event.

Since 2002, the Wacken Firefighters, the local volunteer fire department band, opens the festival.

The 2009 edition set a sales record when it sold out its 70,000  tickets by December 30, 2008, just 200 days prior to the festival. However, the 2012 edition broke this record; when it sold out on November 29th, 2011, 8 months before the opening of the festival with 75,000 tickets sold. The W:O:A 2012 took place with 137 bands, performing on seven stages.
