Thirteen Goats’s “Capricorn Rising,” tells the story of their mascot, Shepherd: a goat-skull-wearing Antichrist who raises an army of animals to liberate the earth from humanity’s constant wars and greed. This high-concept narrative is delivered with Thirteen Goats‘ signature blend of infernal riffs, huge hooks, and uniquely theatrical songwriting.

Each song on the album is part of a broader narrative that explores themes of disillusionment, radicalization, and rebellion as Shepherd and his 12 demon goats wage their crusade. Thirteen Goats delivers a unique blend of death and thrash metal, combined with a storytelling approach that takes listeners on a journey through the darkest aspects of both human and animal nature.

Listeners can expect furious riffage, ambitious song structures, and even occasional female guest vocals (courtesy of guest artist Carly Ellen Jones). What they shouldn’t expect is a record that plays it safe or falls neatly into one specific subgenre. Thirteen Goats is recommended for fans of Lamb of God, Carcass, and Mastodon.

Released on July 12, 2024, “Capricorn Rising” is available from Exitus Stratagem Records at https://www.exsrmusic.com/store/p/pre-sale-thirteen-goats-capricorn-rising

“It’s really strong. GREAT musicians, great production, as well as a very progressive aspect without losing the darkness.” – Kelly Shaefer from Atheist

“take a spin around the room with Thirteen Goats’ “high-concept narrative” and take on modern metal stylized by everything from Mastodon and Carcass to Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God.” – Decibel Magazine

“Tinnitist Album of The Week! Thirteen Goats ‘Capricorn Rising’ – Exitus Stratagem Records – https://tinnitist.com/2024/07/11/albums-of-the-week-thirteen-goats-capricorn-rising/

“All in all, on “Capricorn Rising” the gentlemen from the West Coast combine the universal power of North American thrash metal into a versatile, interesting and, above all, powerful record.8/10″ – Power-Metal.de

“What makes this turbocharged song (Sign of The Goat) so damned much diabolical fun is the band’s melding of viscerally compulsive grooves, head-spinning instrumental pyrotechnics, and rapid-fire vocal assaults — and doing so in a way that makes the track highly infectious too. The song vividly intersects with the tech-death sphere through flurries of quickly darting, swirling, and swarming riffage, deliriously cavorting arpeggios, and a multitude of percussive fusillades. As displayed in the video, fingers and limbs fly like the wind, and the guttural barks and hair-raising screams in the vocal department rhythmically eject the violent words just as fast and just as furiously. But, as forecast, the song is also a viscerally groovesome beast. It’s almost relentlessly hard-slugging, but what really stands out are brutish, muscle-galvanizing jackhammer-bursts, the first of which comes only 25 seconds into the track. Another one of those episodes sets itself up as the backdrop for crazed guitar soloing that sounds like the ecstasies of fiends. And we did warn you — this thing is also immediately catchy and enduringly addictive. It comes recommended for fans of Bolt Thrower, Archspire, and Lamb of God.” – NoCleanSinging

“To get some idea of Thirteen Goats’ approach to heavy music, consider that the Straight’s own Mike Usinger once asked readers to imagine “Vulgar Display of Power-era Pantera in a cage match with Cannibal Corpse and Ministry.” That’s a great start, but it doesn’t account for tracks like “Beheading Zoo”, which tops neck-snapping thrash with enough throat-shredding black-metal screams to please even the most discerning Mayhem fan. Or “Murder Lives in the Heart”, which throws a soaring refrain of heaven-sent clean vocals (courtesy of Carly Ellen Jones) into the mix… Capricorn Rising is that rarest of things in today’s world: a true album, with a set of songs designed to be listened to in sequence. Those songs tell the tale of Shepherd, a man so distraught over the state of the world—endless wars, environmental devastation, and other human-made disasters—that he sells his soul for the power to communicate with non-human creatures… Capricorn Rising is a saga replete with scorched-earth mayhem and mass slaughter—something you can bang your head to while pondering your own complicity in the global capitalist exploitation of ecosystems and peoples alike. In other words, it’s basically the perfect LP for our profoundly fucked-up epoch.” – Georgia Straight (Vancouver Weekly)

“they turn on the thrusters for “Beheading Zoo” and “Permission To Die,” closer “Animal Kingdom” is a quasi-ballad with a ferocious second half. ” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“their music gets the blood pumping. Sounding something like Archspire mixed with Blackening-era Machine Head, the tracks on Capricorn Rising are direct and violent. ” – Metal Utopia

“I’d say this is melodic death, some brutal death stuff, melodic music, black metal vox, growns and clean vox too.” – 89.9 WORT FM – The Moshpit (Madison, WI)

German Melo-Death MINDREAPER Unveils Epic New Video “The God I Am”

New Album “Withering Shine (…Into Oblivion)” Out Dec 2024 via Death Age Records

L-R: Christian Schoenke – Bass, Marcel Schneider – Drums, Sebastian Rehbein – Lead Vocals, Manuel Nozulak – Additional Vocals, Marcel Bangert – Guitars, Keys

Fans of hard-hitting melodic death metal are in for a treat as Germany’s Mindreaper gears up to premiere their latest music video “The God I Am”. This visual spectacle serves as a powerful prelude to their highly anticipated album “Withering Shine (…Into Oblivion)” set to drop on December 2nd, 2024 via Death Age Records.

“Withering Shine (…Into Oblivion)” stands as Mindreaper‘s magnum opus, seamlessly blending traditional elements with modern symphonic touches to create a unique sonic landscape. The album promises to be a collection of eternal hymns, each track a testament to the band’s musical prowess and emotional depth.

Mindreaper takes listeners on a haunting journey through the echoes of past existences, confronting themes of transience and irrelevance. The album doesn’t shy away from societal critique, tearing open old wounds and processing the lowest socio-cultural structures while keeping an eye on potential apocalyptic dystopias.

Listeners can expect brutally snotty guitars, lung-piercing bass, and stomach-smashing percussion, all embraced by epic orchestral arrangements that avoid falling into kitsch. The varied vocals of two powerful singers add another layer of depth to the already rich soundscape.

As the band puts it, “It is not the raised index finger, but the middle finger that wields the pen and the sword!” It is recommended for fans of Carcass, Edge of Sanity, and At the Gates.

0 Canada’s Maudiir Unleashes Double Digipak For EPs “La Part du Diable” & “Le Temps Peste”, Includes Bonus Track: Sid Vicious Was Innocent (The Exploited cover)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 25, 2021

For fans of Skeletonwitch, Darkthrone, Voivod, Ihsahn, Carcass

Canada’s Maudiir Unleashes Double Digipak For EPs “La Part du Diable” & “Le Temps Peste”

Includes Bonus Track: Sid Vicious Was Innocent (The Exploited cover)

Montreal’s one-man-black-metal-band Maudiir created by F. has unleashed two EPs since its inception. The debut “Le Temps Peste” was issued in 2020 and within a year later, the sophomore recording “La Part du Diable” was unveiled this past February.

Both are different in sonics, but similar in delivery of their creative veined black metal. The first EP featured more straightforward black/thrash elements whereas Maudiir‘s second release experimented more with progressive influences. Overall, both demonstrate intense, dark music from the mind of F. with lyrics that draw on societal reflections, religion, and the environment.

Today, Maudiir announces the release of both EPs on limited edition double digipak, which features a bonus cover track of The Exploited’s “Sid Vicious Was Innocent”.

F. aka Maudiir comments:

“I felt that combining the 2 EPs on one digipak would work well to offer an interesting listening experience, showing the progression of the music and sound between Le Temps Peste and La Part du Diable. Maudiir is very much a DIY family affair, so again my brother handled the visuals and did a beautiful job. It’s a really nice package to get into the world of Maudiir. Plus there is also a special version of The Exploited song “Sid Vicious Was Innocent” that’s going to surprise people.”

Maudiir is recommended for metalheads looking for something new, especially fans of Carcass, Darkthrone, and Skeletonwitch.

Digipak order is available on https://maudiir.bandcamp.com.

Canadian College Radio Loud Charts: #1 – The National Loud Chart – For the Week Ending: Tuesday, February 16, 2021 (Earshot)

“As “The Slumber” begins, a jittery, dissonant bass riff, underlaid by droning guitar and soon joined by F.‘s rabid snarl, creates an immediate feeling of incipient and dangerous derangement as it quivers above a neck-popping back-beat and a febrile bass line.” – No Clean Singing

“Feel free to imagine Maudiir as a mix of early Metallica and Enslaved, Darkthrone, Diamond Head, Skeletonwitch, Martyrdöd, Skitsystem and fellow French Canadian technology users/abusers, Voivod. Sitting at home with no shows to attend or play for a year has provided F. the opportunity to work in isolation and create the next chapter in the Maudiir story, La Part du Diable. The five songs within continue stirring the influence pot with the result being simultaneous sweet and sourness, light and darkness, uplift and despondency.” – Decibel Magazine

“If you’re tired of all those black/thrash bands that sound too much like each other, this is a little different. Just solid blackened thrash with a strong footing in traditional heavy metal that calls for repeat plays.” – The Metal Crypt

“If this is what Maudiir can achieve in only 24 minutes and 24 seconds, bring on a full-length. If you’re into Skeletonwitch, Voivod, or Ihsahn, give release this a listen!” – 4/5 Metal-Rules.com

“It’s The Crowning Hour that closes out a banger of an EP. Where the guitars blur reality and the drums hammer so hard, the brain begins to ache. The tempo is fiery, and the passionate delivery is joyfully received again.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“The first thing you notice about Maudiir‘s new EP, La Part du Diable, is just how good the record sounds. Crystal clear production on a blackened thrash release might not be at the top of every listener’s shopping list, but here the production absolutely works for F.” – Sentinel Daily

“What’s so refreshing with this E.P. is the flourishing evolution of styles and the sheer confidence in which the music is played. Aided by the crisp and professional production, this is a genuinely exciting release.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Maudiir entertain those who like black metal but also are open to prog and old school heavy metal. The mix is pleasing and the whole thing works very well.” – CGCM Podcast

“This album is so diverse and so free of genres, “Age Of The Wolves” puts forth a collection of Death metal rooted riffs, sick thrashy grooves reminiscent of Amon Amarth and Dying Fetus’ style.“ -Wayne Ortiz of Blackened Promotions

“Age of Wolves” is an album with strong, fresh appeal, and even the die-hard late 80s early 90s death metal cultists should give this album a listen. It’s more of an extreme metal album, so give it a shot!!” – Soulgrinder Zine

Hailing from London, Ontario, The Blood of Christ has recently released a split “Eastern Beast ~ Western Wolf” with Japan’s Vomit Remnants. They have a new lyric video for the track “Forgotten Divinity Chapter 1”, which can be viewed and heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

This track is an old school The Blood of Christ song from 1998 that was resurrected and filled with new life. Musically, it has a very chaotic feel to it with rhythm changes and an auditory assault of riffs. Lyrically, it is about the divinity returning home to his clan after many years of hiatus. The Blood of Christ shares their inspiration behind their art:

“We are inspired by human emotions, historical events, astrology, ancient wars, stuff like that and we try to depict our themes in a dark, poetic manner. Quite often, we avoid the cliché death metal subject matter and also avoid any form of hate in our lyrics because we want people from all walks of life to enjoy our art and craft. Musically speaking, we are inspired by the love of making music and passion for our own instruments. It all comes from within.”

“Eastern Beast ~ Western Wolf'” was fostered into existence by Jeff Longo (guitar) and Keisuke Tsuboi (VR drummer) back in 2017 however scheduling conflicts prevented it from happening until 2020. This split features the debut of the new lineup of Jason Longo (drums), Jeff Longo (guitar) and Hank Bielanski (bass/vocals).

The evolution of The Blood Of Christ has been a natural journey that began rooted in straight-up death-grind metal, and sometime around 1995, they added dark elements from black metal and doom. The songs became epic with varied time signatures and tempo changes, often shifting from chugging death metal riffs to droning black metal riffs in the blink of an eye – and incorporated more vocal styles than the average death metal band would.

Recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Immolation, and Dissection, “Eastern Beast – Western Wolf” is available on CDN Records.

About:
Canadian Epic Dark Metal band The Blood of Christ (aka Blood of Christ) began their career in the early ’90s, making a blackened death metal hybrid that sounded similar to a mashup of Carcass and Enslaved. They kept this style throughout their first two albums, but started to tweak it on their third full-length album, 2003’s “Breeding Chaos”. The Blood of Christ’s brooding, unique and crushing sound has made fans out of underground metal lovers from many genres, creating an appeal that defies genre borders.

On their second release through CDN Records, the London trio has crafted their most focused and creative effort yet with 7 numbers of Epic Dark Metal dexterity and power. Fiends whom were raised on the sheer brutality and boundary-smashing efforts of Morbid Angel, or the pioneering and challenging progressive grind-core of Liverpudlian innovators Carcass, the epic and majestic sounds of Viking artisans Enslaved or even the groove-laden proto-death of Brazilian legends Sepultura will find something rousing and engulfing within The Blood of Christ. All of these influences and components meet head-on and shatter the boundaries of conventional arrangements and ultimately take the listener away to territory similarly explored by none before.

While their influences favored the shocking approach with lyrical themes that were rampant with Gore, Satanism and often-abhorrent imagery, The Blood of Christ chose to focus on more abstract and poetic subject matter. Their songs are often rife with human suffering, lust and longing, time travel, astrology, historic battles and the human struggle for personal freedom. A sincerely dark and often poetic way of not being afraid to expose the innards of human suffering, and relate to the misery from the destructive, self-promotion of humanity with unique vocals that sound as if purveyed by a raging beast – all of which is set to a brutal and epic soundtrack.

The Blood of Christ was formed in London, Ontario, in 1994, their lineup composed of avid metal scenesters: guitarist Jeff Longo, bassist Marek Kopala, drummer Jason Longo and vocalist Jason Deaville. Musically, at that time they were closest to Cannibal Corpse, although other metal bands like Morbid Angel, Samael, Kataklysm and Carcass played a role in their sound.

A 1995 demo (that saw a shift in style to what is now their own blend of death and black metal) helped the band secure a deal with Pulverizer Records, which released their debut album, “…a Dream to Remember” in 1997. A strong underground following began to build behind the group with albums like 1997’s “…a Dream to Remember” and 2002’s “As the Rain Gently falls”. Vocalist Conan Bulani, who joined the group in time to appear on the band’s debut album, sadly passed away in 2011. The Blood of Christ is now fronted by Ontario underground-metal veteran Hank Bielanski on bass & vocals.

The release of “Eastern Beast – Western Wolf”, a split CD & Cassette with Japanese hyper-groove masters Vomit Remnants on CDN Records in late 2020 will see the debut of Hank’s beastly craft with The Blood of Christ. The Blood of Christ is the embodiment of an Epic Dark Metal craft that in it of itself is limitless with possibility.

In December of last year, London, Ontario’s The Blood of Christ released a split album “Eastern Beast – Western Wolf” with Japan’s Vomit Remnants. Now they have released a lyric video for the track “Apocalyptic Vertigo”.

“Apocalyptic Vertigo” can be watched on YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APSz0cDnsjQ

The track is a unique song that blends black metal and death metal in an abrupt manner. It features really catchy thrash riffs, and a solid down-picking pit riff to end it off, all of which are indicative of Jeff Longo’s guitar style. Lyrically, this track speaks about time travel and loosely takes inspiration from the movie “Twelve Monkeys”. The Blood of Christ shares the intention behind their music:

“We hope that our music takes people away to an inner place that makes them feel triumphant like they’re in flight. Hopefully, it inspires the same feelings we got when we were kids just discovering awesome metal music.”

The Blood of Christ is now fronted by Ontario underground-metal veteran Hank Bielanski on bass & vocals. The release of “Eastern Beast – Western Wolf”, sees the debut of Hank’s beastly craft. This split is the ninth release from the Canadian band, whose discography also boasts three demos, four full-lengths, an EP, and another split. They have toured with the likes of Kataklysm, Incantation, Necronomicon and Killitorous.

The Blood of Christ’s brooding, unique and crushing sound has made fans out of underground metal lovers from many genres, creating an appeal that defies genre borders, they are especially recommended for fans of Carcass, Sepultura, and Enslaved.

0 Out Now! Canada’s Maudiir Unleash Dark Progressive Black Thrash w/ New EP “La Part du Diable”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 19, 2021

For fans of Skeletonwitch, Darkthrone, Voivod, Ihsahn, Carcass

Out Now! Canada’s Maudiir Unleash Dark Progressive Black Thrash w/ New EP “La Part du Diable”

“La Part du Diable” Out February 19, 2021

Riff-driven with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals, Montreal’s one-man-band Maudiir created by F. unleashes a new progressive black thrashing EP “La Part du Diable”, a full year after releasing the debut EP “Le Temps Peste”. The intense, dark music comes with lyrics that draw on societal reflections, religion, and the environment.

F. aka Maudiir comments:

“I had great reviews for the first EP “Le Temps Peste”. I think the new EP “La Part du Diable” expands on the first one and brings more progressive and thrash elements. I also added distortion to the bass guitar this time around, which I think adds a Voïvod feel to the songs. All in all, it’s a pretty interesting and unique listen. I also wrote everything alone. Starting on guitar, adding drums, then guitar leads and textures, bass, and finally writing the words and recording them as I am advancing through the vocals. In the case of “The Crowning Hour”, I had a structure done with rhythm guitars and drums, but when I started adding bass, I realized the structure needed to change. Basically, the bass riff made it clear to me what was the verse in the song. Pretty much the same thing happened with “The Slumber”; switching things around when I got to the bass parts. So after that, I thought “why not try to write a whole song on bass?” That experiment yielded the track “Spirit of Sulfur”. That was very interesting for me; getting out of my comfort zone trying to figure out guitar parts that would complement the main bass lines.”

Maudiir is recommended for metalheads looking for something new, especially fans of Carcass, Darkthrone, and Skeletonwitch.

“La Part du Diable” is out now as of February 19th and available on the following digital platforms:

“A fine example of how to put a solo project together, Maudiir has chosen the sound he wants and is developing it in some style while avoiding the trappings of self-indulgence.” – Metal Noise

“Please don’t let this one fall by the wayside folks. This is a very promising young band we got here and this is one damn good slice of metal!” – Noob Heavy

“Professional in every respect, the production and playing are top notch, and the songwriting is obviously advanced as well, rendering me very surprised that this hasn’t been picked up by a label yet.” – The Mighty Decibel

“Maudiir: Effortlessly moves between styles…” – Permafrost Today

“Black Metal one man band Maudiir is out with a new EP filled with sinister menacing.” – Flying Fiddlesticks Music Blog

“Le musicien de Montréal (Quebec) s’est investi corps et âme dans son projet et nous a fait passer un beau moment. Une sacré claque.” – Metal Alliance Mag

Canada’s Maudiir Summon A Blackened Thrash Slaughter With “Spirit of Sulfur” Off “La Part du Diable”

Single Premiere via Decibel Magazine

New EP “La Part du Diable” Out February 19, 2021

Montreal’s Maudiir has a new single out, “Spirit of Sulfur” being premiered on Decibel Magazine HERE.

The second single is from the upcoming EP “La Part du Diable” due out on February 19, 2021.

The fourth of five tracks, “Spirit of Sulfur” is where it starts to get more experimental on the EP. Very bass-driven, the contagious harmonies flirt with thrash and punk, and it then develops into a kind of space rock instrumental section. The abrasive lyrics are about deceitful leaders grinding down their countries.

The biggest benefit to a solo project is being unrestricted in style and creative direction, something that is fully embraced in Maudiir’s work. An aggressive blackened thrash base is complimented with upbeat punk drumming and a heavy focus on the bass parts, resulting in a fresh take on modern metal. This uncommon attention to bass riffs resulted in this single, as Maudiir explains:

“On the first single, ‘The Slumber’ I was switching things around when I got to the bass parts. After that, I thought “why not try to write a whole song on bass?” That experiment yielded the track ‘Spirit of Sulfur’. That was very interesting for me; getting out of my comfort zone trying to figure out guitar parts that would complement the main bass lines.”

Riff-driven with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals, “La Part du Diable” is the second release from the one-man project to follow the debut EP “Le Temps Peste” released in February of last year. The intense, dark music comes with lyrics that draw on societal reflections, religion, and the environment.

Maudiir is recommended for metalheads looking for something new, especially fans of Carcass, Darkthrone, and Skeletonwitch.

The entire EP “La Part du Diable” releases on February 19, 2021 on all digital platforms.

About:
Maudiir, coming from the underbelly of Montreal, Quebec, Canada is an outlet for observations on obedience and industrialization riddled with man-made waste. With 80s heavy metal influences alongside black metal and punk, Maudiir is unique in sound; hauntingly dark while being corrosive and galloping.

Maudiir is a one-man black/thrash metal project that formed to be musically independent. Starting with guitar, F. works his way through each sullen track, adding drums, recording all the colorations and textures of the guitars, adding bass, and finally writing the words, very often at the same time they are being recorded.

The pessimistic aura of the music combines with lyrics about consumer society, religion, science going awry, addiction to technology, and environmental decay.

Maudiir released their debut EP “Le Temps Peste” during February 2020 and now returns exactly a year later with the follow up “ La Part du Diable”
due out February 19, 2021.

Creating an intensely dark sound, “La Part du Diable” was inspired by reactions from people to the health crisis created by Covid, the political climate in the US, and conspiracy theories. It’s a riff-driven  EP with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals, mixing thrash metal and black metal with progressive elements, giving it a unique sound and feel.

“I would say that with “La Part du Diable”, I’m going into a slightly more progressive and thrash sound than on the first EP. I also added distortion to the bass guitar this time around, which I think adds a Voïvod feel to the songs.”

F. (ex-Deeply Confused, Tears for the Dead Gods) is also currently leading prog/thrash metal outfit Trinity Blast.

Maudiir is F.

“As “The Slumber” begins, a jittery, dissonant bass riff, underlaid by droning guitar and soon joined by F.‘s rabid snarl, creates an immediate feeling of incipient and dangerous derangement as it quivers above a neck-popping back-beat and a febrile bass line. But the flashing thrash riffs that come into play give the song a different and more glorious and heart-palpitating dimension. And the multi-faceted nature of the song becomes even more evident when the drums start spitting bullets and the riffing creates a manifestation of savage, blazing chaos, driven to further heights of spectacle by an incandescent guitar solo. F.‘s vocals rise to greater heights of throat-splitting madness as the feeling of perilous tension returns, but that turns out to be a prelude to another eye-popping solo and another dose of thrashing ebullience at the finale.” – No Clean Singing

“Crunchy, razor-sharp guitars, thundering drums and good vocal work all delivered with heaviness. If you’re tired of all those black/thrash bands that sound too much like each other, this is a little different. Just solid blackened thrash with a strong footing in traditional heavy metal that calls for repeat plays.” – 3.75/5 – The Metal Crypt

“I’d say that the one-man band exists in the progressive black/thrash zone, overall landing in a spot where extreme metal begins. This comes across as relatively accessible and modern, despite the pummeling drum sound, bracing guitar and bile vocals, not an easy thing to achieve. They are in the same family tree as their provincial compatriots Voivod, but on the slightly less odd side of the family. Professional in every respect, the production and playing are top notch, and the song writing is obviously advanced as well, rendering me very surprised that this hasn’t been picked up by a label yet.” – The Mighty Decibel
