Canadian neo-rock nerds DOUBLE EXPERIENCE have posted their rendition of “The Edge of Night”, originally performed by Pippin (Billy Boyd) to Denethor II (John Noble) in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
“When Double Experience performs and one of the band members has to change instruments or tune up, the others will sneak in a cover like this to break the silence and amuse ourselves. Ian and I hadn’t made a goofy video like this in a long time, so we figured it would be the perfect way to encapsulate a memory our fans may have had of our live show.” comments guitarist Brock Tinsley.
In additional news, after a busy 2014 that saw DOUBLE EXPERIENCE tour across the United Kingdom (tour recap on PureGrainAudio.com here) along with dates in the USA and Canada in promotion of last year’s debut album ‘721835’. The band is proud to announce they will be returning to the UK for dates in May and June (which will include new drummer Dafydd Cartwright) following their tour of Eastern Canada that also includes a performance at Anachronik Fest in Montreal, QC.

About:
Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.

“Nerds from our great neighbors from the North can rock! Double XP is a lot more than a couple of gamers with instruments. Their upcoming album goes to show that gamers really do have feelings, and they are not ashamed to talk about em!” Royal Flush Magazine
“Their debut album “721835” consists of a fairly ballsy bunch of well-written alternative rock ‘n’ roll songs with cheeky riffs and ambitious vocal melodies. The lyrics might very well have been inspired by nerdy things and contain plenty of references that can be cherished by fellow nerds, but at the same time they are written in a way that succeeds in communicating extremely relatable feelings and experiences.” – Rock Freaks
“They’re a quartet who embrace their nerdy credentials, and luckily for those who may be concerned also know how to knock out some chunky riffs and melody lines.” – Screamer Magazine
“I recommend checking out “721835” if you enjoy rock music, Fall Out Boy, or simply love the combination of music and gaming/comic books/trading cards/etc.” – Canadian Beats
“Good songwriters…I think [Double Experience] are next. They’re going to do very well and I’m very excited about that.” – Jayson DeZuzio, producer (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Four Year Strong)
“The most genuine and down to earth band I’ve ever had to work with, load-in and sound checks were quick and easy with this bunch and they are some of the most hard working guys we as a venue have ever had the pleasure of the working with. Having traveled so far, and never played Swansea… prior to the show we were very unsure as to which way the event would turnout. But sure enough, [the band] did not disappoint. Playing to a pretty full room of Welsh fans singing and dancing along, throwing in a cover by Queen to really get them going. As a promoter and venue owner, I would recommend booking this band to anyone in the world, they definitely will not disappoint.” – William Sheldon, Promoter & Venue Owner – Static Bar, Swansea UK
“It’s rare that a band like Double Experience come along so we’re going to cherish them while they can still call themselves an ‘upcoming’ band because it won’t be long before they’re playing sold out massive shows. Great band, highly recommended.” – Andrew Dutton, Promoter – The Square, Harlow UK
