The UK’s alternative wave of infectious rock known as THE UNDIVIDED will be hitting venues in Toronto, ON during this year’s Canadian Music Week ON May 5th and 7th with more showcases to be announced. This will be THE UNDIVIDED‘s second appearance at Canadian Music Week, which the band is also using as their platform to launch their much anticipated EP ‘Satellites’ set for release on May 6th. The three song EP with two live bonus tracks was produced and written with Dan Weller of SIKTH with the first single / video ‘The Invincible’released last October. ‘Invincible’ tells the story of organ donation compassionately from both sides of the giver and receiver, which is a cause the band fully supports after a fan’s mother in UK had a successful heart transplant after be on the waiting list for a long amount time plus the Welsh government in Wales deciding to pass regulation for the opt out decision got the guys highlighting to the rest of world the importance to sign up for organ donation.

“Every organ donor can save 8 lives, that is 8 families who are given hope, 8 families who don’t have to grieve, 8 families whose lives are changed.” says Sarah Todd Callender-Ferrier, the UK fan fan whom inspired THE UNDIVIDED.

The band comments on their appearance at CMW:

“We have been counting down the days to getting back to CMW since the moment the wheels went back up on the plane to return home last year. It’s just such an amazing atmosphere and a great opportunity for a new band. We’ve been busy writing and recording our new EP ‘Satellites’ to release especially for our trip out to CMW. Canadians will be the first people to hear it live and get a copy! This EP is a journey with its lighter moments and its darker ones. It’s a more mature sound with each new bit of music. Also we wanted to challenge ourselves by doing something different and not re do the same stuff just because it works. We only wanted to put out new tracks we really believe in. No space for filler. As long as we have the need to make music there will be more.”

About:

Driven by a desire to create the kind of noise people simply have to stand up and hear the most exciting- not to mention anthemic- rock act to emerge from South Wales in decades has arrived and not a moment too soon.

Inspired by the political, message-heavy words of fellow countrymen Manic Street Preachers, the instrumentation of Idlewild, and the penchant for melodic pop sensibilities evident in the likes of Mansun and Peace, The Undivided make music that’s impossible to ignore. Soaring guitar chords launch from atop punishing riffs, shuddering bass lines carry the rhythms forward, and sledgehammer drumbeats underpin this combination of harmony and electricity.

“Kill Matilda may be the best punk band you haven’t heard of. Based out of Canada and solely a DIY band, it’s very possible this female-fronted fist full of punk fury has flown under your radar. Not anymore, though. Their latest release, the#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll EP is a throwback to the classic punk movement with a little bit of horror rock mixed in, serving as an impressive tribute to The Misfits (not that new “Misfits” crap- the real Misfits).” – The Front Row Report

“Opening up with Pomegranate and through to I Want Revenge hints of The Misfits and The Cramps instantly emerge from this vigorous group. Zombie Apocalypse and Law Abiding Citizen continue the mayhem through to the penultimate track PBJ which typifies your current day zombie. What really caught my attention was the final track Geisha With A Switchblade, this is a powerful depictive of the ultimate in revenge to a bad guy whilst enjoying every last detail. Check below the new video for Law Abiding Citizen and enjoy, if you’re nearby any venues these guys are tearing then get yourself down for a set of carnage!” All About The Rock UK

“I can’t say enough good things about this 6 track EP from KILL MATILDA. This is one of those gems that you’ll be happy you found early enough before their RISE amongst the LIVING! Check em out” – Heavy Metal ICU

“this is a fresh and exciting burst of musical energy that looks forward to the future rather than to late-90s nonsense. From the start, I loved the power of Dusty Exner’s voice. She can scream with the best of them, but—lucky for us—can also carry a tune.” – Sea of Tranquility

“A six track extended player crashed landed in my inbox like a bull in a china shop thanks to a Punk Rock outfit called Kill Matilda… The title of this E.P. is “#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll” and it takes no prisoners!” – Rockulus Maximus

“if there’s one thing thing guaranteed to wake the slumbering beast from the annual hibernation it’s some gravelly voiced and quite frankly excellent punk. If you like Hole, The Misfits or The Offspring (and Yeah, Yeah Yeahs,) and let’s face it who doesn’t, then these guys are right up your alley…down and dirty punk with sexy riffs and a promise of blood, fists and stomping buy this on March 4th. You won’t regret it.” – Wyrd Ways Show Review

“The EP is packed full of high energy, powerful tracks. I personally find that the band makes you feel like you are at their show, rocking out with them. It’s a mix of songs that gives you chills and makes you feel empowered by just listening.” – Canadian Beats

Montreal based solo rock musician Milo McMahon has confirmed he will be playing at this year’s Canadian Music Week on May 9th at Cameron House in Toronto, ON. Showcase details here.

“I used to live in Toronto and as a music fan, CMW was always written in bold on my calendar. To have the opportunity to hop on the other side of the fence and perform at the festival is a big honour. I’m preparing something special just for those dates and can’t wait to get down there.” comments McMahon.

McMahon recently announced he will be hitting the road at the beginning of March (dates listed below) in support of his latest EP ‘Gone Too Long’ released last October to follow up his first release of 2014, the self-produced debut album ‘Big City Hustle’.

“The last 12 months have been a whirlwind, and the reaction to Gone Too Long EP has been amazing. The live show is our bread and butter, so we’re really excited to get back on the road and bring these songs to life.” comments McMahon.

With his infectious stage presence, impressive guitar playing and powerful voice, McMahon has harvested a following of enthusiastic fans from across Canada with two releases in one year. His most recent, the three song EP ‘Gone Too Long’ was produced by Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals) and features performances by Joseph Yarmush of Suuns along with Lisa Iwanycki Moore of Blood & Glass. His debut album, ‘Big City Hustle’ released in March of 2014 explores the dichotomy of the struggle to make it as a successful musician in downtown Toronto along with his second life: that of a tree planter in the wilds of Northern Canada where he spent over two years living in a tent in the Canadian wilderness planting over one million trees.

The youngest of five, Milo was born at home in Dublin, Ireland but relocated to wintry Winnipeg, MB shortly after where he developed a love of all things Canadian: canoeing, hockey and rock n’ roll. Early memories of Guns n’ Roses on the living room hi-fi, Neil Young’s Harvest Moon on long car rides and later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers on repeat on his first Walkman have certainly left an impression on the 27-year-old singer/songwriter, whose refreshing brand of garage rock produces songs that are both musically innovative and lyrically engaging.

“I would have to say that you owe it to yourself to see Milo and his band. It is absolutely a must-see act if you love rock music and want to see an up-and-comer playing the style the way it should be played: with energy and integrity.” – Hot Soupe

“We can feel Milo’s talent in his music, and the energy that his band brings to the act. The vocalist and frontman Milo is definitely a talented singer – he has a very nice and soothing voice, with a wide vocal range. There is definitely a lot of potential to move up for this Montreal musician.” – (Live Review) – The Scene Mag

“The first track, “Gone Too Long”, is both melodic and catchy with some fairly awesome flute playing. The second track, “Come Get Me Eyes”, a little more rock than the first track, is equally as catchy. The guitar and bass, along with the lyrics, really stand out on this track. The last track, “Buyin’ a Truck”, is a fun song about missing somebody. I can see it being a good sing-along tune as well.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

“Big City Hustle is definitely one of the more interesting eclectic I’ve heard in a while…. It takes a lot of courage to make a concept album, especially to do one alone, and McMahon grabs the bull by the horns with full-force. This album shows the beginnings of a very promising musical career and should not be overlooked.” – The Scene Mag

Ottawa, ON video game rock nerds Double Experience are proud to announce Ontario show dates for the month of April and May for their ‘Rated M For MaTOUR’ that will include a performance at this year’s Canadian Music Week on May 10th in Toronto, ON.

“Ever since we completed the new record last summer, we toured extensively overseas and got tons footage for the new single in the process. For this spring tour, we really wanted to focus on our home province of Ontario and visit cities that we haven’t been to in almost a year. To make it even more special, we will be bringing the very first copies of our brand new album along with us as a tour-exclusive for our fans to get their hands on before the official release later this year.” comments vocalist Ian Nichols.

The band is gearing up for the summer release of their forthcoming album ‘721835′ on August 1st to follow up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’. The band’s first music video in support of the album ‘Who The Hell?’ can be viewed at the following link: http://youtu.be/_64hxwk42cc

About:

Successfully performing 500+ shows and collecting over 100,000 miles during their multiple tours across Canada, the UK, and once in the States, Double Experience offers a no-frills, no prisoners, no holds-barred live show that has music nerds wanting more.

The band’s upcoming album, ‘721835′ was recorded by fellow science-fiction aficionado Al Jacob (He is Legend, A Skylit Drive) in North Carolina and is a curious collection of songs that demand to be heard. Inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy, this release showcases a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences.

Their 2011 debut album, ‘One Big Quicksand’ was recorded and produced by up-and-comer Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) and was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.

About:

There’s something to be said for fate in the music world. One moment you’re left with the skeleton of a band, unsure when you’ll be able to follow your calling again, the next you’ve got a whole new line-up, a brand new home, a stronger, more defined sound and are recording with some of the biggest names in the industry. This is the tale of The Rabid Whole.

Disenchanted with playing in bands whose music was unchallenging and run of the mill, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Andreas Weiss set out to remedy his predicament. Purchasing an arsenal of music and noise-making gadgets, he began writing songs for his own band’s 2009 debut album, Autramaton.

Recruiting musicians along the way, the first incarnation of The Rabid Whole was solidified, releasing their first album and touring Canada, sharing the stage with the likes of The Birthday Massacre, Econoline Crush, Hinder, Apoptygma Berzerk, and 16Volt.

But that’s when things began to take a turn. Following the departure of several band members, Weiss decided to leave his hometown of Regina, SK behind, taking a leap of faith and moving to Toronto, ON along with guitarist and founding member George Radutu.

Through some lucky online ads, he discovered drummer JJ Tartaglia and bass guitarist Oscar Anesetti while a Christmas trip back home to Regina put him face-to-face with Chalsey Noelle, a friend of a friend looking for a new career path after quitting her job. Wouldn’t you know it – Noelle was a talented keyboardist and vocalist.

Now, the new and improved Rabid Whole is set to release their second album, Refuge, on May 1, 2012. A direct reflection of the emotional and external changes of Weiss’ journey, the album deals with relatable themes.

“I sold my house, quit my engineering consultant job and moved…We were starting from square one again, but with more uncertainties than ever and weren’t sure when we would even have a full band again. Part of the writing had begun randomly scattered over the past couple of years, but the majority came right after the move. I set up the studio in the basement of my house and got to work. I didn’t leave the house for two months and wrote from the moment I’d wake up until I’d fall asleep,” says Weiss.

Recorded and produced by Karl Schubach (Misery Signals, Solace), mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Jakalope, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and mastered by Noah Mintz (Broken Social Scene, Death From Above 1979), the finished product delivers rock and electronic elements pushed to the max, a male and female vocal showdown and, as Weiss puts it, showcases “a 21st century, high-energy, electro alternative, orgasmic-punch-in-the-face-rock band.”

Isn’t it time you fell down the rabid whole?

What The Press & Industry Is Saying:

Canadian Musican Magazine:  Halifax’s Classified might be trying to establish himself as the preeminent writer of hip-hop songs tied to our national identity, but Winnipeg’s Abstract Artform might just give him a run for his money.

The group, fronted by MC and producer Shea “Kid A” Malcolmson, fuses live jazz and soul-like music with vocal delivery familiar to fans of groups like Jurassic 5. Their “I Am Canadian” single from 2010’s His Story In The Making is a hit waiting to happen while other cuts share and celebrate life in a Prairie capital. Upcoming full-length As The Crow Flies is their second in as many years and the third since 2008’s Prairie Kid. The band’s work ethic has garnered them consecutive appearances at the taste-making NXNE festival, a 12-month stay on the Chart college lists, and a slew of other appearances and opportunities.

With easy flow, great instrumentals, and lyrics worth turning an ear to, Abstract Artform should be must-play material for any Canadian hip-hop fan.

Uptown Mag – Review – His Story In The Making: His Story in the Making, the second album from Abstract Artform (aka producer/MC Kid A, aka Shea Malcolmson), delivers on the promise hinted at on Prairie Kid. From the easy groove of Winnipeg (feat. Fashawn) to the funked-out Old School (feat. Flo Soul) to the hooky Hip Hop (Is What I Was Doing), Kid A establishes himself as a self-deprecating, clever wordsmith who isn’t afraid to let his Prairie roots show. There are no bitches ’n’ bling tales of excess here, either; Steady At It is a refreshing reality check about the financial struggles faced by Canadian artists, hip hop and otherwise.- 4/5 – Jen Zoratti

HipHopForever – Review – His Story In The Making: Canadian hip hop group ABSTRACT ARTFORM is a perfect recipe of golden era hip hop combined with funk and soul from the 70’s, and of course some new school influence. Abstract Artform founded by Kid A, the band includes several members: Kid A – lead vocalist/writer/producer, Cue – hypeman/back-up vocalist, DJ ill Type – DJ, Bishop Grandin – drums, D-Rail – bassist, Cam Wilks – drums

Uptown Mag – Review – Prairie Kid: “What happened to hip hop?” MC Abstract Artform, aka Shea Malcolmson, asks on Here We Are. Good question. Luckily, this Prairie kid is eschewing the commercial hip hop cluttering our radio airwaves and, like Winnipeg expat Grand Analog and Edmonton’s Cadence Weapon, takes a decidedly old-school approach to hip hop. Heavily funk inflected, Prairie Kid dares you not to dance – but it’s Malcolmson’s deep, Buck 65-esque vocals that make this record shine. Check out Boom and They Call Me featuring the renowned DJ Brace. – Jen Zoratti

Winnipeg Sun – Review – Prairie Kid:
“You can call him Abstract Artform. You can call him Kid A. You can even call him Shea Malcolmson. But don’t call him a poser. This debut proves the local MC and producer is definitely for real. His beats are stark yet distinctive, his eclectic tunes splice ’70s samples with his own material, and his gruff, tongue-tripping flow bypasses thug fantasies for intelligent realism. We’d call that cool.”- Darryl Sterdan

Radioindy.com – Review – Prairie Kid: “Abstract Artform is the real deal, true emcees that cannot be denied, reminiscent of Jurassic 5, The Roots, and even old school hip-hop like Fab 5 Freddy.” – Ross Shotland
“You one of the coolest, smartest and sincerest artist I know. Much success.” – Akil the MC (LA SKILL DISTRICT/JURASSIC 5)

“…Distinctively Canadian Hip-Hop…” “…National hit song writing material…” – Greg Wells PRODUCER (ONE REPUBLIC, LINDSAY LOHAN, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, DEFTONES)
