Streaming Now! Quebec’s BACKSTABBER Holds Power Over Metals With Their New EP “Patterns of Domination”

Mixed and Mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy)

Backstabber, the groovy Canadian death metal force, returns after a long silence, with their latest EP “Patterns of Domination”, out now. Originating as a solo project in 2012, founder Christian Thériault turned Backstabber into a full-fledged band in 2015, driven by a relentless thirst for angry metal and a need for vengeance. They take no prisoners with this release that is inspired by James Redfield’s “The Celestine Prophecy”, which explores four patterns designed to consume someone’s attention and energy. Backstabber shares their thoughts on the album and what fans can expect from them:

“Each track digs into a specific pattern giving for a wide array of emotions throughout the EP. It can also be felt musically as each song has a very distinct style while the production makes a good wrap up keeping it as a whole. Our music being live-oriented from the start, it makes way for an energetic output. Our shows are well rounded up and fronted accordingly.”

The evolution of the band’s sound from their previous two releases underscores a departure from the solo origins, with Thériault making room for other members to express themselves more prominently. Thériault leads the charge on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Philippe B. St-Jacques on guitar, Eric Séguin on bass/back vocals, and Keven L.-Hull on drums. As the band’s evolution continues, “Patterns of Domination” marks a pivotal moment where the members’ contributions shine through, creating a distinct and cohesive musical expression.

The tracklist includes the bone-crushing “Harvesting The Weak”, the relentless “Langues Sales”, the haunting “Crawling Through Your Bones”, and the brutal “Snitches Get Stitches”. Backstabber‘s sound, ranging from old-school death metal riffs to slamming brutal death, promises an intense auditory experience and is recommended for fans of Kataklysm, Lamb of God, and Mors Principium Est.

“Patterns of Domination” was produced by Backstabber vocalist/guitarist Christian M. Thériault and mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) and can be heard via its full stream premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The EP is due out on March 15, 2024, and is available for pre-order at https://backstabbermetal.bandcamp.co.

What the press has said about Backstabber’s 2019 album “Conspiracy Theorist”:

“Powered by drumwork that resembles a ferocious mix of machine-gun and mortar fire, Backstabber mount the attack with flurries of vicious, seething riffery and nail-gunning jab-fests, with the lyrics voiced in heartless, imperious roars. The devastation is pushed to further heights of frenzy with a shrill, eerily spiraling solo, and concludes with a hint of off-planet mystery.” – No Clean Singing

“Out of northern Quebec comes the Men In Black, melodic death metal band Backstabber. Last year, these guys dropped their debut album Conspiracy Theorist and it still stands as one of the best albums of the year. Full of tinges of Hypocrisy from style and sound, to the obvious connection of alien themed lyrics. A little over a year later now, Backstabber are dropping a music video for their song “My Disclosure” and it’s essentially nothing you would expect from a small independent band only on their first album.” – Metal Injection

“Fast, frantic, politically minded and heavy” – Exclaim!

“Backstabber’s death metal is more of the modern variety (in a good way) with a very clean yet brutal sound and speed aplenty. The playing is insanely tight at times and it’s often hard to believe that this is only the first album of a relatively young band, their first demo having been released in 2016. Some passages are a little on the thrash side but for the most part, this is heavy, pounding, fast death metal driven by a drummer who is really asking for a speeding ticket. ” – 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“The songs are heavy, and the death and thrash influences make for some fairly easy to get into head bobbing as each track progresses… Conspiracy Theorist is a solid beginning for Backstabber… Solid for those that want some new, well-rounded death metal.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Backstabber’s Conspiracy Theorist is a self-released album that makes one wonder how they haven’t been signed to any label yet… Backstabber have on their hands the first essential death metal release of 2019.” – 4/5 – Heavy Music HQ

“BACKSTABBER deliver aggressively systematic silver lining lacerations of rip-roaring screams of vengefully vicious old-school Death ‘N’ Thrash Metal professionalism – simply put – recommended.” – Metal-Temple

“The tracks that attracted my attention the most were ‘Ink Spill’, ‘My Disclosure’ and ‘Banksters’: continuing the old-school texture, these tracks, as well as the entire full-length, include no clean vocals nor breakdowns; all that is contained is substantial and complete death-thrash metal led on by a superb stream of undeniable thinking and design. Backstabber’s music can definitely be cherished over time by fans of Decapitated, At The Gates, Deicide and Hypocrisy as the band grows in following. This release shows glory in blending their musical layout with dynamic and spirited riffs.” – Metal-Rules

“Conspiracy Theorist has a real face crushing, devastatingly great death/thrash metal feel to it…” – Crannk

Quebec’s BACKSTABBER Seeks Control With Music Video For “Harvesting The Weak”

New EP “Patterns of Domination” Out March 2024 – Mixed and Mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy)

From the far reaches of Rouyn-Noranda in Northern Quebec, Canada, the brutal death metallers of Backstabber are set to dominate the metal scene with their latest EP, “Patterns of Domination”, to be released this coming March 2024 to follow their 2019 debut album “Conspiracy Theorist”. The EP is loosely based on James Redfield’s “The Celestine Prophecy”, and the theory of four patterns that serve as conduits for manipulating someone else’s attention and energy. The heavy topic is matched by vicious blast beats, gritty gutturals, and groovy solos. The first single off this new offering, “Harvesting The Weak”, presented now in video format takes a look at The Intimidator, as the band explains:

“It is the most brutal pattern; Intimidation. It hits you right in the face while teabagging your knocked-out sack of bones in front of your friends. We’re talking Death metal from old-school riffs to slamming brutal death.”

With a focus on a four-track concept EP, each song represents a specific pattern within the set, providing a brutal and unrelenting journey into Backstabber‘s musical prowess. The EP’s tracklist includes “Harvesting The Weak” (The Intimidator); “Langues Sales” (Poor Me); “Crawling Through Your Bones” (The Interrogator); and “Snitches Get Stitches” (The Aloof), the patterns that collectively form an endless cycle of consumption, shattering victims from the inside out.

Founded in 2012 as a solo project by Christian Thériault, Backstabber evolved into a full-fledged band in 2015, driven by a relentless thirst for angry metal and the need for vengeance. Backstabber‘s creative process is described as starting with a single guitar riff, be it played on a serene Sunday morning or cranked up on a Friday night.

Backstabber‘s sound, much like their lyrics, is dynamic and ever-evolving, promising an exciting musical journey for fans of extreme metal. “Harvesting The Weak” is recommended for fans of Revocation, Hypocrisy, and Kataklysm and can be seen and heard via its video premiere on TheCirclePit at https://youtu.be/FJFzTEdldKo

“Patterns of Domination” was produced by Backstabber vocalist/guitarist Christian M. Thériault and mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy). The EP is due out on March 15, 2024, and available for pre-order at https://backstabbermetal.bandcamp.com.

Canada’s AUGURIUM Unleashes A Hauntingly Quivering Track “Inquisition Of The Possessed”

New Album “Unearthly Will” Out August 2023

+ Western Canadian Tour Dates (BC, AB, SK)

L-R – Taylor MacDonald – Drums, Logan Barlow – Lead Guitar, Yianni Pantelopoulos – Vocals, Cejay Carnochan – Rhythm Guitar, Reid Paraszczynec – Bass

The deathly howls of “The Inquisition of Possessed” from Canadian death metallers Augurium will take you on a full-force impact of brutality. It’s a relentless track of speed and complex experimental sounds. It’s the perfect opening track to introduce current and new fans to the band’s forthcoming album “Unearthly Will”.

“This is by far the band’s most intricate song. We’re firing off on all cylinders for this song to express our attempt to dispel misconceptions about religion, and to promote inner discernment.” adds vocalist Yianni Pantelopoulos.

The track can be heard via its lyric video premiere on SlamWorldwide at https://youtu.be/acv80cu4iXU

Augurium builds on expressions of old and new references within the world of heavy metal transforming influences from black, death, progressive, and grindcore metal to concoct an original sound. “Unearthly Will”, the band’s second album and third studio offering to follow 2018’s “Unhallowed Ascendance” and 2017 EP “Omen” is a fresh take on what Canadian death metal has to offer. With a new and evolved lineup, Augurium brings forth heavy, filthy riffs in a variety of time signatures and genre-blending aspects, over finely executed percussion and rhythm section, along with low guttural screams.

Augurium has Western Canadian tour dates planned with Hooker Spit, Raising the Ruins, Kryotic, and Cell during the months of August and September in support of “Unearthly Will”. They promise a brutally good time for those who attend one of their gigs and plan to deliver a polished, dark, expressive, and rewarding performance for each city they visit.

Unabating, haunting, and quivering, “Inquisition of The Possessed” is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Belphegor, and Rotting Christ.

“Unearthly Will” is due out on August 25, 2023, and is available for pre-order at https://augurium.bandcamp.com.

0 DEVOLVER Takes A New Look At Melodic Death Metal With Single “Jewels of the Maw” + Western Canadian Tour Tour Dates (AB, BC) w/ Widow’s Peak, Snakepit

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 14, 2023

DEVOLVER Takes A New Look At Melodic Death Metal With Single “Jewels of the Maw”

+ Western Canadian Tour Tour Dates (AB, BC) w/ Widow’s Peak, Snakepit

L-R – Jayde Penner (Rhythm Guitar), Jaylen Elias (Bass), Chris Brown (Vocals), Bevin Booth (Drums), Devin Babcock (Lead Guitar)

Hailing from Grande Prairie, Canada, Devolver’s particular brand of metal can be described as “Gothenburg worship meets NWOAHM”. Formed by guitarist Devin Babcock and drummer/producer Bevin Booth, and later rounded out by guitarist Jayde Penner, vocalist Chris Brown, and bassist Jaylen Elias, Devolver blends groovy metalcore and melodic death metal, creating a unique sound that appeals to fans of modern metal genres while embracing their old school influences, wearing them on their sleeve. With their heavy-hitting new album in tow, and fueled by a passion that can only be understood by seeing their unbridled live performance, they are ready to make waves in Canadian and international metal scenes alike. The first look at their forthcoming album is the single “Jewels of the Maw” produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, Devildriver, Whitechapel). The track was also heavily inspired by the novel Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut. The band gives some insight into the song:

“Musically, it comes in very hot with a scream and straight into an upbeat riff. As we move into the next section it picks up with the verse, which brings up memories of old In Flames. This single will eventually be on the album we recorded with Mark Lewis. He really motivated us to push the envelope and make a really strong body of work. This song is us making the music that WE want to hear, built on the foundation of all our influences that made us want to do this in the first place.”

Devolver’s lyrics come from many different places. Much of it comes across as calamitous and devastating. The novel this song takes inspiration from covers topics of the creation and value of art, what art means to us, striving to be the most honest version of yourself, and tying into themes of desperation, survival, and genocide.

According to the band, this single is going to turn some heads and call back to late 90’s/ 00’s melodic death metal and metalcore, while looking forward with a razor-sharp sound. They hope people will find it to be a breath of fresh air, that still reminds them of their favourite bands. It is recommended for fans of In Flames, At The Gates, and Soilwork.

“Devolver uses melodies, intensity, and a variety of vocalists to hook you, reeling you from song to song making this such a welcoming and comfortable listen. I don’t mean they’re “easy listening,” there heavy as f***, I mean there’s always something different, you’ll never get bored while diving into this debut.” – Vulture Hound

“If After The Burial and The Ghost Inside had a lovechild, it would be Devolver. These guys blew me away with how professional, well written, and how well structured they’ve presented themselves with their SelfTitled record. Each song has its own personality, while still maintaining a signature sound. The breakdowns are simple, yet effective in each song. There is dynamic tension and then well-needed release throughout the record, and it’s downright masterful. This album is captivating, and I recommend anyone that is a fan of metal to check this out.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 26, 2023

Streaming Now! Toronto’s MALICE DIVINE Coat Empowerment In Black Metal Textures In “Everlasting Ascendancy”

“Everlasting Ascendancy” is the second album from Canada’s one-man black metal project Malice Divine, following up their much acclaimed self-titled debut in 2021. Able to work freely without creative impediments, Ric Galvez has poured his passion into this album and it shows. A lot of the songs have complex song structures, but there is also a lot of catchiness and melody to make this album a very memorable listen, nonetheless. He shares his excitement for the release:

“I am incredibly excited to finally have the sophomore Malice Divine album “Everlasting Ascendancy” released into the world! With this album, I am aiming to have the listener feel empowered and inspired to go after what they want in life and not settle for less. The message of Malice Divine is one of empowerment and that message can be found throughout all 8 tracks on “Everlasting Ascendancy” in some shape or form. I poured my heart and soul into this album, which will be apparent both musically and lyrically. Despite the music obviously being extreme metal, that doesn’t stop me from writing about very personal matters. All in all, I am incredibly proud of this album, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

“Everlasting Ascendancy” is a dynamic experience while also being an overall more aggressive album than the first one, especially in the vocal delivery. There are still plenty of melody and classical guitar sections, which is a major part of Malice Divine’s sound. The solos on this album are even more virtuosic than before as well.

All songs on “Everlasting Ascendancy” were written by Galvez who enlisted session drummer Dylan Gowan (Vesperia, Birds of Bellwoods, Co-Host We’re Talkin Drums, Overkill Reviewer Banger TV) to hammer them out. The album was produced and mixed by Tyler Williams (Sludgehammer, Monolithic Productions) and mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit). The album artwork was done by Eka Saputra (Psychopart).

Malice Divine intends to deliver a listening experience that is highly memorable and one that will leave the listener feeling empowered and wanting to listen to it again and again. They are recommended for fans of Watain, Thulcandra, and Dissection.

About: Toronto, Canada’s Malice Divine is a solo project conceived by Ric Galvez, who had always had the dream of being the leader of his own project. He wanted to expand beyond being known as just a lead guitarist, into also being known as a songwriter, vocalist, and frontman. Ric has played in local bands previously and was a contestant on Banger TV’s Shredders of Metal Seasons 1 & 2.

Ric has a major in music from York University, and through Malice Divine he shows off his vocal, guitar, and bass prowess. His lyrics are inspired by psychology, spirituality, as well as personal experiences that involve the overcoming of obstacles and hardships, using the resulting verses as a form of empowerment.

The second offering from Malice Divine, entitled “Everlasting Ascendancy”, will be released in early 2023. Once again it features Ric Galvez on Vocals, Guitars, & Bass, as well as Dylan Gowan (Vesperia, Banger TV) playing session drums. Malice Divine is also currently transitioning from being a solo project into being a band effort, and is set to start performing live in 2023. What people can expect from seeing Malice Divine live is highly aggressive black and death metal-inspired music, with shreddy and virtuosic guitar solos that add a melodic layer that isn’t common in the genre.

Malice Divine’s sophomore album “Everlasting Ascendancy” is set to be released on January 27th, 2023.

“This is one of the first albums to come out this year and it is this strong. So as we gather our thoughts for AOTY 2022, an early contender for 2023 kicked this year off right! This album is essential. You’re welcome!” – Metal-Rules (2023 – Everlasting Ascendancy)

“Slaves of shred will have another reason to bow down in 2023 because Toronto-based Malice Divine will be releasing their second album Everlasting Ascendancy on January 27th. As lots of people already know, the man behind this project — Ric Galvez — has made a name for himself as a guitar virtuoso, and if anything, he elevates his skill to even greater heights on Everlasting Ascendancy. But as the album’s title track that we’re premiering today (through a lyric video) demonstrates quite convincingly, the songs aren’t just excuses to show off, but are instead well-crafted pieces that display dynamism, inspiring melodies, and the kind of hard-charging ferocity that creates primal reactions.” – NoCleanSinging (2023 – Everlasting Ascendancy)

“The solos and those vocals just emit black metallic sparks and they eat into my ear canals. Watain and Dissection merge here with his own style. An explosive mix does the honors and every track is a feast. “Eight songs long” always surprising variety. A very successful album. A uniform porridge was absolutely not touched here. The cover is like an invitation card. “Come and listen to this beast”. A great start to my first review of the year.” – Hellfire-Magazin (2023 – Everlasting Ascendancy)

“Malice Divine hop back and forth between coming off like a death metal band doing covers of stuff they’ve recorded as a black metal band and coming off like a black metal band doing covers of stuff they’re recorded as a death metal band.”- Decibel Magazine (2021 – Self-titled album)

“Whether you’re into death metal, progressive metal, or epic metal, this album ticks all of those boxes effortlessly.” – Powerplay Magazine (2021 – Self-titled album)

CDN Records has just unleashed Canadian thrashers Korrosive’s latest album “Toxic Apokalypse” on CD, which is available at https://cdnrecords.com/shop/korrosive-toxic-apokalypse/. The full-length was released digitally on October 7th of this year. and will also be available on cassette and vinyl in 2023 with its release to be determined at a later date.

Korrosive is an unapologetic, and high-octane headbanging unit that has crushed many mosh pits around their hometown of Toronto, ON, and beyond having shared the stage supporting well-known acts such as Havok, Venom Inc., Narcotic Wasteland, Voivod, Exciter, and Accept.

Korrosive is known for pushing the boundaries with its roots in thrash and meshing elements from more extreme metal such as death and grind to break down wall after wall that enters their path.

On Korrosive‘s new Album “Toxic Apokalypse”, fans new and old alike, can feel the aural brute-de-force on the eight-track blitz of pounding headbanging fury. Even though each song on the album is quite different in a way from the others, it’s all uniquely Korrosive. Songs deal with topics of science fiction, armageddon, and “what if” scenarios. For each track on the record, the band pushes them to new levels of velocity and extremity, from ‘Fatal Strike’, which has a ton of blast beats and solos, yet is still unmistakably thrash, to ‘Radioaktive Scourge’, filled with pure aggression, unlike anything they’ve released before. From its speed, the lyrics, and the sheer intensity, this song may be the shortest track on the record, but makes the largest impact and it’s over before you know it. And also strongly recommended is ‘Hail the Hellfire’, perhaps the band’s anthem to the entire “Toxic Apokalypse” album. Written as a reflection of the period when the full-length was being composed, this track discusses the brutality of war and the end result of each and every individual involved in its cause, regardless of side.

The band adds:

“We think the fans will be in for quite a surprise. We literally went all out and pushed the limits. It’s a diabolical, fast, unforgiving armageddon. From slow passages, mid-tempo bangers, hyper-fast blast beats, and the occasional odd-time signature, it’s a ride in extreme thrash unlike anything before. Toxic Apokalypse is an album that will hit you hard, fast, and leave you with a ‘what the f*ck just happened?’ feeling.”

Recommended for fans of Sodom, Kreator, Death, and Sepultura, “Toxic Apokalypse” was produced by Ben Erikson with mastering done by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator, Cro-Mags, Municipal Waste, Soulfly). The album artwork was created by the infamous Ed Repka (Dark Angel, Death, Hirax, Megadeth, Suicidal Angels, Venom).

“If you like your thrash metal with a little San Francisco and a nice helping of Germany, then this is the album for you. “Toxic Apokalypse” is already out on CDN Records from Canada and it’s a must for any metal fan who likes it hard, nasty, and ripping off heads! This is easily in my top five metal albums of 2022.” – Pete Altieri, Murder Metal Mayhem

“It’s an album which is relentless, something that any self-respecting thrash fan would want. And yet, there is some balance to the album. It’s paced well, with the tempo picking up again at the tail end of the album” – UK Thrashers

Toronto, Canada’s Nihilist Death Cult have its first album coming out this year, and to get listeners riled up they are releasing the video for the single “You Get What You Deserve” ft. a guest solo from Ian Mumble (Overthrow). Each of the nine tracks on the album is a shot of adrenaline in the veins of old-school punk rock and hardcore that take heavy riffs and slam them into relevant lyrics that you’ll want to sing along with. The single is directed to those who are always talking shit but never do anything:

“Your once proud moment is all in the past, what have you done all these years?” – the band comments further:

“Instead of writing more technical and trying to be complicated, we took the opposite approach and focused on the riffs, having strong catchy riffs was important to us, we were never worried about song lengths or slowing down, or having a soft mellow part in the middle section like most bands do… these songs are deliberately short and intense to capture the anger and hate in the mood of the songs… to keep the pace relentless… an execution to the songs with a “no compromise” attitude”. This should appeal to most fans of music I’ve done in the past, whether it be Overthrow, Soulstorm, or Tribe of Pazuzu… I feel it still retains my writing style while also expressing another facet/feel of my writing… my writing has always been on the darker side with anger and hate mixed in for attitude… I want to bring that back to punk and metal, the hate, anger, fire… relentless fast music.”

Vocalist/bassist Nick Sagias started NDC in 2018 after ending his previous band Soulstorm. This new effort should appeal to most fans of music he’s done in the past, whether it be Overthrow, Soulstorm, or Tribe of Pazuzu. He feels that it still retains his writing style while also expressing another facet of his creativity, it’s still dark and full of anger and hate mixed in for attitude. He channels that into his punk and metal hate, anger, fire… relentless fast music that is recommended for fans of early DRI, early Bad Brains, and Nails.

The music video for “You Get What You Deserve” can be seen and heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

Nihilist Death Cult‘s album “Death To All Tyrants” is due out on December 2, 2022.

Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON Comment On World Events w/ New Music Video “A Time of War”

New Album “Downfall” Out Now! via Moribund Records

Canadian melodic power thrashers Triskelyon have a new music video to share for their track “A Time of War” off their debut album “Downfall” released on October 28th via Moribund Records. With “Downfall”, Triskelyon deliver an amazing headbanging album that harkens back to the old-school days of such luminaries as Forbidden, Agent Steel, Sentinel Beast, Détente, Overkill, and Testament. The album was mixed/mastered by Michael Small with the post-apocalyptic cover art by IvaanMR11.

“A Time of War” can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/nyb07v69iPk

Band founder Geoff Waye adds about the hard-hitting speed-moshing track:

“As someone who watches world events with endless wars and conflicts, pandemics, ignorance, and radical left/right division, it’s something that impacted the album and its title. The song “A Time of War” is a part of that, and not surprisingly, is about war and partially about the deplorable ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Not only is it about that terrible event, but is also about how the rich oligarchs around the world, whether they be from Russia, or a western country, never really suffer when wars happen, they always profit while the rest of us pay the price, and for some, they pay that price with their very lives.“

Founded by Geoff Waye, guitarist for Artach and Category VI, Triskelyon was conceived in late 2021 as a studio-only project. By January 2022, the band featuring contributions from vocalists Pete Healey and Marlee Ryley (Hyperia), along with drum programming by Raul Marques (Burning Torment) made their introduction to the metal world with a 3-track self-titled EP.

Composed and written mostly by Geoff Waye, with drum programming provided by Raul Marques, “Downfall” sees the band’s next evolution as their first full length and it utilizes a myriad of both male and female guest vocalists from Oberon, Hyperia, Catagory VI and Incidium. “Downfall” has a range and depth of sound unique in today’s modern thrash metal scene, setting the band ahead and apart from the hordes of young new acts. Triskelyon also features guest bass appearances from members of Afterforever and Category VI, making Triskelyon a veritable supergroup of the Canadian metal scene.

Depicting a nature taking over post-apocalyptic view of our ever-screwed-up world, Triskelyon keeps with 80’s thrash tradition employing world-ending yet self-empowering socially conscious lyrical themes. From straight-up 80’s thrashers like “Odyssey (Blessed by Steel)”, to the power metal laced “Find A Way”, and more anthemic thrash tracks such as “Hunger” and “Willful Ignorance”, “Downfall” is sure to satiate even the most discriminating old-school and modern thrash metal fan alike! The album even features a unique and thrashing rendition of the Billy Idol song “Nobody’s Business”.

“This was one of my anticipated albums this year as the EP wet my whistle but was far from being enough to satisfy my metal hunger. Hopefully this is not a one off because this is one of the most unique projects to come across my radar in a long time. I’m curious to see where Mr. Waye takes this project next. We shall see. In the meantime…get this album, you’ll thank me for it!” – Metal-Rules

“The highlight of the opening trio is the rampaging “Odyssey (Blessed By Steel)” which finds Marlee Ryley of Hyperia in fine form. Waye is on the rampage with a collection of frenetic riffs and the result is an adrenaline rush of a song that really gets things going. “A Time of War” then finds Triskelyon in Megadeth territory minus the trademark snarl of Dave Mustaine for what can only be described as a classic Thrash anthem… All in all, there is plenty to enjoy here, especially if you’re a lover of the mighty riff ” – Metal Noise

“Thrash Metal with melody, good arrangements and multiple voices.” – PowerMetal.de

“Power-Thrash equipped with murderous riffs on a technically first-class level with changeable exciting vocal variability, at times also surrounded by a dark atmosphere.” – FFM-Rock

“Most of the songs on here are fast and furious, such as “Balance of Terror” with its Hanneman/King-esque riffing, the skull-piercing “Odyssey (Blessed by Steel)” and the powerful “A Time of War,” though they do slow down a bit on the moody march of “Find a Way” while still remaining heavy as all hell… Triskelyon don’t reinvent the wheel of Power/Thrash, but they sure know how to keep it spinning, and that makes Downfall worth giving a spin of its own.” – The Metal Crypt

Canadian thrashers Korrosive announce they will be unleashing CDs, cassettes and vinyl of their latest album “Toxic Apokalypse” via CDN Records. CDs will be due out on November 18th, with cassettes and vinyl for release in 2023 (release to be announced at a later date). The full-length was released digitally on October 7th of this year.

Korrosive is from Toronto, ON that is in your face, unapologetic, and is definitely one that offers a high-octane headbanging experience, unlike anything you’ve heard before as they explore and push the boundaries of thrash metal with extreme influences.

“We want to be a thrash metal band that combines the elements of thrash in its roots, but also breaks down walls by incorporating various influences from grind and death, or whatever comes to mind to mix it up.” says vocalist Rad Zarei.

Their new album “Toxic Apokalypse” follows their first full-length 2021’s “Kaustic Hordes” and the 2019 EP “Melting from Within”. Featuring eight assaulting bangers, each song on the album is quite different in a way from each other, and yet, still uniquely Korrosive. They push each track with speed and extremity, from ‘Fatal Strike’ that has a ton of blast beats and solos, yet is still unmistakably thrash, to ‘Radioaktive Scourge’, filled with pure aggression, unlike anything they’ve released before.

“Diabolical, fast, unforgiving armageddon.

Lyrically, the music sets the overall tone for how the lyrics are written and substance. Songs deal with topics of science fiction, armageddon, and “what if” scenarios. The album art was created by the infamous Ed Repka (Dark Angel, Death, Hirax, Megadeth, Suicidal Angels, Venom).

“Typically, the way we write songs is to have each song done or be in the middle of the writing process, and I would create something out of that. It is rare for us that lyrics get written first before the song is made,” adds Zarei.

One thing that the mosh pit can always expect from Korrosive is the energy they bring to their shows.

“I always think of a show, regardless of venue, as a performance that is meant to capture the crowd. And as a band, Korrosive always exudes that level of intensity during our shows.”

Recommended for fans of Sodom, Kreator, Death, and Sepultura, “Toxic Apokalypse” was produced by Ben Erikson with mastering done by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator, Cro-Mags, Municipal Waste, Soulfly).

0 Step Into A Vast Progressive Metal World With THE WRING’s “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann Off New Album “Spectra” Out Dec 2022 via WormHoleDeath Records

Montreal, QC – November 4, 2022

Step Into A Vast Progressive Metal World With THE WRING’s “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann

New Album “Spectra” Out Dec 16th, 2022 via WormHoleDeath Records

Canada’s The Wring is gearing up to release a third album “Spectra” next month, which promises to be an assertive mix of different styles including hard rock, jazz, metal, classical, 80’s rock, 70’s rock, and probably a few other things. Solo artist Don Dewulf had the idea and with the help of accomplished musicians, the project has been brought to life. The next piece they are sharing is the single “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann, which Dewulf outlines:

“This song is about the debilitating need for social media attention and validation. The blade goes in and you never even feel it, then you slowly bleed out. The verses are in 5/8 and ⅞ creating a somewhat jarring effect, and also speaking to the theme. Chandler does a killer job on the chorus vocal and there is a very peculiar odd-time breakdown before the solo. Very fun song to play.”

He also comments that “Spectra” is a bit like a 1970’s King Crimson album, but without any ethereal soliloquies and certainly with a more significant hard rock/metal influence. Compared to last year’s full-length “Project Cipher”, this new offering carries on in the same tradition and headspace, but the songs are fuller and cohesive.

The album got its name because Dewulf feels that it really touches on a wide range of musical styles and themes. The mixes are very layered with a lot of detail; you can listen to it many times and still continue to pick out intricacies and small details each time.

Dewulf is writing constantly as he always has a lot of ideas to flesh out and bring to the ears of listeners around the world. He has no intentions of stopping soon, so fans of “Spectra” should keep an eye out for new music. The Wring is recommended for fans of King Crimson, Dream Theater, and Opeth.

The music video for “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann can be seen and heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

““Wring² Project Cipher comes with a heavy, classic rock feel, but there’s an epic, questing nature to tunes like Sorceress, Steelier and Dose that pushes The Wring beyond metal norms and into prog territory.” – Prog Magazine

“The extreme professionalism on display throughout this entire album, although a labour of love, is a true master class of musicianship performed by musicians who are truly at the top of their game, making the industry what it is today. The sheer attention to detail is a credit to each and every performer as they tailor their craft neatly and precisely throughout every track, with nothing less than perfect being the order of the day.” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Overall, the entire album is laden with a rich tapestry of sound and lyrics, well thought out and carefully developed by founder member and visionary Don Dewulf, taking the listener on that perfect journey of thought, and is a credit to its makers gathering no dust in any collection. 10/10” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Thanks to his renowned session musicians and original compositions, The Wring is a refreshing discovery that offers a personal reading of modern metal. 4/5” – Music Waves

“What sounds at first to be a straight-forward rock album, turns out to be so much more. It’s a tad short, but sometimes less is more. You can hear many influences in these tracks, some of them familiar, but The Wring have stamped their own identity all over it. This should keep you going for the time being but expect more from Don Dewulf with The Wring3 already in the recording stage!” – The Prog Space

“Dewulf’s guitar work shines throughout, at times reminiscent of Alex Lifeson in his prime, such as his powerful solo on ‘Steelier’ which soars above the raging musical maelstrom below. There’s even a funk-infused breakout on ‘Dose’, which is infectious with its driving hook. It’s an absorbing record, one that takes time to soak in, but several plays ensure that it’s burnt deep into the memory. When those end-of-year lists come round, ‘Wring² Project Cipher’ is likely to be pushing for a slot.” – The Razor’s Edge

“The Wring generally succeed at what they’re going for—Dewulf has produced a fun, catchy record. Particularly on the album’s middle section (“Cipher,” “Steelier” and “Dissension”), there’s some great songs with great riffs. If you’re after some new prog, you could do a lot worse than this album, and I found it quite hard to score.” – Angry Metal Guy

“The overall sound is something like the heavier side of Rush, with hooks and melodic elements smoothing out the guitar crunch, making this very accessible.” – The Progressive Aspect
