Western Canada’s loudest open air metal festival FARMAGEDDON is proud to announce this year’s line up for its third annual 2015 edition in Ryley, AB (80 KM East of Edmonton) from June 11-14.

Farmageddon Open Air organizer Tyson Travnik comments:

“I can’t express enough, just how excited we are to present this year’s lineup. We truly feel that Farmageddon is being recognized for the international and Canadian talent fans get to experience during an intimate setting while in Alberta’s back hills. We focus hard on bringing people’s favorite bands to the festival that very rarely make an appearance in Western Canada, and I feel that we’ve hit the nail on the head for 2015.”

This year’s line up features headliners Grim Reaper from the UK, American bands Pallbearer and Incantation plus Canadians Into Eternity and Archspire along with many support bands from Western Canada.

About:

Farmageddon Open- Air was conceived in 2012 by Tyson Travnik whom is recognized in the Alberta metal scene through sound engineering duties and promotional services. After noticing the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Travnik wanted to re-create the intimate setting and host a festival with no internal borders in the Edmonton area.

After two very successful years, Farmageddon Open Air has proven to be one of the most prestigious metal open-air festivals in Canada with quality production that has been highly regarded by bands and patrons alike. The festival falls into a special category with Travnik setting goals of bringing in top-shelf bands that rarely, if ever play Canada. The costs of doing so are reflected in the ticket price with maximum attendance numbers not being something on the agenda. Keeping an intimate setting between the bands and their fans along with growth of the metal sub-culture to aid in promoting some of the hardest working bands in the country is at the forefront of Farmageddon’s priority.

Each year, the festival has hosted over 30 bands, with the request reaching as far as Europe and Asia. Farmageddon prides itself in only selecting the bands that the organizers feel have proven themselves worthy of the festival. This is not based on show attendance figures, but rather by judging the work ethic of the band throughout the previous year. With many new features and additions planned for Farmageddon 2015, organizers are pushing forward to double the attendance numbers from 2014.

2014 Line Up included:
Havok, Wretched, Dark Forest, Sanktuary, Psychotic Gardening, Death Toll Rising, Tyrant’s Demise, Eyam, Without Mercy, Scimitar, Scythia, Vile Insignia, Kyoktys, Gatekrashor, , Kryosphere, Eye Of Horus, Mortillery, Ironstorm, Moosifix, Bloated Pig, Armifera, Witch Of The Waste, Monarch Sky, Druidus, Skymir, Hazzerd, Cryptosis, Gales Of Avalon, Mongol, Riot City, Display Of Decay, After Earth, Demise Without Reason, Grendel’s Awakening, Last Horizon, Idolatry, Bleed

About:

Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.

“Nerds from our great neighbors from the North can rock!  Double XP is a lot more than a couple of gamers with instruments.  Their upcoming album goes to show that gamers really do have feelings, and they are not ashamed to talk about em!” Royal Flush Magazine

“Their debut album “721835” consists of a fairly ballsy bunch of well-written alternative rock ‘n’ roll songs with cheeky riffs and ambitious vocal melodies. The lyrics might very well have been inspired by nerdy things and contain plenty of references that can be cherished by fellow nerds, but at the same time they are written in a way that succeeds in communicating extremely relatable feelings and experiences.” – Rock Freaks

“They’re a quartet who embrace their nerdy credentials, and luckily for those who may be concerned also know how to knock out some chunky riffs and melody lines.” – Screamer Magazine

“I recommend checking out “721835” if you enjoy rock music, Fall Out Boy, or simply love the combination of music and gaming/comic books/trading cards/etc.” – Canadian Beats

“Good songwriters…I think [Double Experience] are next. They’re going to do very well and I’m very excited about that.” – Jayson DeZuzio, producer (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Four Year Strong)

“The most genuine and down to earth band I’ve ever had to work with, load-in and sound checks were quick and easy with this bunch and they are some of the most hard working guys we as a venue have ever had the pleasure of the working with. Having traveled so far, and never played Swansea… prior to the show we were very unsure as to which way the event would turnout. But sure enough, [the band] did not disappoint. Playing to a pretty full room of Welsh fans singing and dancing along, throwing in a cover by Queen to really get them going. As a promoter and venue owner, I would recommend booking this band to anyone in the world, they definitely will not disappoint.” – William Sheldon, Promoter & Venue Owner – Static Bar, Swansea UK

“It’s rare that a band like Double Experience come along so we’re going to cherish them while they can still call themselves an ‘upcoming’ band because it won’t be long before they’re playing sold out massive shows. Great band, highly recommended.” – Andrew Dutton, Promoter – The Square, Harlow UK

About:

Taking their name from a Clive Barker short story and shifting gears from jazz (which most of the members studied at Vancouver Island University) to progressive metal, the band combine poly-metric grooves, aggressive screams and soaring vocal melodies to push the boundaries of modern metal music with technically impressive musicianship to follow up their 2011 debut album ‘All Too Human’ (also available for free download at the following link http://thebodypolitic.bandcamp.com/). Their emotionally charged songs incorporate an element of playfulness that has lead THE BODY POLITIC to stand out in a vast metal crowd and to perform opening slots for Tesseract, Protest The Hero and Scale The Summit plus multiple Western Canadian tours with their evolution.

“The Body Politic share a similar desire to take their art in new directions. Opening track “Vitam Agere” is the perfect intro to the EP, short ,modern and original, and something that would work well in film soundtrack. Second track “Armature” shows the band to be technically adroit but not at the expense of song-writing. “All Hands” mixes precision with power, while “Swing For The Fences” shows The Body Politic are very much making music for the 21st century. “Colqhoun” has a raw power to match its melodies. Finishing with the fine “Irradiate,” it’s clear that The Body Politic are a band with the potential to cross over to a wide audience indeed.” – Hellbound

“Watch these prog-metal masters as they rip through “Armature,” a song off of the band’s forthcoming self-released EP, Egressor… If you’re into the likes of Periphery and Protest The Hero, this song will most certainly get your blood flowing. And in all the right directions, you dig?” – Gunshy Assassin

“The Body Politic combines staccato rhythms with catchy vocal melodies and blends them in a killer progressive metal package. “Egressor” their new six song EP is a short but extensive slice of modern metal…The production on “Egressor” is top notch and the musicianship…there is no denying that “Egressor” is a great album…Go get your grubby little hands on The Body Politic’s Egressor” – Extreme Metal Television.

“The feverish energy and charisma that floats through your speakers while you listen to Egressor will leave you enlightened with a sense of purpose and motivation.”- Damnation Mag

“Wow! Yes, this is what I said, when I started listening to The Body Politic, as their latest ep “Egressor” comes at you like a locomotive engine, yet puts you at ease with their melodic vocals and melodic guitars.” – Explictly Intense

“technical brilliance. This is an EP of six cuts that slash twenty minutes long that brings together all the ingredients for modern and advanced metal.” – Noizz Webzine

“These guys show an uncanny understanding of how to balance disparate elements into a cohesive, pleasing whole. In fact, for an unsigned band, their ability is beyond exceptional and surpasses that of many signed acts. . . This band has a real chance to become a leader in the progressive metal field.” – Mike Korn, ReviewYou

“All Too Human shows off the whole band’s abilities, with futuristic sounds and some obviously talented musicians, they’re already way ahead of some of their contemporaries.” – Emma Newlyn, Indie Music Reviewer

“The Body Politic deliver an incredible live performance; you’ll be groovin’ and throwing down before you know it. . . With the perfect mix of hard rock and progressive metal, the songs off their latest album, All Too Human are irresistible attention-getters.” – Clayton Rourke, The Minds Eye

“A magnificent beast . . . something much more than your everyday progressive rock band.”  – Wonderful, Bravo! Review

“All Too Human is all in all a solid album. A strong debut that showcases TBP’s talent and diversity . . . it’s a good thing when I hear every sonic element perfectly balanced on a record.” – MusicEmissions.com

“Make no mistake, these are virtuoso musicians, mind boggling performers and very, VERY funny dudes to hang out with at a party. I’m serious. They tell jokes.” – The Soundbox Recording Studio

About:

Kryosphere at its core has always maintained strong connections with an old-school Death Metal sound, while embracing the new ideas of their younger peers. In short, they are a modern death metal band that knows how to draw a crowd across the massive gulf of metal fans.

Formed in 2008 by drummer Brent Bell (ex-Spawned by Rot, ex-Butcher’d) with line changes through its early years, Kryosphere finally solidified an identity with Brent Bell on drums, Stephanie Bell on bass, Dave Waram on guitar, and Davis Hay on vocals. Their debut EP “At Six Feet” was unleashed in 2011 and followed by their 2013 self-release EP “SOL”.

Great attention has been placed on song writing, and it shows on. The uniquely structured music of “SOL” has memorable riffs that are often lacking in today’s metal. Soaring solos and powerful vocals accompany thick bang along sections, while thumping bass drives the overall feeling of every song. Inventive and technical drumming steer the band through multiple time changes and differing movements.

– 30 –

“…the percussion underscores everything with rolling thunder, and the song includes hammering rhythms and a nice melodic hook shooting through the skin-flaying riffage…” – No Clean Singing review of At Six Feet EP

“Kryosphere are a seriously tight knit band, every single member on point. Because they are a four-piece with no lead guitarist, they are extremely rhythmic and are able to really play heavily…” -Crown of Viserys Live Review from Farmageddon 2014.
