New England’s Fathom Farewell has been going strong since 2014, and although the past lineups can almost be described as a cautionary tale of what can happen when you play music for the wrong reasons, the current lineup, according to founder and guitarist Alex Cohen, is the absolute pinnacle of hard-working intellectuals he’s been searching for since beginning the band. This lineup will now be offering fans the EP “Kraken” on October 22nd via Blood Blast Distribution and the third single “In Time” is out now at the following links:

YouTube: https://youtu.be/NdvLXweK2mI
Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3o1OxCz

Instrumentally, the single “In Time” is a fun, catchy, bouncy good time. Lyrically, it is about the discrepancies in how people treat each other in modern society, but also is a commentary on how they are treated by those who feel mistreated.  The band explains further:

“There is a vicious cycle at play keeping us at each other’s throats, greedily working against anyone outside our direct circle in many cases, not because they are malicious but because they’ve been brainwashed to believe their fight for survival is frantic.  For some, it very well is absolutely, but there are many who carry these anxiety weights with them through each day with no relief.  In the song, we suggest that if we can find it in ourselves to understand we are all the same thing simply living different experiences, then we can find harmony.”

Compared to other bands, Fathom Farewell prides itself on being a tighter band than most and going harder than most, all while maintaining a balance of technicality and feel. Their sound is complimented by high energy and an unwavering comprehension of how to present professional chops on each instrument.

Fathom Farewell brings a new edge to metalcore and is recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, and Coheed & Cambria.

“Kraken” will be out on October 22, 2021 via Blood Blast Distribution.

About:
Fathom Farewell brings depth to the rock/metal genre beyond the confines of its articulate instrumentation and vocal presence. Addressing topics from humanity and its relationships to the grave consequences human nature causes our world, frontman Alex Cohen demands through his delivery that each listener lend a close ear and a willingness toward self-reflection.  This fiery passion results in a refined rock act with the potential to be the voice of change, but with the live thrill and precision of a modern heavy metal act. In conjunction with exceptional work ethic and persistence, it’s no wonder the band has swiftly made a name for itself throughout New England, having earned the opportunities to support Sevendust’s 20th-anniversary tour, along with area dates with Issues, The Devil Wears Prada, Volumes, I Prevail, Currents, and many more.  The band has also performed four times at the Vans Warped Tour in MA since forming in 2014, three times at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and made appearances at Rock and Shock Festival. Following the release of the 2019 “Consume The Earth” EP, the band has accrued over 100k streams across Spotify and Apple Music.  Bolstered by recent additions to the newly completed lineup and with upcoming new material produced by Chris Piquette (Trophy Wives/Riviera), with assistance from Extreme Management Group, Fathom Farewell aims to support this release with vigorous touring and marketing in hopes of carrying awareness of its message to the rest of its home country and eventually to the world, as all of “this planet is our home”.

Now with three EPs under their belt over four years “Consume The Earth” (2019), “Decomposition” (2017), Drowning Limits (2015), the band is ready to present their next EP entitled “Kraken” on October 22nd, 2021 via Blood Blast Distribution.

What the press is saying:

“New England melodic metalcore band Fathom Farewell have been around longer than you think, with a handful of EPs to their name since their 2015 debut EP. The band have supported bands like Sevendust and The Devil Wears Prada in the past, just to name a few, and their upcoming Kraken EP contains some of their best material to date.”- New Fury Media

“The immediate impact and versatile clean to scream ability from vocalist Alex Cohen pushes Fathom Farewell out above the hordes – the man has some serious pipes ready for the challenge, forceful and commanding while confidently holding out key notes during the verses and choruses to make “Six Feet Beneath” and “Wide Awake” instant appealers.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The Boston quartet have emerged from within the melodic metalcore scene but as the six tracks within their latest offering shows, their sound is a far more adventurous and varied blend of metal and melodic rock enterprise.” – The Ringmaster Review

“Holy vocals! Worcester based Fathom Farewell have just released “Consume the Earth”, and it’s blowing our minds…  Palpably driven, passionate, and sharing messages close to their heart, “Consume the Earth” is an impressive invitation to listen to Fathom Farewell.” – Depth Magazine

“Fathom Farewell: One of the fastest rising stars” – Permafrost Today

“Featuring six tracks of high-energy and emotionally-driven modern hard rock/metal, the EP shows why Fathom Farewell are one of the fastest rising stars in the melodic metalcore scene.” – Moshville Times

Fathom Farewell is melodic metalcore hailing from New England, USA. They have a fourth EP coming out this year, the much anticipated “Kraken” and they are introducing it with the crushing single “Eulogy”. The band shares some insight into what is, instrumentally, the heaviest song they have ever written:

“Lyrically this song is entirely about what can happen when someone with mental health issues goes far too long without getting help.  The first verse describes desperate cries for help dampened by a great deal of self doubt and anxiety.  The second verse delves into the aggression and sadness that can develop and the third and final verse (breakdown) ultimately delves into the deterioration of the person due to a lack of assistance.”

The EP “Kraken” is a series of waves from start to finish varying in intensity, grit and feel from song to song, with the intention of leaving the listener feeling as though the mythological ocean beast has taken them on a wild and terrifying ride through their emotions toward a place of inner reflection and peace.

To the band, the name Fathom Farewell means either a watery grave or contemplating goodbye. The content of the songs is in many ways metaphorical so this name is an ironic description of the mind drifting to the place where it allows them to believe that giving up is acceptable when in their hearts they know it isn’t.

Over the years, Fathom Farewell has definitely made a name for themselves having shared the stage with bands such as Sevendust, Devil Wears Prada, AFI and Hatebreed and played at festivals including Van’s Warped Tour and New England Metal and Hardcore Fest.

This precise blend of melody and heavy is suitable for all metalcore fans, especially those with an interest in Northlane, Killswitch Engage, and August Burns Red.

The lyric video for “Eulogy” can watched and heard via its premiere on NewFuryMedia HERE.

“Kraken” will be out on October 22, 2021.

EP Out April 20, 2021

Windsor’s Devilz by Definition is a band that has been recreated many times in the past decade, and the current iteration is gearing up to drop a new EP “The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption” on Tuesday, April 20th.

Before it’s officially released, the band has teamed up with TheCirclePit for the EP’s full stream premiere HERE.

The band adds:

“This EP represents the world we live in and the changes that are tearing us apart as individuals and as a race. It is also about the unity that music brings into this darkness. The premise of the single is that the pieces of ourselves that sometimes get lost along the way and the effort of putting them back together Peace by Piece. In essence, life is a puzzle and we are all the pieces”

After honing their skills with a full length and two EPs, Devilz by Definition has come into their own, and “The Bitter Remains” is by far the most refined music they’ve ever created. Its insidious groove permeates the brain to get feet tapping and heads banging. Compared to previous efforts, this EP is heavier, groovier, and more technical, which will leave fans hungry for another.

“The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption” delivers an unforgettable experience of headbanging, grooving thrash, and face-melting guitar solos. The lyrics are memorable and easily relatable, bringing forth a message or sense of morality in their music.

About:
Initially formed in 2010, Windsor, Canada’s Devilz by Definition is a band reborn many times, in many ways, and has always come back stronger and heavier than the last time. No obstacle has stood in their path to date and none will, these are driven and hard-working musicians with a passion for the live show. Their energy both on and off the stage is unique and captivating.

The formation of the band happened completely by accident. Popz Munro was just learning how to play guitar and jamming with friend Timguy when they decided to add more friends to the gang. After a couple of months, they were offered a show and they fell in love with performing live music. Since then they have shared the stage with bands such as The Faceless, Revocation, Cryptopsy, and Beyond Creation and appeared at several regional festivals.

With a constant revolving door of members and instrumental position changes, the band has changed drastically over the last decade. From punk/thrash in the early years to more of a refined metalcore/groove sound in recent releases.

Since their inception, Devilz by Definition have released two EPs, “Blood Drawn” (2010), and “Rape of a Czar” (2014); a full length “The Devilution” (2016) and have another EP “The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption” expected in 2021.

“the Groove Metal crowd will eat this up ” – Metal Temple

“The self-described groove metal group deliver a brutally heavy but epic sound throuighout their latest release. ‘The Bitter Remains’ is a stirring tune and this energy steps up again in standout track ‘Peace by Piece’. Finishing with a grand climax is ‘Time Is Near’ which showcases a theatrical sound akin to past closing tracks from Lamb of God and Parway Drive. A short but sweet heavy metal booster!” 4/5″ – RAMzine

“‘The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption’ ” it’s worth to check out ‘The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption’. Groove meets riffs meets heaviness, that’s the world of Devilz By Definition. 8/10″ – Markus’ Heavy Music Blog

“This is the sound of a band on fire and in one hell of a groove. Rolling drums, energetic guitars and vocals delivered in a deep growl, is sometimes all you need. Especially when they are put together in such a fine package as this track is. A hard hitting track (Peace By Piece) both lyrically and musically.” – Backseat Mafia

“Devilz By Definition creates the kind of heavy powerhouse that fans of the style will love in a heartbeat. This is highly recommended metal – don’t miss it.” – Real Gone Rocks

Windsor’s Devilz by Definition is a band that has been recreated many times in the past decade, and the current iteration is gearing up to drop a new EP “The Bitter Remains of Human Consumption”. The initial tease from this release is the single “Peace by Piece”, a four and a half minute, groove-heavy track that boasts thrashy licks and catchy lyrics.

The band prides itself on bringing forth a message or sense of morality in their music, evident in the single, which relates to mental health awareness. The band explains it in their own words:

“the Groove Metal crowd will eat this up ” – Metal Temple

“They pulled in the most crowd response of any group who performed that night, encouraging moshing and headbanging from those assembled. The band members themselves were all over the stage, hair flying and scowls shooting from every direction. Devilz also introduced the audience to a new track entitled “Trainwreck“, which opens with a very well-performed imitation of a locomotive picking up speed before getting into some surprisingly funky riffs and ultimately flowing into the expected heavy metal sound.” – Metal Nation (Live Review 2018)

“Devilz By Definition have certainly made a name for themselves in the local scene. They are known for fast paced, tight, super energetic shows, this group of hardcore thrashers make a party out of every performance.” – Windsorite

“These guys seemingly came out of nowhere last year and have mercilessly released their aggression on the metal masses of Windsor like a war between thunder gods with M60′s. They’ve come a long way and have kept a loyalty to a lot of the other bands that came up with them, playing a lot of same bills to help raise awareness for a lot of up and coming bands and giving them some great exposure.”  – The Windsor Zene

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 27, 2020

For fans of August Burns Red, Wage War, Currents, Meshuggah

Blackcast Premiere Music Video “The American Dream” via The Circle Pit

Blackcast, hailing from San Diego, California has a new single out, “The American Dream” complete with a video being premiered on The Circle Pit‘s Youtube channel HERE.

This single is proof that Blackcast is still able to bring the heavy sound and message that they have come to be known for. With a new lineup, they are continuing to deliver the breakdowns the fans love with added technical aspects and lyrics that are controversial and relatable. The band explains the theme behind the topical new single:

“Our new single, ‘The American Dream’ is about the struggles of immigrants and their journey in getting to the USA. You will hear about the struggles that one may experience during that hard journey that unfortunately gets overlooked sometimes.”

For fans of August Burns Red, Architects and As I Lay Dying, this is solid metalcore with a tinge of deathcore.

“The American Dream” is officially available for stream and download on Spotify and Apple Music.

About:

In 2015, in the heat of San Diego, USA, Blackcast started as a 6 piece band featuring two vocalists, 2 guitarists (Dany Khouli and Armand Guerra), a bassist (Hakeem Kelly) and a drummer (Richard Bocanegra). Along the way, there was a falling out with our first 2 vocalists and Blackcast became stagnant until the arrival of vocalist, Tyler Walters, who helped push the band to where it needed to go.

Blackcast was soon able to play alongside big bands such as Born of Osiris, Atilla, Hatebreed, Bleeding Through, Spite, and Bad Omens. For two years they played gig after gig and released two albums, their self-titled debut in 2016 and “Riches to Ruin” in 2017. After that album, life situations and creative differences saw the departure of all the members except for Bocanegra and Guerra. They were replaced by Montgomery Turel (guitar), Luis Perea (vocals), and Richard Orozco (bass).

The new lineup quickly released four banging singles “Against The World” (2018), “Buried Alive” (2019), “Brain Dead” (2019) and “The American Dream” (2020). They are on a roll and can’t wait to show that they are stronger than ever and ready to prove that they still can make ears bleed and heads bang!

Ambition is high, Blackcast has been zoning in on being heavy and dark with all the breakdowns you can handle, and then some. There is more in the works for this collaborative band; focusing on keeping their sound consistent and technical, fans can expect nothing but sheer energy delivered straight to their faces during performances.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 30, 2019

For fans of Thy Art Is Murder, Whitechapel, Despised Icon, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive

Return To High School Angst With DEATH NOTE SILENCE’s New Video ‘Forgotten’

Canada’s DEATH NOTE SILENCE is hitting hard with their latest video, for the track ‘Forgotten’. This high impact, full throttle music video is complete with deep gutturals, accented with well-timed breakdowns and clean guitar harmonies that prove DEATH NOTE SILENCE is the next up and coming band in the underground Canadian metal scene.

‘Forgotten’ is off the self-titled EP that was released October 18, 2018, which followed the 2016 album “Code of Silence”. The band explains the meaning behind the song:

“This song is talking about someone put aside in high school. Someone that went through it, had it the hard way but made his way through it. You can feel the hate, unity and a sense of accomplishment.”

Moving forward, DEATH NOTE SILENCE provides a massive wall of sound that is more mature lyrically, but retains a touch of teen angst and is energetic and heavily complimented with gang vocals that engage the audience.

Fans of Despised Icon, Breakdown of Sanity and Whitechapel will find enjoyable similarities between those bands and the new upcomers DEATH NOTE SILENCE.

About:

Edmonton’s own Protosequence offer a rush of groovy guitar parts met with story-filled lyrics and serene, landscape-sized instrumentals that roll like hills into a valley.

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph McKee (vocals), and Ryan Schaffler (ex-bassist) who is now replaced by Jacob Teeple. Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band draws influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a foothold on their influences, they root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums, and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing. Each live performance is crafted like an album played from front to back, with each song bearing a story and painting the room like a canvas — leaving the colours and experiences on each audience member.

The band will be releasing their new EP “Biophagous” on August 18th, 2017 to follow their 2016 debut EP “Schizophrene”.

“Edmonton’s Protosequence perform an agile balancing act on the new song “Shepherd” we’re bringing you from their forthcoming EP, Biophagus, a high-wire performance that deftly straddles a stylistic divide without ever losing their path forward.” No Clean Singing

“In the vein of bands like All Shall Perish & Born of Osiris, Protosequence kick proceedings off with the furiously tech riffing of Parasitic, a wild & untamed slab of death metal. That is until a surprising tempo change that brings in some keyboards & more classic metal sounding guitar solo. It’s a damn strong start, one that leaves you wondering just what more Biophagous has to offer.” – Games, Braaaiiins And A Headbanging Life

“Protosequence is an act of quality over quantity.  I get seriously lost in their music, be it through a spine-damaging headbanging session (“DFL”) or stretch of melodic introspection (“Shepherd”).  Biophagous offers up another nice showcase of the band’s skill across a variety of substyles and paces.” – Metal Trenches

“Protosequence takes the insane melodic riffage of metalcore bands like August Burns Red or Novelists, and mixes them with tech death elements of bands like The Black Dahlia Murder which makes for what I think could be a band that has the potential to break through and make it huge…Biophagus is of another caliber, every aspect of it is flawless, and will not only be in my playlist but should be in everyone else’s as well. Whatever you do, do not sleep on this band. Make sure you pick up Biophagus when it releases August 18th! ” – Blood Rock Media

“Incorporating elements from deathcore, technical death metal, and, yes, even djent, Protosequence manages to maintain the listener’s interest while developing an identity that is not only unique to Canada, but to the world. ” – It Djents

“Traversing between djent and technical progressive metal” – Somberlane

Drawing influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder, PROTOSEQUENCE root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing.  Their latest EP “Biophagous” was unleashed this past August to follow their 2016 debut “Schizophrene”.

Teaming up with Sick Drummer Magazine, PROTOSEQUENCE‘s drummer Logan Vars is showcasing his pounding force and technicality with a new playthrough for the band’s track “Shepherd”.

Vars comments:

“Shepherd is the most melodic and “pretty” song off our latest EP “Biophagous”. It’s also the most groove oriented. Starting out mellow, and coming to a climax near the end; I absolutely love playing this song. Probably the easiest Protosequence song as far as drums go. I use this as a warm up to get me started. It’s a nice low stress, high energy song to play along to. Once again, I’d like to thank Nick and Andrew from Nick Laird Videography, and Echo Tree Audio, respectively, for all their hard work on the video. I also want to thank my band mates Joe, Parker, Kyle, and Jacob for being such handsome gentlemen, Cara for being so amazing, and Sick Drummer for premiering this video.  This video is filmed in one take (2 cameras on tripods, and one handheld) with no sample replacing and no editing. Thanks for the support, go tell your dog that you love him/her. “
