ASHEN HORDE Announces New Album “The Harvest” Out May 2026; Unveil Music Video “Entropy and Ecstasy”

Los Angeles extreme‑metal shapeshifters Ashen Horde return on May 1st, 2026, with “The Harvest”, their fifth full‑length album and the first to feature new vocalist Karl Chamberlain (Putrefier, Alcyone, Necrotic Remains). Known for weaving black metal, death metal, prog, and 90s‑inspired grit into something unmistakably their own, Ashen Horde push their sound further than ever, embracing melody, chaos, and sharp contrasts across eight thematically linked tracks.

Alongside the album announcement, Ashen Horde have unveiled the first single, “Entropy and Ecstasy”, a whirlwind of jagged riffs, angular Voivod‑like progressions, and Chamberlain’s soaring, chilling vocal hooks. The accompanying video represents a major milestone for the band: despite recording the entire album remotely, this is the first time the members have appeared together on camera.

The first preview to the album, “Entropy and Ecstasy,” captures the album’s core idea: finding exhilaration in collapse. The song follows a couple who thrive on the chaos of a world falling apart, a concept Portz admits was likely sparked by the early COVID lockdowns.

Guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz recalls being floored by Chamberlain’s audition:

“I sent him a demo of ‘Entropy and Ecstasy’ with unfinished lyrics, and he sent back his take. His vocals on the line ‘how can we thrive if we expect to survive?’ still give me chills.”

“The Harvest” marks a turning point for Ashen Horde. After a decade as a studio‑driven project, the band is preparing to play its first‑ever live shows in May, coinciding with the album’s release. It’s also the first full‑length to feature Chamberlain, whose dynamic range helped reshape the band’s sonic identity.

While Ashen Horde’s previous four albums were tightly constructed concept records, “The Harvest” takes a different approach. Each track stands alone, yet all orbit the idea of endings, personal, societal, historical, and cosmic.

“I didn’t have a single story this time, but the lyrics kept circling reactions to things ending. From societal collapse to ancient rituals to the last days of Pompeii, everything tied together naturally,” explains Portz.

Musically, the album is a showcase of the band’s eclectic influences. From the opening track, “Autumnal”, a slow-burning ascent into full black‑metal fury, inspired by the Sensorio light installation in Paso Robles. “Backward Momentum” blends Opeth‑style clean‑vocal layering with 90s‑rock riffing and one of Portz’s favorite solos on the album. “Voids in the Ash” pairs grunge‑inflected vocal harmonies with hyperspeed black‑metal bursts, telling the story of Pompeii from both mortal and divine perspectives. “The Apparition” channels early death metal before spiraling into odd‑meter prog weirdness. The title track, “The Harvest,” closes the album with an apocalyptic vision inspired by Iceland’s stark landscapes and the album’s striking cover art.

The album’s cover, featuring two red skeletons locked in an eerie, autumnal tableau, was created by artist Venus Kohana, whose work Portz discovered at an art show. The imagery’s blend of beauty, decay, and ritual perfectly mirrors the album’s themes.

“I bought a print and couldn’t stop staring at it. Eventually, I realized it had to be the cover. It even inspired the lyrics to the title track.”

For over a decade, Ashen Horde has carved out a unique place in extreme metal, refusing to be confined to any single subgenre. Rooted in black and death metal but unafraid to explore melodic prog, 90s alternative, and avant‑garde experimentation, the band appeals to fans of Opeth, Enslaved, Amorphis, Ihsahn, and metal’s more adventurous corners.

Originally founded as a solo project by guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz, Ashen Horde has evolved into a full lineup featuring vocalist Karl Chamberlain and Australian-based drummer Robin Stone (The Amenta, Convulsing).

“The Harvest” represents the band’s most dynamic, collaborative, and ambitious work to date.

“The harvest is coming! The new Ashen Horde album is a multi-faceted journey into every nook and cranny of extreme metal. “The Harvest” is challenging and quirky, but unlike a lot of other progressive/experimental releases, it never loses track of the key ingredient in music – good songwriting. All tracks are well-crafted and interesting in their own right, and the skillful instrumental performances are more like the icing on the cake and not the main focus. Highly recommended!” – Nik Sundin (Dark Tranquillity)

“Antimony; 3/5 rating; “the sound Ashen Horde has developed over three albums is pretty much theirs alone. It’s a dense but accessible approach that rewards both casual listens and sustained attention.” – Angry Metal Guy (2023 – Antimony)

“Equal parts blackened madness, death metal riffing, and clean vocals, “The Neophyte” should get just about anyone stoked for Antimony.” – Metal Injection (2023 – Antimony)

“an amazing odyssey all around and the amount of remarkable coherency as well as the instrumentation work and musicianship is just top notch.” – Metal Purgatory (2023 – Antimony)

“Progression like what Ashen Horde has undergone over the years is what the best tales in the underground are made out of.” – Head-Banger Reviews (2023 – Antimony)

“Fallen Cathedrals; 4.0 rating; “I can’t recommend this enough for fans of black and death metals being combined in unique ways.” – Angry Metal Guy (2019 – Fallen Cathedrals)

Montreal, QC – September 10, 2021

For fans of In Flames, Amorphis, Avenged Sevenfold

Finland’s AS I MAY New Music Video “Charged”

New Album “Karu” Coming 2022 via Uprising! Records

The Finnish melodic tradition runs hot in the veins of AS I MAY as they release the second single from their forthcoming album “Karu” due out in 2022 via Uprising! Records.

“Charged” is a song as heavy and energetic in the verses as melodic and addictive in the chorus. A combination that already proved to be a winner for the Finnish four-piece.

“The whole idea for the song came from the Netflix “Making A Murderer” series”, vocalist & guitarist Lasse Hiltunen says. “The song is based on fiction and we don’t have any opinions on that case, but what a story! The actual song has really hard-hitting guitar riffs with an, almost, pop hit vocal melody in the chorus, with metal guitars. For the music video, we tried to get more of that story-vibe with colours of flame and charcoal. Sad, tragic story from all points of view“, he concludes.

In Asia, the album was released through the label Spiritual Beast.

As I May played a wide array of local Finnish shows and were booked for a European tour, as support for the Brazilian powerhouse-metal act Semblant… and then Covid-19 reared its ugly face, postponing everything for everyone.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 25, 2021

For fans of Katatonia, Helloween, Amorphis, Anthema

Rockshots Records: Out Now! Endless Chain’s Debut Album “Forthcoming Past” + New Lyric Video

Debut Album “Forthcoming Past” Out June 25, 2021
ft. guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun),
Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari),
Antti Kolehmainen, (Waltari), Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani)

Finnish songwriter Timo Mölsä’s studio project Endless Chain‘s debut album “Forthcoming Past” is out now as of June 25th via Rockshots Records.

For the full-length’s release day, Endless Chain is sharing their latest video for the title track that features guest vocals from Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo) and Aki Salonen (Nemecic) along with the opening speech by John Egerton. Drums by Korpiklaani’s Samuli Mikkonen with album producer Aleksanteri Kuosa on guitar, bass and keyboards.

Lyric Video – https://youtu.be/-6hNd3KVFl4

Mölsä comments on the album’s release:

“My project, which lasted about a year, is now coming to an end. The last good couple of years have been full of music and I have to say that ‘what a journey this has been’. February 2020 – after the pre-production – the recording was started and finalized (after many phases) in November 2020. The recording and mixing by Aleksanteri Kuosa and mastering by Juho Räihä. Thanks guys and BIG thank you to everyone who made this album possible.

What else can I say? I have invested a lot of time and practically all the usable energy to this album and to the whole project. But, it has been worth it – and I believe you can hear it! While the album is musically varied, it remains focused and tight. And it’s still very clearly a metal album. I can now proudly present the results. A big “Thank you!” goes to Rockshots Records for believing and releasing my music. Let the music speak for itself!”

“Forthcoming Past” features guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun), Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari), Antti Kolehmainen, (Waltari), and Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani). The full length was recorded, mixed, and produced by Aleksanteri Kuosa (Before the Dawn, Wolfheart, Waltari) along with mastering done by Juho Räihä (guitarist of Swallow the Sun).

A late bloomer to being a musician, Endless Chain‘s Timo Mölsä had his musical awakening in 2016, however, he has been listening and influenced by various genres of metal music for over 30 years. It took re-introducing himself to guitar with long-time friend Ari Hokkanen as a fun pastime that drove Mölsä to create his own songs. What would soon follow is a new project with contributions from Hokkanen for writing and lyrics.

Soon after, Mölsä shared his demos with drummer Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani), who, after listening, joined the project and performed all the drums on the debut record.

Step by step things fell into place, through Mikkonen, Mölsä became acquainted with producer Aleksanteri Kuosa who had a big impact on the completion of the debut album.

“Aleksanteri is an imaginative producer and he was also very patient with a perfectionist like me. He knew how to weed out extra notes from my compositions and finally got the most out of my songs. There were maybe a total of 20 songs in the beginning, of which we went through less than 15 in the preliminary production. Finally, 10 songs had been selected for the album. Through Aleksanteri, I also got many other great musicians involved in the project.”

The end result is Mölsä‘s dark and melancholic sound premiered through Endless Chain‘s first offering “Forthcoming Past”.

Rockshots Records: Feel The Demonic Possession w/ KARPENTER’s New Single “Mechanical Sense”

New Album “Sleepless” Out May 28th

KARPENTER (named in tribute to horror master John Carpenter) will be releasing their debut album “Sleepless” on May 28th via Rockshots Records. The album will be a gateway to a hostile and tormented world, where space and time are perceived in a distorted way. Each track hides a story, and a tale steeped in fear all inspired by horror movie themes and characters such as “Perfection Valley” for Tremors, “No Vacancy” for Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, “Shark” influenced by Jaws, and “The Manor” for Army of Darkness.

With just a few days until the full-length is unleashed, these horror fiends are sharing their latest music video for “Mechanical Sense”, which is inspired by the horror video board game Atmosfear. It’s a fast and impactful track that speaks of demonic possession as a metaphor of the inability to manage choices and actions in everyday life.

“This song is here to make a clear point: we can play hard and heavy if we want. “Mechanical Sense” is like a fast train running with no rails and boundaries. It is clearly a speedy metal song filled with stunning melodies and majestic mid-tempo openings. It’s a no-brainer when it comes to the power of sound and it is so funny to play! ” adds the band.

For fans of Katatonia, Helloween, Amorphis, Anthema

Rockshots Records: Endless Chain Check-Off “All of The Above” From Upcoming Album “Forthcoming Past”

Debut Album “Forthcoming Past” Out June 25, 2021
ft. guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun),
Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari),
Antti Kolehmainen (Waltari), Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani)

Finnish songwriter Timo Mölsä will be releasing his studio project Endless Chain‘s debut album “Forthcoming Past” via Rockshots Records on June 25th, 2021.

The album features guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun), Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari), Antti Kolehmainen, (Waltari), and Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani). The full length was recorded, mixed, and produced by Aleksanteri Kuosa (Before the Dawn, Wolfheart, Waltari) along with mastering done by Juho Räihä (guitarist of Swallow the Sun).

Today, Endless Chain is now ready to unveil the next single “All of The Above” with guest vocals from Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic).

Mölsä comments:

“The second last song I composed for the album. The song was built around a chorus lead guitar melody. After all, a pretty straight striking metal song with clean and growling vocals as well as a big chorus.”

Lyric Video – https://youtu.be/b9nbm_euL9U
Digital – https://backl.ink/146711362

Rockshots Records: KARPENTER Unleashes Army of Darkness Inspired Music Video “The Manor”

New Album “Sleepless” Out May 28th

KARPENTER will be releasing their debut album “Sleepless” this coming May 2021 via Rockshots Records. The album will be a gateway to a hostile and tormented world, where space and time are perceived in a distorted way. Each track hides a story, and a tale steeped in fear all inspired by horror movie themes and characters such as “Perfection Valley” for Tremors, “No Vacancy” for Alfred Hitchock’s Psycho, “Shark” influenced by Jaws, and their second single “The Manor” for Army of Darkness, which is being unleashed today.

The band adds:

“The Manor” is like an endless battle that brings many emotions to the table. We conceived it as a struggle to defend what’s most important to us, in an everlasting balance between win and loss, triumphant metal rides, and bitter melodic chords. “The Manor” is a hymn to revenge and it is set in a fictitious “dark era” that might evoke the Middle Ages. It sounds so powerful and punchy that we couldn’t prevent it from spreading so fiercely.”

“Sleepless” was recorded and mixed by Gabriele Ravaglia (Extrema) and Gianmarco Bambini at Fear Studio in Italy, and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse).

For fans of In Flames, Amorphis, Machine Head, and Mercenary, KARPENTER will release “Sleepless” via Rockshots Records on May 28th.

Rockshots Records: KARPENTER Unleashes A “Shark” Size Bite w/ New Single

New Album “Sleepless” Out May 28th

KARPENTER will be releasing their debut album “Sleepless” this coming May 2021 via Rockshots Records. The album will be a gateway to a hostile and tormented world, where space and time are perceived in a distorted way. The band adds:

“This is probably the most atypical song of the album, the most introspective and dark. We choose “Shark” as the first single, because it represents our most inner-self; gloomy vocal melodies and cinematic orchestral surroundings are shining in symphony with guitar arpeggios and solos, built on a solid rhythmic structure. It is a very dramatic song full of pathos.”
