For Fans of The Offspring, the Headstones, Social Distortion, Rise Against, Monster Truck, The Motorleague

Hamilton’s THE CASTOR TROYS To Play Sound of Music Fest w/ Bush, Live, Headstones and more!

Out Now! New EP “Legends Never Die”

A story-telling hard rock band that tells tales of war heroes, bank robbers, and clandestine lovers, this intrepid four-piece peddles true stories and truer fiction. Drawing inspiration from bands like the Headstones, Social Distortion, Motörhead, The Offspring and Iron Maiden, Hamilton’s The Castor Troys are proud to announce they will be performing at this year’s Sound of Music Festivalwith Bush, Live, Monster Truck, Headstones and more on June 8th in Burlington, ON at Spencer Smith Park. For full details, please visit https://soundofmusic.ca. Facebook event here.

The band comments:

“We’re so incredibly excited to kick-off the 40th anniversary of the Sound of Music Festival! Not only are we playing alongside massive acts like Bush and Live, but this is our second time sharing the stage with our heroes, Headstones. The festival wanted to include a strong local representation at this kick-off show, and they’ve done that with incredible local bands like Monster Truck and Crown Lands. Don’t miss Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion – all four of us became instant fans the moment we heard their first single. For true rockers, this concert is one for the ages!”

THE CASTOR TROYS‘ latest EP “Legends Never Die” was produced by Andre Kaden Black plus engineered by Tal Vaisman (Ascot Royals) and has refined the band’s sound, enabling them to capture the fierce energy of their live performance onto record, a great follow up to their 2015 debut full length “Come Hell or High Water” since forming in 2013.

“Six songs that draw influences of hard rock, punk, country and southern rock will make you sing along and pump your fist.  This is veteran songwriting with youthful energy.” – The Castor Troys

“Legends Never Die” is available on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp.

“Need a good song to pump you up for a long day? This classic punk-rock track (We Are One) might even fuel you up better than your morning caffeine boost. You’ll be screaming along with these powerful vocals and air-guitaring these riffs all week long.” – Alt Press

“The Legends Never Die EP departs from their debut album and takes their sound to the next level with a tighter chemistry and production. It boasts two full-throttle singles: “Blackout Love” and the follow-up, “We Are One”. The latter single, albeit a real stomper, sounds pretty similar to a track on their first album. It could just be me so, I’ll leave it to you to investigate and decide. Other standout tracks on the EP include “Burn This City Down” and “Wreck of the Bastard”. After a listen, you’re bound to walk away with at least a few songs stuck in your head! ” – LdnReverb

“Writing music that is catchy and instantly memorable, The Castor Troys weave tales in an accessible and uncompromising manner.” – Ignite Music Mag

“Hard rock revival? I fuckin’ hope so! Add another band to the burgeoning list – Ontario’s The Castor Troys. This hard rockin’ quartet infuse their dynamic new EP with strains of punk, country and loads of heavy rock. Adrenaline pumping screaming melodic anthems that only hard rock can deliver.” – Power of Pop

“The artwork for the Legends Never Die EP, that features a leather clad skeleton shifting into high gear in a muscle car, gives you a a fair idea of what to expect from Ontario’s The Castor Troys latest release, and you won’t be disappointed or surprised as this is balls out rock ‘n roll with a punk edge. ” The Punk Site

“They play a kind of anthemic punk rock with hard rock influences thrown in that has as much to do with Rise Against and Ignite as with Monster Truck and Iron Maiden… If you are into hard rockin’ riffs and tons of ooh’s and aah’s, feel free to check out The Castor Troys.” – Punk Rock Theory

0 Bucketlist Music Reviews – The Castor Troys – Legends Never Die – “Legends Never Die gets by on its attitude alone. It’s a short one at just six songs and seventeen minutes, but that’s all The Castor Troys really need to get their point across; very punk rock. “We Are One” is all you can ask for in a punk rock song. With ripping guitars, fast rhythm, catchy group vocal chorus, aggressive lyrics, you can’t ask for anything more. It is very reminiscent of The Offspring or Pennywise, and the alt-punk flavour of the mid nineties.”

It is very reminiscent of The Offspring or Pennywise, and the alt-punk flavour of the mid nineties. “Watch The City Burn” is more of a classic rocker, maybe with a little southern vibe to it. It had me thinking of Ram Jam’s “Black Betty,” at least at the start. It showcases lead vocalist Aaron Walsh’s storytelling capabilities as he spins a yarn about Hamilton and his seeming irreverence for it.”

A story-telling hard rock band that tells tales of war heroes, bank robbers and clandestine lovers, this intrepid four-piece peddles true stories and truer fiction. Drawing inspiration from bands like The Headstones (whom they recently opened for), Social Distortion, Motörhead, The Offspring and Iron Maiden, The Castor Troys

Crafting fiery and infectious songs that draw you in and don’t let you go, Hamilton’s THE CASTOR TROYS are sharing a very special lyric video for their cover track of Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down The Dream”, which appears on the band’s latest EP “Legends Never Die” released at the beginning of this November.

Chris Ledroit (Guitars, Backing Vocals) explains:

“When we were planning the songs for the EP, we knew we wanted to include a cover. We wanted something that hadn’t already been covered several times, but also something that was a really familiar song. We also wanted something that wasn’t right in our genre, so we could change it and make it our own. We started working on this before Tom died: in fact it was just during the mastering stage that we heard the news. It was one of those moments where you remember exactly where you were when the news came on the radio: I was on my way home from the Midwest US at a gas station somewhere west of Chicago. It was an incredible coincidence that this song had taken such an important role in our lives by then so the news came as quite a shock. And the song sure means a lot more to us now.”
