Out Now! North American Release Italian Symphonic Metal SOUND STORM “Vertigo”
New Video “Forsaken”
European Tour Dates w/MirrorMaze

Unleashing their third studio album “Vertigo” in Europe last December via Rockshot Records, Italian symphonic metallers Sound Storm have now made the release available in North America officially as of October 13th.
Digital and CD album order for North America available on Amazon at https://tinyurl.com/y7fngh4t
“Vertigo” was produced in the Netherlands at Sandlane Recording Facilities with Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Ayreon, Xandria) and is something more than a metal album, the music has a cinematic purpose. The overall concept of “Vertigo” is a Victorian – steam punk story, firstly based on Dante’s Inferno idea and then developed to a more psychological/introspective tale. Gabriel is the main character of the story, an unsuccessful composer who becomes a scientist, starting a war against his troubled mind and forcing himself to destroy everything beloved. The only handhold seems to be a mystic dragonfly, leading Gabriel among the floors of a huge spiral staircase.
Music video “Forsaken” filmed during the band’s performance at the 2016 Lucca Comics and Games, one of Europe’s largest comic cons.

In additional news, those in Europe will be able to see Sound Storm‘s live musical as the band enjoys a massive use of cinematic elements (video, fireworks, pyros, led lights etc) to transform their fiction into reality.

“What you have is a forward looking, very deep and multi-layered progressive album that draws a just bit on past works.” – Metal Underground (Review Vertigo)
“Vertigo offers something really impressive, it is great symphonic power metal with some forward thinking meaning that they sound very fresh and exciting. The arrangements, the songs, everything is great on this album and I don’t think it has any weaknesses – not any worth mentioning anyway. I find this to be very appealing and when it comes to making symphonic power metal I think you will have to look very long and very hard to find anything that rivals these guys.” Hallowed
““Vertigo” is a very accomplished album with great thought given to the music and the lyrics, as well as the atmospheric nature of the record. As in most Symphonic Metal albums, this album features blistering lead guitar work and choir vocals. Operatic vocals and cello melodies are incorporated to give an epic feel to the tracks. However, this album varies from other albums of similar sounding bands due to the band’s commitment towards, not only aural gratification, but also the way they set about creating a visual tapestry with their tunes.” – Metal Temple
“Each song on itself is a masterpiece filled with symphonic and power metal parts accompanied by great guitar riffs and solo’s. To complete the picture with songs like “Metamorphosis” they each tell their own story and yet when they are put together they show us the world of Gabriel the main character…This album is by far one of the best ones to come out in a while, it has the whole package a story, skilled band members, great producing and it’s as original as it can.” – Grimm Gent (Review Vertigo)
“Sound Storm may seem an epic power metal band. Occasionally, they emit a vicious edge. The compelling melodies of singing and guitar work cannot be counted on one hand. Everything is accompanied by a lot of electronic and symphonic pieces. After a brief intro ‘The Dragonfly’ sounds like a fairytale splendor with its many different styles and parts. Everything is brought with a good dose of bombast.” – Lords of Metal (Review Vertigo)
“Like Parmigianino painting a beautiful landscape in the 1500’s, Sound Storm paints its own masterpiece with each band member adding broad strokes to the soundscape of ‘Immortalia.'” – Metal Underground (Review Immortalia)

Sound Storm was founded in 2002 in Turin, a city in the north west of Italy. The band started composing their own material, with the first three or four tracks finished by the end of 2003.
After two self-released titles (“The Storm is coming…” – Demo, 2005 – and “Northern Wilderness” – EP, 2007 -), in 2008 the band released their debut album “Twilight Opera”, which has an incredible high quality production, strings section and a 9-pieces choir.
The album was mastered at Finnvox Studios by Mika Jussila and released worldwide by Rising Records (UK).
In summer 2010, Sound Storm toured Mexico for the first time: the band played 11 gigs across the country with incredible success and hundreds of people attending each show.
In 2012, Sound Storm signed a worldwide deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their album ‘Immortalia’. That chapter marked another important milestone for the band, mixing their wide range of influences in a piece of work perfectly balanced between powerful guitars, magnificent symphonic choirs, gothic atmospheres and baroque melodies.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Metal House Studio by Ettore Rigotti (Disarmonia Mundi), ‘Immortalia’ is a stunning concept album on the quest for eternal life, an amazing journey through literature, poetry and history, a collection of songs linked together by the common theme of the immortality of the soul. The evocative artwork was handled by Felipe Machado Franco (Blind Guardian, Rhapsody Of Fire). ‘Immortalia’ was released August 28th, 2012.
Shortly after the band supported Norwegian Gothic Metal veterans Tristania on their European tour. At the end of 2012, Sound Storm also toured Italy with Epica and Haggard.
The “Immortalia tour” continued into to 2013, first with some headlining shows across Italy, then with some international festivals and at the end of the year another tour all over Europe again.
The “Rock Opera Unveiled” tour took place in December of 2013 featuring Therion, Arkona, Sound Storm, The Devil and hit the best stages all over Europe, including the “Eindhoven Metal Meeting” festival.
Between 2014 and 2015, Sound Storm got on another European tour with the German Metal Orchestra Haggard: The “Symphonic Autumn/Winter Blast” tour and the “Dragonfest” tour, kicking off in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia for a total of 15 shows across the best European clubs.
After several line-up changes between 2014 and 2015, the band eventually found a top-quality team by recruiting Elena Crolle on keyboards, Alessandro Bissa (Vision Divine, Labyrinth) on drums, Sascha Blackice on the rhythm guitar and Fabio Privitera as lead singer.
“Vertigo” is the new band’s latest album, created with an extra purpose than “simple” music.
Besides being a top-quality album for the compositions and the production – it was produced in the Netherlands at “Sandlane Recording Facilities” with Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Ayreon, Xandria etc) who worked with the band from the first moment of conception.
“Vertigo” is something more than a metal album, the music has a cinematic purpose. It’s a mindful screenplay born across two years of hard work. The music itself required a strong video addition to the project, and this lead the band to start collaborating with a cinematic crew, involved for the development of the whole concept.
The overall concept of “Vertigo” is a Victorian – steam punk story, firstly based on Dante’s Inferno idea and then developed to a more psychological/introspective way. Gabriel is the main character of the story, an unsuccessful composer who becomes a scientist, starting a war against his troubled mind and forcing himself to destroy everything beloved. The only handhold seems to be a mystic dragonfly, leading Gabriel among the floors of a huge spiral staircase.
Being the same as the production, also the “live” feature is a basic aspect of the concept: the band intends to represent a sort of live-musical, with a massive use of cinematic elements (video, fireworks, pyros, led lights etc) and the transposition of the fiction into reality.
The official release party of the whole project took place at “Lucca Comics & Games”, the largest comics and video games convention in Europe, where Sound Storm was headlining the main stage on Halloween. The show has been entirely filmed for a future DVD release.
“VERTIGO” was released in Europe on December 2, 2016 and will be released in North America on October 13th via Rockshots Records. “Vertigo” has been nominated for Album of The Year/ Top album in many reviews/magazines/webzines, in Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria.
