Following the success of their 2010 “…Of War” and 2011 “…Of Exile” albums, Scythia’s 2012 follow up “For the Bear,” is a short, but sweet seven-track EP that departs from the orchestration and central concept of its predecessors, instead representing a leaner, faster, sharper folk metal machine.

SCYTHIA Posts Teaser, Reveal EP Title, Artwork, Track Listing and Release Date

Canada’s favorite purveyors of folk/prog metal are proud to reveal to fans a sneak peak of their latest sonic attack, “For The Bear” due out on September 25, 2012.

“Scythia is proud to present the artwork and more for our upcoming release. The artwork was painted by the talented Mika Harju of Finland, he has experience designing metal albums before and we needed something tough and harsh looking to capture the intensity of the music. As you can imagine, it probably doesn’t get much tougher than duelling barbarians from atop a bear in the dead of winter. We are also including a teaser track that gives a little prelude of the sonic intensity that accompanies this imagery.” says vocalist / guitarist Dave Khan.

Canadian Folk Metal Warriors SCYTHIA Releases New Music Video ‘Spirit of The Quest’

Canadian folk metal warriors Scythia are proud to present their epic and adventurous music video for their song ‘Spirit of the Quest’ from their sophomore album, …Of Exile, which was released to great praise in 2011.

“Scythia is pleased to finally reveal Spirit of the Quest. This video has been a long time in the making as we’ve made several attempts to capture our excitement and enthusiasm as well as the story on the album with an indie budget. Filming and editing it was an extremely fun and humorous process, we worked with James Weekes and Rosie Anson of Hammer Records to capture the footage. They were both great at capturing wicked content and amping us up to get into character.” says vocalist / guitarist Dave Khan.

In additional news, the band will be releasing its third album later this fall with full details being announced on the release and tour in the coming weeks.

June 2 – Vancouver- Folk Metal Wizards SCYTHIA Come To The Rescue For Richmond Animal Protection Society

Canada’s masters and wizards of folk-progressive metal fusion, Scythia, have set aside their time hunting trolls and have come to the rescue of the Richmond Animal Protection Society for a benefit concert to help raise funds for the RAPS two animal shelters in dire need of supplies (wishlist).

“Scythia is stoked to rock out for an honourable cause like animals. A huge inspiration for our breed of folk metal is having a symbiosis with animals and nature… Especially bears, but dogs and cats are awesome as well. We are also stoked about the killer line up, we have played with all of these bands before and believe that each and every band on this bill are top notch musicians capable of delivering incredible performances.” comments Scythia’s vocalist/ guitarist Dave Khan.

With support from local Vancouver speed thrash metal titans Cradle To Grave, power metallers Aeterna and Nanaimo, BC’s Viking warriors Eye of Odin, Scythia along with event organizer and Oboe of death player Morgan Zentner of Aesir Promotions are conquering higher ground for this great cause to help our furry companions in their time of need.

“As the promoter and creator of this event, I am proud to say that Aesir Promotions will be putting on a show to help support such a worthy cause. As an animal owner and lover, I feel that abandoned pets are easily over looked and I was very happy to find the Richmond Animal Protection Society, which is a no kill shelter.” says Morgan Zentner, “We have support from bands all over BC and Alberta donating merch for raffle prizes and the support from the metal community in Vancouver has been fantastic. All of the performers for the show are of high caliber and we are all looking forward to helping out our furry friends.”

Also for your viewing pleasure! One of Vancouver’s best belly dancers, the radiantMahafsoun will be joining Scythia on stage for a memorable performance.

SCYTHIA Announce Western Canadian Dates “No More Trolls” Tour

Canada’s masters and wizards of folk-progressive metal fusion, Scythia, have once again donned their medieval garb, dusted off their oboe of death and summoned the echoes of thunder in preparation for their up-coming Western Canada mini tour dubbed the No More Trolls Tour.

Kicking off in Calgary, AB on May 5, the tour will see trolls running for cover across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia until June 2 when Scythia will play a very special charity show at the Astoria in Vancouver, BC, benefiting the Richmond Animal Protection Society. Hunting trolls, saving dogs and cats – the best motto to live by.

And for those who don’t have a chance to see the band performing live, and for those who do too, Scythia will be unleashing a new folktastic music video of epic proportions for “Spirit of the Quest” from their sophomore album, …Of Exile, which was released to great praise last fall.
