Currently working on completing their new EP entitled “Tenebrous Labyrinth” to follow their 2015 debut album “Void To Enlightenment”, Denver, CO progressive death metal trio PILE OF PRIESTS have a new video for their stand alone single entitled “Redemptionem Per Cruciatu” premiered exclusively on NoCleanSinging.com.

Translated from Latin, “Redemptionem Per Cruciatu” means “Redemption Through Torture” as the band explains:

“The song is about the centuries of child molestation within the Catholic Church, and in particular one Wisconsin priest who sexually molested over 200 deaf children between 1950 and 1974. He was never punished by the Vatican hierarchy or by the criminal justice system of the United States. The song musically starts out with an eerie bass intro to portray the sadness and trauma of all the affected victims. It then progresses into a fast-paced melodic ride of pure anger that is sure to rile up the listener.”

Following the release of this new single, the band’s forthcoming EP “Tenebrous Labyrinth” will consist of three original songs and three covers.

Drummer Evan Knight adds:

“We are very proud of our new single ‘Redemption Per Cruciatu’ and upcoming EP that we plan to follow. Our sound has evolved on every release and we have agreed that this EP to come is the pinnacle of our sound thus far. It’s fast, evil, melodic and incorporates other styles of metal besides death metal.”

About:

Formed in 2009, the memorably named progressive death metal band Pile of Priests have put in the man hours for their metal, supporting legendary bands like Artillery, Vader and Immolation.

Consisting of Evan Salvador on guitar and vocals, Patrick Leyn on bass, and Evan Knight on drums, they independently released their 2016 debut album ‘Void To Enlightenment’.

Never resting on their laurels, they have now recorded a new EP, consisting of three original songs and three covers, entitled ‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’ plus prior to the EP being unleashed a stand alone single ‘Redemption Per Cruciatu’.

Inspired by Death, Edge of Sanity, Old Man’s Child, Cannibal Corpse and the mighty Voivod… Evan Salvador describes his band’s ‘death metal with a twist’.

Pile of Priests aim is to produce a sound inspired by 90s death and thrash metal bands. The trio were disgusted with what they describe as ‘pseudo metal’ and they could feel the resurgence of real metal was coming, and Pile of Priests were going to be at the forefront of this true metal tsunami! Lyrically, Pile of Priests are a firestorm of fury against the injustices of the world, as main songwriter Evan Salvador explains, he focuses on “things that upset me, things that I have true hatred or resentment toward to help conjure creative emotions. Most of our songs are about the fallacies of religion, but also human struggles and current events in the world.”

Evan is stoked for fans to hear Pile of Priests’ new music. “We are very proud of our new single ‘Redemption Per Cruciatu’ and upcoming EP that we plan to follow. Our sound has evolved on every release and we have agreed that this EP to come is the pinnacle of our sound thus far. It’s fast, evil, melodic and incorporates other styles of metal besides death metal.’

Live Pile of Priests “is all about energy. We certainly don’t stand there like boring robots solely focused on our instruments with blank expressions!”

“It is full to the brim of very complex rhythms, great jams…the musicianship on Void of Enlightenment is top quality stuff. The band’s drummer pulls off some excellent grooves as the two guitar players jam over the top. It is a pleasant change for the genre and it gives the band a lot of personality.” – Demons Zone (Void To Enlightenment Review)

“a swirling vortex of terror, brutality and vintage 90s progressive moments. Be afraid, and make your body ready, for this is a wild ride.” The Killchain Blog (Void To Enlightenment Review)

“well played, tight, interesting and well written brutal songs” – Merchants of Air (Void To Enlightenment Review)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 19, 2017

Denver Death Trio PILE OF PRIESTS Signs With Fatal Illness Management

Denver, CO death metal trio PILE OF PRIESTS have signed to FATAL ILLNESS MANAGEMENT artist roster, which includes Vesperia, Malphas and D.V.T.

Eric Dow of Fatal Illness Management comments:

“I have had my eye on the Denver scene for a few years now and I am excited to be working with such a talented group from that awesome scene. Pile of Priests definitely have the potential to go places and I want to help them succeed in all of their musical endeavors.”

Pile of Priests is currently working on completing their new EP entitled “Tenebrous Labyrinth”. The band originated in 2009 as death/thrash band and has since evolved into a progressive death metal band. They have executed a number of mini-tours throughout New Mexico, California, Wyoming, Kansas, and Nebraska and have had the honor of opening for Artillery, Vader, and Immolation. Led by Evan Salvador (vocals, guitars), Patrick Leyn (bass, backing vocals), and Evan Knight (drums, additional session guitars), Pile of Priests successfully and independently financed their debut album as well as booked an entire western coast tour in support of that record (Void to Enlightenment).

Pile of Priests comments on the signing to FIM and upcoming EP:

“We here at Pile of Priests are ecstatic to announce that we have begun working with Fatal Illness Management! Over the past month, Eric Dow has been prompt to answer all our questions as well as provide genuine insight of the industry. With full confidence in Eric (New Dad) and the Fatal Illness team, the band can confidently and professionally move forward. We like to also add that after our collective introspection of the last release ‘Void To Enlightenment,’ we knew how we wanted to proceed next and quickly began writing new material. Now a year after touring for Void, our new EP titled ‘Tenebrous Labyrinth’ is finally completed. As a power trio, we’ve agreed this record properly portrays our ideal sound. The weight of intensity it beholds really showcases some of our best material yet.”
