INVERTED SERENITY has been the go to band when it comes to supporting touring acts in Winnipeg. Just coming off their local support slot for Soulfly, Soilwork and Shattered Sun earlier this month, these tech death metal architects have been tapped once again to open on November 5th at The Windsor Hotel for ‘The Infernus Tour’ featuring Hate Eternal, Misery Index, Beyond Creation and Rivers of Nihil. Two years in the making, Winnipeg, MB’s INVERTED SERENITY are proud to unleash their latest creation ‘Integral’ featuring their brand of technical groovy death metal rooted in musical duality and lyricism. “This track is a more straight-forward mid paced and heavy piece. There includes uplifting After the Burial type melodies with contrast the darker riff structures throughout its majority. The outro of the song opens up into many layers with its underlying drum pattern akin to that of a Lamb of God passage. The lyrical conception was created by our vocalist and bassist Tomas, basing the songs narrative on the heavy emotional impact that comes with the realization that all that you experience and love in this lifetime will eventually dissolve, leaving us to memories as we erode.”

“This track is the longest on the record and is definitely one of the most impressive songs structurally. Beginning with a doom inspired riff that picks itself up into an uplifting proggy type groove which then unexpectedly turns itself into an atmospheric black metal passage is just one of the many interesting changes the song paints itself into. This is also the first track that we as a band chose to include clean group vocals with pan out really smoothly with the dissonant acoustic guitar riff written by Tomas a few years prior. The theme discussed in the lyrics is based upon balancing of mind as it increasingly unfolds itself unto the realization that it is the observer of all that is. Through the process knowing the rhythmic balanced interchange of natures polarity (inhalation/exhalation), the endless unfolding is fully expressed.”

“Perhaps our most mature and technically structured songwriting on the record can be found in Elemental Abyss. This song comes out of the gate with a full speed technical thrash pace that unfolds itself into larger layered riffs all while maintaining a mid-paced headbanging groove underlying the majority of the song. Heavy and polyrhythmic riffs are explored akin to the sounds of bands like Decapitated and Meshuggah. A 7/4 time signature is played while Marcos vocals push the thickness of the song along. Tomas’ massive sounding screams lead you into the auditory abyss we specifically placed as the final stretch of the album. The themes explored lyrically are tied into the unknowing of our oceans on Earth, which can be paralleled to the unknown depths of our emotions inside of us. While we are immersed in this material world structured by the elements, through discernment and letting go of the weight of physical reality, we are immersed in the fractal nature of reality and its infinite depth.”
