NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC -December 5, 2025

Out Now! Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON’s New Album “Something Borrowed…Something New”

Australian hard rock outfit Greystone Canyon returns today with their highly anticipated third album, “Something Borrowed… Something New.” Out today, as of December 5th, via Rockshots Records, the record is a hybrid collection blending brand-new original songs with powerful renditions of classic rock staples, all captured live in the studio with no click tracks, no tricks, just pure rock ’n’ roll.

Formed by vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry, whose lifelong passion for music was inspired by AC/DC, KISS, and his father’s career as a professional musician, Greystone Canyon has built a reputation for tone, feel, fire, honesty, and organic sound. With drummer Sham (also of Nothing Sacred), guitarist Richard Vella, and bassist David Poulter, the band brings decades of experience, including Cherry’s tenure with Paul Di’Anno’s final Australian tour in 2024.

“This is our third album and is somewhat of a hybrid. It’s a mix of new original material and classic rock cover songs. It was recorded live, together in one room, no click tracks, just real rock ’n’ roll,” says Cherry.

Greystone Canyon’s new album “Something Borrowed… Something New” pays homage to rock legends like UFO, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, and Neil Young, while introducing powerful originals such as Drives Us, Friend of the Fox, and Stealing Our Freedom. Inspired by Van Halen’s Diver Down, the record blends covers and originals into a dynamic listening experience. From the faithful tribute of UFO’s Doctor, Doctor and the smoky swing of ZZ Top’s Just Got Paid, to the road-trip energy of Drives Us and the heavier, metalized punch of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song, the album showcases both reverence and reinvention. Originals like the acoustic, eerie Friend of the Fox and the protest anthem Stealing Our Freedom stand proudly alongside covers such as Thin Lizzy’s Suicide and Neil Young’s haunting Hey Hey, My My. With creative flourishes like “AAF,” a Hendrix-style guitar homage to the Australian National Anthem, the album captures Greystone Canyon’s ability to honour rock’s greatest while carving out its own identity.

Unlike their previous album, “Iron & Oak,” which took six years to complete, “Something Borrowed… Something New” was tracked, mixed, and mastered in just five months. Recorded at Black Lodge Studio under the guidance of Joel Taylor, the band embraced a raw, live recording method that captures the warmth, punch, and energy of musicians playing together in real time.

“This album has been the most fun we’ve had recording. Albums can be hard work and tedious, but this was a joy to make, and we think you can hear that in the recording,” adds Cherry.

Greystone Canyon are an Australian hard rock band blending classic rock, heavy metal, blues, and folk influences. Known for their organic sound and passionate performances, the band continues to evolve while staying true to their roots. Their music is inspired by life, history, and the future, with lyrics that reflect both personal experiences and broader social themes.

“Something Borrowed… Something New” is available now on December 5th, 2025, from Rockshots Records on all major streaming platforms and physical formats.

About: Greystone Canyon is an Australian hard rock band formed in Melbourne, known for their timeless blend of classic rock, heavy metal, and blues-infused energy. Their music draws on the spirit of 1970s and 1980s legends such as Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, and UFO while infusing modern depth, dynamic arrangements, and heartfelt storytelling.

The band released their debut album “While the Wheels Still Turn” in 2018, earning critical acclaim from both Australian and international press. The record was named “Debut Album of the Year” by Australia’s national TV program The Hard Rock Show, and received outstanding reviews across the board – including 10/10 from Rock ’n’ Load Magazine and 99/100 from The Metal Mag. Supported by multiple singles and videos amassing over 450,000 views, the album firmly established Greystone Canyon as one of Australia’s most promising rock acts.

Their sophomore record, “Iron & Oak”, followed in 2024, entering the Australian iTunes chart at #18 for Hard Rock and #82 across all genres, as well as reaching #1 on CFUR North American college radio. The album was praised by the international rock media, with several 10/10 scores, and produced over 250,000 video views within weeks of release. The band also performed alongside US heavy metal pioneers The Rods, further cementing their reputation for powerful and emotionally charged live shows.

After years of honing their craft and refining their sound, Greystone Canyon return in 2025 with their third full-length album, “Something Borrowed…Something New” – a record that captures the raw, organic essence of a real rock band performing live together. Recorded at Black Lodge Studio in Melbourne with producer and engineer Joel Taylor, the album was tracked entirely live in one room, without click tracks or digital edits. The result is a vibrant, honest, and deeply musical release that mixes brand-new Greystone Canyon originals with hand-picked classic covers from the artists who shaped their identity, including Thin Lizzy, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, UFO, and Neil Young.

Frontman Darren Cherry, who also performed with Paul Di’Anno’s (ex-Iron Maiden) Australian touring band in 2024, leads the lineup featuring Richard Vella (guitars, vocals, keyboards), David Poulter (bass), and Sham Hughes (drums, keyboards, mastering). Together, they embody the spirit of traditional rock music – played with authenticity, precision, and passion.

With “Something Borrowed…Something New“, Greystone Canyon pays tribute to the golden age of rock while reaffirming their identity as a band devoted to tone, feel, fire, honesty, and organic sound. It’s a record that reminds listeners of what real rock ’n’ roll is meant to be — alive, human, and timeless.

Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON Unveils Next Single “Stealing Our Freedom”

New Album “Something Borrowed…Something New” Out Dec 5th, 2025

Australia’s hard rock renegades fire off their most explosive original track, “Stealing Our Freedom”, from their forthcoming album, “Something Borrowed…Something New,” due out December 5th, 2025, from Rockshots Records, marking their most authentic and organic release to date.

“Stealing Our Freedom” is a protest-anthem with teeth: rootsy acoustic intro, a razor-sharp riff that hits like mid-90s Megadeth, and lyrics that call out political distrust, land exploitation and personal liberties slipping away. Recorded fully live at Black Lodge Studio, no click, no edits, no digital makeup, just four guys in a room turning frustration into rock’n’roll fire. Crank it loud!

Produced by the band and engineered by Joel Taylor at Black Lodge Studio (Melbourne), “Something Borrowed…Something New” represents a turning point in Greystone Canyon’s journey. As the title suggests, it’s a hybrid record – a mix of new original songs and hand-picked classics from the bands that shaped their sound, including Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, UFO, and Neil Young. The album bridges past and present, combining heartfelt tributes with fresh, road-worn originals such as “Drives Us,” “Friend of the Fox,” and “Stealing Our Freedom”.

Vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry comments:

“This is our most honest record so far, real instruments, real performances, all captured live in one room. We wanted to remind listeners of the warmth and punch that only true rock bands can create together. It’s pure, old-school energy, and we had an absolute blast making it.”

Following the success of “Iron & Oak” (2024), which reached #18 on the Australian iTunes Hard Rock chart and earned multiple 10/10 media scores, the band is poised to bring their music to a new global audience with a record that’s equal parts homage and evolution.

“They’re Back! One of hard rock’s best modern bands, Greystone Canyon have just released their cover of the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Suicide’ as a teaser of their upcoming album “Something Borrowed…Something New” set for a Dec. 5th release. The new album is outstanding with exceptional original material as well as other classic rock covers…like a rendition of ‘Immigrant Song’ that very well may be the best cover version of that track we’ve ever come across. In the meanwhile, catch their on-target version of ‘Suicide’ and let’s start counting down the days to Dec. 5th, right here on your Home for the Best New Rock… W-J-O-EEEE” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“It’s kind of a Lynyrd Skynyrd meets Aerosmith track… starting with some slide and 12-string guitar and has a real classic rock feel. The song is about sitting up late at night and having conversations with those who have passed on. A kind of spiritual seance that connects us with those beyond this mortal coil. Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON premiere their music video “Keeping Company With The Dead / Astral Plane” off the band’s Wild West inspired debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” released during 2018 via Rockshots Records (EU/NA) and Hellfire Records (AU). If you’re a fan of classic metal in the vein of influences such as Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth, then this will be right up your alley.

In the 70s and 80s, Australia gave the world great hard rock/metal acts like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. Now, joining those Aussie giants of rock is GREYSTONE CANYON.

The band released their debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” on March 9, 2018, in Europe, U.S.A, and Canada through Rockshots Records and on Hellfire Records in Australia on March 12, 2018.

The album was tracked at the splendidly named Goatsound Studios in Melbourne, Australia, and then mixed in Canada, making ‘the album a real rock n’ roll frequent flyer. Mixing duties were undertaken by none other than Grammy-nominated producer and legend Glen Robinson, who had engineered, mixed and produced equally legendary acts like Annihilator, Queensryche, and Voivod.

Inspired by legends like Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and King Diamond, “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those legends, but with the current tsunami of all things the 70s and 80s inspired, GREYSTONE CANYON are in the right place at the right time. We are traveling back to the future and they are the soundtrack!

As vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry proudly states.

“We really wanted to make an album similar to old Ozzy Osbourne record where songs like ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Goodbye To Romance’ can sit comfortably. This is music from the heart and soul!”

“Greystone Canyon’s debut is a solid listening experience that should appeal to both fans of Western rock/heavy metal and classic hard rock/heavy metal.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Inspired by classic HR legends,  “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those; they’re able to be so various and with a view to the futiue. With a duration of 33 min, we can find six songs and three interludes; this album won’t disappoint you!” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal Mag

“Greystone Canyon has arrived with their debut album, While the Wheels Still Turn, and it is a beauty. A flawless homage to the bands which preceded them and inspired them, this glorious collection of kick ass tracks just teases the senses and reels you in track by track. Mammoth hooks fused with technical brilliance and that old school charm just work so goddamn well, perfectly executed and tasty like momma’s home cooking.” – Rock n’ Load Mag

“The western rock vibe that gets While the Wheels Still Turn started sees the up-tempo Astral Plane grab the attention before In These Shoes delivers head-banging groove. The latter’s deep bassy sound is thrilling.” – Games Brrraaains * A Headbanging Life

“While The Wheel Still Turn is a strong debut for Greystone Canyon, a fine and entertaining album classic melodic heavy metal with some interesting twists. Recommended.” – Danger Dog Music Reviews

The band adds:

“The song starts with some huge rhythmic percussion providing the backbone for Richard’s Steve Vai inspired melody.  Sounding similar to something Megadeth may have done in the early ’90s with a chugging verse and pre-chorus key change before shifting to another big chorus. The song deals with the subject matter of where we go after this life. The song ends with some dark solo guitar harmonies disappearing into a phaser.”

“This album is full of hard-rocking guitar riffs, soulful acoustic guitar, catchy drumming and vocals that are every bit the classic metal you’d expect them to be; all of this is arranged in a way that’s satisfying to the ear.” – Overdrive Mag

“a brilliant album! Very good pieces, a beautiful atmosphere wrap the listener. Give a chance to this band, it will doesn’t disappoint you with their class, good work guys!” – Rockers and Other Animals Mag

“The guitar work on this album is fantastic. But it is the harmonies that catch my attention.  “Path We Stray” has some really cool vocal harmony work that echos the dissonance used in old school Ozzy tracks.  My favorite track on the album, entitled “River of Fire”, has some solid harmony in a slower song that has a really cool build to a heavy ending.” – The Spinning Thoughts
