0 Eternal Terror – Fractal Cypher – The Human Paradox
0 Wonderbox Metal – Fractal Cypher – The Human Paradox
If you’ve ever wanted a hearty progressive mix of old and new, then look no further. Imagine Dream Theater and Pagan’s Mind thrown into a melting pot and then given a modern makeover. Do you like the sound of that? I do, which is why I like Fractal Cypher….The songs on The Human Paradox are bold and bigger than life, leaping out of the speakers with confidence and surety. The band know what they’re doing and know how to pull off the ambitious material with apparent ease…The Human Paradox has the ostentation and songwriting of good power metal, the exploratory nature of quality progressive music, the aggression and technicality of modern extravaganzas and the atmospheric impact of an album waiting to be discovered anew with every listen.

0 Thy Demons Be Scribblin – Fractal Cypher – The Human Paradox
Very 1st Impression when I hit play here was that Fractal Cypher reminded me of Queensryche (Operation Mindcrime era) then as Lost progressed I found myself thinking of Helloween and Savatage. The Queensryche-esque sound stayed the most prevalent throughout the album with hints at the more power metal leanings of Helloween or Savatage. These are all good things in case you’re wondering….damn good album if you’re into progressive hard rock with some power metal leanings.

The album is packed from start to finish with so much riffage it’s hard to believe this isn’t a Dragonforce album. Brilliantly fluid, and often unpredictable the album progresses much like a living, breathing entity, darting from one genre to another with out becoming cliché or recognizable. The few singles that have been released just go to show that once again Montreal has another iron smoldering in the forge.

The album is available on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify.
FRACTAL CYPHER exists to captivate audiences with progressive instrumentals that cut through the mesmerizing vocals yet somehow evolving; each listen provides a new perspective. Straight out of the heart of Canada’s metal scene, these Montreal metallers constantly shift their compositions with seamless transitions and theatrical interludes to keep audiences on their toes. Since 2014, ex-Far From Reality members Simon Lavoie (vocals), Ludovick Daoust (keyboard), and Vincent Bruneau (guitar) have dedicated themselves to FRACTAL CYPHER.
The powerful quintet is just as versatile in their music as they are in their musical interests, darting between djent, death metal, and classic rock. Each song acts of their own volition almost taking control of the members and shaping a personality and energy not unlike a living entity. Ludovick is at the helm of songwriting, calculating and unlocking each melody and becoming the voice for each piece.
