Toxic Playground is filled with destructive & infectious riffs. Nuclear Oath absolutely own this groovy metal sound with songs like Forsaken Wasteland just slaying. The hooks keep coming with the solid, meaty & thumping sounds of Faith Let Go & Razor Blade Regrets.

Longhouse have carved out their own piece of the post-metal pie with an overpowering, and at times fascinating array of sounds.
Everything a person could want in his or her progressive metal is contained within the album’s six tracks. Heavy, complex riffs? Check. Knotty, constantly-shifting time signatures? Check. Shreddy solos? Double check. Winding, non-linear song structures? Epic track lengths? Uplifting melodies? Check, check, and check. And then there’s that violin. It’s pretty clear from the first few notes that Olivier Allard has classical training, because he attacks his instrument like Yngwie Malmsteen with a bow.

a solid album with plenty of horns-to-the-sky crescendos
“Ninjaspy’s reggae-fusion-meets-metal is even sweeter when played live…for me this was the best show of 2017 yet.”

The tone, mix and mood of the album is one of darkness, menace and depression. “II: Vanishing” will terrify your consciousness and haunt your soul into painful contortions

This one could almost land in the progressive rock category. I think the balance is probably closer to the metal end, though. This has a lot in common with stuff like Dream Theater and Rush. It’s a killer set of “thinking man’s music.” I’d love to hear more from these guys, as this is great.
Divinity have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this eventual third full-length release. Far from a pale imitation of its many and varied influences, The Immortalist is rather a perfect culmination of everything those impressive acts have so far sought to create. This record has the potential to be an absolute worldbeater if given a chance. If you have even a slight interest in any of the bands mentioned in this review, then you owe it to yourself to go and pick up a copy of The Immortalist immediately.
